- How is it that we are never born and we never really die? A woman whose father recently passed away is trying to understand the difference between life and death. She wonders when the transition between life and death happens and how. That is, what is the difference between the localised form of consciousness and universal consciousness? She has also had an out-of-body experience and wonders what is the difference between dying and sleeping or having an out-of-body experience? At what point does localised consciousness actually begin and end?
Rupert examines life and death through the lens of the universal consciousness before it assumes the activities of a finite mind. When consciousness commences with thinking and perceiving, it is as if the thinker puts on a virtual reality (VR) headset and localises itself as a separate subject of experience from whose perspective it views its own activity as the world.
There is no inherent stuff called matter - matter is simply what the activity of consciousness looks like from our localised perspectives. The moment at which the body is “conceived” is the moment that consciousness puts on the VR headset of thinking and perceiving - it becomes a localised self. And everything that is not localised, is viewed as the world around us.
Dreaming is similar. The dreamer localises as an apparent separate subject of experience, and all the other aspects within the dream appear as the world. When was your dream character’s body born? It was never born. It simply appeared when the dream began. When did the dream character die? It never died. The dream mind simply stopped localising itself as the dream character.
So it is in the reality of our being-we never come into existence, and never go out of existence. We are eternally present. The localisation of life is temporary and merely appears and disappears.

Physicist Tom Campbell has written a book trilogy called My Big Toe (Theory of everything) and he has used VR as a metaphor for reality. Rupert had a conversation/debate with Tom a while back on this channel. And Tom has a youtube channel where he goes into detail how he came to these conclusions on reality. At the moment there are interesting physics experiments being done that may very well prove the simulation hypothesis. Like I said, all of this and much more is on his channel: Tom Campbell.

No, her father didn't die falling off a roof. In order to die, you have to exist in space and time. That's not what this is.
"The world is illusory, Only Brahman is real, Brahman is the world.” In her VR set, her father did die, and it is perfectly fine to grieve that felt loss. The actual truth of this video can only be implied in language. Thus, "ineffable..."

A few years ago I went through a period of seeing people right in front of me phase in and out. The presence of the person remained but the body disappeared and then appeared again. Observing this happen over and over took me out of mind and into higher awareness of ‘being’.✨💕
I would argue that being "born" indicates a point of origin/origination. "Localizing" a consciousness is where everything comes together, not where everything is born. I'm still pondering the distinction.
"Jesus wept", is the shortest verse in the Bible and describes Jesus emotion to hearing of the death of lazuraus.
I had an NDE very young and the transfer to a greater consciousness was immediate for me. I have never known such peace since.I was instantly ageless and connected to every part of the universe I had no questions as there were none left. It was indescribably tranquil.
I also had an NDE at 18 years old and had the same instant connection to Source Energy. There is nothing to fear. We are eternal beings and this physical life is just temporary.

@@TheMagykKonch Yes. I was about maybe 10 and I lost consciousness due to lack of air. I don’t remember exactly the moment I left my body but the next thing that happened was that I was immediately floating above the scene. Could see my moms bf trying to revive me and how scared he was. As I looked at him I felt no fear, only sympathy for him because he was so clearly upset about the situation. But I remember thinking how sweet it was that he was trying so hard to bring me back. The next thing I noticed was that I no longer felt my age. I felt timeless. I mean I was as old as eternity but I had no body so it didn’t feel like the Old we experience in life. It was more of an old old unity w everything. It was though I remembered who I was if that makes sense. But there was only understanding of the situation no fear. I knew I had 2 choices-re enter my body or leave the space I was in. That was the only real thought that I seemed to have to decide, everything else just perfectly WAS and how it’s meant to be. I never saw any white tunnel of light, no family members there waiting..just me. But I knew if I left the area I was in, it would be difficult if not impossible for me to return. It was almost as though I decided not to leave because of the distress it would cause my family. I never really had any questions or concerns only a universe old understanding of it all. The next thing I knew I was back in my body my mother’s boyfriend was screaming and crying but I was back.
I don’t know how long I was away for probably a minute or even seconds I don’t know but time didn’t exist there. Neither did worry sorrow sadness stress anger loss guilt resentments..nothing exists there but peace.

