i genuinely don't care what dc would have u believe, the only time zod would/should ever lose to superman is for example in the first movie when he had abt a week or less worth of sunlight exposure compared to clark who had been absorbing sunlight since childhood, besides that zod should win by a landslide...he is far more skilled than clark, he was literally made not just bred but made to be a warrior, most versions of clark don't even have combat training he just relies entirely on his durability, speed and strength which would make pretty much anyone win any fight if they could outlast and outspeed whoever, but zod has consistently been shown to lose to supes even with proper sunlight exposure
I love when people always use the" he don't have no combat skill" argument (which you can stay for a lot of characters who don't have a military flash warrior background) but never factored in intelligence, cunningness, and experience in other ways. While it true Superman combat skills, he makes it up down the line from filing other warrior like beings and it was trained later on in life by his closest allies. To a point where in situations when he lost his powers he can hang with people on Batman's level. Hell he fought four different Batmen b4. Plus he has childhood of understanding of his powers and know how the use them compared to zod who I have never been under a yellow sun b4 earth. And let's not forget about Superman 2 where he outsmarted zod as well in the end.
You realise that superman was not only taught multiple Kryptian martial arts but he was also taught things from Wonder Woman and others. He has incredible intelligence and has a strong defence against mind control. I would think DC knows the character better than anyone. Also the difference is Zod doesn’t hold back and cares little about human life, where as Superman holds back to stop needless deaths. Obviously not so much in MOS but the point remains.
Apparently, the OP is referring to the MoS version of Zod. Therefore, only that version of Superman should be compared. This means that Superman doesn't know Kryptonian martial arts.

Whats amazing is Zod only had a few days of him adapting to his powers. It was his military discipline, drive and shear training that allowed him to adapt so quickly. If only he had the idea to not adapt earth to krypton and to just keep it and make kryronian soldiers to invade the stars.
That's the only real downfall of the soldier mind, it's usually far too short-sighted. That's the whole reasoning behind officer training recruiting from outside of the enlisted (soldier) ranks. Zod was born and raised in krypton according to the movie their atmosphere is extremely harsh which would result in a stronger body and his military skills and probably hand to hand combat techniques would have been useful

Zod could in theory be immune to Kryptonite. I didn't even understand how they scripted Zod to be killed that easily by a simply neck break. It should be like impossible. Superman has zero fighting skills. Look how he was beat up when he had his powers removed by a mere bully.

In movies we can argue that, but if the powers are new to Zod, it should take him time to get used to those too. Like if he takes stance to throw a punch, the ground should crumble under the weight he is exerting, or he should move too far to slow...things like that. Superman's win over Zod could be a combo of: -Super good House of El genetics. Maybe not as good as Zod's, but still pretty good -Zod may not have fully adapted to Earth's atmosphere, and he was slightly weakened during his fight against Superman (just a theory of mine) -Superman had both more power (from absorbing more sunlight throughout his entire life) and greater skill with using those powers -Zod was basically suicidal after all of his troops got killed and his hopes for rebuilding Krypton were destroyed, while Superman was fighting to defend his adoptive homeworld. You said that heat vision is unique to kryptonians but is that ONLY when they are exposed to a yellow sun because in the movie he seems shocked or almost scared when his heat vision manifests and it didn't seem like he manifested it but rather that it was a progression of his exposure to our sun similar to Clark's just in a highly sped up manner. Same as his flying in MoS, it seemed like he suddenly realized he could fly.
Kryptonians under a red sun are like humans. They only get their powers (strenght, speed, invulnabillity, flight, heatvision, x-ray vision, freeze breath, super hearing, super vision = Seeing really long distance) I think I got them all. But under a red sun they are just like humans.

Krypton has 4 to 10 times Earth's normal gravity, so even without the yellow sun Kryptonians still would be at least 4 times stronger than a regular human at least

