Good to see Lotus still offering a manual for their last ICE sports car
That's quite amazing to see in this day and age for a modern sports car
ICE ICE babeyyy
I don’t think it’ll be their last I.C.E car. Anything can change in 8 years
@@leon__feinstein yeah but I feel if they were to make another, it might be a special edition or something low run
@@willstokes7266I hope not. A change in CEO’s. Political change. Presidential change. Prime minister change. Anything can happen, in terms of what they can and can’t do
@@leon__feinstein yes, they are all very possible scenarios that I hopeee we might see happen
The big boy go kart grows up. Excellent piece, once again.
Weight grows up too...😉🤣
How does 1.5 tons resemble a go kart again..?
@@sirmoke9646 its light and compact compared to other cars out now
@@retrorewind6042 A Boxster weighs the same, it#s even marginally lighter. A Porsche and a Lotus has always compared like a strike axe and a scalpel. This is over.
lol yes!
Finally, a real modern sports car that I'm excited about. I have become so jaded over the years with modern cars which is why I only own vintage but this is the one that will bring me into the 21st century. As a lover of Lotus from the old days, I couldn't be happier to see them alive & well, all the best!!!!
This in V6 manual, I'd definitely go there. It's gorgeous looking as well.
Same same... I want a configurator.

I can honestly say that never in my life have I considered spending 60 grand on a car as seriously as this.
in Us dollars the starting price is actually close to 83K and with options close to 100, i called and checked i already have an allocation.
you won't find one around 60k USD. 80k USD minimum, plus options 100k and then premium another 20k or so. But heck yeah, 60k USD? I will make a room in my garage
@@Denverian Yeah, I know… I don’t really have that kind of spending money either way. Used model, maybe someday..

@@dsofe4879 the last petrol car from lotus ? yeah, prices are never gonna drop.
Man the Emira looks gorgeous and it's good to see that they're still making this the attainable sports car Lotus has always been
I would say this would make the perfect sendoff for Lotus' last ICE car

Definitely the greatest feast for your eyes in 2021!!
The Elantra looks pretty good
A glimmer of light 🕯️ in an otherwise bleak year
"I'm not a golfist"
Me too man, me too!
I loved that statement. Why is golf the fricking measure of trunk space? The only people I know who own golf clubs don't care about stick shifts or nice cars. They have them stored in their garage and their wives don't let them use them.
hahahah
I'm not goldfish either.
My attention has shifted from Alpine A110 to Lotus Emira.
Exactly! It has the same philosophy but seems better in every way. Not the disappointing 1.8 liter engine. And the interior looks amazing in the Lotus and will probably feel supercar like whereas the alpine seems like a Renault Clio in comparison.
I'm on the same boat. Unfortunately I'm guessing the CO² tax in France will bring it much closer to 100k€ which is an another realm of pricing.
Yep😅
More than 200kg heavier though. They’ll feel very different to drive, need to own both I guess :)
@@warm_beer I agree. That used to a Lotus hallmark. But I won't complain when the Emira looks so good.

Hoh, the bants bro
By George, Lotus have done it again. This is the car we've been waiting for.
The British definitely knows how to design a beautiful car
Aston martin alone designed more beautiful looking cars than most of all other car makers combined

Looks fantastic! Looking forward to seeing the Emira on the road. Another great production from the Carfection team, thank you.
I love how great and in depth these interviews are. I love hearing from the people who made the car
Even the statement “our last petrol car”...makes me sad
It wont be their last. Ending the production of ICE powered cars would be the end of companies like Lotus, electric vehicles simply can't fill the same role.
I was hoping to hear a statement ‘EV?…we won’t be going down that route we are LOTUS’
Oh well 😞
@@PistonAvatarGuy Actually, isn't Lotus focusing on EV for the future?
Also petrol and ICE aren't mutually exclusive.
@@DapperHesher That was my point. Lotus will focus on EVs, no one will want EV sports cars, companies like Lotus will cease to exist. ICEs run on gasoline (petrol), so of course they're not mutually exclusive.
@@PistonAvatarGuy What? I want an EV sportscar big time. I hate that there are essentially zero of them on the market (other than old overpriced Tesla Roadsters). Everything is a giant sports sedan (Tesla, Taycan, Lucid) or some crossover or oversized compact bullshit like the eGolf or Mini SE. Having Lotus and Alpine bring a true sports EV is awesome and a unique position in the market.
>ICEs run on gasoline (petrol), so of course they're not mutually exclusive.
Well, what I mean is if petrol/gasoline goes away, ICEs running ethanol, methanol, and whatever other blends of eFuels that might come won't care. IndyCar has run thousands of races without fossil fuel at this point. Petrol isn't important to the future of ICE. It actually probably shouldn't be.
I'm glad that Lotus is back in business again
me too
Thank god you’ve done a video, couldn’t bear another minute listening to Schmee dribbling on. Great video !
Lol
Schmee sucks man hate that guy

