Zoe should eat that Tom Kha (I actually think it looks more like Tom Yum with shrimps) with rice. Thai people usually don't eat curry or any kind of spicy soup by itself. You need rice to balance the spiciness. Next time you can try it with rice and maybe some fried vegetable/eggs to reduce the spiciness.
You've got a good eye! Yes you're totally right it was a Tom Yum, Zoe just noticed that she accidentally said Tom Kha 😁 That's a good tip with the rice, a hot bowl of soup that is also spicy always feels double as hot 😅
I can translate what was happening in @10.01 and 10.08. Actually, it's quite common in Thailand that the waiter communicates in loud voice in very hot, hectic and noisy environment. First, waiter told the cook that customer wanted the stirred fried chicken curry in bowl (instead of in dish) **(I believe there must be some conversation happened in between) Then, waiter screamed back to the cook "So what ?, if customer wants it in the bowl, just make it happen".

Patongo is actually a Chinese fried dough. It is called "yo(u)tiao" in Mandarin. In mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, it is usually a big, long stick. But the Thai version is Chinese immigrants from the Chaozhou or Chaozhou region of Guangdong who prefer this smaller size. Of course, it’s Thai style with sweetened condensed milk. (Same as roti or paratha that Thais eat with sweetened condensed milk, while in Malaysia and Singapore they eat it with curry.) The Chinese usually dip soy milk in soy milk and bite off the top. For me, I like to tear it into small pieces and pour it into coffee with cream or rice porridge. Most tourists end up enjoying delicious food in Bangkok or Singapore's Chinatown. Local Thai or Singaporean food is mostly Chinese food modified from Chinese immigrants. Commonality in food that modified from Chinese immigrants into Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines etc.. Usually people end up in China Town that can be in Australia and the rest of the world for delicious food. Forgotten the hidden heaven food and with welcoming Dayak alcoholic drinks, traditional music and dances from Sabah (British North Borneo) and Sarawak (once ruled white Rajah Brooke as Sultan) located in Borneo Island. Welcome and stay longer and enjoy your paradise hidden in the rain forest.

@zoe and simon You should eat Thai food with rice and then you will get best taste. rice can help reduce spicy taste. except noodle you can eat without rice.