Superman is the character that actively limits his powers and constantly holds back his abilities. This is why he’s been seen as OP in many instances. And that’s what makes hood character unique, he’s a being with more power than “gods” and he chooses to be decent and keeps his humanity in front of his powers
Interesting and Great video, mainly the reason why his body didn't decompose that quickly as the regular body of a human would do. Is because Zod was also exposed to the sun inside the Black Zero but he was still adapting his senses due to the internal environment simulating Kryptonian atmosphere, but also due to his Kryptonian cells Zod's body took years and didn't decay. While it may lose solar energy over time it's not sure just how long that will take since he was killed at full power.
Kryptonian physiology makes sense. In Justice League (either version), wasn't Superman's body not decomposed when they used the Mother Box to revive him?
This might sound dumb, but one of my favorite aspects of General Zod is that he's effectively evil Superman. Some of Superman's best stories, at least for me, are when something has pushed the Man of Steel past his breaking point, and he puts down his self-imposed benevolence, to become one of Earth's most dangerous villains. You don't have to like Batfleck, but he's not strictly wrong when he implies we're only safe with Superman because Superman chooses to be that way, and on bad days, he could literally damn the world. Since that is Zod most days, and he is both organized ,and charismatic enough to attract, and manage, underlings, I sort of wish more of his stories went that route, where he was in charge, and the Justice League, or just Superman, had to stop that.
Imagine in a plot twist if Zod fought the Martian Manhunter in the Man of Steel DCEU film. Based on the Martian's powers, what would the final fight/battle in downtown look like compared to the original Kal-El vs Zod fight. Would Lois and the military treat MH similar or differently?
If Zod was to ever have encountered/fought Martian Manhunter in the final fight/downtown battle of Man of Steel, Zod would've been absolutely *annihilated* by MM. Martian Manhunter's array of powers/abilities would be unlike anything Zod had ever dealt with before and would thus prove to effectively pose a certified threat/challenge to Zod in several capacities.
Superman defeats Zod because of his love for humanity. Abilities aside fighting for love and survival is stronger then fighting for hate and anger. That's why Superman wins everytime.

2:57 - 3:07....While Superman *does* become a far deadlier opponent for most enemies after being pushed to his limits, that *still* wouldn't necessarily guarantee him being able to "beat literally anyone" in a straightforward battle and considering how *ridiculously* powerful Darkseid truly is compared to him (i.e. telekinetically restraining Superman, punching him straight into the Source Wall and hell, was even able to efficiently incapacitate Kal-El with merely *2 punches* etc), it's *very strongly* safe to say that Superman wouldn't be able to beat/defeat Darkseid *that* easily regardless of whether he was holding back or not. 💯
I’ve often wondered if anyone have done a real analysis of how much actual solar energy Superman could of stored just being on earth, while ignoring literally standing in front of the sun and stuff like that. I mean, the humanoid form is only so big(a poor solar panel), we wear cloths, spend a lot of our time indoors and it’s dark half of the day. Exactly how many days sunbathing would it take to power his heat vision for just one second?… 🤔
imagine a civilization that discovered the means to travel FTL3 over 30 thousand years ago, were able to terraform planets and create and manipulate artificial black-holes creating the smallest, most efficient solar radiation absorbing battery more powerful than any battery on earth regardless of its size in the DC multiverse. Now imagine that battery can not only absorb and store the energy for later use but convert it into other forms energy like heat, cold, propulsion, oxygen etc and that energy wont degrade or lose its charge over time. Now imagine that battery is in every single cell in your body. Zod was on Earth for less than a day and was able to use heat vision and x-ray vision for more than a second.
I dont think Suerman 'stores' solar energy. I think it awakens his abilities and keeps them active . If it was merely solar energy, he'd run out of that with the first major use of his power.

If it weren't for Hollywood's neck breaking which I thought was a BS nerf, Zod could Solo the entire Marvel & DC. Everything listed here is the same as superman. Superman has trained in various martial arts including those from Krypton. Superman is also much more intelligent than Zod. The thing that Zod has is a disregard to human life and superman holds back to inflict as little as possible. Once Superman stops holding back, he stomps Zod.
They would eventually die being on planets closer to the sun. Too much exposure to yellow sunlight gives kryptonians supercharged cells which is like their cancer.
zod reasoning and creating conflict on a new planet and wanting to terraform it to make it look like krypton yet he had to convert the son too. the biggest problem was that earth compare to krypton was like paradise 'earth' to tell.
Without Superman's plot armor to help him against Zod, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and even Captain Marvel (Shazam) would be able to best him. Well, Captain Marvel might have trouble because he's basically a transformed kid who holds back because of that, but Black Adam (evil Shazam) would probably lend an assist there because Black Adam would not want to bow to Zod's ego... and have that as his driving reason alone.

