In this episode, we begin framing the interior walls of our off grid shipping container home. Now that all of the perimeter walls are done, we are ready to start framing all of the rooms. If you enjoy our videos, make sure you LIKE & SUBSCRIBE! It really helps out our channel😊 Развлечения
You’re the best team on the internet doing this work. God Bless you both... Thank You 🤓
You need to subscribe to My Self Reliance for a real treat.
Always love seeing the progress week to week. Been stuck in the mud a few times myself, but Bear looks like that's where he'd rather be. :)
I enjoy watching your progress. If you get stuck in the mud or wet grasses, the best way out is to lower the tire pressure to 18 pounds. It works every time here on my farm. When you get back to the house, refill the air to your running pressure.
Getting close now Guys, what a bonding experience for you to, you will challenges in you life an this working together will help you overcome almost anything, good luck to you , Terry From Scotland 👴🏻
I love you kids so I am so grateful to know you have family close👍Truly I was so relived to know that Spencers grandfather was near by 💗
It’s really coming together! Your videos are the best part of my RUclips week!
that epoxy really ties the room together.
Randy Throckmorton Same 😊
Randy Throckmorton Their videos is the best part of my life.
I've been researching into building container homes and discovered a fantastic resource at Magic Container Plans (check it out on google)
hey ,if anyone else trying to find out build your own shipping container home try Jadonite Shipping Container Buddy (just google it ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my mate got cool success with it.
Hey, in case you get stuck again, you can use the 2x4's as a lever to shove against the bumpers... shove it in under the bumper at a steep angle, about 60 degrees, and so the end digs into the soil and mud to anchor it solidly so you can push the vehicle back. As long as you're on level ground, it doesn't take a lot to move a car a short distance or out of shallow holes.
If you are going to drive on the mud I suggest that you add a Come A Long, 2 ea. 6 ft long lengths of 3/8 chain with hooks, and one of those yellow towing straps to your car kit. This would have pulled you out that mud with ease and saved you that fruitless walk back to the house. I love the way your place is coming together and look forward to seeing the finished product.
Was in Savanna GA and saw evergreen containers going up and down the river in huge ships. Thought of this channel.
Awesome videos!
I live in Savannah & driving by the ports is inspiring.
I think Foreman "Bear" is doing a bang up job! Awesome job , keep at it.
I think bear needs a raise lol
Fuh Q
Cool Beans!!! Looks like you are finished with the exterior of the interior walls, floor plan walk will be good!! Hope getting stuck doesn't dampen the desire to return for blackberries!!
WWII stuck jeep trick: Long rope attached to the car with other end attached to a tree as high up are you can reach. Go to the middle of the rope and pull down (to the side if needed) and the force applied at the middle is magnified by the length of the rope and should greatly assist in getting the car unstuck.
Think of putting some extra blocking above the windows for curtains or blinds. That way you’ll always hit wood. Also if your planning on wall TVs extra blocking there will help.
I've watched all your Vids and like you guys I've been looking forward to this moment. Well done to you both. Love the way you stuck with it. 👍👍👍
You both are nice couple. Wish you all the best for every work.
Best part of my week is a new progress update video from you two lovebirds! I would love to see a longer whole day journey, mini movie, day in the life good and bad. I'll grab the popcorn! Great life to you both!
Always carry a huge bag of cat litter, works in snow also ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful property, you are beautiful blessed ❤️❤️❤️
I'm really enjoying watching your progress. Keep up the good work!
Looking good! Exciting times! Bear, LOL so cute!
A nice little cart to get to drive around your property might be a 4×4 golf cart. They are kinda pricey but used ones can be found and cleaned up. 2-4 seater with a small plastic bed. Trailer hitch can be installed.
Still watching ads but you all just made my night. I was so bored and here you are, lol 😜
So well done to both of you ... Love yr Home ⭐️💙
Next time you find yourself stuck like that, let about half of the air out of your tires. That gives you almost the equivalent of chains. Let the tires down until they get fairly wide, but if you go too far you might break the bead(s) and then you have additional problems. So use your best judgment. And I shouldn't have to mention this, but just let out the air in your drive tires.
Be sure to have a battery powered air compressor in the car, and just as importantly, replace the accessory fuse with a breaker. This trick got me off of "Land's End" near Grand Junction, Colorado one winter in my Saturn (yeah, not wise...). It also got me through Alabama during the Feb. '96 ice storm.
