OH MY GODDNESSSSSS youtube knows me so well today. this is literally the part that made me fall in love listening to this concerto . i fold and die to this section. very very very beautiful part this concerto means a lot to me i actually wonder how this got recommended to me because i listen to this quite frequently but not on youtube
This Concerto already has like 1.4M views on RUclips so I wouldn't say it's that neglected now. Other hidden gems like Bortkiewicz and Henselt should get more attention imo
@@rugby8-Philadelphia I did upload Bortkiewicz 1 a while ago, it's much better than the one with most views on RUclips now so make sure to check it out. I'm also working on the Henselt Concerto right now (Hamelin's recording).
All the beauty always coincidentally happens in the key of E major (like Rach Op.18, 2nd mvt, Chopin Op.10 no.3, Chopin Op.11 2nd mvt, Reubke Sonata 2nd theme, Liszt Soneta 104), Its one of the richest keys to write in. Moszkowski was one of those forgotten romantic composers, so underrated .
I have this recording on CD. It’s part of a Vox set. You should know that the fourth movement is completely left off!!!! The people who transferred it from the original LP recording apparently didn’t know it’s in four movements. Shocking. I would encourage you to look for another recording if you’re interested in buying it. There are better played versions. I’ve heard this played live and have two friends who’ve performed it with orchestras in Ohio and California. It’s also very popular in England.
Moszkowski should be far more mainstream, rather than being famous only for his Spanish Dances. Nothing he wrote is ever less than excellent and beguiling. Ponti rather plows through it here.
@@Medtszkowski my favorite recording ive found is by Markus Pawlik, the link to the performance is here if you want to listen ruclips.net/video/eh3l8I-JT4Q/видео.html
I think Isaishi is more subtle than this BUT if you know music by Shiro Sagisu and Kohei Tanaka, both with a big postromantic influence, you can def hear that here
not really😭 this is strongly romantic while most of hisaishi's works are way more influenced by styles like french impressionism, jazz and new age-ish music
