I’ve never cared about wrestling ever in my life. Your recap of the Shirakawa vs. Kamitani made me actually tear up. There is such truth to be found in the place where fiction and reality collide through catharsis. Here’s to hoping they have long, amazing, fulfilling lives.
Hey bro, you're welcome. But thank you for sticking with it, even as you're open and transparent about how difficult it is. That's more inspiring than you could know. There were a lot of times i thought this year might be my last one. Between physical and mental health. But knowing there's people out there pushing gives me the strength to get back up. You mean more than you think, man. Just make sure you take care of you, too.
As a guy around your age with similar struggles in regards to mental health, I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, I absolutely LOVE your weird little videos and your content puts a smile on my face. As an MMA fan, you’ve also done a lot to make me realize why so many enjoy WWE and I’m starting to gain an appreciation for it.
Great list overall and particularly LOVED the wrestling section. The Stardom segment got me right in the heart -- you had me misty-eyed over a storyline I was previously unfamiliar with! Also delighted that Swerve is getting so many flowers. Got to work with him in MLW and you could tell he was going to be a huge star from the jump -- he was our first WHC of the modern era! Great guy to work with behind the curtain, as well. Excellent work as always; have a wonderful holiday and 2024! Great artificial bump on the intelligent head-butt, too!
No cap, no irony, and no bullshit. I genuinely love your content John. Thank you for the many hours of entertainment and knowledge you have provided me. You have lead me to things in life I wouldn't have tried without this channel. Thank you once again.
"Like all bisexuals, I immediately do anything an attractive person tells me to" I'm absolutely using this Edit: "It's perfect if you like being gaslit and emotionally manipulated, I know I do" also using this
Oh boy, that ending reminded me of that one MJF promo that ended with calling his boss Mark in the friendliest of manners. That ending left another thing super under appreciated - the “I’m the only guy that makes you feel” part of it.
Very excited to hear you talk Slay the Princess after my partner and I have been keeping up with Foxcade's edits. They (and the Fear and Hunger 2 streams) have been some of our favourite before bedtime watches.
John, I was a little late to this video, but I wanted to let you know how much your videos mean to me. My mental health has been dipping as of late too, but I've been going back and watching your channel and it feels like a comforting blanket. You make amazing content, you're one of my absolute favourite channels, and I sincerely hope you're doing well. Also, Ghost Ass would be a great name for a band.
For anyone who loved Slay the Princess as much as I did, you should check out Black Tabby’s other game, Scarlet Hollow. It’s easily one of my absolute favorite games of all time, and even though it’s still incomplete, it’s still absolutely worth playing. It’s a visual novel where your choices have long-term consequences, about a dying coal mining town where some disturbing things are starting to happen. You play as the estranged grandchild of the matriarch who owned the mine, whose recent death is why you’re in town. There’s a planned 7 chapters in total, each one covering a single day of the week, and the first 4 are currently out, with the fifth slated for mid-2024 (it’s just two people making it, so progress is slower than other games). It’s so good; it’s way better than Slay the Princess, which is still in my Top 5 GOTYs.
God, do i love scarlet hollow! I appreciate slay the princess, but i wish SH got the same amount of love. Easily my favorite experience i’ve had playing a game.
@@larsbrown9933 There's this video from earlier this year of Junji Ito commenting on a bunch of art by horror illustrators and he included a page from one of her comics. Abby Howard is so good that senpai noticed her!
Having a wrestling battle where the opponents battle and after blood sweat and tears forgive each other? This is why wrestling is amazing- such raw emotion and presentation.
I felt compelled to comment after your bit about having a rough year and thanking us. Thank YOU for bringing some of the best quality RUclips videos to us. In my opinion, I don't think anyone does it better, and you've single-handedly got me into the long form video essay format. While I'm always triple checking to see if you dropped something new, the quality is always so great that I'm more than happy to wait while you take the time to take care of yourself. Again, thank you for being such an awesome content creator and no matter the frequency, I hope you keep it up and it remains as enjoyable for you as it is for us for many years to come.