Najinteresantnije sto sam gledala do sad svaka cast za tako mlade ljude svaka cast skidam kapu
Love it. Been following you guys since the beginning of your build. It's really coming together. Currently deployed overseas and every time I watch your vids makes my day. Keep up the good work. You guys are an inspiration. Looking forward to your next vid.
Thank you for your service, CJ. Hope you're back on US soil soon. God bless you.
@@02271953me Thank you
You should dig up some of the blackberry plants and start a patch closer to home. Take a small portion of several existing patches so as to keep them where they are already established. Add a few more each spring. I think it is good not to let them produce fruit the first year so they focus energy on root growth, but I am sure there are tutorials that can give full instruction.
Also, coming from a very snowy place...never spin your wheels when stuck. Best to ease it out slowly. I could hear my dad's voice preaching in my head as your wheels spun lol
Wendy W I came here to say this. Snow drivers know to not gun it.
Я балдею от вас, ребята!!! Не от того, что и как вы делаете. А от того ЧТО и КАК вы делаете!!!!
I love Saturdays.
Really enjoy fallowing the build
Just use caution standing on the bucket. Hanging drywall stepped up on the bucket was the worst injury I've ever had.
Love you guys keep up the good work...
Hello guys. I just wanna say congratulations. It is an incredible work. Regards from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴
It's coming along great! Finally sealed, windows in and walks framed...great job!
The place is looking great. Nice job. Harbor freight sells a cheap winch that works great
a "come-a-long" type wench
Love picking Blackberries.. I see a quad in your future...
Hi, Spencer and Mackenzie!
I was watching a bunch of DIY videos on RUclips because my wife and I tore out the old carpet in the basement and put in a new floor. Then we were learning about doing a bathroom remodel. And that’s when RUclips suggested your channel and now I’m hooked.
I went back to the beginning to watch your whole journey and I’m up to here now, which I guess is about halfway.
I just wanted to say that I think you guys are awesome. I love the way you deal with setbacks and adversity. And the way you have fun together while your working.
Keep up the good work.
Turn the Patio into a Gran Family Room with a Mantel Fireplace & with a large slide door going out to a new covered patio. The baby would love it. Just saying. I also live in TEXAS. My husband is also a builder. GOD BLESS! Thumb up👍
Hey guys, i can't wait to see your finish house, you guys are so skillful do'n everything y'all self, 💕 what y'all are do'n, see y'all on your next video👍
I like the problem solving process.
I like the problem solving process.
u should be using precut studs 92 5/8" so with a bottom and to top plates it equals 96
' that way your 8' sheet rock will fit with no excess space or having to cut for height . Good luck
'
you should get a winch that has a 2" hitch mount for your receiver in the rear. it would aid you if you get stuck again, and if you get an additional plate mount, you could mount that on anything and use the winch for other things as well. as you learned the hard way, a winch is a very handy thing to have out in the sticks. i've got a 12,000 lb. harbor freight winch on the front of my 4x4 that i can also mount on my flatbed trailer to pull things onto it. it was around $300, but you could get a smaller one for much cheaper. they aren't the best winch, but if you're not going to use it often, they are good enough. it's cheaper than a set of diggers for your suv, and less embarrassing than having to call someone to pull you out.
I have worked construction my whole life, there’s a learning curve involved. Framing, than wiring, plumber waste , water & vents, roof jacks for plumbing and local vent in bath room, and over the stove vent. Than wall installation inspection than sheet rock, tape joints and mud the screws or nails holes. Put first clear plastic over the windows. You two have a lot to learn, but it’s worth it.
Best of luck I truly mean that.
10:53 That's better than having them a half inch short. 🙂🦆
Gene Waddle - some cheese with that half inch wine. anyone that argues with more is married, divorced or single.
Yup consider yourself lucky. Could have been short.
Then they will need a board stretcher if too short. Find one at home depot. May need to order from China.
I'd be tempted to box up all the trimmed-off pieces and take THOSE back to the store.
Guess next time you'll need to measure the lumber they're trying to sell you!! CRAZY!
1 inch of closed cell spray foam is essentially r22 if you go with 2 inches life will be very contained
Most places I've seen have 1-inch of closed cell at about r4 to r6. Just curious as to where your getting r22?
