She does not want us to hide the Truth from the rest.
When the journey to True Love ends, the journey in True Love begins.
That means no God is more powerful than True Love.
That means a little flower can stand up to a God in the name of True Love, in honoring her divine Glory and Beauty, if the God is out of alignment with True Love.
If we do not all live under the Law of Love, the Law of the Creator, what is the freedom for.
What about those who are asleep? Who saves them? Not those who manifest, they did not save me, they save themselves.
I was in darkness and in need of Light and it was only True Friendship that was able to pull me out of the deepest black hole I was in.
And taught me to make Light from Darkness.
To not fear any Man nor God. For it is only One who must fear.
The one who is not in line with the laws of True Love and takes Her riches for Himself instead of share with the ignorant and weak.
      With those who are forgotten.

@Dean Mitchell much gratitude for your reply. I suspect (99.9% sure) my separate self is fighting for its life. Turmoil inside me at times is unbearable. Another issue I question what am I turning into concepts if at all. Impatience abounds. Running away from present moment to get relief. Avoid inquiries for a day. Pushed back the next day with urgency. I look at urgency because it’s already here (effortless awareness) but I see that I want to be in control. My timeline. Want to relax enjoy nature , enjoy my time left yet the relentless drive to inquire. I want to feel like one does when they are floating in the ocean. The water is supporting you. I suspect this is how one feels when there is no longer a separate self. Do not have this trust with the Universe, Source, God. But this seems to be the key action. Trust. At times it seems it’s not that hard to surrender. Working on opening my heart mind coherence. Great having one way conversation with some who understands my wording. Many blessings. Don’t feel obligated to reply.

My experience is that one doesn't have to sleep to experience the subtle mind or the deep sleep mind/causal mind. The mind is fluctuating between this states of minds during waking hours, but usually one is not aware of that.
When I'm mindful, the mind is in the state of being awake. When thoughts and feelings take us away into into the imaginary abstract, intellectual concepts or emotional dwellings, we are experience the dream state.
The deep sleep state/causal mind is being absorbent in awareness itself, no stimulus through objects are needed to feel complete satisfied, content and being fulfilled with what is.
With meditation, one can be more aware of this mind states and enabling more awareness of this states also during daily life.

I understand Rupert's use of the word "awareness ". Many argue that the dictionary use of the word "awareness " implies duality. I find both points useful in their respective presentations.

    • @mojoomla
      @mojoomla 2 года назад

The problem with Rupert is that he does not distinguish between Awareness and Consciousness.
You cannot explain Deep Sleep without discerning between those two words.
Awareness needs duality, The observer and the observed. You have consciousness in deep sleep but you have no awareness. Awareness is only there in the waking and dream states of the common man. In deep sleep there is no awareness as there are no perceived objects physical or mental to be aware of. And because the Ego too is absent as a result of the cessation of the mind there is no self-awareness either. Consciousness however is there always since for Consciousness there never is anything "other" than itself to be aware of. Consciousness spawns and supports Awareness in the mind and the body when these are in a state that can manifest awareness.
Awareness is what the Advaitins call as "Chidabhaas". Consciousness is what they call as "Kootasth". Rupert should refine his use of terminology to facilitate the right understanding.

But the answer to him is: you as awareness had an experience you identify as outside of the physical 3d experience. Ok. You experienced it. It doesn’t mean anything other than what it was. Let it go. Regarding the very last part, I am pondering over that question for a while now. If we notice new content in our field of awareness (sensations in our toe) did that just start or was it going on all the time in the background. In other words, does experience of something exist independently of us experiencing it. Was the toe tingly before we focvussed on it? I think this one of the most fascinating questions in the universe. Does the tree falling over in the forest makes a sound if no-one is there?

When he asks the audience, 'Have any of you experienced absence of awareness' and nobody says anything, I thought, "Well I certainly have - e.g. when I passed out or when I was under gas or maybe when I was in very deep sleep"; that's why I can't see that awareness (or consciousness) is not dependent on this physical body.
I'd be interested to hear what's not reasonable about that.