If I could thumbsup more than once, I would slam another dozen here, you are the one person who can make me cry about wrestling media just in how you cover it as a narrative media. Please never stop sharing things you have such passion about.
"The coming of dinosaur Satan" is actually the plot of a Judge Dredd comic I recently had in my hands. It also involved the realm of dark matter, genetic experiments and reptilians. I am not kidding about any of this.
Mutant Mayhem was incredibly endearing to me. I can't say it's my favorite Turtles movie, but the art style and acting are on point. The brothers FEEL like brothers and absolutely sell being 14 years old in 2023. Some of the jokes linger for too long and I don't feel like Raph or Mikey get enough screen time, but that does just make it stand out as its own unique thing in the franchise all the more. The wonky "hand drawn 3D" makes me think of Psychonauts, which is never a bad thing.
I had several Dinosaur Attack cards when I was a kid. I had forgotten they existed. Thank you for inducing nostalgia, which released dopamine in my brain.
I am happy that youre still making videos! You got my through 2019 and 2020, when I was in the trenches of my ED and a toxic relationship. And I still get to watch you be passionate about the things you love! Do it at your own pace, but never give up please!
2023 started as one of the worst years ive had, battling mind numbing depression and really dark awful urges and really contemplating su**cide. But watching videos like this kept me sane, reminded me that i have interests that make up myself and that its not worthless, because it helps define me. Slowly my year started to get better but im still compating loneliness after losing so many people that i thought actually cared about me but actually were masks that ended up cracking once i saw through them. Life is tough, thats why i retreat and wind down with these videos, there calming when things are hard to get through, so thank you for that. I know it may seem not much but it made a world of difference to be able to even sleep, or smile. Keep doing what you are, you're brilliant.
I always appreciate that he splits the horror into a totally separate section, so pansies like me can feel okay dropping off the video at that point. Thanks for another year of great videos!
I kind of know several of the people Scott Pilgrim was based on (rode on a bus from Seattle to San Diego with Young Neil lol). I haven't seen Bryan for a bit but I think the whole thing is a testament to growing older, mature, understanding your life and how you interact with others. SP was especially wild for me as it came out because the character was younger than me when I started reading it and I had a kid on the way when it ended. The original ending definitely didn't land for me at the time and I commiserated with a few other artists and podcasters about it at the 2010 Scott Pilgrim San Diego party (sponsored by the Toronto Tourism board no less!) so it is fantastic to see it blossom into such a spectacular and tight anime in 2023 (RIP Doug Sherwood, I didn't know we lost him this year until the show came out. I remember proofreading volume 4 with Doug at the Oni office when it came out).
There are always those RUclipsrs out there that when they drop a video you'll drop _everything_ else to go watch it. Because they're just that damn good. Super Eyepatch Wolf is one of those for me.
So great to see you back. I’m so saddened in hearing you’ve been struggling this past year. I hope you can take some solace in the fact that you are not alone. I also struggled with mental health problems and some real life difficulties this year. And it’s hard because you can feel alone, even when you’re surrounded by those who love you. It can be hard to share what’s troubling you and get a response that actually matters. But we care. And we all hope things get better for you. I just hope this doesn’t come across as some trite response. Because you have made a difference in my life. I found enjoyment in your videos this year during a period when any enjoyment at all was oh so difficult to find. That means something to me. So thank you. Know you have made a positive impact on this world. I hope you can find some prolonged happiness. I really do. Take care. Lots of love.
"Wrestlers" is fantastic. I used to watch & attend OVW when I was a kid & got to see the likes of John Cena, Randy Orton, Batista & Brock Lesnar before they were in the Fed. It was a very well-made & engaging show & the promotion has been doing great since the show came out, I know at least they had a run of like 13 straight sell-outs at their weekly shows. Very cool to see this show & I'm happy to see how much you enjoyed it too!
