I think it is great to do films for new quilters. I started off going it alone and eventually found a quilt shop near my mother-in-law and took classes with a friend who had started after me (I did mine by hand and was struggling) but the lady wasn't pleasant. She didn't have much patience and what should have been enjoyable just made us feel stupid. Since then I've found that what we were taught wasn't exactly well done and I had to unlearn a lot and now I'm much more accurate and enjoy quilting. At least newbies will learn good things from you. RUclips didn't exist when we started and quilt shops were few and far between over here. Pretty bargello too.
I started teaching myself how to quilt. I saw an ad for a quilt guild looking for members. It was quite along way from where I live. I went it was awful. Went back a second time on taking fabric out my bag the lady next to me said put that away it's giving me a headache. I left.
I make dog and cat beds for local shelters. My daughter works in a clothing studio and brings me all the scraps. Made over 200 beds from those scraps last year.
I always learn something new on a "basic" quilting class! You're never too advanced to go over the basics! I'm sure it will be great. Any tips for color selection for the Bargello?
You need two colors, 4 shades of each. We did make kits if you are interested. Call 847-272-7245 10-5 weekdays central time or email me at quiltersheaveninc@gmail.com
I have wanted to make a bargello quilt for the longest time. I learn from you every time I watch one of your videos so I knew I could make this with your guidance. I have come to appreciate precision in the last couple of years thanks in part to you. ❤
Really looking forward to the new series, there are sure to be things I've never heard of, or forgotten or am doing wrong! Great episode today as always, thanks Maureen x
Yes, I am looking forward to the new series! I am a beginner, not even a quilter YET. I loved all the quilts you showed so far, but I cannot even think about attempting any of them. Great channel, please keep the opinions coming!
i definitely like this better than the plain zig-zag bargello i've seen on other channels... i'm not a quilter yet, but you've given me much to think about since this channel started!
I am not sure I can live long enough to make a quilt like this.
It really is just strip piecing. The key is organization. You can do it.
I am agree! It is not very easy to do, but it's ok. Good luck to all the quilters!
Wow, Thank You Maureen! This is such a beautiful quilt. 🥰👍 Chris
Thanks so much.

Thanks for watching. The quilt we are doing in the beginning series is easy and you should feel very comfortable attempting it.
Such beautiful quilt! Thank you for sharing your excellent instructions and pattern. I truly appreciate your videos. Have a great day ❤️🌞🌻🌹🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you for watching and your kind words.
Thank you for this! It is an amazing quilt! I want to make one but I think I need a little more experience before I try it.
Do some strip piecing and when you are comfortable go for it.

Hopefully you will be a quilter soon. It is such a fun hobby.
Beautiful quilt
An incredible quilt!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much.
Thanks for this! I’ve only done a bargello table runner, but it was fun to make.
That is a stunning quilt! Great explanation video - well done!
Thank you.
Gorgeous! I have to develop my skills before attempting this quilt. It’s aspirational! ❤️
You can do it. Get comfortable with strip piecing and go for it.
@@theopinionatedquilter Thanks Maureen. I love your channel and have learned so much from you.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it

I have been listening to your programs and was interested in the Deb Tucker tools that you mentioned. Which of her rulers do you find the most useful?
The Tucker Trimmer first, followed by the Wing Clipper and Square Squared. I also use the specialty rulers for the Lemoyne Star and Hunters Star.
@@theopinionatedquilter Thank you! This is exactly what I need to know.