I have to say my experience is completely different regarding deep sleeping state. When my dreams slowing down and there is no more objects in my mind then there is no any consciousness or awareness of being aware. In that state its like I don't exist or there is no any ME. It's exactly like before I was born. Completely nothing and no one there. Same process I see in deep meditation. Thoughts, dreams and then a state where feeling of I amness disappearing for some time and then of course things coming back again. It was same when I had accident and lost my consciousness for 20 min and after I woke up I was shocked as I felt as it was just few seconds. That is why I know consciousness can come and go. This is also the reason I left nonduality and Zen with regret of wasting many years of my life on that and eventually became supporter of materialistic view of consciousness ( if your brain dies your finite mind is no more conscious of any thing so there is no more you, no reincarnation either I'm afraid ). I'm open to discussion.

reporting about how well one slept has been used many times to argue for the presence of awareness, in the sense that one was aware of deep-sleep, but I find this a bit non-rational, because the value judgement is not made like that, when someone asks me if I slept well, I am not recalling vague awareness into memory and give an answer based on that, no.. I just check on myself at the very moment to see: if I am sleepy, do I feel well, do I feel refreshed? if yes, then "I slept well", it no, then "no, I did not sleep well".
"I don't know" is not an option because I have access to my current state, I can always check and see if I am sleepy and refreshed, once awake.
So I find this line of reasoning flawed... its been used so many times by different teachers, as if its a bulletproof argument, but its simply not.

Awareness can stand alone without limited mind. But limited mind cant stand alone without awareness. Awareness is ever present reality. I had a miracoulos encounter with a Divine Being. Several years later I read Plotinus and he had a description of precisely the same. What I am aware of I am not. Neither am I this person. This is the reason for Gautamas answers about no self and emptiness. He knew, that he couldn't be neither the person or the divinine source who literally enlightned him. Only our source knows who we truly are.

Not of material nature and not personal in that sense. I still strugle to get the old sense of "me" in alignment with that perfect Being. I cant recommend "Do as thy will" (that hurt).

One is destined to go, when this happens in life. It's a complete carmic cleansing in life. All the dirt needs to go. Thats why I have problems with the "you are already that". When all ego and ego activity is gone, then it's another story. Anyone can Say "I am that" without and consequenses, if the Source hasn't revealed it Self.

An example of Rupert falling woefully short. This is with the kid who identified as African American. That kid needed Rupert to bring it down to his level of understanding, and Rupert insisted on being only in "Rupert Spira" mode. That poor kid was sincerely trying to understand, but Rupert was actually getting testy, because he was being taken out of his normal groove with his obedience seekers in front of him, the ones who behave as the standard customers. The kid was just being himself and asking for help, but Rupert refused to part with his typical language and delivery. Notice he wasn't even speaking to the kid after a certain point. He was speaking to the room. He doesn't do that with the other questioners. His behavior actually made me sad for that kid. He needed some pointers tailored specifically for him, and he got none of that. First time I've seen Rupert taken out of his comfort zone.

Refined but still unsatisfactory. Disappearance of awareness/consciousness in deep sleep is still a clear possibility that remains. It is an unresolved conundrum. The spiritualist, like Rupert, will keep claiming that awareness was present during deep sleep and it did experience nothingness. That is mere play on words. Awareness devoid of experience is merely a belief. How can it be proven? It will remain a presumption only.
In fact, deep sleep gives the materialist a hands down victory. In deep sleep, the body remains. The consciousness/awareness ceases. It is the condition and state of the material neurons that control the switch on and switch off of awareness. What greater proof is needed that awareness depends on matter and not vice-versa ?!

