My grandma used to make the tod muns; deep fried fish cakes. Yes. They are made of mashed fish meat mixed with red curry, kaffir lime leaves, and string beans. They can be eaten with rice as an entree or snacks like you guys did. The spicy noodles with fish and pork balls looked a bit toned down. They usually make them much more spicier for Thais.
So good to finally see the both of you in Asia! The balls in the soupy noodles are fish balls and fish paste. You’re in the right place for an epic food adventure! Stay safe you two ❤️❤️
Thanks a lot, we're having a great time here! And the food is of course incredible 😊 We've had fish balls a few more times now, but they were new to us 😁 Nice to see that you're following along with our Asia journey, too! 🙂 Stay safe!
Wang Lang market thank you for sharing, i enjoyed the entire tour. I’m here in Bangkok but never heard of this market.. excited to visit and do my vlog. Stay safe.
I just came across your channel and I’m so glad y’all had a good time trying the cuisine. I just booked my flight back to BKK to visit family after waiting foreverrr. Can’t wait! Y’all deserve way more subs 😊
Love that place... was there a couple of days ago. I feel your pain in trying to vlog in a crowded market and eat at the same time. I kept having to hide in alleys too so ai could eat and vlog without being in everyone's way :) ... Great video by the way.
Thank you! Yes the Wang Lang market is great! Filming in busy places is definitely a challenge and 50% of the time is always needed for finding a suitable place to eat 😁
Hi, thank you for the kind words! 🙂 We're currently not in Bangkok anymore, as we are travelling around Thailand, but thank you for the offer! The next time we're in Bangkok it would be great to have someone show us around!
You guys come to the land of heaven, delicious street food. and the cheapest in the world But don't eat it very spicy because you guys don't often eat it. There is a local Thai market. There are few foreigners Must be in Chatuchak and Sukhumvit areas. There are definitely a lot of foreigners.
Tolles Video!! 'Kanom Krok' (Kokosnuss-Pfannekuchen) ist das beste Frühstück wo gibt! haha 😅'Wang Lang' bedeutet eigentlich hinterer Palast, weil sich auf der anderen Seite des Flusses auch der vordere Palast befindet. Dieser Bereich war in der Vergangenheit der Palastbereich für den König. 😉
Wang=palace Lang=behind or back When we built the city, we had a palace for the king call WANG LHUNG(Grand Palace) For the crown prince WANG NAH (Nah=in front or face) And then the palace for another prince or brother of the king WANG LANG so SOI WANG LANG (where this market is locate) is mean the way, passage, to WANG LANG. Hope this will help you. Enjoy your stay.
The yellow things inside crispy prepe is jala mas (Protugese dessert, called foi thong in Thai). You can see some protugese dessert in Thailand coz they are 1st western nation came to TH. :)
Wish you both have a nice time in Thailand. Try to come up north to Chiangmai. The last sweet you try is call ‘Kanom Krok ‘ the original one not have corn but now a day they can put many topping such as corn ,pumpkin , taro . Enjoyed your time and safe trip
wow thanks for the video! ah i missed my home country (rn im studying/working abroad in the US) if you have nosebleed it might happened from extreme heat or temperature fluctuation it might be bc your body might not acclimate to Thailand/BKK's climate yet take yourself easy talking about names, Wang Lang means "behind-palace" or "rear-palace" but it didnt refers to location of the market relative to the palace it actually refers to another palace entirely in Thai history there were no explicit rule of succession Thai kings from Ayutthaya period onward constructed many palaces when they were old they have their brothers or sons whom they deemed suitable as heir to the throne moved in to one of the important palaces one of them are called "front palace" (Wang Na), situated at the front of the royal palace where king resided the direction is relative to the direction of attack from invading army (especially the Burmese army) so the palace location is intended as the strategic first line of defense from enemy that's why the prince who resided there was considered important in status the term therefore not only refers to the physical palace, but noble title and royal office the front palace is where the heir presumptive was resided, the prince who resided here was considered second only to the king (sometimes translated as viceroy or vice-king) another palace, constructed behind the royal palace was the Wang Lang, literally "rear palace" this is the second heir to the throne, in case that the first heir dies before succession King Chulalongkorn, Rama V, abolished the system of front/rear palace in favors of the more clearer title of the crown prince
Glad you liked the video! 😊 And thanks for the in-depth explanation, that's very interesting! 🙂 We also think the nose bleed was die to the hot heat and cold AC combo and it hasn't happened again since 😊
@simon name of wang lang came from palace for prince in the past history of Thai monarchy not from long street . You missed many fantastic dishes like “ fried beef in chili and basil” . Next time should try. Sawatdee
Yes, we definitely have a lot more dishes to try! The "long street" wasn't a serious guess, but we've since learned about where the name actually came from 😁
Enjoy ur un-touristry market place, Lovely street food, Wang Lang in Thai mean "The back of Royal Palace" the name derived from market that located river opposite side of Main Grand palace. Look forward to ur next clip. Keep it up good work then.👍
Wang Lang is actually mean behind the palace ( Wang = Palace , Lang = Behind) . as you can see this market is on the opposite with Wat Pra Kaew and the Palace.
white meat ball made from fish, brown meat ball from shrimp (shrimp is very small part but we still called it shrimp meat ball). we normally don't eat thai pancake (ka-nom krok) in double, we prefer to eat it in a full piece(not bite it), be aware that it will be very hot and can burn your mouth.
Hey Zoe & Simon, in general you won't find any tissues at all at any public toilet stall in Thailand. There are usually some (pink) vending machines in front of the toilets or where the washing sinks are. There you have to purchase some tissues or you bring them with you. And pls don't throw them in the toilet, but into the bin, so the water pipes don't get clogged.
Thank you, yes that's valuable info 😁 We've now mostly figured out how it works, but there are always going to be new situations where things are slightly different. And then it's important not to panic 😁
When you eat Thai noodle soup, you need to add the seasoning items by yourself. The chef only make light flavor and you need to add the seasoning by your own so it's delicious or not delicious it's depend on you how you put the seasoning lol
We would love to go back to Vietnam on this trip! A few years ago we travelled to Vietnam and fell in love with the country, so we'll have to see if we can manage to visit again soon 🙂
I must go to Wang Lang! [Sigh!] I think the "crispy crepes" had white and black sesame on it, as does a Naan. The stringy yellow filling is actually sweetened, cooked egg-yolk. It has a fascinating story behind it. Maria Guiomar de Pina is such an interesting woman (She introduced the Portugese Fios de ovos to Siam).
The meanings of “ Wang Lang” market are Wang= Palace & Lang= Back side. Wang Lang means palace that in the back of the other palace(s). Enjoy your video. 👍👍👍
I have heard that 7 days hotel quarantine is needed for staying in Bangkok. Is it recent video? Can u please tell me about the current regulations for staying in Bangkok as a tourist.
It's probably best if you check the current regulations on the official website, as we don't want to give you any false information accidentally 😁 We came to Thailand at the beginning of January with the Test & Go program, which requires a one day quarantine in a certified hotel + PCR test on arrival and after 5-6 days. The program was put on hold, but it will be continued at the end of January. So be sure to check the current regulations online 🙂
Wow, Wang Lang is actually on my schedule for my upcoming trip to Thai, not many tourists go there but it's actually a foodie hidden gem!
Yes, we loved Wang Lang market and we'll definitely need to come back more often to try some more food 🙂