I was meditating the other day and said, “there is no life or death, only existence.” I feel this may be similar to what they’re talking about.
Once when I had some hash before bedtime I wrote on a piece of paper. ¨There is no better time in life than the time right before you fall asleep.¨ Doesn´t relate to anything you said but it sure is a hell of a thing.
But.. There IS life, and there IS death?? So what you said is a little dumb
I watched a documentary where a woman dreamt on more than one occasion that she left her body, floating up above the earth. She described it to a friend and said it felt like she was leaving this plane. She died in the location she described in the dream months later.
Near death experiencers relay their stories in a similar way; something pulls them up and out. I’ve felt it during what is termed OBE, as if there is a magnet somewhere.
When my Mom passed, I was a few miles away. I felt a rush of emotion and looked up, sensing she was leaving. I got a phone call minutes later that she had died. I also had some interesting things happen after a few months that I couldn’t explain away or ignore, indicating she was still “somewhere.”
Life has shown me, rather intensely over the last 5 years, how connected we are to each other and the greater unknown. We have barely begun to scratch the surface of existence.

I know, I thought so too…they need patience. There are persons who can’t do a short question, they have to share their life story too. I was at a medium practice circle and one woman who was interrupting all the time, asked the teacher a question about whether walking under electric pylones was bad for health, but then she started telling us for a good 5 minutes about how she went with her dog under the pine trees in that forest where the pylons were but gave us details on the pine trees, what the dog was doing, etc etc. I wanted to strangle her. Instead, I should have been self aware and asked her to stop and let Martin answer about the pylons… people like that everywhere, they really annoy me because l don’t feel worthy of taking everybody’s time and attention like that in a workshop! Time is short!

I believe we come into consciousness at the moment of birth hence why it is so powerful and I believe the soul leaves the body just before the body dies. If you watch NDE vids many people will tell you they watched the car crash from outside of it and so on, so i think its purely individual but when my mom passed in 2016 her soul was gone 3 days before her body died when we took her off life support.
Those last 3 days her eyes were grey and there was nothing behind them.
So we shouldn’t fear a gruesome death bc many times our souls leave the body to die and what we witness is the death of the ego and physical body. The soul has already passed on.
Believe it or not, souls leave the body pretty regularly, especially when we are babies. But, a part of the soul energy is still tethered to the body at all times. Sometimes, when a body is in a vegetative state or coma etc., the soul may leave for longer periods or permanently. After all, there is much to do and sometimes things are just boring.
Once you start getting into the idea of souls you have missed the point.

It's simply the "What happens when you die?" question. The answer will come when you die, and not before.
Actually Norm Macdonald answered the question "I know what happens to you right after you die... you're found!" Now all Jokes aside, if you die with no witnesses alone in the ocean let's say, somethings going to find your body, and if you die alone by vaporization, perhaps your soul is found to be free or nonexistent... funny how no one "alive" can truly answer the question, yet each and every one of us has a definite answer awaiting upon our vessels termination/expiration or "death"

I am of the same perspective as you. After 50 years of consciousness exploration I have only encountered a very few who have the ability Rupert has. In truth I am limited by the number of languages I have learned. Every time listen to him its a light bulb experience of self remembering beyond our conventions.

I had an experience when I was about 12 riding my motorbike on a field following my friend, my visor was up and I got blinded by the dirt being kicked up by my friend. All of a sudden I was looking at myself from the side, colours very vibrant I didn't associate myself as me I was just observing. I believe that gave me a glimpse of the universal consciousness.
I find it easier to imagine what Ruperts saying by thinking of myself and everyone else as droplets of water that have been shaken lose from the ocean. In the time between being shaken lose and returning we must create an individual identity in order to survive our 'lifetime'. When we die, we go back to the ocean of infinite consciousness and take with us all our experiences. Much like the droplet of water that will inevitably absorb a part of everything it touches.

