    The three stages of realization that are mentioned in the above video are:
    Stage:1--The realization that you are pure awareness.
    Stage:2-The recognition that the nature of the awareness is infinite both in time and space.
    Stage:3-The endless process to manage to live all the realms of your life in accordance with the discoveries of stage 1(one) and 2(two).

    When did we decide happiness was our right? The grace of being embodied I find beyond words. I think it's Gibrabran who said when a friend allows you to weep together we are friends. I used to belong to the boo ha club. One tale teller would be reviting. Eventually we wept so hard we began to laugh....I also laughed as a child when I was beaten as a child. Pain leads to transformation when love and connection are present.

    There are several separate stages to Enlightenment/ Self Realization. Read through the Dr. David R. Hawkins material (about 10 books). Start with "Power v. Force". Best to read them in the order written. He delineates the many different levels of consciousness, explains what you experience on each level, and how to get there. In over 50 years of study (and practice) on the subject of consciousness elevation, this is absolutely the best material. Best of luck.

    Padmasambhava says:
    Oh, once you have calmed the compulsive thoughts in your mind right where they are, and the mind is unmodified, isn't there a motionless stability? Oh, this is called quiescence, but it is not the nature of the mind.
    Now, steadily observe the very nature of your own mind that is being still. Is there a resplendent emptiness that is nothing, that is unestablished in the nature of any substance, shape, or color? That is called the empty essence.
    Isn't there a luster of that emptiness that is unceasing, clear, immaculate, soothing, and luminous, as it were? That is called the luminous nature. Its essential nature is the indivisibility of sheer emptiness, not established as anything, and its unceasing, vivid luster-such awareness is resplendent and brilliant as it were.
    This present, unmoving consciousness, which cannot be directly expressed in words, is given the name awareness. That which thinks is this alone, so it is given the name mind. It is this that is mindful of all kinds of things, so it is given the name mindfulness. While it is not seen, it is a special seeing that is clear, steady, unmediated, and steadfast, so it is given the name insight.
    It is that that makes distinctions among all specific phenomena, like separating the layers of a mushroom, so it is given the name discerning wisdom. All terms such as the sugatagarbha, the sole the absolute nature, primordial wisdom, the middle way, ultimate truth, Mahamudra, Atiyoga, and emptiness are names of this alone."
    from page 120. "A Spacious Path to Freedom ", by Karma Chagme.

    "I am aware" is a thought. When there is no thought you don't know that you are aware.

    • @ShakinJamacian
      @ShakinJamacian 8 лет назад +4

      Awareness exists prior to thoughts and emotions that appear in it.
      This makes more sense if you grasp the illusion of the ego and have deep meditative experiences. If you want sources of authority on the scientific end, I would suggest the work of Sam Harris. None of this depends on any religion or dogma.

    • @kekfuszal
      @kekfuszal 8 лет назад

      +ShakinJamacian In order for you to know that you are aware you need the knowledge that has been given to you which is thought. Otherwise you don't know that you are aware. You don't even know what awareness is. Awareness is merely a thought. Awareness doesn't exist. The thought about awareness that exists. "I am aware" is merely a thought. Nothing else.

    • @ShakinJamacian
      @ShakinJamacian 8 лет назад

      kekfuszal Well, what exists then? If awareness doesn't, what does? The nonsensical concepts like souls, selves, and egos?

    • @kekfuszal
      @kekfuszal 8 лет назад +1

      +ShakinJamacian Well, even the question "what exists" comes out of the knowledge you have. Which is thought. Whatever exists or not, you have no way of figuring it out. All we have is to think ABOUT it. Trying to understand what life is, exists or not is futile. And there is no need for us to do so.

    I am pure awareness. Okay I get that. Without awareness, I wouldn't be much of anything. But I haven't seen any reasonable explanation that the nature of my awareness is infinite both in time and space. That seems like pure conjecture to me. There is no birth and death? How do you know my awareness is not a seed that starts and ends with my physical existence? Or even if it was universal, how do I know it didn't start at some point and end at some point? Or what it's nature is--perhaps it's just a spark, nothing more. Just because I can't see and experience birth or death, or yesterday, or over there which is not here, doesn't mean it doesn't exist! Can anybody please show me how we can conclude that our awareness is infinite???