Well Done Lotus, it's the first car in recent years that I want to buy.....
Everybody else: 8-10 minute review
Carfection: 28 minutes
Love you carfection!!❤️
yes!
For sure. It really doesn’t FEEL like 28 minutes. With other presenter’s 8 minutes, I’m wondering when it will end. With Carfection, I’m wondering, “do we get more?!?” Carfection all the way!
Those slating the looks on this car would probably be creaming their underwear if it was painted Rossa Corsa and had a prancing horse badge on it.
Very good looking car and clearly sits well as a baby Evija. My only minor gripes would be the rear looks a little bloated on the sides, and I always prefer to see an engine not an engine cover. But these are small things. Well done Lotus, hope it does well for them.
@ATS599 I agree with you. This has to be the best looking car Lotus will have mass produced.
Weird hood bumps aside (which I assume are functional and don't really even look bad at all), I think it's actually a very good-looking car. Much better than something like the C8 Corvette, which has lines on top of lines on top of lines on top of lines and becomes an angled, confusing mess from any angle other than the front.
@ATS599 I think it looks similar to the McLaren Artura. I know I shouldn’t but I like the look of the new Ferrari 296. It looks longer and lower than this and I like the nose of the Ferrari. Although the Ferrari starts at £230k and this only £60k. Tbh I don’t even like modern cars. I can’t believe it’s a lotus and weighs 1400kg :/ I’m a fan of small lightweight cars and this isn’t it but I understand why it has to be this heavy.
Good point. It does look like a mid engined Ferrari and I happen to hate the looks of most recent ferraris. The Roma is one of the few I actually like.
A beautiful looking car - cheers for Lotus!
This is the most detailed preview of the Emira that I’ve seen - top job Carfection. The last time I was this excited was when the 718 GTS 4.0 landed!
Looks good! The manual conversion looks brilliant as well, love the open design!
Id take this over a C8, for the sole reason of a manual box
Hydraulic steering, manual, better looking, lighter. The list is endless. Wish it was about 250 lbs lighter but that is my only complaint.
And that this design is beautiful where the C8 is busy!
of course you would, the c8 is without comparison the ugliest sportscar build in the last 20 years.
@@holprod00 Yeah...here you have one chief designer where Corvette will have a team of over-inclusion chaos.
Same for me.. I'd wait for the z06 but it'll be a manual also.. Used amg gt cars are at a good price point now also.. But I want 3 pedals
Carfection is easily the best Automotive channel out there. I bloody love Henry
Yes. Agree. Drive TV with Matt Farah and Mike Musto was good. Petrolicious has gone under after their leader turned out to be a Nazi. Chris Harris is the king when he isn’t on TG and trying too hard to make people laugh.

What a superb feature of an outstanding car. I really hope this new Lotus delivers on its promise. I can’t help but think they will struggle to keep up with demand if it’s even half as good as it looks. Good to see Kef involved, too!
There's 12 new videos released today on this car, but Carfection have yet again gone above and beyond. This is the one to watch.
Absolutely stunning, Lotus has really hit the apex with their last ICE car
yes!
That AMG i4 will probably be the quick one, but man the 6spd supercharged 6 is the way to go
This looks like a great Evora successor.
The Toyota V6 will be freer revving, higher revving and will sound infinitely better too. I can't see the AMG i4 having more than 400hp though, which is what the 6pot is pushing.
@@Nemoticon On their website they say 360bhp for the I4. They’re obviously sandbagging it so it doesn’t take away from the V6.
@@Nemoticon Also the AMG i4 will enable the car to be sold on world markets where the V6 doesn’t meet emission regs, or won’t for much longer.
@@ianemery7785 That is very true... and I am by no means saying the i4 is a bad engine or a bad choice. It simply wouldn't be the 'driver's choice' as the V6 offers more power, lighter weight and greater responsiveness. The i4 however is a great option to boost up sales figures, reaching a wider market.
Incredible car from Lotus and a great video from Henry and Carfection; spot on

@Martin - blindfolded getting in/out? Cayman all day, every day. But walking away and a turnaround look at the car park? Approach from the house every friggin morning? The look the Mrs. gives you when they first bring it around at the dealer? Emira, FTW.