Thank you SuperEyepatchhWolf. You have really helped me this year and wanted to tell you that your are doing well. I hope you are doing well outside of RUclips and taking care of yourself. Thank you so much for helping me through such a difficult year. Much love.
John, I love your videos. Whenever I see a new upload on here or RegularEyePatchWolf, my day becomes so much better. You make me become so invested in things I thought I'd never care about. You even made me cry about wrestling! Multiple times. The way you tell stories and your humor just grip me. Thank you so much for the content, and just being genuinely yourself. Love ya brother and keep it up. ❤😊
I really got into your content this past year and as someone who has struggled with mental health for a long time, your videos have been a constant comfort when I need something engaging and/or funny to unwind. Thanks man.
Brother.. i feel yah.. 2023 has been the hardest year besides when my father died, and even that year was actually "easier". Ive been struggling so hard and the last month has almost done me in...if i can still get up in the morning, than i know u can do it bro ❤ Be well my friend.
I've been loving your live streams this year. It's just so much fun to see you play a game unscripted. And I love the videos you always set a high bar of quality for each one you put out.
Fun, bizarre fact: the Art Spiegelman behind Dinosaurs Attack! is the very same Art Spiegelman behind the harrowing Maus I and II, graphic novel retellings of his father's experience as a Holocaust survivor.
You're such a phenomenal actor, voice actor, and story teller. Your videos make me feel ok when I'm not okay so THANK YOU for doing what you do my dude!
This video went everywhere. Everywhere. Even the parts I don't like, I like. I'm just so intrigued. I can never predict this channel, man. It's a real roller coaster.
I wouldn't be surprised if the reason modern anime is the way it is, is because Akira Toriyama is a wrestling fan and that shaped Dragon Ball Z. Since so many shows are so heavily influenced by DBZ, or influenced by other shows that were influenced by DBZ, that makes the most sense to me.
@@OtakuUnitedStudioYears before Dragon Ball you had Kinnikuman which is a wrestling battle manga that is highly influential to battle manga and manga in general establishing and cementing lots of story seas character archetypes etc. that are still seen today.
please play ghost trick phantom menace and talk about it. I cannot even begin to say how much i love that game. the storytelling, the graphics, and the overall message is incredible. im also high but still plz play and make a video about it. im a huge fan
Everyone has been talking about BG3 for good reason. I've dropped hundreds of hours in and I haven't felt this much love for a CRPG since Dragon Age: Origins. What I was most surprised and excited to see mentioned? Slay the Princess! I binged it so hard a few days after release. It hit just the right mix of melancholy and humor I needed at that time. The art style was what drew me in, and the voice acting only made it better. There's just o much love in it.
This guy will add an arc to a video talking about good shit this year. This is why you’re a new favorite creator of mine. Very glad to have found your work.
Hey man, You never have to worry about not making enough content. Your health, physical and mental, should always come first and any viewer saying otherwise can shove it. I'm sure you already know that but maybe some rando on the internet saying it out loud can help that sink in a little better. Keep doing you and know that you've got an audience who has your back. Merry christmas and happy new year man, hopefully 2024 is way better than this year. Ps. Im one of your viewers who doesn't care about wrestling and the wrestling content in your videos is some of the best entertainment on youtube. Just fyi.
I love these videos both because they scratch that part of my brain that likes to see people mark out about things they love and because your suggestions match my tastes most of the time. However, I especially love that you spend time in these lists to prop up other, smaller creators. I feel like it's important for people on platforms like this where the algorithm is king to help others transcend it and find a larger audience. It's real genuine of you and I love it.
Gona follow up on a tonne of these recommendations. Sorry your mental health hasnt been great, just know that they are those who truly value your work, you've led me to discover some of my fave shows, films and ganes and showed me new perspectives on things I already loved.
Great work on today's video John. Always appreciate how much effort you put in your stuff. I hope things get better for you next year. I can relate about having a lot of mental health issues this year. I hate this year and I can only hope and wish things will get better in the next.