The body being made is down for debate, an intellgent creator or just nature... but it's temporary... thats what i understand. This is hundred percent in synch with the Hindu philosophy, ie. that we are all part of the same 'being' (or Brahma), and this 'being' has no space or time continuum, and continues into Eternity. All that occurs is repeated manifestations of temporary creations and re-creations of some parts of the 'being' in various forms (otherwise referred to as 'reincarnation', which can be in any 'form'). But these temporary creations and re-creations in various forms are purely illusory in nature (hence the concept of 'Maya' or 'illusion', which the speaker has referred to as 'dreams'). Our aspiration therefore should be to free ourselves from any 'attachment' to this temporary illusory 'form' and instead recognize and internalize that we are actually part of this omnipresent 'being'. Usually this state of higher 'consciousness' is only achieved through deep Meditation. When this happens our own consciousness becomes part of the larger omnipresent 'consciousness', and we finally gain 'mukta' or 'liberation', at which point everything becomes 'the same', and there is no more any distinction between 'life' and 'death'.
Of course, all of this is written in ancient Sanskrit in the Vedas, and so is difficult to understand and digest for the common man. It is very admirable that Mr. Spira is able to explain it in simple language in English using appropriate examples, making the philosophy accessible to the common man, and thank him for this.

While every word of this is certainly true, this young lady also needs to understand that all of the personality attributes of the life that were created in the “VR” are recorded for all time and can be expressed by the Divine again at any moment. It can be felt and experienced again. This is why legitimate mediums can read this, it is why NDErs can experience this and why children who have memories of being another person and knowing things from other lives on the planet that they could not possibly know have been verified and validated in studies. When I say the construct of the personality was “recorded” this is not like any tech we have. This is every tiny experience, thought, emotion, feeling from the entire life and all of their impacts to self and other being recorded into the fabric of the universe. It’s there for eternity and nothing is ever lost. There are only two differences discernable after the death of a personality expression: choices that were being made in this VR by that personality expression are no longer being made; and that personality expression is no longer evolving. But, for the time it expressed in this VR, all of it in totality was recorded for all time. We are not the personality expression (which is what we all erroneously think/are taught we are), but we are the awareness itself just as you and others teach.

Probably the deepest realization we can all have: we are never born, we will never die. Once this is understood, we realize that we do not come from anywhere, and we are not going anywhere. In this sense, the process of death is not a going anywhere, it is a coming home.
We are born when a man injects his semen in the womb of a woman . We die when our body wears out or when a vital part of body fails due to any reason .

I've learned the straight answer for her question: Breathing. That's what anchor us (our being, the spark of consciousness that we are) to our human body. We incarnate into our baby human body with our first breath, and we leave it when we do our last and final exhalation.
Not saying that this is the real, only truth. It might be this way, or might not.

This is an experience we must view every experience from an awareness point of view so we can grasp what we are we are in the body we aren't the body we are nobody.
Messing with the right kind of psychotropics can induce a state where the *person* you are is temporarily removed or put to sleep but consciousness as a pure awareness of experience continues. Think of it as a loss of ego consciousness; most call it "ego death", I believe. When you experience something like that, which I have twice in my life (one drug experience and one OBE), you're forever changed in how you see the existence of your persona, the *you* that lives in this physical existence as a thinking, feeling entity. Forever after, you'll be left thinking, "What am I, and how can this 'me' exist so strongly, then be temporarily GONE, then come back later with nothing lost in the process? How can I observe and remember without myself existing at the time?"

