In this week's video we take you on a tour throughout an abandoned farmhouse in Portugal that has been left behind since the 1970s. This place has all the memories from the former inhabitants left in it. The family that lived in this place was the family palettes, they where traditional Portuguese farmers who cultivated crops and made wine. They also had one son who got into the army at age 17, after this time there is nothing to be found over him in the home and upstairs a memorial to him has been made... We are gonna unravel the story of this place together with you. Come with us on this adventure x Lesley and Jordy x

Loved this video. I love also that you are not afraid to let your emotions show. You are so gentle with everything you handle and so careful not to disturb things the way they were when you arrived. I really appreciate that in both of you. Thank you for all your wonderful videos and for sharing them with us. God bless you.
I love all the little details in this video! I was going about my morning, planning on shopping for some clothes, since the quarenteen, I had I put on a few pounds. I became upset when I saw the line to get into the store and realized I couldn't go anyway because I forgot my face mask. I came home and watched this video. It hit me hard, too. All I was thinking about was clothes to buy, then you show the woman's black clothing torn by mice, I think of her life, and the need to go out and buy my own clothes faded. Thank you for sharing this, it's just what I needed today.
Ren Willsey - What a wonderful comment.
A lot of clothes (new) do not have quality anyway unless u pay heaps still don't last i literally put my hand straight thru a long sleeve top just taking it off to shower and a hole in front have to throw out n buy a few more i have others years old still in use love n light
Everything is vanity. This kind of videos provides an idea about our future. So many things that we don't really need, but is part of our vanity. I had travelled many times around the world and both rare perfumes, which I wouldn't find were I live. 10 years after the last one bought, still the flask in the middle level. Maybe in 10 years more I finish them. Vanity of the vanities!
I always feel such sadness seeing someone's life decaying and nature taking it over. Stay safe Leslie and Jordie .
Sorry to hear that Marry :(
It gives us insight into life and death and how everything has an expiration date.
It is so sad to see these places with beautiful antiques that could have so many years of love.
But left behind to mold, rot, and fall apart.
The English word for the process after a death of a family member is mourning. Lovely little place. Thanks guys.
Thankyou for the information :)
The Bible says we have to process (or mourn) for a year? Scratching my head on that one. 🤔
But that is ok, I do love these videos. 👍🏼
Sometimes the little places are the best. Their size isn’t so overwhelming. This was a charming little house; actually not so little when you figure in the attic! What’s the longevity on wine barrels? Could it have been from 1893?
Wonderful explore! Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and healthy!!!
Hey Leslie and Jordy...this home was quite nice really for its condition...looked really quaint....enjoyed watching the video appreciated seeing the home, and as always your background music just kept it all togeather...good job👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Oh I adore the wine barrels and the press! 😘 thanks love!
Wow! Quede encantada con el video!
Very sad story, but the way you tell the story and guide us through the tour make it very beautiful as well. I love how you say this touched you emotionally. You always show such great respect to the items in the houses too! Thanks for sharing this! ❤️💜🇱🇷🇱🇺
Hey Lesley en Jordy. Mooie video. En een mooi huis. De velen die ik elke keer weer zie zijn altijd weer mooi.👍
I believe hanging over bed was a large Rosary to pray to all the saints. The things you found to make for the table we called Doilies. Also I think in the kitchen the cabinet had a orange canister and I swear that was Tupperware but don’t think it was made then so I could be wrong. I LOVE LOVE all the Beams up in the ceiling !!! Very Beautiful Homey Home ❤️❤️
You noticed a lot of things I didn't! Thank you for watching so carefully :) Kisses Lesley
You are right the orange canister is Tupperware, and I probably got mine in the 70's or 80's. Mine is yellow and I still use them.
Nancy Barnett I thought so and yes they last forever !!
Bros Of Decay well your overwhelmed with all of it and it’s hard to take it all in !! Your photographer running the camera does a great job of going slow enough to see all but not so slow we get bored so great job for you both !!! 👏🏻👏🏻
Bros Of Decay yes it is Tupperware I had them also. Thank you for the explore.
Thank you for sharing your explorations in Portugal 😊
Hi Lesley Bros of Decay, I was only at the beginning for a few moments of your video listening to your wonderful introduction, and you
already completely got me again. - Your way of talking and how you are approaching the life of the former inabitants, is once more
showing your great talent in imagining the life of these people and your incredibly deep compassion. - I am again so deeply touched.
I fully agree to you, that it is for a change very interesting to see now an explore in a smaller abandoned farmhouse of traditional farmers
in Portugal. - Can you imagine how sad and difficult it really must have been for the parents to lose their son? - Have you been at that
location also together with Danny? - Wonderful explore! I enjoyed watching. Thank you for taking us viewers on this tour through that house.