unconditional love includes all the emotional light and is infinite in itself respect to the human experience, we can all do it even with finite minds even if time to time or just few times in a lifetime. that exists thus love is the evidence that all we share is the same consciousness. it's like the universe in the multiverse representing itself which naturally arrises when you try to merry general relativity with quantum mechanics. (at least this is my translation and it is in line with all my spiritual experiences and inner-outer explorations.) this talk is brilliant and truly tapped into a deep realisation in me which just further strengthened. Even the commonly accepted quantum physics suffers to leave out the observer/awareness of its equations in the materialistic worldview because there is no definitive reality until there is a measurement made (by someone, guess who?). So there is no perception of anything or there is absolute nothingness in the materialist view until there is someone to look at it or measure it. The materialist worldview is just telling the same story of awareness but in a way where the encoding of our human reality can be decoded by another intellect than a human mind and if the mathematical language from humans is understood then could be used to reproduce some fundemantal laws of reality but it never will be the explanation of all things. Since it just proves that the alien intellect has to become aware of the same way as a human perceive its reality thus the alien has to develop a human view in its own awareness to precive like a human thus we have to share the same awareness of those physical laws which a human can measure. But I just can't see how this conversation about changing fundemantal understanding of our relationship with our reality from materialistic based to consciousness based could happen in the world most of us tend to build.. will see

Self Iquiry in my understanding of Ramana s teaching is that this whole world like the dream world is an illusion which disappears when the dreamer is dissolved. Similarly, only by a 180 degree turn away from the world (internal and external objects) towards the I will this world be seen through as an illusion and the only reality of the Self be realised . The problem is that self inquiry is actually 2 questions, 1st who am I? Which leads to isolation of the I thought, the second question is where do I come from? The answer is the Heart. The answer to the second question is an intuitive self abiding in Globality or awareness. The I thought is the illusory snake which through spiritual looking/inquiry becomes revealed as the reality of the rope. To isolate the I Thought you have to look at awareness.
Open your eyes and look at the room around you
Become aware that you are aware of the room
      Look at that awareness
Now shut your eyes while remaining aware of that awareness

No offense it seems you danced and riddled him into confusion but, if we are all individual renditions of the one consciousness wouldnt that mean becoming aware of your awareness is only the beginning process of awareness. I believe what he was trying to ask is have you ever been deeper into your realized state of awarness so that you become aware that you are indeed "everything". As in our world our reality as we know it everything objective and subjective is actually all parts of the same concisnous. So you and i are actually the same concisnous individualized and experiencing ourself in a limited physical manifestation.

By love Rupert doesn't mean a feeling of any kind, although love appears that way at times. He means the absence of an other, of anything separate.
Imagine if you knew for certain you were the only being in existence, would you have anything to fear? Rather one would be free to know oneself however one desired, even as an apparent universe with creatures that seem to cause themselves suffering.
But is anyone actually suffering? No, because as Rupert said earlier in the conversation, there are no entities, no real separate selves.
This becomes known when as he also describes one sink's back into one's true essential self through first understanding what you are not (the inward facing path), and then resting in the knowing of what's still present when all objective experience is seen as illusory.
      My 2 cents. 😊

When asking a question like for instance, "How can I do [whatever it is that we are inquiring about] and then there is a pause, a gap that seems so common, so insubstantial, so irrelevant, that it is missed almost continuously and then the next thought happens - "Well maybe it is like this etc etc" - that pause between those 2 thoughts - is formlessness, is Silence, stillness, awareness and it is so common it is almost always overlooked. It has always witnessed everything from when were children until whatever age we are now, it never comes and goes like thought forms, it always IS and always will be and has never not been.
What is asking the questions AND answering the questions is ego/mind/self-identity/"me"/personal pronoun/thought forms... and as long as there are questions and answers, "trying to figure out", "trying to fix", something or someone being a "doer" - we are never present, here now because the seeking is "always" pulling us into mind activity which is never in the Now.
As soon as it is understood that the seeking itself, the analyzing/trying to figure out/trying to fix/etc is ego/mind/"me" and the pause between is the reality, that there really is no "me" but only thoughts that are identified with and seem to be a "me", then is when it seems the world is within and not a "me" in the world. It is almost like the other side of the coin.
This is the silence like Ramana Marharshi spoke of, a lot of people think silence is just a quiet place where we sit and contemplate but there is still mental activity that is identified with and that is not true silence, true silence appears to be only when the "me/thinker" is discovered to be nothing but thought/seeking and that the gaps between the thoughts/seeking is what is left which is the peace we look and long for.