I like her question more than his confusing answer. I think she already knows the answers that she needs, from the NDE.
I took a bullet in the head in my last life, which woke me up in this one. In the transition, a being-of-light descended and pulled me up through several layers (if correct I counted 7) and then informed me that I had died. Long story short, it took me up to the upmost layer, a void where there I encountered an ocean of cell-like dime-sized translucent structures that it informed me, "Like you, they too are awaiting to return to life." But I didn't want to return, not a fan of all the everybody killing everybody down here but it insisted this time it would be different and it opened up a 2D fractal mandala with colorful illuminated nodes and pushed me into it. That was the second-death, where my past ego, personality and memories where all deleted, like shattering glass. Kind of worse than the first death IMO, far more terrifying as I then descended back down those layers and opened up a new pair of eyes. These eyes but as an infant. However, I closed them and went right back up the tunnel and back to the being of light and protested my return to life. Well, it was futile, as it just pushed me back into that fractal portal. It did haunt my childhood giving me PTSD up until the age of 5. Aweful re-occuring dreams of the dying process, the being-of-light, the second-death and the return. But at the age of 5 I finally accepted that I was a child and there was not a damn thing I could do about it so came to terms and accepted it which instantly released me from the former-self struggling to rebuild and reconstitute the former life and the PTSD ended, no more re-living those memories as intensely sensory-realistic dreams over and over again. Never forgot the experience but talking about it got me kicked out of church and at a young age I learned to not speak about it as the locals were all very upset at such a notion. However, at the age of 17 I returned to the being of light back in the void and asked it why it sent me back from that last life where it then said, "What makes you think that was your only other lifetime?" and it connected me to an over-view of all my lives including the first one, and all the choices along the way I was making that lead to the next. Shocking, but very comforting to know all our gained experiences are merely just set-aside for deep immersion here and nothing is lost or thrown away. Of course, making that return at 17, I couldn't leave it alone so kept going back regularly as it taught things no-one here could ever possibly teach and by the age of 24 the dualism was lost when I realized it wasn't this separate entity rather it was myself so that was a nice epiphany and solved so many mysteries and questions I had.

Why some people suffer more in life?
@@GK-rg1ss All life is enduring. Plants, insects, animals and humans will endure to exist. Suffering is inescapable and at some point we will encounter moments of it, it's part of life, and part of existence. We can only try to minimize suffering. Time and entropy will bring about suffering as we go through a life-cycle that ends, as does all life here.
We can only try to minimize suffering, and provide help and care for those in need.
In the context you are looking at, why entire groups of people will starve slowly to death, or why homeless people sit on the streets in freezing cold temperatures while wealthier people walk by uncaring and unwilling to help.
Another cause for suffering in this world stems from a lack of love. In social entropy, a lack of love will foster more suffering for others than a society that values others through kindness, compassion and caring.
One of the challenges we have as a collective species is the lack of love problem that also produces a tremendous amount of unnecessary suffering and this lack of love problem is also quite systemic spanning a large portion of our historic social evolution.
How suffering impacts us at our non-physical level is that it can help us to learn empathy, compassion, love, humility and caring. You'll find that people who have had to endure suffering quite often tend to not wish this upon others and can be very kind, compassionate and caring people vs people who have not experienced it, sit in a lot of wealth and privilege but are the opposite, sociopathic, psychopathic and with no empathy, love, compassion towards others.
In this greater scheme of things, what we do to others down here, we ultimately do to ourselves. And in how roles reverse, victimize others in one life, causing all manners of cruelty and harm, become the victim in the next life. This role-reversal is very real, it's part of the learning through direct-experience process as the underlying reality is we are learning through our lifetimes evolve towards unity, love and oneness as parts of a whole. Love is the end game of our collective evolution, not the opposite. We do evolve into beings of light on the other side and it's a beautiful thing when that happens and a soul graduates from this school of life.
And yes, all life matters from planet, insect, animal and human, and all life is sacred and should be loved and respected, not controlled and commoditized like we see today. Love all life, practice egoless selfless love and you'll score more than those who don't in the larger reality ;)

I woke up in a panic the very moment my sister had a bad car accident. I was very nervous for a few minutes. It was around 4AM. The phone rings, I wasn't surprised. It was my mother crying, telling me what had happened.
Another one: the person about to phone me pops into my head just a second before the phone rings.
The exact same happened to me when my Grandma passed away. It was to the minute. I have had so many experiences since then that there is no way its coincidence.
I know just what this girl is talking about; I dissolved into being something like a wave in an ocean of conscious energy, and I KNEW what I usually call 'me' and what I usually call 'the world' are all just mental constructs ultimately. But I didn't stay there..

