I don't deserve the credit for thinking outside the box. I did read that the original pattern writer based the pattern off of a bargello needlepoint. She is the true genius. But, I am with you, I too will keep looking at those patterns for quilt patterns.
I agree with you about pressing and I also use a clapper now. I was amazed by how much better my blocks turn out with the clapper. It just makes everything lay flat. Thank you
Pressing is a must! Always enjoy your vids! As for the shop hoarding the pattern…🤮. So sad & greedy. Looking fwd to watching more of you! Only recently found & suscribed! Thank you for your time & talents!
Thanks for this video! As regarding Light in the Valley - I couldn't believe that anyone would say that no one else can make it - (I've heard that) when it is obviously a bargello AND an old needlepoint. This is beautiful, BTW.
I don’t know…😳 I made a quilt queen size using a jelly roll following one of Donna Jordan’s patterns on RUclips. I followed her instructions and sewed all the strips the same way, from top to bottom in columns of 8 strips each, ironed each column, and then sewed them together the same way, from top to bottom of the quilt. Nothing bowed in any direction. It was perfectly squared. I’m using a Baby Lock sewing machine. Is any explanation why I did not get the bowing effect ? Thank you much for your videos I enjoy them so much, I learned a lot from you.
The "Almost Amish" company evidently currently holds the copyright to this pattern and has said they will enforce it if anyone tries to sell a Light in the Valley quilt... Sad, but true.
@@theopinionatedquilter Yes, of course! They can hold the specific pattern copyright, but the actual original design is much older than their pattern. Good work finding a way around it.
The truth is their supposed copyright is a lie. You cannot copyright a pattern. Nor can they tell you you cannot sell what you have made. Just a lie to keep people in line. They don’t want completion. McCall tried to copyright their patterns and failed. Just like if someone puts a picture of something they made on the internet and someone copies it, it isn’t copyright infringement it’s fair game. If you don’t want people copying your work don’t sell it nor put up a picture on the internet.
WOW 🤩 That’s a *GORGEOUS* quilt!
Thank you so much. It took me long enough to figure it out.
That is genius thinking outside the box!! Now I’ll be looking at every needlepoint and cross-stitch pattern as potential quilts .

Fantastic! 👏👏👏Looking forward to the Zoom class, I'd really love to make this quilt as a gift for a friend.
Gorgeous quilt. Looks like a lot of intense work but worth it in the end. I love your take on cracking the code.
This was a very detailed video on how you "cracked the code". What a masterpiece!!!

Yes, you are amazing! Thanks for your tips and opinions! I love all the quilts you showed. The one on the wall would probably take me a year!
Amazing determination. It is beautiful. Thanks for your tips for Bargello work.
Love all your opinions and the quilts too, thank you for your time💓

Another fun video and interesting chat! I hope you have an enjoyable week ahead. Thank you for sharing!
I like your videos too. Never enough scrap ideas.
Just discovered you, that was brilliant, thank you for sharing , looking to make my first Bargello 🥰
I am so glad you found me. Thank you for watching.
Absolutely amazing!!!! Thank you for sharing.
Always wanted to do one but I can not seem to get my brain to figure it yet. Lol. That is absolutely awesome.
Always satisfying to solve a puzzle/problem.
Great information offered, when you are pressing Bargello's, do you press seams open or to one side?
Would not have the patience to make this quilt, would go insane 😂
Great job! I'm so impressed!

I enjoy them so much, I learned a lot from you.
I don’t like to cut off those points on my quilt edges either!!

I have heard that too. I do not have a pattern. I copied the Bargello Needlepoint in Marigold from Spoonflower.

Truely amazing!
Thanks for watching.
Do you have a store? I love your videos and would like to support your business
I do. It’s Quilters Heaven in Northbrook Illinois. Thank you for your kind words.
When will you do a Zoom class?
we are working on it.
Have you done the zoom class for this quilt?
Wow.
I thought that the Amish Community copyrighted this pattern.
I believe it was one store, not sure. I took a picture of a fabric and designed my own. I have never seen that pattern.
This looks similar to one that is copyrighted by the Amish community.
