- The newest arrival to my garage is quite a surprise! I have found exactly the car I was looking for on @eBayUKofficial Motors, and now it's time to transform it a full project track tool. This is the perfect tribute to the first car I ever owned, my Renault Clio!
Last year, I managed to track down the first car I ever owned, my 2005 Renault Clio 1.2 Dynamique, although sadly not in the state I had hoped to find it. Having recently (at the time) been involved in an accident, the insurance company had written it off and sent it for scrap, meaning I wasn't able to buy it as a car, but did buy back the lump of scrap metal anyway!
I put in my mind at the time to one day find an identical spec car to turn into a tribute to my original. However, recently when Jonny Smith @TheLateBrakeShow came by to visit @TheShmuseum, we were talking and he 'challenged' me to do something crazy...
Fast forward, and after much searching, the right car popped up on @eBayUKofficial Motors! Matching to every single detail; a 3 door, silver, 1.2 16V 2005 Clio, with sunroof, auto lights and wipers, the same interior and wheels, and as such I could not wait any longer. But this is just the start, we're going to build this into a track tool sleeper!
Visually it will stay true to the original base Clio spec, but we're thinking engine swap, strip the interior, upgrade the suspension and brakes and so much more. This project will be underway with @eBayUKofficial and sourcing parts for the upgrade through Small Businesses on eBay.

You never forgive your 1st car... 😄 Even if I had an hypercar, I would still talk with this very same passion about my nb mx5, for example 😄
Shmee is in my opinion a rare sight on car enthusiast world... He may have all the toys most of them we can only dream about... Is crazy enough to think to have a Senna or a Ford GT or even the Mercedes GT (Roadster and BS)... Now having all those cars sharing the same garage? As he would probably say... Mental... But despite all of that he still have the memories os his first car even it this been just a regular many would say boring Renault Clio... That's some thing I think is missing in the car enthusiast scene...
I think it’s because he’s a real car enthusiast. And if you are one of them, you appreciate all kind of cars, from all shape and form, all kind of motor, country origin, etc… A little bit like Jay Leno, that can have the same passion for a $1M+ car, or a $2,500 car.

He has a senna and a Ferrari coming but got really excited about a clio . Love shmee's content.
That's the thing with true car guys give us 4 wheels and we are happy, at one time I used to let my lad take my car and I would drive his Peugeot 206 to get things done to it for him, one slight problem is he narrowed between an inch and a half to two inches on one side of my car!

Did you see this one coming?! I've been looking for a tribute to my first ever car after the sad story finding the crushed wreck last year, but this is it, found on eBay Motors and now the start of a journey to transform it into a project sleeper track tool! Let's do this!

Love how you've gone full circle. Worked your way up to the point of having a private garage full of some of the most desirable and exotic cars out there. Not only have you gone back to getting the old Vantage back, the 'OG' Shmeemobile, you've gone back to the Clio, where you started driving! Can't wait to see how this progresses!
I've experienced the same thing as well. Worked my ass off for expensive supercars. And when I had the ability to buy literally anything, I found myself enjoying cheaper cars more because of their character........in GTA Online, of course.

@@Kronos0999 Same on my old account Had a Primo with an exhaust painted Red body kit, Lowered and Wheels sold it got a Sultan then a Jaguar XK F620 which became my pride and join then Eventually had the Vagner, T20, GP1 which was my 2nd Super Car saw a respawn of my old Primo with the same reg I made it mine and tuned it up but had same spec it was great to have it back. Now on my new account I have the Baller as my first car use it to drive to the sticks as a cruise and to take it off road. Have the newer Baller LE LWB alongside it and now have a McLaren Senna in the same Garage my new car today

It would be interesting to see a K20 engine in it from a civic type R, would be very good for track days. You could even supercharge it up to 350bhp and it would be hilarious fun

with a lamborghini exhaust system, ferrari enzo engine, 2 turbos and 4 superchargers. and lets not forget a dj decks in the back. 750bhp. but still not a classic

The window parts you removed are actually quite useful on rainy days when it’s not so cold and not so hot either for a/c usage. You have your window slightly open for fresh air and the rain doesn’t get in. Also if they are OEM options, then they are one of the rarest and hardest to find items when the car is old/classic.

First of all: You should get a clio V6, would make a nice link between your new old clio and your super/hyper cars. Or maybe ask Renault UK if they have it as a press car to lend to you :)
Second: It would be fun if you'd bring it to Topaz for detailing, giving it the same treatment as your super/hyper cars!
I bet it's going to Chartwell, where GT BS is. It needs serious body work.
The issue with Clio v6's is the fact that they're not as good to drive as normal RS Clios

You could actually get xenons on a Clio 172/182 at the time so many you could replace those headlights with the optional Clio Xenon headlights. You could also engine swap it to a Clio 182 engine and gearbox and suspension. Then you can give it maybe bucket seats and a roll cage and then you have a proper sleeper!
Do you happen to know anything about how easy it is? I’m thinking about swapping out my headlights with Xenons (‘04 Clio 1.6) but a little birdie once told me it needs more than just a simple place and click approach.
One thing I love about Tim is that he never forgot the path from where he started💕

