The Spec for My New LOTUS EMIRA First Edition!

- I've ordered a new Lotus Emira and it's time to choose the spec! Join me at Bell & Colvill to run through the available options and the configuration I'm going for on my First Edition, which naturally will be a V6 with manual gearbox. I can't wait for this car!
Having taken a first look at the new Lotus Emira in summer, it was officially launched at the Goodwood Festival of Speed where I was lucky to ride alongside Jenson Button for a run up the famous hillclimb and announced that one was joining the Shmeemobiles. It's now time however to start working on the specification and with limited options to choose it's already done for me.
SPOILERS BELOW
My car will be in the bright Hethel Yellow paintwork, with the optional Black Pack for the roof and exterior details. It'll be optioned with the 20" silver wheels in front of gloss black brake calipers. Inside it will be grey leather, with a black Alcantara steering wheel with grey stripe and stitching. I'm choosing the Sport suspension (as opposed to Tour) and fitted with Michelin Sport Cup 2 tyres, for a sportier drive.
I'm looking forward to the Lotus ordering process from here which is being handled heavily in house, however to kick things off, the team at Bell & Colville have been very helpful and supportive. Bring on the arrival at some point in spring 2022!

honestly it's only a matter of taste, personally I never really like silver rims, I feel like they pop too much against the rest of the car and I don't like the color balance
Silver wheels on a sports car just looks basic, for instance his sls went from looking mean and aggressive with black wheels to kind of boring and basic with the silver wheels.
Black is much better in newer cars in my opinion but I like it all

I'm pretty excited about seeing more adventures with this car, strangely more than some of the other more 'exclusive' recent or future shmeemobiles.

Great choice of spec, Tim. A lot of yellow coming into the garage, with the Solarbeam GT BS, the STO with splashes of yellow and this one. I think the British racing green-esque colour would've been great too!
PS - The silver wheels are a nice choice :D

The green only works with the light tan hides. And they don't offer them. What a pity!
Black wheels as this is a car heavy on the brakes. Hides the brake dust. But that's in the real world, you're living a dream! Well done!
i seriously thought no way would Tim choose yellow after the Black Series getting the yellow! It will be a cool car when finished. I haven't been a fan of their stuff for a while, but this is a beauty!
True, I thought he would go for the blue tbh, but yellow is pretty nice.
I think his first choice would have been the orange of the car he showed in the parking lot.

It's wonderful to see Lotus that has such a racing heritage are back on their feet again. I'd go for manual 6-speed, V6, racing green, black roof and all black wheels and yellow brakes. This car is absolutely beautiful and most bang for buck around. Thanks for the briefing and congrats to the purchase!
It’s just brilliant to have added a LOTUS to the garage, I had hoped a later Evora model would be there by now, but the Emira is another level
The config looks sick but I would go with yellow stitching and 12 o’clock stripe to tie in the exterior color to the interior.

It looks good with the silver wheels, very Lotus, very traditional British spec. The one thing that blew me away was that the "options" on the SF90 were more than 80K!
Very well done Shmee! Great hands on presentation of the actual exterior and interior samples since I placed my $5k deposit mid July in California. It is so crazy knowing that I have configured the same exact exterior and interior colors as you did! I also had hoped that they would included the pearl yellow exterior paint as well. Do you know what the car weighs and the 0-60mph time. My Genesis G90 also has 400 horsepower but it weighs 4,600 pounds.

Tim, I can’t tell you how many times I watched this video! I have an allocation for an Emira, which I am beyond excited for, but dealers around me are not getting palettes for colors/leathers. I have watched your video over and over to try and spec. I personally think the spec you are going with will look stunning and I agree completely with the wheel choice! Cant wait to see more on your Emira!

The new Lotus is just an extremely good looking car. Congrats to both Lotus and you, Shmee.
I love how Lotus and the Corvette C8 are offering 90% of supercar looks and performance at 20% of the cost. Although they are in the Porsche price range, there is just something special about them and the rarity or curiosity. This is basically a mini Ferrari, while the C8 is a mini Lambo.
Are in the cayman range, the 911 have prices that compets with the huracan or an F8
we all love Porsche in this price range but the long shifting in 718 is a meh

A fare assumption sir .. BUT a third of the price and twice the handling for a norwich rocket , grail car for me sir , a match for any bologna hoi polloi and enough change to treat the mrs to some plastic surgery .. " a win , win situation then " i get two new models !🙏
I spec-ed one too (for fun) after it launched, very similar to Tim's one, except mine was a V6 automatic in the Verdant Green without the contrast pack. But other than that, the same wheels and same interior colours, except the 12-o'clock stripe was red to go with the red flap on the start/stop button. I actually loved the pure silver wheels, not sure why people would think that's too much. Can't wait to see these on the road!

I had a '88 Lotus Turbo Esprit for 2 years as a daily driver and luckily had NO problems. The reason I sold it was; I'm 6 foot 3 inches tall. Although, I was quite cramped, I truly loved driving that car! But, 2 years was enough of the not so comfortable seating position. So, I sold it and bought a 911 Carrera.
That's hot.. it's gonna shine.. enjoy it!

A couple years ago I definitely would have been one of the “get black wheels!” kinda guys, but through your channel the silver wheels have grown on me (specifically with the SLS BS) quite a lot!

The spec that you have chosen is fantastic...and I think that is a truly good looking car.
I was thinking of nimbus silver for the exterior, an interior with a mix of red leather and silver Alcantara. A red Alcantara steering wheel with a silver 12 clock mark, silver wheels, and red calibers.
Just to add the production models won’t have the same ride height / stance as the blue show car you filmed. This is a show car that has lower ride height and wheel spacers. The seating position is also higher. The grey car you rode with Jenson Button in is a production car and this is how customers cars stance and ride height will look, so about 20mm higher. Also the coloured 12’o’clock mark on steering wheel is not possible on manual cars I believe but unsure on that.
That Blue Emira inside the showroom did look like it had been lowered, so I was curious if that would be the production standard ride height. Thanks for your comment which answers my question. I really hope that Lotus will bring out an option for the electric front suspension lift, like in the Corvette C8. The front end has a fair bit of overhang and will almost certainly scrape when entering and exiting some slightly inclined driveways. I am likely to place an order for an Emira when Lotus Australia releases its price soon.

Silver wheels are great. Black ones just hide the shape and make them look small. Great spec overall, I would have gone for the alcantara interior tho. Holds you better in the seat and doesn't get as hot/cold as leather does.

Route air through aero vents with a high flow filter into the cabin from the doors, cool the cabin without opening the windows, have the air exit vents through the C-pillars. Test air exit vent gills on the rear part of the roof through the aero-tunnel. For rain, use a bypass valve route mechanism or use shutters when its raining. The other aero-pieces can take care of aerodyanamics.