I don't think more time under the sun, means more power, but a Kry[ptonian must be charge enough to have full use of their powers. As far as rating Kal-El vs General Zod, Zod had more training and experience in battle and physique is more condition from both said training and experience. Kal-El, has lived a rule farm life and that of a city dweller, no special training but he has had some experience in battle, but I don't think that would improve his physic as his physical body has not been put under stress due to his soler powers, and we seen how weak Kal-El is without his powers, doing the heavy lifting for him. So the point is, in the Snidervers, as we seen Zod's body turned into a more powerful huge monster, a bigger, stronger Kryptonian physique, will receiver soler powers exponentially with size and muscle mass. So you had that with training plus experience and a full solar charge, Zod should have beat Superman down easily.
People saying Zod have better skills etc don't think that Kryptonians after exposure to sunlight and getting superpower needs to develops another fighting skills wich involve superpowers they never have before, and superman has it for 33 YEARS while zod in his 50 years of his life never been exposed as such to yellow sun (Kryptonites uses anti yellow sun suit)
What I think would be cool is if the Kryptonian powers resulted from their superior genetics. Imagine if Universe was a simulation and God is a fitness algorithm. There's only a few Kryptonians who had millions of years to further develop, which resulted in heavy algorithmical bias in favor of Kryptonians who were given superpowers to make them more likely to survive and thus raising the fitness score of entire Earth. If this was true, Superman's energy does not come from the Sun, which scientifically doesn't even make sense, but rather it is a life energy from Universe. You get some baseline support just from being born with significantly superior genome and you can get even more beyond that through things that are favored by the Universe, such as art, leadership, physical exercise and science. If you for example, write a book that algorithm rates highly, you might get months worth of baseline energy, plus a slowly decaying bonus that raises your baseline energy to make sure you are more likely to further create something great. Although if it was true, algorithm wouldn't hesitate to destroy entire nations to save the only Kryptonian as genetically speaking, humans would be back in business in a couple of decades while loss of the only Kryptonian would drastically lower the fitness score of the whole Earth, possibly even the Universe.
As a Kryptonian Zod is genetically built for extreme combat under the harshest conditions. Kel El isn't. He isn't even basically trained. Zod is way more powerful than Kel EL. That is indisputable. It's like arguing a Spartan general from a line of combatants vs. any other Roman citizen. Kel El has no chance other than Marvel having to keep him alive as a storyline protagonist.
Many people are saying that General Zod is technically weaker than Khalil because of Cal L exposure to a yellow sign. But I’m not so sure. I think it’s due to a biological advantage that Clark has over Zod. Think about it it’s a Clark 33 years for all of his powers to manifest within a timely fashion. Where is it took Zod, what, 30 minutes? If that, or 1 hr. The reason why I’m staying this is because I noticed after he died the yellow sun radiation absorbed into his DNA. His body did not hear from the scar that was given to him by Khalil‘s father. Meaning the original biology without the yellow sign remains the same. He is obviously much older than Khalil. And although he is not decrepit or on the decline. He is no longer at his peak of power he would’ve been when Khalil was a baby. I do not know the normal life expectancy of a kryptonian. However General Zod is just passed his peak. And he’s still able to keep up with super man for sometime. General Zod got his powers very early that means they picked or went into full maturity of what they would be in comparison to the 33 years it took Khalil to gain his powers elevate through his powers in mature to at least a full height at that point in time. So General Zod inferior slightly inferior strength is due to his biology. Essentially like 33 years of age man versus a 66 years of age men both are very strong for their age far beyond the normal strength of a regular man. However one is just past their prime and does not have the hit peak power they would if they were the same age as the one @ 33. So it is essentially a biological disadvantage. Even at the Superhuman level. Joe-El said somethin very interesting. “My son is twice the Man U were. He will finish what we started.” Superman’s dad is talking about General Zod no longer being in the peak of his power. Joe-El is praising the peak of his sons Strength physically & spiritually is twice as Strong as General Zod’s Peak 33 years Prior. Now that makes me question if God were at his peak of power, I’m not so sure Superman would stand a chance. Based on how close the battle was wow God is technically past his prime but it’s still extremely powerful and a very skilled fighter.

OK..I can discuss this at a few differnent levels. Gravity on Krypton is much stronger than on Earth..which is why Kryptonian's can fly. The thing is, Zod has been under and compacted by that gravity his whole life. Kal-El was only in that gravity for a comparatively brief amount of time. So Zod IS stronger than Kal-El because his bones and muscles are use to more developed in Kryptonian gravity. Secondly, as some have pointed out, Zod has military training. Which means he probably works out, making him even stronger. And while Kal-El MAY have learned some Kyrptonian martial arts..no where NEAR with the intensity or brutalness that Zod would have been trained under. The truth is, in a straight out physical confrontation, Zod should beat Kal-El EVERY SINGLE TIME.
This is so not true the gravity of krypton has nothing to do with their flight my friend. They can literally alter the gravity of their body you see how when Clark takes flight for the first time we see stones start to float up around him because he’s controlling the gravitational field around his body to allow for flight. This has nothing to do with krypton having a stronger gravity that would only make kryptonians innately stronger than humans as they have to manage that constant higher gravity effect on their bodies.