When you were at Wang Lang, you were very close to the oldest School of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital in Thailand. Just across the street, to be exact.
Interesting, didn't know that!
This is my fav market, I always take my guests to there to get a good food and cheap.
We really liked the atmosphere there! And the food was great too, of course 🙂

wow thanks for the video!
ah i missed my home country
(rn im studying/working abroad in the US)
if you have nosebleed it might happened from extreme heat or temperature fluctuation
it might be bc your body might not acclimate to Thailand/BKK's climate yet
take yourself easy
talking about names, Wang Lang means "behind-palace" or "rear-palace"
but it didnt refers to location of the market relative to the palace
it actually refers to another palace entirely
in Thai history there were no explicit rule of succession
Thai kings from Ayutthaya period onward constructed many palaces
when they were old they have their brothers or sons whom they deemed suitable as heir to the throne
moved in to one of the important palaces
one of them are called "front palace" (Wang Na), situated at the front of the royal palace where king resided
the direction is relative to the direction of attack from invading army (especially the Burmese army)
so the palace location is intended as the strategic first line of defense from enemy
that's why the prince who resided there was considered important in status
the term therefore not only refers to the physical palace, but noble title and royal office
the front palace is where the heir presumptive was resided,
the prince who resided here was considered second only to the king (sometimes translated as viceroy or vice-king)
another palace, constructed behind the royal palace was the Wang Lang, literally "rear palace"
this is the second heir to the throne, in case that the first heir dies before succession
King Chulalongkorn, Rama V, abolished the system of front/rear palace in favors of the more clearer title of the crown prince
Glad you liked the video! 😊 And thanks for the in-depth explanation, that's very interesting! 🙂 We also think the nose bleed was die to the hot heat and cold AC combo and it hasn't happened again since 😊
mayby rode 🤖 recycle resource is in bustub ,too

I'm Thai and I don't think it's lemongrass on crispy crepes 😆😅 but it's possible that is a skin of kaffir lime.
Yeah we also noticed afterwards that lemongrass would probably be way too hard to eat, so you're right! 😁
You should probably use a picture of zoe as the cover image Because I'm your fan already 😂😂😂🙏🙏
😂😊

Excellent video.
Your bleeding symptom should be checked. Thailand has some excellent hospitals, primarily designed for foreigners (medical tourism).
Thank you! Yes, we think that it was mainly due to the cold AC, but we'll keep an eye on it 🙂
