Standard & Strange is one of the best stores in the country for sure!! I hope they eventually carry Brother Bridge and Wheel Robe. They are very well made and are quite affordable compared with the other JP brands.
OMG !! This is just around the corner from 3 must stop places when I am in NYC...DS and Durga, ScentBar, and Prince Street Pizza...how did I not know about this !! Thanks for the tip looking forward to visiting the store in a few weeks !!
The best store. I didn't spend enough time when I visited last year but can't wait to get back. Their shop in Santa Fe is totally different as well. Isidro curates a wildly different style of inventory. So much fun.
@@Stridewise yeah Isidro in Santa Fe doesn't like leather jackets so they don't carry any and hardly any footwear. Lovely SW vibe though. Some of those Bode shirts were incredible.
Congratulations to Mr. Kyle Foxworth for his promotion to Standard & Strange Management! I recall seeing Kyle on an older Red Wing video with Nick and CJ Cook. A trip to New York to try on a few pairs of boots highlighted on that Boot Wall would be well worth a trip.
Time to expand into the world of lace to toe boots? I need you to get obsessed with them so I can know what to avoid and what to look for. Can’t wait for your top ten list! 😂
It is weird seeing these boots that are hand made, but not specifically for a singular person sell for so much money. I get it you have to take into account import fees, man hours, store profit margins and more but they're more or less selling a mythos based on a brand name for 1200 to almost 2000 dollars. Those Lofgrens and Clinch boots are nice, but I can't look past the law of diminishing returns.
I know what you mean. It seems like for some people, the difference between a $300 boot and a $1000+ boot is negligible. I wish that was the case for me lol
There are differences between $1500 boots and $500 boots, they just might be insignificant to some guys. Like what I like about this space is that cost usually isn't to do with a name, it's because of measurable differences like hand welting and material sourcing and stuff. But that isn't me insisting everyone should pay this much, rather that there are justifications to do so. Kinda like how any watch tells the time but the pricier ones are harder to make with rarer components etc
It's hard because I don't think anyone can inherit my boots unless they inherit my feet. However, I love the idea that someone gets put that much work into creating footwear!
Yes guys who say their sons will inherit their boots are really assuming the best haha but I do like that boots can be sold when you don't wear them anymore. I just put two on eBay today!
Yeah that’s true. I can sort of wear some of my Granddads old boots and shoes. His feet are a half to one size longer, but apparently a similar enough shape/footbed. It’s possible since your kid could statistically/genetically have similar shaped feet as long as they’re the right size. My oldest son’s feet are a clone of mine just don’t know what his adult size will be. My youngest sons feet are much more like my wife’s wide Fred Flintstone feet.
I have never purchased anything from S&S but love their selection and ethos* so much that I check out every drop anyway. My wallet is very glad that brands like Clinch and RDT will never fit my big dumb feet. (Although, RDT does make some really cool boots and shoes that are a bit more affordable than the ones shown in this vid, like the Coupen shoes which are under $600 with the weak yen). *Though I wish they'd dropped Lofgren during the whole uproar over his unsavoury comments about non-Japanese makers. He hides behind a devotion to ethically sourced materials and ethically made boots and uses that to excuse a lot of really nasty comments about work done in countries he doesn't approve of and comes across as very racist, frankly. Also, he doesn't make anything himself and charges Clinch money for much more run-of-the-mill mass-produced GYW footwear that's made under his label on contract in other factories. I was slightly baffled by S&S sticking with him after that debacle.
Every time Nick does a video with someone who’s talking about an item, he GRABS it from the person who has to stay calm when he looks like he wants to throttle Nick. Not a criticism, just an observation.
Nick, Nick, Nick. Where is a promo code? I would really appreciate a small discount code for Standard and Strange website🤟🏻 There us a pair of boots I want to buy from them, just a tad over budget. Well worth the money. Out of my budget by a hair. Thanks for the content!
I've searched and searched and there's no store like it in L.A. It's truly one of a kind. I suggest if you like various boots carried by S&S just search each boot individually, sometimes on their websites it'll have a Where to Buy or Stockists section and you can sometimes find local vendors in your area that way. I've done that a lot with various niche denim brands.
I was just listening to this and not watching until the end and i for sure thought it was a woman. What a shocker lol. Looks like a cool place to check out some jeans for sure
Nice to see Kyle in charge of a store, he was really nice and passionate in the videos at the NYC redwing store
The man is moving up in the world (also, good memory!)

Tell 'em I sent ya, Mike! This is the best store of its kind in NYC
The best store. I didn't spend enough time when I visited last year but can't wait to get back. Their shop in Santa Fe is totally different as well. Isidro curates a wildly different style of inventory. So much fun.
Really! I love each store reflecting the personalities of the owner and different segments of the niche

Kyle Buah, Nice interview Buah!
Awesome episode!

Love Standard and Strange. Some day my Quick Strikers will arrive from them!
Keep up the great work!
Appreciate it, David!
The BEST boot store in NYC by far!
What an excellent shop. Wish we had it here in Canada. Just superb inventory. I’m drooling but I do that lots I’m old 🤣 Man you must love your job👍
I own the Casper boot from Rolling Dub Trio. An amazing boot, but you have to order two sizes down
Every shot of jeger boots on net gets me exided!
I know they're... they're so god damn nice
Beautiful store, beautiful footwear

Japanese boots look so good! My wallet did not need me to see this.
Look away!!!
@@StridewiseNo, Nick! We can't un-see that Boot Wall!

Such a cool store
Really enjoying this series even though I don't live in NY.
I was hoping people who didn't live here would, thanks for taking the time to voice your support!
May I ask the brand of the leather jacket that you are wearing. Is it Thursday Boot brand?
Oh it's this one! ruclips.net/video/6T7Ay8tWqr0/видео.html

Standard and Strange in Temescal Oakland is the best!
Would love to visit!
At 3:05 what are those black boots with zipper going down the center?
Looks like RDT’s whaler boot I think.

Is there a similar store in Los Angeles?
Just Oakland!
There really needs to be a mens store similar to this in Los Angeles! Someone make this happen!!

Just watching this video will end up costing me at least a grand.
Lose the tunes with the Drum beat !!!!!!!

I love the tortured love hate relationship guys like you have with the channel hehehe
