Yeah, I actually remember the very first time I booted up my original Wii copy of Twilight Princess. It blew my mind, and that's not a phrase I use lightly. I was beside myself with excitement. I thought I was going to explode. The game didn't let me down. I've played or watched people play almost everything Zelda that's ever been released, but Twilight Princess remains my favourite.

Nintendo is still being overly cautious about using that look because they caused subpar sales more than 20 years ago, gamers are more open minded now. WW HD probably didn’t move many units, Nintendo likely blamed the art style again and not the fact it came out on an unpopular console. Following WW they made games starring Toon Link for lower budget handheld entries, did they avoid doing it for the Switch because handhelds are now powerful enough to require a home console budget? Is Nintendo that averse to cartoony Zelda? The performance goals you mentioned should be doable if the future system has DLSS 2.
@@mir8651 Nintendo EPD has for sure said that with BoTW they have settled on an art style. I expect spin offs and lower budget games to continue to play around a bit with their apperance, the major games will likely resemble BoTW and ToTK.

I love the work, the only nickpick I have about it is the grass textures that, at a distance, its pattern is pretty noticeable, whereas in the original the pattern is easy to ignore
That's just one of the difficulties of using high-resolution textures. When the image is low-fidelity, your brain fills in the details and doesn't notice or care about the repeated pattern as much. When it's high-resolution, though, each tile has more detail for your brain to notice and memorize, and we also perceive images differently the closer we get to photo-realism, both of which make the repetition more obvious and jarring.
This is gorgeous! Makes me want to buy a PC to replay twilight princess in this 4k glory. Bravo, Henriko. Best LoZ gameplay and swordplay wise (imo) and you've managed to make it stand out to me again. I must play it.
love these custom 4k texture packs. the one for mario galaxy is incredible and this looks just as good. it's crazy what a massive difference a 4k retexture will do

This is absolutely gorgeous. I would love it if this was the base game. The models are definitely in need of an upgrade though. Without a model improvement, this is as beautiful as it can get
I'll be honest, the contrast is messing with me personally. All of the textures look amazing, but certain things like the player model textures and colors for example don't feel like they match the game just quite. Maybe there's a way to adjust it, it looks great otherwise, it just seems like it's changing the tone of the game based off the shading I've seen.
I'm hoping for something like the this for the Switch 2, but they pull a xenoblade definitive edition and give us new character models. Otherwise, the HD textures don't mesh with the low GC poly models.
Man it's a real shame you're not doing this for the Cemu version. It plays much better for me than the gamecube one. Can't play in 16:10 ratio and camera controls are inverted.
i truly feel like this game shaped me as a person lol. i played this nonstop from a very young age all the way up to now, at 23 years old. i honestly dont love any other zelda game like i love this one. i dont think nintendo will ever make a zelda game like this again and that is gut wrenching.
@@danklegend4584 I have, just being bitter about it lol. It just bugs me that Nintendo doesn't make its library unified on their current console like the likes of Xbox and Playstation. Like you can play Xbox 360 games on the Xbox series X, but you can't play Wii u games on the switch. This is why I fully support emulation.

There is currently no stable 60 fps patch for Twilight Princess, sorry. But some of my other packs, such as Ocarina of Time 3D, Luigi's Mansion and the Pikmin packs do support 60 fps.

This would be cool, but I believe a FULL Remaster would be better. With extra content and new stories untold, like they could’ve done waaaay more with the resistance group, add new quests, possibly new characters? And hell maybe a larger overworld, or done something more with the Twilight Realm as well. I dunno lol
I’m currently on my second play through of twilight princess with this exact texture pack. But if I may ask what settings for the shaders are you using? I’ve tried all sorts of things but I can’t seem to replicate how they look in this trailer.
Thank you! Unfortunately lightning is one of the areas which cannot be improved without a major rework of the game's code, which is not possible currently. There are however lots of improvements to material rendering in the texture pack, which makes surface reflections and material properties much more realistic and detailed than before, which improves the look of the lighting a fair bit as well.
The video started, default video quality settings had it at 720p - 30 seconds in I was like... jeez, really?? Can barely tell the difference Switched it over, lol what a differnece