Very good camerawork by Jordy as usual. - Hugs and greetings to him too! - Wishing you all the best, peace and lots of blessings.
Stay safe and take care. - Kindest regards from Switzerland.
Willy, one thing I love about these videos is the emotion and compassion that Lesley shows when talking about what happened to the people who lived there. It shows what a thoughtful and caring young man he is, and the great respect he has for these places. Lesley's narration is excellent and soothing to listen to and Jordy's camera work is beautiful. Thank you Bros of Decay, you brothers are providing beautiful videos for us!
@@caseyflorida , Hi thank you so much! - Beautifully said. - I agree to every word you say about these great guys. - Kind regards.
You and Explomo find the most random things while exploring..this one with the x-rays in the chest in the attic... What an odditiy. Thanks for showing us another very cool place..I'll take that kiss and blow one back...Thanks Leslie.
Thank you for the good time Lesley and Jordy. Each time it is a unique moment with you.Congratulations!
I had to laugh when he said they were really really old in 1970 since I was born in 1948 and my husband was born in 1940 so we must be Ancient
haha. Those young whippersnappers!
But thats half a century ago
Unbelievable!! How sad.
Awesome video Leslie....thank u
Often in multiple story homes beds were moved to the main floor when elderly could no longer climb stairs. The prayer beads are "rosaries" (initially made from rose petals). They are used to pray prior to to sleep or upon arising by many people -- even today in Catholic homes and Churches.
You are showing my most favorite things. I have no word to thank you.
Incredible memories in that home. Thank you for this respectful video.
Another amazing video!! You show such great respect for the people that lived in the house and their belongings. You and your brother keep safe and healthy in these stressful times... God Bless!
Buen video ,me gusta mucho ver casas abandonadas e imaginarme lo bonitas que se veian habitadas.
Wanna have an ringtone 😁 Wauww good work guys, respect !
I should count Leslie's "wow" voices for the next video. It's something like wishpering in my ears. Soft voice but tho.. LOL
This video makes me emotional. Thanks guys. God bless and prtotect you.
I enjoy your presentations.
I'm 52 and laugh when you find something and call it old school or say back in the day and it's something I grew up with. The amazement you had for the small tin strainer and pan in the kitchen cabinet was too funny....those are still in stores today. I'm an antique addict, bring old pieces back to life and can never ignore an estate sale. Age is a funny thing when it comes to what each considers an artifact. Keep your eyes open for things that don't match the time period of the house. More often than not someone will move into an abandoned house for a short time period then leave some of their things when they leave and their things will look out of place. Best advice I ever got at the start of my journey was if you're not sure what something is or what it was used for don't guess or assume...take a picture (include any markings/stamp) and research. Honestly sometimes it can be the best part of the experience. When you find the true history of something (and what it would be worth today) it can blow your mind. Keep exploring....but stop making me feel old !!! By the way....I'd love to be doing it with you. I know it would be fantastic.
Not even a minute in and you stole my heart, so sad. But thank you guys so much. You and your urbex friends have become an anchor of peace in these crazy times!
Love your profile picture! Looks like the IWW badge! 👍
@@2.7petabytes thank you. you are the first on that observation 😊. Just believe in the basic ethics there
Red Dove Rising same here! We need more people to band together!
@@2.7petabytes very much so!
ANOTHER FABULOUS JOB YOU GUYS LOVED THE VIDEO KENTUCKY USA KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
I would say the large picture upstairs is a picture of an older person, maybe the owner. It looks to be from the very early 1900's.
O ok that could be true but a Portuguese friend told me of their son
@@BrosOfDecay me gustan mucho tus vídeos soy chilena ,sería muy bueno los subtítulos en español,para entender la historia de los abandonos y los lugares donde vas
12:18 - Imagine how the lady sat there, in front of the vanity mirror. Maybe for years, looking at herself, getting older, and trying to keep some fragments of youth. Sleeping in that bed, under this wonderful simple worden ceiling, after a long day of work.
And still getting older, and praying to her God and the holy Mary, while falling asleep, praying and hoping for her house, her husband, she is missing, and still getting older, her only hope, to care for herself, and fighting against her declining life and declining youth and vanishing energy, with that vanity mirror. How many hours she must have sat on the edge of the mattress? You can see a notch there.
You are so beautiful to me, did her husband once say this to here....? and she remembers it, maybe every day, closer to heaven now.
And now she is gone, and all we see are her last footprints in a lost place. Her kitchen, her sofa, last things she touched, where she lived, her bed, where she felt safe in this world. We see her life, her breath, her values, and what was keeping moving her,... and living.... Her memories....