Dude, I’ve missed your videos soooooooo much, really connect with your passion for almost everything, I don’t really like wrestling, but the way you talk about it, man, how sweet and incredible it’s to hear you talk about it. Cool video again, bro, as always.
Idk if you ever read my comments or not but I really appreciate each and every one of your videos. Just like people used to wait for every chapter of berserk, I wait for your video. Ik it might make overthink about this, and you don't have to. I recently watched your interview with the trash taste guys and I really appreciate your 'make videos you want to'. Idk if I'll ever make a video successfully to actually publish it but that's motivation enough. Enough of my rambling. Have a nice day and a new year ahead.
Hearing you talk about wrestling with such passion is my absolute favorite part of RUclips. I would watch videos of you talking about your favorite matches any time. Thank you for moving me and giving me something I can show friends to help them understand wrestling.

So happy "Speak no Evil" gets the love it deserves. As a fellow Dane the movie left such an uncomfortable feeling in your body. Watched it twice. And both times were as horrifying as each other. Can't recommend enough.
Just watched it and gotta say, this movie has hurt me the most out of any media I've seen. Spoiler alert For some reason, I was desperately hoping the mc would save his daughter right before her tongue got cut off but when he didn't, I was utterly shocked and realised this movie was one of those evil kinds (especially since after you finish it, you understand the meaning of the title and the context of the scene the poster is depicting). What I got out of the movie is that you should take action before anything truly awful happens to you and your family.😨
Awww it made me so so happy to see Nitrorad get a spotlight, he has this just.. really genuine quality to him that is so nice to soak up when I'm having a rough day. Like he's also funny and gets some laughs out of me, but you can really feel how much love he has for videogames - even old and weird ones that a lot of ppl would be quick to dismiss
I cannot put in to words how good you are at making videos! Every video you make is a complete masterpiece that leaves me dumbfounded! I also rewatch them on a regular basis, I hope you know how much people appreciate your work.
sad to be getting less of these, as these tend to be my favorite videos of yours. That said, I lost it when you said "WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THIS IS THE CHARACTER?!" XD
With second place being so far in the rear view mirror they might not even exist, when I say that you’re my all time favorite RUclipsr I can’t express that strongly enough. The sheer amount of thought, care, and personal insight you put into your videos is incredible and others should be studying it. Also…my guy…KEEP DOING YOUR WRESTLING VIDS. Your picks this year were PERFECT, and goddamnit, I don’t really care about video games, and even so I always enjoy your video game insights, so your fans can deal with it!!!
Not true at all. Pivoting to standing in front of a green screen and throwing even more insufferable jokes into his videos has almost ruined the channel for me.
I only just found your Channel due to the algorithm recommending me your Fear and Hunger video - which was fucking amazing, so well done, the narrative, the engagement, the production level, all well done. You got yourself another subscriber ;)

Thank you. Don't get why he isn't doing this himself, but it's very nice of you doing it.
Best homie out there

Got into a car accident today, luckily no one got hurt.. still feel shocked, your video helped cheering me up, thank you John..
"Like all bisexuals, I immediately do anything an attractive person tells me to"
I'm absolutely using this
Edit: "It's perfect if you like being gaslit and emotionally manipulated, I know I do" also using this
Being bisexual is much easier once you enter your villain arc 😊
What are you using to?
@@Coolguywithmask I mean like I'm going to quote that in my day to day life, because it is situational relevant a lot
Immediately named my Pinterest board after that line. Straight poetry lmao.
I have never felt so seen as when he uttered those two lines, lol.
Abby Howard is so god damn good.
@@larsbrown9933 There's this video from earlier this year of Junji Ito commenting on a bunch of art by horror illustrators and he included a page from one of her comics. Abby Howard is so good that senpai noticed her!
Also, listen to 'The Magnus Archives' for more sardonic British narration.
He did actually recommended this game in another video.
In response to the last statement, “awe….that’s so sweet!
If I could thumbsup more than once, I would slam another dozen here, you are the one person who can make me cry about wrestling media just in how you cover it as a narrative media. Please never stop sharing things you have such passion about.
