Recently bought a CZ 457 Canadian .22LR and just in the process of sighting it in with a Sig Sauer Whiskey 3. Love this rifle with it's red walnut stock and the Canadian maple leaf embossed in 3 places on the stock.
The area you are shooting is very nice, although I dont envy you getting up and down shooting prone in truck. I can relate though, I never shoot at a range, only on National Forrest.
just bought the left hand Varmint in 22lr with a Meopta meosport 3-15x50 scope and am buying a barrel for fox hunting here in Norway. Been going back and forth between 22wmr or 17hmr but am leaning more towards the 17 for flatter trajectory and less wind drift. hear they are more accurate than the 22wmr usually. Love these rifles!
@@rimfiremore4947 I have had some top of the line Nightforce, Kahles and Zeiss scopes and honestly the clarity and build quality in the Meopta gives them a run for their money. Think its hard to get a better glass for the money.
Just a little advice and its my own opinion and you can take it in that manner. Im 53 years old and been shooting rifle shotgun pistols handguns and all the different bows like long bow compound bows crossbows and recurve and the like etc etc etc. It really means alot that you hold each and every one of them exactly the same way each and every time you shoot the weapon. So many times i see you guys on RUclips showing your guns and bows and what have you with a relaxed hold especially on the bench. That will not ever make you a better marksman. You have to hold that rifle just like youd hold it off hand even though youre on a bench. The gun is gonna shoot differently n you want be consistent. You have to learn how to drive that weapon. Just saying and my on opinion n wanted to give you something to think about.
And there lies the challenge! Not many people understand that this is a martial art and requires all the discipline and training that goes with it. I do, and I'm still not good at it because I don't practice!
I was taught this by an old (and wise) timer over thirty years ago. I shoot my varmint rigs off the bipod at the range the same way I shoot them in the field.
In f class and br we give as little influence on the rifle as possible, bare minimum cheek weld, lightly touching the shoulder, left hand squeezing the rear bag, right hand in a relaxed position. Completely different from how I shoot my hunting rifle but i am not less accurate with one or the other. This tip is highly subjective.
I remmember your early video, I went out and purchased the preimum version, the wood looks amazing but I also like the varmint version cause of that bull barrel.
What is the consensus on using hearing protection for 17hmr I'm torn I can't tell any damage from shooting without it but is it common practice for other people to
I am a lefty and I am goig to buy a 457 Varmint left hand...only comes in 22LR though but i can interchange the barrel with 22 WMR and 17 HMR when they are available again...sold out everywhere and CZ tells me they don't know when other barrels will be available again . I'm looking forward to having all 3 berrels someday
What are you shooting? .22 LR solves a lot of problems that you actually don't really have. And it's cheap. By the way, I've got the Varmint, you'll love it.
How often do you clean the barrel? I've heard the 17 hmr has a higher amount of deposit and clogs up the barrel after around 50 ish shots and then needs chemical cleaning else the groups open up. Would appreciate your experience on that.
I probably clean in the 50-100 range. I’ve noticed a decent dependency on ammo type. This particular rifle is a little more forgiving with the ammo though.
Nice gun especially with the bull barrel. I wish it would come with a 24 inches barrel. They are supposed to be more accurate than any 17 caliber out there.
Im surprise you don't have the barrel threaded.... Im in Canada, I was not aware that two versions are available, cause I just got my new one and I have the threaded barrel with muzzle brake. Canada got all CZ directly from Czech Republic maybe cause of that and you guys from CZ-USA in Kansas.
Great shooting, getting your steps in too which is good, but they do make good spotting scopes to save some time and energy!

That sounds like a really nice rifle. The embossing must be cool.

Good video !
Perfect rifle.

Let me know what you think of the scope.

That's good to know. I'll look into them when I have some time.

What has your experience been with the rifle you picked up?
It's my first ever gun so I don't know much but the woods is awsome@@rimfiremore4947
Take a look at a Timney trigger for the 457.

Can you adjust the trigger sensitivity on this weapon?

That sounds awesome! Hopefully they come back in stock soon.
I talked to CZ a few days ago. They guarantee extra barrels are coming soon and to start looking Jan 1st. Sign up for notification on their website

I really think the bull barrel is fantastic. It does make the rifle a little heavy but well worth it in my opinion.

Yeah, I’m not sure. This was what they had in stock at the local store.
Dude lives in the paradise
Push that button on the bottom of your mag and take it apart and clean it kid.
He's now probably looking for the keeper and spring, LOL.

Youve had it for 3+ years and only put 1000 - 2000 rounds through it? I own rifles that ive put 2000+ rounds through in less than a month a half 😂
🤷🏻♂️Some people shoot more than others ..