And all of this might be gone in a short time, in a year or so.
But, thanks to Lesley and Jordy, a part of it will survive. And not die. We say, people are only dead when they are forgotten. And their life only vanishes when their heritage is gone.
Lesley and Jordy are doing a wonderful work to keep memories alive on RUclips, of the forgotten men and women. Of their lifes and heritages, tiny moments of the past, a picture, a lost room, the little dreams of a dance of a child, who is long dead, and the broken hopes of a family, or the happiness in a big house and the laughing of a happy family, long gone.
This is more than Urban Exploration. This is more than voyeurism. This is feeling and connection, and respect within it.
And not to forget the camera work, fulfilling the words, the walkthrough, anticipating the moves, great teamwork. The soft movements of the camera complete and enhance the moments. The camera work is what we SEE, it’s the visual core.
All in all, keep on, as long as you like. Your work is an enrichment.
Whatever your smokin, give me some
Cathi Wright - No, i did not intend so, it was just reflections....
Your words are so deep. They touch the deepest of my heart and almost leave me crying...
Beautifully written. You capture the essence and spirit of Bros of Decay videos. Imo, they are the leading urbex explorers whose fieldwork defines and demonstrates the power of narrative plus videography to ‘showcase’ the present human condition. It reminds the viewer to see worth in every individual’s life, beliefs, and work: what is left behind...matters...now and to what is yet to be. Amidst the depressing health and political climate in the world, it also gives me hope that as a retired researcher, my own small existence and work were not lived in vain. A definite upgrade to academic art/archeology/anthropology.
Decades ago when a person died , the members of the family (or the closest ones) had to wear black clothes for months or even, years.
In Latin America, we still have that tradition.
We had that orange tea set when I was a child! Wow
That is lusterware made from the 20's into the 1930's. Very beautiful.
Beautiful video. My goal in 2020 is to support Lesley & Jody on Patreon. This way they can continue their exploration. Bought many of their shirts...people always comment. To bring many more followers to these talented brothers. 💕
Hey guys! What an amazing job 🙏🏻 I noticed that on some things it is written in French! That’s probably because of plenty of Portuguese people immigrated to France or perhaps family came from abroad.
Greetings/groetjes from a Dutch French guy in Paris 😉
Many thanks Lesley. It's very interesting to see a neighbouring farmhouse.(I'm in Spain). Thanks for your diversity in countries. You have a lovely voice and could work as a radio announcer. I enjoy the simplicity of this home. Lots of stairs, but as people get older, their mobility is restricted. About the black clothes, it's still quite normal in places. If you have time, see the film 'Zorba, the Greek". It addresses life, death, mourning etc and is a true mirror image of Mediterranean culture. It's one of the films of my life! Greetings to you from Spain 🙋♀️😊🇪🇦
Great video, thank you for showing such respect to these lost treasures.
Sensacional,amei esse vídeo
Muito bem filmado, uma eternidade ainda muito bem preservada

i was wondering what happened to their son? Great explore, thank you
Extremely interesting video. I always look forward to your videos. Thank you guys.
Another amazing video as always guys!! 😘
Love from Australia
Love Bros of Decay! 💚💚💚💚
I love the smaller homes they disclose more of of the inner being of the home. I wonder what happened to the son. A well presented video. 🇦🇺🐨💜💜 Australia
This cup in England is typical traditional pottery ,it is called willow pattern
O that is lovely thankyou for the information Dorothy!
My parents had something similar, but the scenery was set in either China or Japan.
LOVED IT!!!! YOU BOYS DO A PERFECT JOB AS ALWAYS!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!! LOVE YALL
Thank you! Will do!
Shame, these people were poor - but honest and hard working. Bless them.
5:50 the keys on the fridge are keys to the cabinets and the doors in the home I know because I am currently restoring 2 dressers that have those same keys. It is so they can keep money or important papers or jewelry inside them so when they go on vacation they can lock their important things in there. Very nice video Lesley I loved it but then I love all your videos you and your brother do :) xxx
I love this explore. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing this information. Your so respectful of these people processions. Amazing place. Did you ever discover what became of the son.?
👏👏👏👏👏👏 awesome video & Thank You & please , please keep safe 😍
What you thought was a chicken coupe was actually a dove cote. Chicken coupes are closer to the ground.
I have watched other urbexers and I love you guys the most. From Lesley's informative commentaries to Jordy's steady hand with the camera. Btw, the prayer beads at the head of the bed is called a rosary😉 Thank you for making good quality videos
When you were looking through the drawers in the woman's bedroom, the things were so tumbled and stained it made me think: Ut oh, that's a mouse nest! It is good that you wear gloves! Another lovely video, dear boys!
