Very cool John. One of the things they said Steve Jobs excelled at was giving people what they wanted BEFORE they know they wanted it. This video is a terrific example of that skill. Well done.
This is how a well dressed man laced his shoes in the 50s & 60s. I'm 57 and my father laced his shoes this way.... He also wore a suit everyday and sported a pinky ring. He looked like Dean Martin, smokes cigarettes and drank Scotch on the rocks... classier times...😉
This is very important from a traditional perspective regarding oxford shoes. I personally use it on all my dress shoes and for that matter on one pair of high top chuck taylors. It's just one of those details that can make the difference in looking totally put together or not.
I want those brown leather shoes. I have hardly anything fashionable, I need to know how to get nice stuff on a budget, and that's difficult with size13 feet and long skinny body, leg's and arms. But I like the videos cuz I hope to one day be able to look nice while looking my age Anyhow. Love your channel. Very well done.
Have you ever thought about having some fun with your Strands by using colored laces? Say for instance a purple shirt with purple laces. Last Christmas I put red laces in my Johnston & Murphy black Meltons to go with a Holiday tie I had with red in it . It tied the whole ensemble together.
John, what do you think about track suits? I want to wear this for quick runs to the grocer or pick up a restaurant order. I was thinking a cool black track suit with white sneakers....maybe the top is a zip up hoodie. Do you wear this? Do you wear glasses? I think glasses have come into their own as a fashion statement. I have a couple of styles. A perk is they can make one look younger. If you’ve aged around the eyes glasses can offset that quite a bit.......
What are your thoughts on colored shoestrings on dress shoes? I found some nice colors and want to change up from time to time. I love your channel and your tips!
Hi John, I’m old school and still love to wear my old Florsheim Imperial Kenmoor shoes. These are 5 nail v-cleat shoes with the double soles (model 93602 & 92604). So far, I’ve only worn these shoes when I am wearing a suit. But can I wear these shoes with casual clothes?
Hey, thanks for your comment! I plugged in both model numbers into Google. They're both Derby's, so they do fall on the more casual side anyway. The soles (in my opinion) are a bit bulky, but if you own a brown pair, I'd say you could wear them with a dark pair of denim. I might suggest looking at a newer, more streamlined style in an oxford design. If you have a Nordstrom local to you, maybe take a look at Allen Edmonds, Magnanni or To Boot NY.
Thanks for your comment John. I already own AE and other nice shoes. If you haven’t seen vcleat.com you might want to check it out for high quality shoes. Let me know what you think.
Nice, there is another way where one of the laces goes to the opposite top hole and then the other lace loops across the holes. Probably not a good explanation.

I was just going to search out a video tutorial on this, and you delivered to the day. Love this channel. And you're (almost) a San Diego guy now too
Best demo on learning this I’ve seen. I watched about a half a dozen others!
Show me how to do it my brother! Im 64, love to dress stylishly and most of all appropiately, looks like i found the right man! Gratefully Eddy, 😎
Thank you!
Doesn't this remind you of the well dress men of the 50s & 60s??? It's my father revisited...lol
I've never thought about doing straight bar laces but I'm going to try. Thanks for the tutorial. By the way, big fan of those shoes.
Thank you for your comment!
That's something I've been wanting to try. Cool video bud.
How to loosen and adjust these bar laces. I find it difficult. Do you have to go back and undo the lacing completely?

I love this technique. I will do it on all my dressy shoes.

I looked up a video and bar laced my Strand AEs too.

Yes, it's called "The Shoe Shop Lace" since most dress shoes come out of the shop laced up like that.