Heads up your thumbs-uped videos cap out at 5k. When you hit that I think they start replacing...
John, you sold the fuck out of that headbutt my guy. Wow. Great job.
Love you EyePatch, you’re one of the few truly genuine and creative people on the internet
The wonky "hand drawn 3D" makes me think of Psychonauts, which is never a bad thing.
thanks eyepatch wolf. happy holidays
I had several Dinosaur Attack cards when I was a kid. I had forgotten they existed. Thank you for inducing nostalgia, which released dopamine in my brain.
A couple of these were scanned and uploaded to the internet, as I remember seeing some back on the Chans circa 2009 or so
I am happy that youre still making videos! You got my through 2019 and 2020, when I was in the trenches of my ED and a toxic relationship. And I still get to watch you be passionate about the things you love! Do it at your own pace, but never give up please!
The wolf has blessed us yet again. Happy holidays everyone!
I'M SO HAPPY TO SEE ILLBLEED ON THIS LIST. It's so ridiculous, I love it to bits. I'm so happy you've given it a chance to reach a wider audience.
I’ve loved Nitro Rad for years and has NO idea about his other channel so thank you!
Also your ending section was chilling and so engaging…well done!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE EFFORT YOU PUT IN
I always appreciate that he splits the horror into a totally separate section, so pansies like me can feel okay dropping off the video at that point.
Blownapart is so entertaining. Criminally underviewed guy. Glad you shouted him out
There are always those RUclipsrs out there that when they drop a video you'll drop _everything_ else to go watch it. Because they're just that damn good.
Super Eyepatch Wolf is one of those for me.
This man, and another incredible RUclipsr called Internet Pitstop fill that role for me
So great to see you back.
I love the brutality of Stardom matches. So engaging yet eye wincing.
I love when you randomly bring up something that I already like. And have liked for years.
Yooooo!!! My favourite thing 2023 was you, bro
this channel will always be one of my favorites things every year!
Much love.
He’s got the whole wide world in his hands
John, I love your videos. Whenever I see a new upload on here or RegularEyePatchWolf, my day becomes so much better. You make me become so invested in things I thought I'd never care about. You even made me cry about wrestling! Multiple times. The way you tell stories and your humor just grip me. Thank you so much for the content, and just being genuinely yourself. Love ya brother and keep it up. ❤😊
Please never stop covering wrestling, genuinely its my favorite content on the entire platform
I really got into your content this past year and as someone who has struggled with mental health for a long time, your videos have been a constant comfort when I need something engaging and/or funny to unwind. Thanks man.
EARLY ALREADY KNOW ITS GONNA BE A GREAT VIDEO

AWESOME! A new Supereeyepatchwolf video on a Saturday morning?! This day is starting off on the right foot!
Eventually is my favorite time of year! Can't wait for the next extra long deep dive video! These videos are all gold.
Brother.. i feel yah.. 2023 has been the hardest year besides when my father died, and even that year was actually "easier". Ive been struggling so hard and the last month has almost done me in...if i can still get up in the morning, than i know u can do it bro ❤
Be well my friend.
You're an inspiration brother
You videos are absolute quality! Please dont be too hard on yourself. Everyone has ups and downs, be kind to yourself.
very exited to watch this, you always make the best content
I've been loving your live streams this year. It's just so much fun to see you play a game unscripted. And I love the videos you always set a high bar of quality for each one you put out.
Fun, bizarre fact: the Art Spiegelman behind Dinosaurs Attack! is the very same Art Spiegelman behind the harrowing Maus I and II, graphic novel retellings of his father's experience as a Holocaust survivor.
You're such a phenomenal actor, voice actor, and story teller. Your videos make me feel ok when I'm not okay so THANK YOU for doing what you do my dude!
I cheered when the spooky list appeared, LOVE his scary recommendations every year
This video went everywhere. Everywhere.
Even the parts I don't like, I like.
I'm just so intrigued.
I can never predict this channel, man.