Hi Bros. Been gone awhile doing other things but so nice to see you. Love the gloves and the facial hair. You are such a hotty.
Another great explore. 💜
Your videos are my favorite on youtube! You take your time, look at everything & are so respectful ! Thank you for the job you do! Pat yourself on the back !!
That's not for chickens, that's for pigeons, the door would be closed because of predators, those holes with ramps where for the pigeons to get in and out. I'm portuguese.
Hey, I think what you saw on the second floor was a COLUMBARIUM for CARRIER PIDGEONS...!!!...just advisin'...
Muito lindo armário
Awesome 👌
Another great adventure! Regarding the "bread oven"... I couldn't quite figure it out. Did they have to climb into it to use it? The hole was was in the back, off to the left...
The access panel is outside for the coal, wood, and/or straw and the bread would have been placed in the alcove entry area from inside the home on a long 4 foot handle paddle board. Common in older homes in Portugal and Italy and other European countries.
@@gloriahanes6490 Thanks for the info!
My mother had a set of doll dishes in that orange color that I was never allowed to play with.
That is a rosary on the wall over the bed.
Thank you for giving me the name
I cringe when people call them Rosemary beads!

I loved your tour...but mostly, I love your voice, it is so soothing to hear in these hard times when we are so isolated and alone. Love you, man.
Good vídeo 🤗🤗
Thank you xx
I need to show you bigger wine barrels!! You guys are gonna lose it 😁 great video. And yeah, the house is very touching!!
Maybe that chicken coop was for pigeons, homing pigeons. They were used long time ago to carry messages in war times. Often also as hobby of course 🤗
Portuguese are well known for their racing pigeons...even here in Canada. We had two families on the street where I grew up that had them. Always loved watching them when they came out for their exercise in the afternoons. 🙂
O wow thanks that is a great point!
Pigeons are also very delicious! My grandfather ate them after WWI, but then so many people in Italy were eating pigeons the birds were no more in the center square. This is when he decided it was time to move to America and work for Henry Ford after receiving a request for young men to work in America. So many lives were lost in WWI, the need for young men in factories in America became a crisis so recruiting help from foreign countries was a plan devised by Henry Ford himself.
Belíssimo lutres
Thanks for sharing this beautiful old farmhouse. Lesley I like the way you show such respect for the people who once lived there and their belongings. I just love your videos and taking us to these places. Thanks again and god bless you two. Be safe in your travels 💜👍🙏
Any background piano player drives me up the wall like in this video. Commercials use it to manipulate emotions and the constant krazy droning of it is maddening as a background noise. Unless an actual great composition I hate piano musicians doing this background nervous noise making!!
Love it
Lovely to hear :)
You guys are awesome
You both show so much respect for these homes and the things left in them
Music is calming
Thank you for this lovely comment :) x
Like ur video's thank u
I love you guys you are so lovely so sensative with objects you find xxxx
Thank you very much Dorothy, that is a lovely comment of yours :) x
I wish your videos were longer with a little bit more details. Would you please write a brief description under your videos? These places are so amazing. You are also super amazing.

Hola, saludos desde Bélgica
I did a little google search and found a photo of Portuguese soldiers in WWI wearing uniforms a lot like this one, so I wonder if the son could have been in that war and gone missing in action. I wonder when the parents were born...

You guys do such a great job on all your videos. Your details are great to.. I just hope fame doesn’t take you two over and start acting like most of the other ones do now. You guys are sweet and you seem as though your just as curious and surprised at everything as we are and that is your innocence.... STAY as you are... please.. from Tammy Duncan..
Did you miss their bathroom.. just wondering.. what a beautiful house.. sad though😢 .
They do the same in Greece also with the black clothes for mourning
O wow I think many countries in Europ had this practise
@@BrosOfDecay here in Latin America, as well.
Many places in Europe still adhere to these traditions of wearing black for mourning once a loved one has passed.

I really enjoy watching your tours of these precious homes. The beads you talk about are called rosaries, each bead is a prayer
Leslie I adore you! You’re so respectful and you literally say what I’m thinking as I follow you around your explores. Fantastic little find x
The brown tea cups and saucers you liked are called Lusterware. They were made here in the states by the Fire King Co.
Wonder why the son left at such an early age and never returned. Many times kids leave right after high school to escape poverty or abuse
Hello from Canada!!! Awesome and touching explore. Enjoying your adventures each and every week. Thank you Gentlemen!!
I can understand a prevailing feeling of sadness going through a long abandoned home with personal possessions left unattended but there is also such respect in the way that you and your brother conduct yourselves that I feel a comforting sense of remembrance for the departed as we follow you through looking at their everyday objects and their private spaces.