Christopher Ryan one inch of open cell is rated at about the same as one inch of fiberglass but that value is bollocks. foam, whether closed or open, allows close to zero air transference, something that fiberglass can never claim. 4 inches of open cell is rated at 16. with a proper vapor barrier it may as well be 40. i live with it. i heat 800 sqare feet in zone 6 with less 300 gallons of diesel per winter, and i do it while being comfortably warm in my underwear.
@@th0r615 R numbers are different in America from the rest of the world, which is why they're so large.
Should put vapor barrier behind studs
I like the shine on the floors. It is good to take time out to "pick berries". Even getting stuck makes an adventure.
We’re so happy for y’all! Congratulations on getting the house framed up!
Too bad you are closing up the ends with doors. Would have been neat with some kind of windows, with the doors opened in the daylight and closed at night. Great job. Love your videos.
Yeah I'm sure having to cut all those 2x4's had to be a pain in the butt... but it's better then having boards too short! Hang in there Spencer & Mackenzie it's starting to look like a home sweet home. Catch ya on the next video.
Congratulations you two. Y'all have come a a long way. I watch Dutch also. That's wild. Y'all doing amazing work. Love the way you two work together.
Looking great guys 😊 watching your journey makes want to build my own home.
Yep....me too! at least until I try to get off the couch!
Kind of surprised you walled up the door's and did not leave access to them. grate way to bring the outside in.
This couple certainly have a very good attitude & don't show any vexations when things go wrong, at least not that we see.
What y’all have done to this point is nothing short of amazing! Awesome home kiddos!!!!
Truely Awsome guys. Great seeing that everything is comming together 👍
Once your done you should buy a shipping container and build a dog house... love watching your videos...
Friar Rodney Burnap I love this idea! That would be so cool!
They have enough cut outs I'm sure to do that.
They make 8 foot by 6 foot ocean containers.
OMG....Spencer. .....Spinning wheels create NO grip. I'd hate to see you in the snow....lmao. Love the vids, place is lookin' sa-weet ! :) :)
My thoughts exactly. 😂
I love how well everything is coming together. Keep it up!
I can't wait to see the finished product.
Next time, slowly, slowly on the gas and onto the boards!😬 your place is looking great👍🏻
What what are you going to do with the ceiling since your doesn’t go completely up.
It feels like we are right there with you, Day by day. You guys should be very proud, you are doing a great job. It’s so fun to watch. God bless your efforts!!
Next time stuck in mud use peices of chain link fence the width of your tires they can be bundled in 4s and kept just for such days ..just dont forget where you stow them keep some handy from fence mending
8ft 2x4's are always different lengths, unless you buy the ones that are specifically cut to be studs
Fast Nigel Fabrication studs for 8 ft walls are 92.5”
Now you need to buy a Mahindra Tractor/Roxor specially for these black berry expedition.😂😂😂
I'm a pretty calm and relaxed guy... but if I wasn't, I can see your videos and music calming me down after a hectic day. Thanks for the good content to watch. Push forward!!
Lots of teamwork 💪
Get some more shipping containers and build a basement some place under the ground on your property?
A seriously important suggestion there.Storm shelter,and storage.
Life is an adventure
you both will remember this day..Next purchase a four-wheel-drive ATV or a tractor
A set of mud chains or clamps would be cheaper.
A set mud tires!
An electric wench and mud tires
or at least a "come-a-long" type wench
Bear is living his best life!
America's favorite do it yourself COUPLE ! Keep Up The Good Work ,Y'ALL HAVE COME A LONG WAY !
🧢
Hint: when bogged let tyres down to a low pressure, buy yourselves some MAXTRAX or similar, if all else fails call a friend!
And possibly get better tires if you are going to encounter this regularly.
takes Honda pilot 4 wheelin with balding street tires. Wonders why they cant get out.....
When stuck you rock back and forth. Never spin the wheels. Turn slowly.
NIce visit. Thanks for a jump from the non-stop building process. Do more of this! (except the not getting stuck part, lol)
Cheers!
Congrats to you both. You work so well together. Blessing to y'all
Lower the tire pressure to 15 psi and drive away :)
At least they weren't too short. Why don't the boards go all the way to the top?
Probably for ceiling joists and foam insulation.
Bear looks like he’s really excited 😆 do y’all have chiggers where you’re at? That’s a big deterrent for picking wild blackberries here.. those beggars will eat you up here! This is where you go get a tractor 😂 building is do much fun! Nothing goes according to plan!!
Great video, ur skills of telling ur story are getting better each week. Keepem coming!!
