Dr. Joe DeMarco, chiropractor and owner of OcraMed Health, discusses and demonstrates how to fix a knot in your upper back with a 5 step program.
Most upper back knots involve the upper trapezius muscle. A knot is a build up of fascial adhesion (AKA Scar Tissue) resulting from poor blood flow, poor nerve flow, muscular weakness, poor posture, etc.
In today's video, I show you a 5 step plan to eliminate your knot in your upper trapezius muscle. Once your knot has gone away, if you continue with these techniques in a maintenance type fashion (perform them 1-2 times per week), the knot most likely will not return.
Give these techniques a try for a couple of weeks and let me know what you think in the comment section down below. I'd love to hear your feedback!

Could this help after "whiplach" related pain as well ? I have had problems (stiffness and bad mobility) in my right upper trapezius for many years now. I'm 70 and going to the gym 3 times a week now to try to get in shape until my 71 th birthday in september.

A tight upper trap can happen following a whiplash type injury. These techniques can be helpful for most types of upper trap tightness/knotting. Good luck with your training my friend!!

Don’t know if this would help, but a few weeks ago I did a video on loosening up the SCM muscles of the neck. Hope that can help.

I noticed that my right upper trap usually is more stiff and knotty than my left trap. I'm assuming it's because I always have my right arm active, holding my computer's mouse.

Most likely the cause. Hope the video helps! Good luck!!

Yes, that probably is the reason. These exercises will likely help you but you should also look into a forearm support like Ergorest to address the underlying problem. Eliminate the load on your shoulder from using a mouse.