Simply put, because Kyptonian physiology is different to humans (having evolved in an atmosphere different to Earth's exact Nitrogen/Oxygen mix) Kryptonian cells do not oxidise and decay as human cells do (the mitochondria don't break down as quickly as in human cells) so the flesh will remain intact for longer.

With most versions of Superman he has no real clue how to fight just relying on his massive strength to see him through which gives Zod a big edge when they fight. Then you have the other versions of Zod where Krypton did more gene manipulation with it's population making them more genetically suited for certain jobs or roles which means Zod would be more genetically build for battle than Kal-El which would be another edge. Now given the insane number of universes in DC you could cherry pick your perfect Zod and Superman to fight counting every possible edge the other could have. So just pick Superman Prime, sure he is evil but he is the strongest version of Superman so win by default right?

I love when people always use the" he don't have no combat skill" argument (which you can stay for a lot of characters who don't have a military flash warrior background) but never factored in intelligence, cunningness, and experience in other ways.

You realise that superman was not only taught multiple Kryptian martial arts but he was also taught things from Wonder Woman and others. Apparently, the OP is referring to the MoS version of Zod. Therefore, only that version of Superman should be compared. This means that Superman doesn't know Kryptonian martial arts.

Whats amazing is Zod only had a few days of him adapting to his powers. It was his military discipline, drive and shear training that allowed him to adapt so quickly. If only he had the idea to not adapt earth to krypton and to just keep it and make kryronian soldiers to invade the stars.
That's the only real downfall of the soldier mind, it's usually far too short-sighted. That's the whole reasoning behind officer training recruiting from outside of the enlisted (soldier) ranks. You said that heat vision is unique to kryptonians but is that ONLY when they are exposed to a yellow sun because in the movie he seems shocked or almost scared when his heat vision manifests and it didn't seem like he manifested it but rather that it was a progression of his exposure to our sun similar to Clark's just in a highly sped up manner. Interesting and Great video, mainly the reason why his body didn't decompose that quickly as the regular body of a human would do. Is because Zod was also exposed to the sun inside the Black Zero but he was still adapting his senses due to the internal environment simulating Kryptonian atmosphere, but also due to his Kryptonian cells Zod's body took years and didn't decay. While it may lose solar energy over time it's not sure just how long that will take since he was killed at full power.

This might sound dumb, but one of my favorite aspects of General Zod is that he's effectively evil Superman. Some of Superman's best stories, at least for me, are when something has pushed the Man of Steel past his breaking point, and he puts down his self-imposed benevolence, to become one of Earth's most dangerous villains. You don't have to like Batfleck, but he's not strictly wrong when he implies we're only safe with Superman because Superman chooses to be that way, and on bad days, he could literally damn the world. Since that is Zod most days, and he is both organized ,and charismatic enough to attract, and manage, underlings, I sort of wish more of his stories went that route, where he was in charge, and the Justice League, or just Superman, had to stop that.
Imagine in a plot twist if Zod fought the Martian Manhunter in the Man of Steel DCEU film. Based on the Martian's powers, what would the final fight/battle in downtown look like compared to the original Kal-El vs Zod fight. Would Lois and the military treat MH similar or differently?

I don't think more time under the sun, means more power, but a Kry[ptonian must be charge enough to have full use of their powers. As far as rating Kal-El vs General Zod, Zod had more training and experience in battle and physique is more condition from both said training and experience. Kal-El, has lived a rule farm life and that of a city dweller, no special training but he has had some experience in battle, but I don't think that would improve his physic as his physical body has not been put under stress due to his soler powers, and we seen how weak Kal-El is without his powers, doing the heavy lifting for him. So the point is, in the Snidervers, as we seen Zod's body turned into a more powerful huge monster, a bigger, stronger Kryptonian physique, will receiver soler powers exponentially with size and muscle mass. So you had that with training plus experience and a full solar charge, Zod should have beat Superman down easily.
People saying Zod have better skills etc don't think that Kryptonians after exposure to sunlight and getting superpower needs to develops another fighting skills wich involve superpowers they never have before, and superman has it for 33 YEARS while zod in his 50 years of his life never been exposed as such to yellow sun (Kryptonites uses anti yellow sun suit)
What I think would be cool is if the Kryptonian powers resulted from their superior genetics. Imagine if Universe was a simulation and God is a fitness algorithm. There's only a few Kryptonians who had millions of years to further develop, which resulted in heavy algorithmical bias in favor of Kryptonians who were given superpowers to make them more likely to survive and thus raising the fitness score of entire Earth. If this was true, Superman's energy does not come from the Sun, which scientifically doesn't even make sense, but rather it is a life energy from Universe. You get some baseline support just from being born with significantly superior genome and you can get even more beyond that through things that are favored by the Universe, such as art, leadership, physical exercise and science. If you for example, write a book that algorithm rates highly, you might get months worth of baseline energy, plus a slowly decaying bonus that raises your baseline energy to make sure you are more likely to further create something great. Although if it was true, algorithm wouldn't hesitate to destroy entire nations to save the only Kryptonian as genetically speaking, humans would be back in business in a couple of decades while loss of the only Kryptonian would drastically lower the fitness score of the whole Earth, possibly even the Universe.
Super interesting concept
As a Kryptonian Zod is genetically built for extreme combat under the harshest conditions. Kel El isn't. He isn't even basically trained. Zod is way more powerful than Kel EL. That is indisputable. It's like arguing a Spartan general from a line of combatants vs. any other Roman citizen. Kel El has no chance other than Marvel having to keep him alive as a storyline protagonist.

