If anyone else is interested, B&H still has these in stock in the US, with the free activation card. They also have another more expensive keyboard that has the same deal. I just ordered mine, and should get it in five days.
Good question. I have it installed on two different devices and there are no problems. But I don’t know what the official policy is from Blackmagic Design on that.
@@RussellSmiththank u so much for quick reply really appreciate it.. one more thing.. can they both work simultaneously or you have to logout from one computer first to work on other
@@jeetinj I’ve never used them simultaneously but I’d be amazed if it were a problem. Write to Blackmagic if you want to know for sure about the license terms and agreements.
HI Russell, Thank you for this video. Is upgrading from the free version of resolve to the studio version easy? Do you just install the Studio version and it automatically converts the free version to the studio version or are there extra steps you need to take? It seems to me when I use my mouse to move around the timelines, the playhead jumps a little. Do you find the jog wheel much smoother and more accurate for placing the playhead and making trims? Do you use the Close Up key in the Cut Page? I tried using it and it messes up the viewing frame playing through the clip for the close up. I am about to upgrade to v17 from v16 but I am also thinking of upgrading to the studio version. Do you uses the Close Up key? Also it seems to me the Cut page is great for seeing the whole video and making markers and splitting the clips but things like using Dynamic Zoom and key frames are better from the Edit Page. Do you agree?
Hi Gayle. I'm glad you enjoyed the video! If I remember correctly, I needed to uninstall Resolve and then install Resolve Studio. But other than that, there were no extra steps. Apart from entering a license key I guess. I don't have the problem you mention where the playhead jumps using the mouse. The jog wheel is good in jog and scroll modes. In shuttle mode, it's OK but a little difficult to control. Although a recent firmware update for the Speed Editor has really improved shuttle mode. I do use the Close Up key. I've had no problems with it. Although it zooms in too much for my liking. The Cut page is for making rough edits. Dynamic Zoom works the same on the Cut page as on the Edit page. But to use keyframes, you'll need to use the Edit page. I prefer to use the Cut page to lay down my initial edit and then use the Edit page for any fine tuning. In general I like how the Cut page works. But it really requires you to think differently about editing if you want to take full advantage of it. I might do a video on my whole editing process soon. I hope that helps!
Thank you for making this video! I've been going back and forth as to whether I need Studio, but this sealed the deal. The little jogging wheel looks super useful. The best feature in resolve is the new Cut page.
What software do you use to edit your RUclips videos?
I use Filmora.
@@SavageGothamChess Good choice!
Premiere pro
@Kyle Hardy oh dear.
Capcut and funimate
I was able to get my question answered in an online chat with B&H. I just wish RUclips wasn't so messed up. Thanks for your help.
Glad you got your issue resolved.

Good VIDEO Russell. Love Davinci Resolve but cannot get it. As it is not capable of my laptop 👍🏻👍🏻🤘🤘😔😔
Thanks! Yes, it really needs good hardware.
But I run DaVinci on i3 10th gen internal graphics, yes it does crash but when I make playback quarter resolution it doesn't crash nearly as much
I just ordered a set after your video. Thank you for sharing
Great to hear!
Is this offer still available anywhere? Only heard of it now and it sounds like amazing value. Would love to get in on it if it's still possible.
I was looking for this thanks
No problem :)
Thank you for Info

The Speed Editor takes some getting used to and it's not perfect. But a few months in and I'd find it difficult to live without it.
This video is very use full and amazing.
Thanks!
This is a great tutorial.
