Thank you for your very clear explanation of how you worked out your design. I love these colors. They are among my favorites. Your son is one lucky guy to have you as a mon who would devote so much time, love, and thought to create a beautiful gift for his graduation. I bet he loved his quilt and was so happy when he first saw it. You’ve done a great job and your explanation simplifies the Bargello concept and construction. Thank you very much. I’d love to see it all done.
Well, It took me 2 months to come up with the fabric I wanted and I'm now in the process of putting it together! I'm having a great time. I love the efficiency of how you have planned everything out and put it together. I took all of your suggestions and it is going together beautifully. Thank you so much! Great tutorial and pattern.
Just beautiful! Bargello is on my bucket list to do. I love how you organized everything. That really helps people like me who have next to zero organizational skills.
Thanks so much! You can find the pattern for this quilt in my Etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/EQuiltsBlog/listing/448555724/busy-body-quilt-pattern-beginners-or?Copy&ListingManager&Share&.lmsm&share_time=1556502916233
Whoops! Wrong pattern! The bargello quilt is here: www.etsy.com/EQuiltsBlog/listing/610206326/heartbeat-bargello-quilt-pattern?Copy&ListingManager&Share&.lmsm&share_time=1556503283818
I love the way you organized your fabric strips for this quilt, great tips for keeping track and getting beautiful results. I've always been intimidated by the bargello, but you have totally simplified it. Thank you :) Will definitely be trying this.
Thanks so much for your kind words. If you start a small bargello first, you should build confidence for this level. You can do it! Thanks for watching!
This is turning out beautiful your son is going to love it. You are well organized I love the way you explain the process as you go. Thank you for sharing this treasure with us
PS I forgot to say how great the Whoville fabric is. I’m making a How The Grinch Stole Christmas quilt for my newest great niece, mainly because I’ve always loved that Dr Suess story and I’m sure she will, too, as she grows up. She’ll be one year old this Christmas. I think your inclusion of this unique fabric is divinely cool! What a wonderful choice of fabrics overall. Congratulations! I love your project in every way...
Hello Erica! I am new to your channel & so very happy I found you! I made my first Bargello quilt top last month and have yet to sandwich it and actually do the machine quilting on it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the style/pattern/design of a Bargello quilt!! Bargello's have a dramatic look that may be intimidating for some people but seriously, it is one of the easiest quilt tops I have ever made! A little time consuming but as you stated, SO WORTH IT! When I started my Bargello I was scared to death, & I am not a newby to quilting! lol But I was so in awe of the ease of the whole process I couldn't wait to see it all put together so I sewed had my entire quilt top completed in less than a day!! For any of you quilters out there wanting to make a Bargello, take heed of keeping your strip sizes separate in boxes as Erica shows here. Organized is key to the ease of making a Bargello. Erica you have done a Beautiful job with this video! Love the way you have taken the time to explain everything to your viewers. Thank you so much! Your chart makes it so simple to follow and not make any mistakes in laying it out. I will be making more for sure. My question to you is this: A Bargello is such a dramatic look & I really don't want to compromise that with my machine quilting. Would you suggest a simple stippling pattern all over, or a combination of feathers, bubbles, swirls? I am a bit intimidated on what pattern to quilt on mine. Thank you for your input.
Thanks so much for your question! I actually got the idea of how to quilt it from one of my subscribers. Following the design of the bargello pattern, I quilted every third section diagonally. For example, if the pattern has an arch of black squares, quilt those blocks from corner to corner. Your quilting will show peaks and valleys from the pattern. I would also use a coordinating thread, so that it blends with the pattern. If that doesn't make sense, please let me know and I will tell you her words exactly. Good luck!
You can do it! I have a video series called Heartbeat Bargello Quilt Along that we are working on right now. I will link the playlist here: ruclips.net/p/PLiQmLVOduOOYPg33u7Pw96qAd3qjNBW0t Thanks for watching!
thank you. It's beautiful. I am working on one and there are so many seams! But I think the challenge is worth the result, and seeing how you break down the steps help, especially the color choices and value.
This was an excellent video! Thank you so much. I love the pattern. I just bought it and am off to the fabric store tomorrow. I'm so excited to make this!

Erica I am new to your channel. I didnt realize you had shown us how to make a bargello. thank you for a wonderful video. as mentioned previously you are a really great teacher.
I made one of these when I was new to quilting. Mine started to unravel at the ends because my stitch length was too long. So heads up to anyone doing one,lol turn the stitch length down. Your quilt colors are awesome!
I've always wanted to make a bargello quilt but the written instructions were confusing to me since I'm a visual learner. You just made it make sense to me. I'm going to go thru my stash and hopefully find a pattern that can tell me the widths to cut. Thanks Erica for your guidance.
Stunning, Erica!! You did an awesome job and you were crystal clear with your instructions. Subscribed and rang that bell. Hope to see more vids! God bless!
It's fascinating how there appears to be movement because of the colors and placement. Since I'm such a beginner, I think I'll try making my first quilt before I tackle this. LOL
Thanks so much for watching. I love the movement in the quilt as well. I am sure that you will do a great job at your first quilt. The bargello is perfect once you get a little more experience. Happy quilting!
Beautiful work. Just found your channel. I really like your organization of the strips you cut out of the tube. I'm currently working on my first ever quilt. When this one is done, I think I may have to buy your pattern and do it. You are a great instructor. Thank you for sharing.

Love your videos! Can you elaborate a little on how you drew it out? I have a picture in a home decorating book that I’d like to mimic but not sure how to draw out! Thanks so much!
Thanks for watching! I used graph paper to create the design. I started by drawing out the basic shape that I wanted, then attempted to create it using the marks on the graph paper. It took several tries to get the shape that I was looking for. I will make a video to more clearly show it. Thanks for your question.

Thank you for your question. I would have to see it, I think, to make the best judgment. When you finished the top, did you try stay-stitching the edges? I used a 1/8 inch seam allowance to hold the stitches. I also pressed 3 times (top, back, top) to try and flatten my top. Hope this helps!

you need a publisher. For pattern books along with your videos so that people can actually order your work.
I would love to have a book with your patterns in it along with your videos being a visual learner myself it is so much help to have that, also I would love to see who does your long arm work because I can imagine it's beautiful when it's done

Thanks for watching! I am working on the pattern now. It will be available soon.
Very good instructions ad gorgeous quilt!! Please let me know the brand of Ruler you use - it's amazing!! Tks!
Thanks for watching! I am using the Shape Cut ruler. It has cutting for inch and half-inch cuts.
What stitch length did you use when sewing strips? Love your quilt!
Thanks for watching! I used my normal stitch length when sewing the strips. It is tough to decide whether to shorten your stitch length because you have to take apart some of the seams.
I love this quilt and I won't to make a queen size. Does the pattern make into a queen size?
Thank you for your question. The pattern does make a queen, but there are other sizes as well. Thanks for watching!
Hi Erica I made a barge yellow quilt and it has a lot of ripples along the sides it doesn't lay flat I even put the border on there to borders and I had to take them off because it just wasn't bright can you give me some tips on what to do and how to get my quilt to lay flat
Bargello quilt I mean thank you
Thank you for your question. I would have to see it, I think, to make the best judgment. When you finished the top, did you try stay-stitching the edges? I used a 1/8 inch seam allowance to hold the stitches. I also pressed 3 times (top, back, top) to try and flatten my top. Hope this helps!
This is gorgeous! Do you sell this pattern? It would be perfect for my friends daughter's wedding shower.

Thanks for watching! I would start with a small project first, like a baby quilt or table runner. That way you could get the process down before doing something big. I hope you try it out!
Thank You I will.