It's a real roller coaster.
I'm having a long day at work, so this is gonna get me through. Thank you Wolf
Man I am so happy to see you're featuring The Horizon. It's such an amazing work, deserving of much more popularity than it has!
I am now convinced that wrestling is just real-life anime
Nice to see someone appreciate slay the princess! Recently found it and had an amazing time, super underrated gem :)
not that i disagree it's a good game, but is it really underrated if it was the top streamed game on twitch for weeks on end
@@doyleharken3477 oh interesting, didnt actually see that at all. wasnt following the twitch trends much
I NEVER stop thinking about you, DiePatchWolf.... so you are always real and always out there. *holds gently*
Your wrestling videos are always a treat!
Hey man,
You never have to worry about not making enough content.
The fact that you can see the set in the reflection of leslie bestington's sunglasses.
Symbolism
Wow, your writing and editing is such a wonderful experience! Truly one of a kind!
This man might very well be the most genuine RUclipsr currently.
He's just a man, and he doesn't forget it, but He also makes sure that we don't either. Genuinely amazing.
I just wish he had a better mic xD. The pzzzt is distracting at times
@@shinkenrock I'm not hearing any static? Do you mean WHILE he is talking? Because max volume, when he's not speaking, its crystal clear
@@WeskAlber Yeah when he speaks and especially when there is an "s" in the word. After a few minutes you kinda get used to it but at the start its hard not to notice (for me at least)
@@shinkenrock As someone who hears every little fucking click of someone's mouth (creating my own stuff has ruined so many videos for me because I never heard the clicks before) I'm just not hearing it. Maybe that's like opposite direction of clicks and I'm not trained for that.
No he's not, he's a character that will stop existing as soon as you stop thinking about him.
This man showed up, made a great video, interlaced story-beats that have me questioning everything, and left.
You get better and better at this stuff, happy to be a subscriber!
So happy "Speak no Evil" gets the love it deserves. As a fellow Dane the movie left such an uncomfortable feeling in your body. Watched it twice. And both times were as horrifying as each other. Can't recommend enough.
Phenomenal gut punches
Just watched it and gotta say, this movie has hurt me the most out of any media I've seen.
Spoiler alert
For some reason, I was desperately hoping the mc would save his daughter right before her tongue got cut off but when he didn't, I was utterly shocked and realised this movie was one of those evil kinds (especially since after you finish it, you understand the meaning of the title and the context of the scene the poster is depicting). What I got out of the movie is that you should take action before anything truly awful happens to you and your family.😨
@@ba-bakana4490 Yeah! And inaction is an action in itself 🎶☀️
Damn, a Plok mention on SEPW video in 2023, what a year. Play it dude! It's so good!
I cannot put in to words how good you are at making videos! Every video you make is a complete masterpiece that leaves me dumbfounded!
I also rewatch them on a regular basis, I hope you know how much people appreciate your work.
Napoleon Blownapart getting much deserved recognition! World-class snark/insight. Like RedLetterMedia for MMA
Foreshadowing is a narrative device...
Right? So glad Felix from Chapo Trap House recommended Napoleon to me like a year ago. And Redlettermedia is in their golden age as well.
He can get a bit too heavy on the metaphors/parables, but apart from that it's top tier. And I've never been seriously interested in fighting sports.
sad to be getting less of these, as these tend to be my favorite videos of yours. That said, I lost it when you said "WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THIS IS THE CHARACTER?!" XD
I'm stuck at an airport for another 2 hours, thanks John.
The Bear has been etched so deeply into my mind that the moment John told his steak anecdote I audibly shouted “THE BEAR!”
I honestly cannot think of a better person on this platform. keep going mate!
That ending proves that you're just as great an artist as those that you praise in each video.
Not true at all. Pivoting to standing in front of a green screen and throwing even more insufferable jokes into his videos has almost ruined the channel for me.
@@MrMetalforever5 Okay? That's just, like, you're opinion, man.
@@sparksdog8111 It sure is.
