Ozzie i bought the CZ after your review a few years ago and matched with the RWS ammo that you recommended, never looked back, in pristine conditions @50 yards it groups better than half an inch. I was thinking the other day with all these caliber's out there no one has ever done a video on what is the best for ranges at 50, 100, 150, 200 for small game. Mate you are looking great and you definitely got your bounce back thank you for all you do.

As a fan of both CZ and Ruger rifles, I agree each has it's pluses and each its minuses. I just bought a CZ 457 American in 22 WMR as my second CZ. A CZ 452 American in 22 LR that I bought years ago was my first. I also have two different Rugers. Each of my CZs and Rugers is well worth the cost.

Great head to head challenge Ozzie. I have the CZ 457 and the RAR, both in 22LR. My real world results are about the same as yours. Shooting at 50 yards the CZ consistently out noses the RAR. Both rifles consistently shoot around a half inch at 50 yards.
Given the RAR was half the price of the CZ, not bad...but you can't beat the feel and look of the CZ. Best results were with Norma Tac-22. Both are keepers.
Glad to see you are back. Keep these great reviews coming!

Love my CZ 452FS and new 457LUX in 22 mag. But my first rifle was a 10/22 my brother gave to me. It has a homemade peep sight that's just a bent piece of painted metal screwed to the receiver. My eyes aren't getting better but I can still nail a 3" target offhand from 50yds everytime with that peep. I was surprised to see the Ruger do so well. My CZ's are very good at making 1 hole groups.

Actually I was pleased too, and now I might just order a Ruger American in .22 WMR too. I do have a CZ but it is the slightly older 455 in .22WMR.

I got a Steyr Zephyr in 22mag haven't been able to shoot it yet but it's a BEAUTIFUL RIFLE with nice features. Can't wait till I can shoot it. I'm wondering if I should have gotten it in 22lr? 🤔😉👍

I had a ruger American in 22lr, and currently own a CZ 452. The Ruger was a pretty darn accurate rifle, but the CZ was a little better. Same as you got. For the quality, there is no comparison, and the CZ iron sights are way better as well, but there is no comparison in price. The Ruger is quite a lot cheaper.
So I pretty much agree with your test. The ruger, at that price point, plastic stock and mag options, is great for plinking, having for a gun that may get some rough treatment, or just affordable is great, but the CZ is a way nicer and more expensive gun.

Ozzie you would have heard, aim small miss small, your central target 3rd group with the CZ opened because the small bull and secondary ring are both red giving no real refrence aim point through such a low powered scope, I have offten experienced this which is why I always shoot small 1/2" bulls that are black on red and use a 4-12 rather than a 3-9

Love your videos mate, I just bought the exact Cz with the same scope because of how nice is it in your videos. Can’t wait to pick it up so these videos are helping me stay patient😂 Could I make a friendly suggestion to perhaps add in a flag or a feather or some way of us seeing the wind while in camera view of shooting the targets. Thanks mate 👍🏼

I opted for the CZ457 because it’s made in the left hand version also…..I’m not aware of Ruger making their bolt rimfire s in left hand configurations.

Edit I do not know about the rimfire. Only centerfire.

Had a savage magnum it was a nice rifle but still preferred the old cooey to have the option of the 22 semi quiet on my 5 acres it took care of porcupine and skunk problems without worrying of traveling but great video i think if i was going to get another magnum id choose the cz 512 semi probably be great for the coyotes in my areas

Wind issues aside, the accuracy of both rifles could be improved by bedding the stocks. Also, some rifles prefer certain ammo so it pays off to find the one your rifle shoots most accurately. This ammo preference can even vary among identical rifles from the same manufacturer. It's rather strange but it's true.

Thanks for spending the money on ammo so we don't have to. While shooting gophers here on the Canadian prairies the Ruger's extended magazine catch was an annoyance as I inadvertently tripped it, pulling the trigger on an empty chamber several times per shooting day. When using the banana shaped extended magazine in the CZ it became unwieldy, also becoming an annoyance long before the end of the shooting day. I like flush fitting mags. Too bad CZ didn't use ten round rotaries.

I have 3 CZs and 2 Rutgers (one precision). I ran the same tests today. The CZs are more accurate. The ruger is good enough, but it’s a precision. Who is going to take that model hunting? In short, the CZ hunting model beat the range Ruger model for accuracy. For me, it’s CZ every day.
