I was 14 when I seen the original video on MTV and it changed me as a teenager. Grew my hair long, pierced my ear, shredded my jeans and became a "Metal Head"
Mötley Crüe will always be one of the greatest bands ever! 🤘

they were true, both in good and bad sense at the same time, but true persons. At the time they lived their life as in their lyrics, and wrote lyrics by their real life experiences.

Tom F, +++! I saw God as a bright Light on 4 hits of acid in 1974. Scary at first! He rescued me while driving thru an apocalypse of tornadoes, volcanoes & exploding A-bombs in downtown Armageddon! Almost had a heart attack! He said "Don't be afraid", shaded me & fixed everything! This tune would have been perfect! The acid was supposed to be weak so we took 4. My friend was so scared he drank his whole bottle of wine, passed out & kept flopping in my lap. I had to push him up against the passenger's door 4 or 5 times while trying to drive safely! I called for help & God came to the rescue, even reviving my friend!

    You know I'm a dreamer
    But my heart's of gold
I had to run away high
So I wouldn't come home low
    Just when things went right
It doesn't mean they were always wrong
Just take this song, and you'll never feel
    Left all alone
    Take me to your heart
    Feel me in your bones
    Just one more night
    And I'm comin' off this
    Long & winding road
    I'm on my way
    I'm on my way
    Home sweet home...
    Tonight, tonight
    I'm on my way
    I'm on my way
    Home sweet home...
    You know that I've seen
    Too many romantic dreams
    Up in lights, fallin' off
    The silver screen
My heart's like an open book
For the whole world to read
    Sometimes nothing
    Keeps me together
    At the seams
    I'm on my way
    I'm on my way
    Home sweet home...
    Tonight, tonight
    I'm on my way
    Just set me free
    Home sweet home...
    Home sweet home...
    Home sweet home...
    Home sweet home...
    I'm on my way
    I'm on my way
    Home sweet home...
    Yeah!
    I'm on my way
    Just set me free
    Home sweet home

This song always plays after a long time being far from home... I gotta say that the piano intro makes cry some tears... One of the most beautiful rock songs ever... Thank you, Motley Crue. This version from 1991 is as awesome as the original one from 1985.
PD: I'm 27 years old... I wasn't even born when Motley Crue was rocking. My dad introduced me to many rock legends when i was just a 6 years old little kid who sneaked into his audio cassettes which I still keep them as a treasure in my room.

Home Sweet... was not a " hard ballad". It was an honest, sentimental account how far the guys had gone from their beginnings. It Was The Firs. It was a tremendous success and then ALL hair bands had a "ballad" in their albums. The reference to the Long And Winding Road is awesome. They had already done Helter Skelter to show that they were one the biggest bands in the world.

Just a great song, in general. No matter, where it is played or sung, (Resonates with us all. :) or by whom. I am now part of a generation, that has seen history repeat itself for the first time at scale. These are the things and songs I have carried with me on my journey. That have allowed me to be who I am and live through my formative years. We are also so lucky to now to still be able to share their music, in so many ways. An Anthem to the "Enstranged", but a part of us all. :)

They actually played a good tune on MTV? All I remember is
new wave & transvestites jumping around like chickens with
their heads cut off! I stuck with alternative college radio where
      I finally heard this one.