Definitely a logical step after the M2. BMW seem to be lost design wise these days.
I always appreciate the excellently written and presented reviews. I haven't watched the full video yet but I noticed and wanted to say before I got distracted by the car: The videography and editing is absolutely on point. Really complements the style of Henry's delivery. Well done all :)

The first time in a long time that I've been excited by the look of a new sports car, well done!
What the NSX should've been.
Was just going to post this
I say the same thing about the corvette c8.
nsx will smoke this
I was thinking the exact same thing.lol Honda should take note and strip out all the electric motor stuff and sell a cheaper gas only model of the Nsx. Only thing about Emira is that I wish the v6 was twin turbo instead of supercharged
@@grizzybear9111 True but not the point. The Emira is basically a brand new version of what the original nsx was. Acura probably would have sold a lot more Nsx had they came out with something closer to what the original was with around 400hp or so and a $60k - $80k price point.
Looks like the little brother of the Maserati MC20.

Great piece Henry... I echo your sentiments at the end.
This guy is so wholesome and Henry you are absolutely smitten mate… awesome yarn boys
I absolutely love the idea of this car. Especially at £60,000 with that A45 engine and a DCT. Might actually give The Cayman a run for it’s money.
The Toyota V6 will be the better option for the Emira. Feer revving, higher revving, better sound, more power and a manual transmission... the little A45 engine with DCT will be for the hairdresser who want the looks but not the involvement or performance.
@@Nemoticon I’m more interested about the price point. Also, we all know what the A45S engine is capable of, you wouldn’t have to worry about performance. Also, I’ve never seen a hairdresser buying a Lotus 🤣
Plus the BMW Z4, Supra, new Nissan 380 Z, and a bunch more of newer cars
@@Nemoticon I’m a big fan of both engines. I might be wrong but the car might actually be lighter with the 4 cylinder even with the DCT. I think all the hairdressers moved onto bog standard Audi TT Convertibles a long time ago.
Also, they’re definitely sandbagging that AMG engine by only giving it 360bhp in order not to take anything away from the V6. We all no that that engine is capable of 410bhp minimum.
I can imagine a crowd of people walking around it at a cars & coffee just taking it in
And that is the horror of modern car culture right there :(

Yeah, mee too. a full size McLaren 720s Spider only weighs about 1490Kg and that's packing a full 4L V8 and an integheral Transaxle.
Look into how the weight is measured. I think it includes a fairly porky driver and fuel. Other cars don’t include this…

That bonded aluminum workhorse is why you get to have a car this beautiful, this performant, at this pricepoint. A pure carbon fibre chassis would push this well into "cheap McLaren" territory if it were still this excellent and well put together. Even though the V6 manual will likely be around $100,000 US by the time it makes it over here I think I'll still pull out all the stops I can to have this be my first ever sports car now that I'm on the verge of being able to afford one

Man ur review of lotus emira is better than the other channel 👏👏
This is a great successor and finale for lotus’ last ICE car. Perfection that will age well.
The price of this thing is low enough that it's in striking range of a C8, and I must say that this car is what the C8 wishes it could be. Damn fine job, Lotus!
@Martin Cayman/Boxster, yes. More specifically, the 4-cyl competes with the S and the 6-cyl competes with the GTS. But those cars are also in striking range of the Corvette. Unlike the 718, though, the Corvette tries to sell on the image of "baby supercar", and this new Lotus does that infinitely better while not being outside the price radius of the various Corvette trims (including the unreleased Z06). And it does it while preserving fun options that the driver can properly enjoy that the Corvette dropped in the pursuit of technical capability that is unusable anywhere that isn't a track.
Not to mention the c8 is incredibly hard to get for msrp. Everyone is listing them for way more.
Would be a very tough choice!
Looks absoulutely awesome