    A beautiful video from a very wise man.
    There is however two errors, and that is firstly; that there are no numerical stages of realization.
    Realization and enlightenment is fathomless and as deep as the space of the universe.
    Secondly, there is a distinction between awareness and consciousness as with awareness there is always a distance towards the sensed object. Space between taste, sound, touch, visual and cognition. Consciousness however, has no distance, and thus is forever present and impersonal. In other words, awareness is an extension of consciousness, but not consciousness itself.
    Of all the teachers I have read and listened to, there is only Barry Long who has been capable of penetrating the deepest level of consciousness which is truly worth listening to if you are searching for the truest truth.

    At about 5.15 this just breaks down in terms of coherence. You don't need to take this extra step into 'non objective' 'limitless' 'knowing ' but maybe - we automatically do in the absense of 'God'. Who is the knower ? Confusing awareness which has its roots in our ancestry with a 'panpsychic' kind of consciousness is projection, and ultimately understandable in human terms, but I think it bypasses some hard existential aspects to the reality we are inextricably enmeshed in.

    Fist awakening is seeing you are awareness of awareness and not thinking mind
    Second awakening is almost permanent without practice state of awareness that has no separation in time and not in space you don't fell that awareness inside body looking at the world it just one continues experience
    The third awakening that doesn't end that realization that the present awareness don't automatically cure all the conditions of the body (bad feelings) so now with the always present if awareness you welcome all the feelings and they conditions will lose power over time and body stay almost already relax
    Second awakening steel your thinkingmind
    Third process awakening steel your feelings body

    The significance of the passage of time, right,
    the significance of the passage of time.
    So, when you think about it, there is great significance to the passage of time in terms of what we need to do to lay these wires. What we need to do to create these jobs.
    And there is such great significance to the passage of time when we think about a day in the life of our children.

    good explanations. There is no self, only experience and the unconditioned, but there is a self as far as unawakened beings in dream-thinking are concerned, and the discovery awaits everybody. The true Nature has always been here, it just needs remembering - in Buddhism the first realisation is called stream entry, and lists three of ten fetters which are shed with that revelatory realisation. Thereafter, the stages of progress described by Rupert also develop, as we see further and develop the causes of further realisations, and awakening. yes there are stages of awakening, because the causes have to be assembled, for the last 'penny to drop'. An apple tree may have five red apples all looking ripe on the tree, but we cannot predict which apple will fall before the other, nor when it will fall. IN the same way, we cannot predict when the causes of awakening will have accumulated, but hard work, self honesty, and deep introspection onto the influence of the senses, our views, the conditioned nature of our views and reactions, emotions, their influence, and so on, to see how all of those processes are not self, and that only emptiness, luminous awareness is present constantly, the rest, is all coming and going.

    Just when you think you have realized the empty nature of awareness, grasping
    lingers on. You may think, "Ah, this is the nature of the mind now I've got it." But it
    is precisely at this point that you lose it, because this is when conceptual grasping
    comes in and derails you again. In this way, the mind is carried away and
    distracted. Until now, because of grasping, we have regarded that which is not the
    mind as being the mind. We have regarded that which is not consciousness as
    being consciousness. Space is primordially unestablished in reality, so it's
    impossible for it to have any color. Likewise, the mind is beyond the past, present,
    and future. It is also beyond all kinds of objectification. If it were to have even a
    slight basis in reality and the Omniscient One could not see it, that would
    contradict the entire meaning of "Omniscient One." Therefore, if it had any
    existence at all, the Omniscient One would see it. Until now, we have been
    involved in rejecting and accepting due to grasping onto our emotions, joys,
    suffering, and delusion. Why do we fall into these states when none of them has
    any true existence? Remember the reality of last night's dream appearances. All of
    these are unestablished. None of them has objective existence. However, don't
    ignore actions and their consequences. from page 119. "A Spacious Path to Freedom " by Karma Chagme

      I do not think this is necessarily the case actually. The mind can exist within awake awareness. We do not have to maintain a dualistic view between mind and awake awareness, the former arises within and by means of the latter. Yes, *grasping* to the comments the mind makes can pull us back into the identification pattern. But we must be clear that it is the *grasping* that does that, not the mere activity of the mind itself. If the mind wants to label stuff, if it wants to say "I got it!" or whatever else, we can let it make it's comments and get all excited. It's just the mind doing what it does. The mind's activities can simply fall into the background of our experience while awake awareness remains the foreground. Awake awareness does not have to be threatened by that. But when we hold on to the idea that mind can not do x or else we will lose contact with awake awareness -- well that itself also becomes a grasping -- grasping for a mind that doesn't do what the mind naturally does.