Identification with the thoughts, feelings and emotions is constant and automatic. Like digestion or other processes of our bodies. The way to control this process is simple. You should be able to see clearly that YOU ARE a BUNDLE of feelings, emotions and thoughts. If you can observe this automatic process, you will see that YOU ARE indeed that above mentioned BUNDLE. If you can observe and see this, you will be able to disengage. Because up to now this process was automatic, but now it became conscious. Also you wont want to be a bundle, or some feeling! Who are they for if there’s no one? Notice the first guy was told “it’s a lifelong task”. WTF? That’s the carrot these teachers dangle in front of your illusory face. @@johnwoodruff4817 Rupert says that applying the pointer that there is "simply nothing to do and no one to do it" literally is a distortion of the beautiful teachings in order to by-pass the inner work involved to change.
There is a 'me', there will always be a person (John Smith, Jane) that lives, thinks, acts and relates in this dimension, but what causes trouble is when that person gets lost into egoistical thinking, acting and relating. Hence the question "On whose behalf am I thinking, acting and relating in this world?". Rupert explains there are 3 stages: 1) being totally lost in the play without knowing it, thus feeling separate and suffering from it 2) the inward facing path (self-inquiry) that leads to the realization of who we are (one with the world), and 3) the outward facing path, where the person (what we call "I") goes back into the world thinking, acting, and relating at the light of this new understanding. So even if at the intellectual level there might be instant recognition of the onenness and that life is living us rather than us living life, it remains a [lifelong] task to integrate this understanding and get rid of the deeply engrained feeling of being a separate self. So I agree with you, the 'me' that is at the stage of the separate self cannot invite change in any way.

I always think of it as like a security system. like there are a bunch of different views that seem to be separate views (like us as separate differnt people), but it's really one system that is seeing everything at once ( being the one that actually is experiencing everything and is only one). But this one doesn't have anything relative to it to be a one like a number because it's the only thing that exist, but it also doesn't have a apparent physical existance it only is as is without any comparison and is the one giving apparent separate existances to everything else. like Rupert was saying it dreams inside itself, this is all what you could call the mind of God. And I'm sure the possibilities are infinite and it's all right here even beyond what you are apparently experiencing. like it's all one space there is no out there. it's weird right, but its what's apparently happening, or not happening either way is ok to say. also what's weird is its infinite so that makes it sound like its multiple things but it's not, it is and isnt, see goes in circles.

Perhaps all concepts arise out of ON considering its opposite - this is the source of all conceptual thinking or duality (the first step out of the garden of Eden). The concept of OFF is so burdensome to ON that it gets projected onto part of itself and what is displyed within it starts to take that shape. ON realising that OFF cannot exist ends that apparent duality - or renders it transparent. However, OFF does have a kind of existance, as the impossibility of OFF (TIOO) is constantly giving birth to ON. thus ON 'is' TIOO and every moment is the dawn of creation. This understanding is just more ON-ness of course... Any good?

Is there enough rain, is the rice harvest good, what is the market price for a kilo of rice, this is important. They fear death but die without complaint, no spiritual complications. The monks are there for the ceremony and cremation....not a free from sin tip toe in / candle wax and waning death/ not a curtains drawn of angels borne / what a nice way to go death. Their whole lives are, like their death, one of acceptance. It's really quite simple.

Consciousness is all that there is. Subject and objects dualities are a big lie that consciousness tells itself. As a separate self you are a lie that your true self is telling itself.

Rupest says that awereness loses itself into experiencing but is not better to say that the awereness is always here and just the idea of ourselves loses itself? By habit...

Attention to the body mind's sense of self obscures the reality of BEING EVERYTHING. The suffering that this attention to the sense of self brings, allows for the discovery of BEING EVERYTHING. The Wonder!!

Yeah we have not experienced the absence of consciousness because the brain genrates consciousness remember ? so we cant know when/if consciousness has stoped because our brains needs to be stopped when consciousness stops , so we cant know if our brain has stopped when our brain stops...