Many people are saying that General Zod is technically weaker than Khalil because of Cal L exposure to a yellow sign. But I’m not so sure. I think it’s due to a biological advantage that Clark has over Zod.
Think about it it’s a Clark 33 years for all of his powers to manifest within a timely fashion. Where is it took Zod, what, 30 minutes? If that, or 1 hr.
The reason why I’m staying this is because I noticed after he died the yellow sun radiation absorbed into his DNA. His body did not hear from the scar that was given to him by Khalil‘s father. Meaning the original biology without the yellow sign remains the same. He is obviously much older than Khalil. And although he is not decrepit or on the decline. He is no longer at his peak of power he would’ve been when Khalil was a baby. I do not know the normal life expectancy of a kryptonian. However General Zod is just passed his peak. And he’s still able to keep up with super man for sometime.
General Zod got his powers very early that means they picked or went into full maturity of what they would be in comparison to the 33 years it took Khalil to gain his powers elevate through his powers in mature to at least a full height at that point in time. So General Zod inferior slightly inferior strength is due to his biology. Essentially like 33 years of age man versus a 66 years of age men both are very strong for their age far beyond the normal strength of a regular man. However one is just past their prime and does not have the hit peak power they would if they were the same age as the one @ 33. So it is essentially a biological disadvantage. Even at the Superhuman level.
Joe-El said somethin very interesting. “My son is twice the Man U were. He will finish what we started.” Superman’s dad is talking about General Zod no longer being in the peak of his power. Joe-El is praising the peak of his sons Strength physically & spiritually is twice as Strong as General Zod’s Peak 33 years Prior. Now that makes me question if God were at his peak of power, I’m not so sure Superman would stand a chance. Based on how close the battle was wow God is technically past his prime but it’s still extremely powerful and a very skilled fighter.

OK..I can discuss this at a few differnent levels. Gravity on Krypton is much stronger than on Earth..which is why Kryptonian's can fly. The thing is, Zod has been under and compacted by that gravity his whole life. Kal-El was only in that gravity for a comparatively brief amount of time. So Zod IS stronger than Kal-El because his bones and muscles are use to more developed in Kryptonian gravity. Secondly, as some have pointed out, Zod has military training. Which means he probably works out, making him even stronger. And while Kal-El MAY have learned some Kyrptonian martial arts..no where NEAR with the intensity or brutalness that Zod would have been trained under. The truth is, in a straight out physical confrontation, Zod should beat Kal-El EVERY SINGLE TIME.
This is so not true the gravity of krypton has nothing to do with their flight my friend. They can literally alter the gravity of their body you see how when Clark takes flight for the first time we see stones start to float up around him because he’s controlling the gravitational field around his body to allow for flight. This has nothing to do with krypton having a stronger gravity that would only make kryptonians innately stronger than humans as they have to manage that constant higher gravity effect on their bodies.
So Zod has the powers of a Kryptonian 😶

Simply put, because Kyptonian physiology is different to humans (having evolved in an atmosphere different to Earth's exact Nitrogen/Oxygen mix) Kryptonian cells do not oxidise and decay as human cells do (the mitochondria don't break down as quickly as in human cells) so the flesh will remain intact for longer.

With most versions of Superman he has no real clue how to fight just relying on his massive strength to see him through which gives Zod a big edge when they fight. Then you have the other versions of Zod where Krypton did more gene manipulation with it's population making them more genetically suited for certain jobs or roles which means Zod would be more genetically build for battle than Kal-El which would be another edge. Now given the insane number of universes in DC you could cherry pick your perfect Zod and Superman to fight counting every possible edge the other could have. So just pick Superman Prime, sure he is evil but he is the strongest version of Superman so win by default right?