Nice project Tim, The made a Trophy version with a 285 BHP V6, that engine would be a great base start.
Wrong that was a Clio V6 mid engine the Trophy was a limited edition 182 with very trick remote resavoir suspension

@@airwavesfromholland That's a race car spec engine and not the best example of the PSA V6. That engine has been in all sorts of cars and if you want race spec you may as well go for the engines that were used by Courage that have over 600bhp. But either way neither are appropriate for this Clio. It's not going to be mid engined, so it wont fit well under the bonnet so one would be better off sticking with the F4R as used by numerous Clios including the 182 trophy, 200 etc, or the F4Rt which gives up to 270bhp in the Megane (road car) as these actually fit in the car.

I just passed my driving test last Friday and the freedom it gives with your first car is a truly amazing feeling. My little VW Fox is a great little car and in the first week I’ve already done about 400 miles
How strange was it when you got in your car alone for the very first time? I still remember that feeling like it was yesterday and yes there is nothing that beats that feeling that you can go anywhere anytime.

I had almost exactly the same spec as my first car, only a darker paint colour. I loved that thing, it was so much fun in such a tiny package. Seeing you go back to one is like a blast from the past and your enthusiasm is infectious!
Build a track weapon! Have it in a classic Renault racing livery, black/yellow/white or even the Williams FW16 Camel/Labatts/Canon livery and turn it into a mid engine as well!

60,000 is low miles for a 16 year old car. Glad you could find one that is the exact spec as your original.
F4R engine + turbo @ engine dynamics, refreshed JC5 gearbox with megane 5th, PMS shifter & quaife diff, coilovers, whiteline RARB, powerflex bushes and mounts + braided lines, good pads and discs + good buckets mounted on jon foz subframes!

That is one nice clio heck it looks great to be 16 years old Tim, and when you do all the mods to it it will be something to make people think about finding one!HA you know my saying is keep on keeping on brother!!!
Used to have one of these too, always loved the boot release being in the center of the Renault badge, great little detail
I had one too. I found it so fun to drive. So small on the road and lightweight you could really carry some speed on country roads. Engine responsive too.

This Clio probably went to the best possible owner... Shmee will do things that probably live on the enthusiast dreams... Very thrill to seeing the progress of this project...
When I had my Clio II in 1.6 RSi form, I fitted an OMP strut brace in the front, cured most of the creaks from the body flex, especially from the sunroof. This video also takes me back, great days with that Clio 👍🏽
This should be interesting to see your view on a simple track car vs the high end cars it will reside with, knowing you’ve got a connection with the car, Chris Harris is a prime example, loves his Peugeot/2cv etc

You need some lifts on the garage to double stack more cars. Some car memorabilia, and manufactures or sponsors banners on the wall, would give it a man cave look.

I had this car ! Handled like a dream on a country road. So so light weight and small once you got it up to speed I found it very satisfying to drive with a responsive engine . Really loved it .

Brilliant!! My first car was a Renault 5. And even after many cars - and now 2 BMW’s - you never really have the same nostalgic driving experience as you had with your first car.

Might be a lot easier to buy a silver 172 (has the hidden exhaust, unlike 182) and swap body parts over from your car.

My a3 was 21 when I lost her, she still drove aa well as the day she left the factory. Cost a bit to make it that way but still, original engine, gearbox and tbh everything accept for the general wear and tear stuff. 140k miles and still drove tight and pulled like new.
I've been watching your videos since you fetches your dads Aston Martin Vantage. By far my favorite RUclipsr. My first car, which I just sold, was a Clio 182 Cup. Very nice to see Shmee driving one now. Very humbling. Keen to see the progress. Stay safe. ✌✌✌

I’m driving my first car at the moment and it is actually a 2004 Renault Clio (1.6 16V). Little rocketship for what it is, they’re fantastic to start off with! I’ll report back in 15 years when I have several supercars.

For me this is really exciting as I have held on to my 206 ( my first car) almost 2.5 years after the engine blew up. My plan is also to turn it into a mad track toy I was thinking Honda Civic k20 engine but part of me wants to fully restore it to exactly as o had it 3 years ago when io was 17. It’s always a strange vibe when you sit in your first car again.

Tim you should get some metal cut off the crushed Clio and get it melted to liquid and cast it into a large Shmee150 logo to hang in the Shmuseum.

Love that idea, more modern, more powerful engine, slightly bigger wheels for bigger brakes but replicate those original wheels. Roll cage but as hidden as possible just so from the outside it looks stock.
Loving the sleeper idea my first car was a MK3 fiesta I bought one back 2 years ago and converted it into a xr2i rep .

Brakes it's easy, put peugeot 307 bosch brake calipers (283mm) with clio rs discs (280mm) or 307 180 calipers (302mm) with scenic discs (300mm)it fits like a glove