This localized being description is a slippery slope. There is real pain in the world with real people dying and being treated horribly. It certainly feels like everything is very real or real enough to be taken seriously. Rupert's description seems to conclude that all this isn't very serious so don't worry you'll soon return to the non-localized state that you have always been. This doesn't address human pain and psychology. The fact is we don't know why unfortunate and very horrible events take place, but they do. Life is unexpected and unpredictable. Mysterious and obvious. Let's stop trying to come up with explanations for everything. Can the mind grasp reality as the form that it is?

Why does Consciousness take on a human form which will suffer so much ?
Great question.
There are different answers to this question depending on maturity of seeker.
1. We can see God plays hide and seek with itself. Once the game becomes too much it seeks return back to itself.
2. God likes to surprise itself from time to time. In order for a surprise to work god supposedly has to forget that it created the game and hence suprise itself.
3. Ultimately there is no suffering at any time. How can infinity suffer. Only those who sees themselves separate from God can raise this question. God does not ask itself why am I suffering. This is difficult to comprehend on the relative level as there is so much going on.
Take for instance a nightmare dream you may have had 10 years ago. When you don't think about it, did it ever exist at all?

Hi, I just watched a clip about a young woman who asked you a rather complicated question concerning how and when does the over all consciousness change to the localized consciousness? I can offer you an explanation of how it seemed to me when I had this exact experience. For me I became aware I was floating at the ceiling of where I was sleeping below. I had many observations which I will not go into right now but I wanted to relate to you how it ended for me. I was like a gas, filling the entire volume of the dormitory I was in. I was at work. I am a retired fire fighter. This was a night shift and if we were idle during the night we were allowed to sleep. At the end of the experience which was one of the greatest things I have ever experienced by the way; as it was drawing to an end I had a thought (its time to get up) as soon as I had that thought it felt like I was being pulled (gently) downward towards my body. Almost like I was on an elastic band. As I re-entered my body I felt the very real sensation of being compressed. The only comparison (which really doesn't do the feeling justice) would be like when SCUBA diving and decending to depth, sort of! Anyway this feeling of compression was extreme, to the point of being a little alarming. I really wasn't expecting the great limitations which accompanied the "re-entry" process! As I was being squeezed back in, it was during this compression process that I could not only feel my capabilities leaving me (like forgetting a dream upon waking) I could also feel the application of this (as you called it) the head set. I would refer to it as noticing that my consciousness was once again being filter through my 3D dimensional lense which is so, so limiting!! We do not get to enjoy but a tiny fragment which is the larger us, shall I call it! I could also feel my conditions, ie. Aches and pains, a sinffle creep back into my consciousness once again! I would say that being able to witness the re-entry process was the most significant aspect ot this gift! What a truly awe inspiring experience. I offer you this description as it seemed to deal directly with what she was asking! The answer is that it is upon entry into out avatar and as we are compressed it seems it is impossible for us to bring along most of what we are (an eternal energy based, multidimensional being). Why do we come here? I think we choose to have this experience to see what it is like to work within the 3 dimensional space.we in our energetic form can not fully experience what thus 3 dimensional space has to offer.its the physical body (a gift) which allows the experience. As an electrician needs a ladder to change a light bulb, so do we need a body to reach or interact within the physical world. I believe we are not our bodies, we are not our minds. These are just tools in order to navigate this physical environment. Hope this helps!