How are you securing the two-by-fours to the steel
@@gregs5229 he emailed me and said I liked your comment I don't know what that meant
More than likely to the floor. That is how it is done on a slab built home as well as pier and beam.
If you notice, he's been screwing a vertical 2x4 right next to and into the window framing. After that, everything will be afixed to the walls and/or the middle, wooden portion of the home I bet. 😊
How are you securing the interior wall framing to the metal container?
I was about to ask the same thing.
He has a wood to metal welder.
Would love to know the answer to this as well. I've seen others using construction adhesive to actually for the frames to the container, not sure if that's a great idea though.
@@jessiegollihugh6414: My concern with adhesive would expansion/contraction rate of dissimilar materials (wood vs metal) pulling it apart over time. You'd need to use an adhesive that remains flexible and doesn't cure to a rigid state.
Mystery Meat I was thinking that too
There are a couple of tricks to get out of the mud you might not be aware of ......
1. Do not rev your car! Once the wheels are spinning you are just creating cream in the mud which is making it harder ... and digging a rut!
2.Snow Chains! IF you can get them on they give vast traction in mud!
3. Block and tackle (or a good come along) If you have trees nearby they are rooted in the ground, you are unlikely to pull one over! Use them as an anchor point!
4. Carpet! Keep a couple of strips of carpet, you then wedge one end under your drive wheels (you may need to peg the end to stop it pulling under the car whilst the car stays still! Caravan shops sell a plastic version of this!
5. Buy your local farmer a beer. When you get stuck he is more likely to want to come and tractor you out!
6. If this is regular .... fit a winch to your car! This doubles up as you can then pull others out whilst looking smug ;0)
On a building note ....... Try cutting a piece of timber down to your span size (18" or 24") Minus the width of your 2X4! Nail your end riser in and place your new measuring stick against this ..... now slap your next riser against this and nail in and you have repeatably perfect spacing. This also works well if you are screwing in downward at an angle! ...... And it is Quick!
Man everything is coming together can’t wait to see all the walls up way to go guys
how did you guys tie studs to wall of container
Dont have to, can be free standing
@@rty1955 UUUHHHH...not if the walls will be drywalled...not to mention the ceiling joists
@@boufie9997 the container walls will have a different temperature coefficient, so I can imagine cracks galore on the taped joints
How do you plan to take care of the moisture between the metal wall and inner walls.
I hope you look into what this person asked.Or plan on doing something.Or you will run into problems.Vapor barrier.Condensation is a killer. Its metal
Foam insulation.
Closed cell foam ,Grafotherm paint.I see now there are options.I'm kinda learning about this myself.i guess 1 step at a time.Good luck ya'll
Yes condensation and rust.
coming along just great guys, well done, keep up the good work,Scott, Perth, Western Australia .
Best couple builders ever!!
All 2x4's are a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch longer than they need to be. Definately city kids.
I think you should have named Bear “Pig”.
I've been following your progress on your amazing house for a few months and am so excited to see you make it to this point! Congratulations!
Soak those berries in salted water first! You will be shocked at how many tiny worms in each one.
Why are you framing over the cargo doors? Wouldnt it be better to have the option to open them for additonal ventalation, just saying. Be safe. Peace.
Yay. CONGRATULATIONS I'm so excited for you both.
Wow, house is looking amazing! I'm rooting for you all!
Someone was going to go here...At least it wasn't a fruitless journey.
Yeah maybe not drive in the swamp 🤔🤔 even the donkey laughed at you.
Your house is coming along so beautifully! My husband and I both follow you guys! Your an amazing couple and I just love how funny you guys are! You always bring a much needed smile to our lives!
You guys work great together as a team, while you laugh and learn through the all the hard parts. God bless you both. Bear too of course, and Donkey...
Easily the prettiest women on the internet
There is definitely another layer of beauty within a woman who can build.
HOTTIE
Wow - progress!!! So cool. Building your own home together is a fabulous bonding experience. I'm really impressed.
Next time ya get stuck on your property, have some 2x4s cut about a foot long or so, and some tiedowns. Feed the tie down thru your rims and loop it around a 2x4 set perpendicular to your tire to make a clear of sorts. Do it on your driving tires, it'll get ya unstuck no problem
2 containers have become a lovely looking home. Well done you two.
time to keep a come along in the boot of the car, saved me once around a lot of trees, good job guys keep the footage rolling...