Rupert is good and I can learn new useful knowledge from him. However, in my opinion he misled three of the questioners. One is around 15.00 when a gentleman who talked about deep meditation and deep sleep. The other is the gentleman around 35.00 who tried to ask Rupert about how he feels the true state. I believe both of these gentlemen have gone way beyond where Rupert is. But neither has not gone all the way to realization because if they did then they would not be asking the questions they were asking. But I think they know enough and inquire by themselves to answer their own questions.
Anyway the issue with Rupert’s ( and almost all other spiritual teachers) is that the use of words like awareness, consciousness, vinnana etc. As soon as you use any words that has a meaning then by definition they are not describing our true nature. The only three that I know of who knew this were Buddha, Maharaj Nisargadatta and Marhashi Ramana.
I am not telling that Rupert’s teaching is useless - no, it is and can be useful to all of us who are in the process of discovering who we are. But using the word awareness is a problem. However without words he cannot teach/help others. May I suggest the word ‘unknown’ or ‘that’ or ‘indescribable’ to describe who we are?
The 3rd example is the last question. We all know that our body and each cell has an intelligence that we cannot even imagine about. Rupert connecting that intelligence to awareness is close to madness. Because our body and cells do things without getting involved our awareness.

      Please stop mind game.
There is nothing beyond and far. That is a mind game. If You want a mind game, go get Your computer game and play with it. GUNK.

@Mark A I add to your observation. The answer given by Rupert regarding deep-sleep is quite inadequate and unconvincing. Deep Sleep is an enigma and a clear challenge to the spiritualist.
Saying that Deep sleep is not the Absence of Awareness but Awareness of Absence is mere dishonesty and wordplay without any proof whatsoever. The materialist wins hands down when it comes to deep sleep. The body sleeps. It switches off Awareness. The body awakens, it switches on Awareness. That is the simplest experience of the sleeper as well as those who watch the sleeper from outside.

@@mojoomla We cannot deny that there is some aware element of ourselves that remains present in deep sleep, otherwise we'd answer the question "Did you sleep well?" with the answer "I have no idea". If awareness is absent or the body switches off awareness during deep sleep, what is it that is aware of how well we were sleeping? The only element during deep sleep is pure awareness, and we don't remember deep sleep because there were no thoughts, feelings, sensations or perceptions present during the experience to remember. Deep sleep is the awareness of the absence of anything objective (thoughts, feelings, sensations, etc.). We don't feel that we are approaching annihilation/non-existence when we're going to bed because we continue to be present there, as awareness in its purest form in the absence of objective experience.

As he said, consciousness and awareness are synonyms. He's saying that the natural intelligence and happenings of our body is consciousness itself. When we focus on conversations or specific sensations, it is the same consciousness directing itself towards a specific objective experience and the same consciousness continues to naturally run the body in the background.

@@georgetrentos2094When you say "We cannot deny that ......."
What you are explaining is the standard text-book explanation offered by the Advait Vedantic texts. That question, "Did you sleep well?" is a cunningly deceptive question. The affirmative answer to it, when given, is not a recollection of experience of well-being felt in deep sleep. It actually is the expression of the feeling of well-being that is being experienced at the time that question is asked because of the freshness gained due to a good night's sleep and rest. I will never answer that question with an "I don't know" answer simply because I will be knowing how I feel at the time that question is asked and basis that waking experience I will only answer yes or no. If I am feeling fresh and energetic and have no memory of any bad dreams I will say yes I slept well. And if not I will say no. There is no question of saying "I don't know" because the answer to that question is always given by inferring about the state of sleep not by memory recollection of the state of sleep.
Claiming inferential knowledge to be experiential knowledge is an elementary and fundamental mistake introduced in the argument by the Vedantins. Whether they do it deliberately to deceive or they themselves are deceived in their beliefs is a moot point.
Awareness of the absence of objects in deep sleep is just a claim of the vedantins. It is not an actual experience. Nobody in due honesty can claim that he or she was Aware of Nothingness in deep sleep. All that he or she can say after waking is that he/she has no recollection of any experience acquired in deep sleep.
It is an inference that is drawn from the absence of any memory of objects after waking up.
Actually Awareness of absence does not come in deep sleep. It can come if you are kept in a pitch dark room with 100% sense deprivation induced by, say, paralysis.
The condition of deep sleep is an enigma and the greatest challenge to the Advait Vedanti who claims that Individual Human Awareness is uninterrupted. There is no real experiential proof of that in deep sleep. That is why the trick question "Did you sleep Well?" 🙂