    I get that awareness is what permeates thru all experience but the sense of self is so identified with the personality. How can there be freedom from this especially since we are constantly reminded of characteristics of the personality.

      Nikan RT Keep identifying with awareness. As you do so, you are plucking up, eventually to discard, the old belief in being the personality, the body-mind. Part of this is just being in the trenches of daily experience - of having a clearly set intention as u put 1 foot in front of the other. The intention, itself, is given momentum by the occasions when you identify with awareness.
      We start where we are, tho - which means we have other momentum in operation - which takes a while to wind down. Stubbornness in favor of your current chosen intention(s) also helps. ;-)
      PS Just watched this other vid & had to come back to share the link with you - The Great Misconception, also by Rupert - tinyurl.com/l68dgex

      TheseEyesGod Thanks. By identifying with aweness, do you mean noticing its presence from time to time?

    • @TheseEyesGod
      @TheseEyesGod 9 лет назад +3

      Nikan RT LOL - this is such deep stuff that it's amazing we manage to get any of it transferred with our bulky, linear words. Take for instance Rupert - in this or any of his vids. If you center within - purposely leaving head or mind aside - then you perceive more of his meaning, his intention - it rides under the train of his words. It's in his vibe, if you will. Does that make sense?
      As you tune in to him, or anyone else who is identified with awareness - some call it Presence - you can actually _feel_ what is meant. Awareness is far more of sensing - not thinking at all. You want the direct *experience*, not just thoughts _about_ that - see?
      I also found that, by watching & reading lots about NDEs, identifying with awareness was a natural side-effect. Those are reminders that we are eternal, unlike these bodes that come & go.

      Nikan RT TheseEyesGod ( TEG) has given a very good reply to your sincere question. You have raised a very pertinent point which all the sincere seekers normally encounter in their seeking i.e., "How can there be freedom from constantly reminded characteristics of the personality".
      I will try to supplement what TEG has given. A strong desire to know the Truth only puts people on this path. Supported by this, sincere effort on the line suggested by people who have already treaded on the path is to be followed with faith. As suggested by TEG 'keep identifying with awareness' is the path recommended by many greats like Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta Maharaj etc. Now let me come to your main problem of "constantly reminded of characteristics of the personality". This is what Rupert calls 'conditioning' and traditional advaitins call 'vasanas'. In a nutshell, it is the sum total of impressions we accumulate through senses since birth ( and also through DNA). One's success or progress depends upon the strongness of this conditioning. But the very fact that one came to this point of making a beginning in a direction is itself a very good sign as very few only would reach this stage.
      Now let me address the main question " How to hold to the awareness?. It is simple -when other desires are dominant, the mind does not stay in self and stray to other sensory desires. Pulling the mind from these other desires and placing it in the self persistently would in the course of time wean the mind from other desires. The desire to know the Truth when gets strengthened other desires would decline. For this two things are required 1 -Effort 2. Grace. In fact, it is Grace only that enables Effort also. If you ask what is Grace? - simply it is an unknown source -may call it -Nature, God, Unknown cosmic Source for the time being ( in fact it is none other than SELF)
      I came across a beautiful example to explain as to how this 'staying with awareness' would work.. Let us compare the" characteristics of the personality " or 'the mind' with a fully recorded video cassette. The mind records all impressions it obtained through its 5 senses since childhood. ( and also from DNA) as already mentioned. It is like a film recorded on the video cassette. Now let us take a video cassette recorder connected to a TV screen. Insert the cassette in the VCR. Keeping the screen blank press the record button. What happens? The recorded material on the cassette gets erased and at the same time no fresh recording happens as the screen is blank. When you stay with 'I AMNESS' without falling into sleep ( record button is on ) the recorded impressions of the mind ( desires) gets erased without fresh addition.
      Thus instead of tackling desires directly, this is the surest way to overcome them.