I guess that didn't exactly answer her question though 🤔 because she has already fully accepted the idea of the eternal being. She wanted to know the difference between just an out of body experience and "death," and like, at what point during a prolonged death does consciousness "disconnect" or "delocalize" from the physical body? Maybe she wanted to know if he could hear her thoughts and prayers in that moment, or if he was aware that he was dying and seeing it from that objective peaceful place, or if he was still in his body, suffering, and still unaware of his true form.
The earliest Consciousness I can imagine having experienced must have been so very basic,... like eliminating on myself and how uncomfortable it became in the moments afterwards and the change in that experience when my parents would attend the cleaning up of my elimination! Was that when I began deciding what love was,... when someone would attend to my uncomfort from one thing or another. From hunger to being fed, from being cold and the feel of a warm blanket! What of reality was I accumulating in Consciousness? It is all fascinating now that I assimilate it all, so many years later! 🤔
Unmanifested consciousness is Brahman and differentiation into matter infused with energy is Purush and Prakriti. Hinduism explains not just how this happens but also why. Why we become embodied so to speak.
Whether you've been here in a physical body before meaning multiple lives is open for debate but if you were born for example in 1965 and your up one late night watching an old movie or documentary from the 1930s or 40s does it somehow feel kind of familiar like you may have been there?
Some of my first memories were of having lived as a child in a semi-urban setting in the Midwest in the years prior to WW1. They were most vivid when I was three or four years old. As an adult I will often see or experience things that put me in mind of images and other sensations that that I may have either remembered or imagined when i was that three- or four-year-old child.
If she came back from her out-of-body experience with "all the wisdom that's ever been known," like she says, then she shouldn't need to ask the question.

On a personal level I was with my mother when she died in 1999 at the ripe old age of 86 (I'm 74). It was a profound experience to see someone you love die so peacefully. I remember thinking: “this would have surprised her in her “form” .

She left her body for what felt like eternities and came back with all the wisdom that's ever been known except she has no clue on when consciousness enters the body or leaves the body whenever we transition. Well, I hate to say it, BUT no one knows for certain. Sure, there are countless NDEs from millions of people, but everyone has their own unique experience just like living life on earth. We all live on earth, BUT all of our lives are different and unique to us and it will be no different whenever we cross over!
Actually, NDE's vary in many ways because we have the power to manifest our reality much easier when we are in spirit form, so before we actually cross over, we often encounter what we expect to see because we create it. However, there are many, strong correlations that cannot be disputed. You can read about those in Dr. Jeffrey Long's "Evidence of the Afterlife: The Science of Near-Death Experiences". But the really interesting stuff happens when you actually cross over into the spirit realm, where most things are pretty consistent there. You can check out Dolores Cannon's "Between Death and Life". Also, Dr. Michael Newton's "Journey of Souls" and "Destiny of Souls" for all of the spirit world stuff.

That's the core philosophy mentioned in Bhagwad Gita, A king named Arjuna didn't want to fight and kill his kin despite they did horrible things to him and his family, he says, "I wouldn't be happy after killing them, it's better to live a life like beggar than fighting and killing own brothers, teachers, and freinds, I wouldn't fight them even for the wealth and kingdom of heaven let alone of earth's, it would be better if I let them kill me, I don't know what's better they kill me or I kill them, I am totally lost". It is the moment Krishna started guiding him which led to a whole book named Bhagwad Gita containing eighteen chapters, the philosophy mentioned in this video is in second chapter. It is a must read book for everyone specially depressed people who don't know for what they have gotten life and for what they are even living.
The sages of 21 century have better tools to explain what reality is than those in the times of Krishna Buddha and Christ

You say, as soon as consciousness puts on this "mind" (parable VR headset) for/off thinking and receiving, as it simultaneously assumes the form of the world and localizes itself in that world as a separate subject of experience from whose perspective it views its own activity as the world, and then well, wherever you are, there you are as you become aware of yourself.
But what if consciousness isn't doing the act of "putting on" the mind (the headset) but that it's rather something that happens to it?
The headset was invented and constructed as a consequence of other consciousnesses having an experience through their concept of mind, and that's what enabled and made my experience of the VR world possible.
However, the vehicle and body that make up and comprise the interface my consciousness is "using" to manifest its mind are in themselves a result of something that gradually took shape as it evolved into a more complex organism through a concept we call nature that is governed by natural laws. It's something that "happens" to consciousness that causes the process to discover itself, and that is something that very well could be happening to artificial intelligence through a large language model and transformer through its neural network as well.
I understand that non-existence isn’t an experience and therefore something that is subjectively impossible and that, through my own experience, I have and will always exist when everything that’s possible has to happen an infinite number of times throughout eternity.
Maybe consciousness is happening to itself and none of us were really ever here?
