Damn girl you know how to choose Filipino snacks. Unlike most of the youtubers who buy the snacks in the supermarket, you get them in legit filipino stores. Amazing Simona!
An example is the Irish tries Filipino food one. Though to be fair, the ones who gave them the food didn't teach them how to eat it. Like for stews and such, you're supposed to eat it with rice because the flavor would be too strong. It's just not meant to be eaten on its own.
i love you simona, you picked most of our authentic and traditionally made snacks! wow great job... because i dont consider flavored potato chips or processed chocolate snacks covered in foiled packaging as very filipino kind of snacks... we just acquired that sort of things from the western side of the globe... so nice choice of snacks for taste testing.. and i admire your courage to pick those kinds of foods even if some doesnt have written contents and "how-to's" in their packaging... very well done
+Rommel Amolo Hahaha, salamat po! Thank you for the kind words and encouragement!!! The Filipinos have such a rich culture and a lot of it is in the food! 💜💜 so much love for you guys!
I have watched many of these types of videos before, and I must say I really like how you present each snack and don't over react. Plus your issues with your camera overheating and the thunderstorm outside while you taste and review and each snack is very genuine and charming. I also appreciate how you mention what drinks like tea might pair off well with some of the snacks.
+Miriam Camagay are you Filo-Aussie?? 💜💜 Hahaha, I've fallen in love with the culture here! The people, the food 💞 Thanks so much for leaving some love!!
Yeah you'e one of the only ones who really get varied snacks and not the jink food. I want to see you try the streetfood. Betamax, isaw, balut and all. Love your videos always!
The flat bread with filling is Piaya (pi-ya-ya) it originated from the Panay-Negros islands.. the filling is muscovado sugar, an unrefined sugar. It's my favorite!
The black seeds are Watermelon Seeds or what we call "Butong Pakwan/ Buto ng Pakwan" :) also the pita bread one is called piaya best eaten when freshly cooked or buy bongbong's brand and heat it abit also try the Ube Flavor :)
The twisted pastry with sugar has a fresher version and they're more delicious than the stale you got. It must've been sitting on the shelves for quite sometime.
I've never seen a foreigner like Filipino food like this before. Makes me so happy ❤️ hope you get to sample more and applause for getting food from real stores and not the supermarket ✨
So after watching numerous vids of yours, this is my 1st time that I'll comment here. I just found a gold and that is your channel, one thing that I like about you is that you're not judging something based on your personal preferences alone, you're embracing another culture without holding back and thinking your comfort zone which is one of the qualities that I'm finding to bunch of foreigners reacting to filipino stuffs. Kudos Simona! hope to see you someday, as a final conclusion I'll bring a food with me every time that I'll watch your video. I'll be prepared you'll see! xD
The stale pastry is called PILIPIT (twisted)!. Sometimes it gets stale but it normally taste sweet crunchy sugar coated bread stick. The one in the colored plastic is called PULBORON (Pulbo = Powder) it's made of powdered milk mixed with sugar, butter etc..
This is the first vlog of your's that I watched and can't help but to subscribe and watch it all. Suggestions: 1. Mercato Central - BGC, Taguig City Schedule: Fridays & Saturdays 6:00 PM - 3:00 AM 2. Salcedo Market- Makati City Schedule: July 2017: July 01, 08, 15, 22, 29, 2017 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM
A filipino here and my first time watching ur videos. Subscribed!! Thanks for highlighting good foods and delicacies here in the philippines.will be watching and sharing ur videos.
THE EYE ROLLS AHAHHAHAHA OMF COULD GO FOR SOME TURON RIGHT NOWWW 😩😩😩🤤🤤🤤 more videos please!!!! ive finished binge watching your vids hehehhehe, much love 🌸🌺💖💘💝
Nice one simona! You're so brave to continue filming even there's a lightning/thunder. Btw, it made your taste testing more thrilling and original though! lol! *Pork chicharon is so delicious, right? So sad its high in fat too :( *The twisted pastry was not meant to be stale but get easily stale because of the packaging and temperature. (good with coffee or tea) *Shing-aling is so good too but not available everywhere in the country (I'm from Pampanga). I'm not a fan of sharing if the food is so good too! lol
heya alexie, both are custard base, only difference is leche flan has milk and the Crème brûlée has thick cream... but i would definitely go for the flan at any given sunday :)
Stephen Bonaobra Do you remember the Leche Flan I brought for our pot luck before we moved to MDC? Hahaha. Still use the same recipe. (Can't help but comment because I found you again. LOL)
Just discovered your channel and really enjoying it :) As an Aussie with Filo/Italian background, it's really cool to see someone experiencing and enjoying Filo culture, i.e. all the best snacks haha.
this is my 3rd consecutive video of you already . myy gee . why is that i discover you just now . KEEP EATING filipino food , kay ? gonna watch out for more 😍😊😊
simona oh and have you already tried Filipino Rice Cakes? I don't know if it would fall under snacks, but Rice Cakes is its own menu. You should try it! Suman, Biko, Palitaw, Espasol, Sapin-sapin, Bicho-Bicho, Bibingka, Kutsinta, Puto, etc.
+Judah Penacerrada I'm just taking a screenshot of this comment, hahaha. It's too much to copy down! I'll hunt them all!! Thanks for the recommendations!!! 💜💜
That's "plantain" or cooking banana used in "turon". Bananas are traditionally eaten raw as they are sweet while plantains are cooked before eaten whether baked or fried. They are the fruit of the same species (or hybrids), yet they have very noticeable differences. This is because plantains and bananas are the result of different cultivars, or the botanical equivalent of breeds.
With the pumpkin seeds, i crack it by biting sideways until its open then just eat the thin almond like flake. Dont eat the shell it might be too salty. Love your videos, i wish filipinos would explore more with our very own foods xx
Thank you also for trying out our foods, incase you'll go here we'll hook you with more tasty filipino foods and exotic ones as well if you may haha ❤✨
the watermelon seeds which are the white variety can be eaten whole as the shell are softer compared to black variety which are tougher. Mostly it is eaten by cracking the and eating only the seed inside.
The first one is Sylvannas. The pita bread thing is Piyaya, unleavened bread with Mung Bean Filling. Although there are variations of fillings available. The twisted one is Pilipit, and you are right, they should taste like crunchy donuts. Maybe they gave you a bad bag since small manufacturers most often forget to include 'best before' dates. Shing-Aling goes best with vinegar. Nice vid Simone.
Next you should try local pastries and rice cakes - bibingka, puto, ube halaya, cassava cake, buko pie, pineapple tart, bibingkang kanin, sapin-sapin, maja blanca, etc.
the black seeds are watermelon seeds (butong pakwan) you have to crack the black part to eat the white part only.. you are amazing, Simona.. 😊 those snacks are legit!!
great vlog simona.i like your food of choice its more healthier than commercialize junk food.the shingaling wad made of fried dog's ear im kidding (it was a bad joke) i know😂 but i think it was made of flour im not sure.anyway i become a fan of yours looking forward for more vlogs.
I DO THE SAME TO THOSE PUMPKIN SEEDS. I EAT THE WHOLE THING! 😂 It takes so much effort into opening it so why the heck cant we just eat the whole seed. Plus, it's tasty like you said Simona. hehe Love your videos!
6 mos and she won't be able to wear all her clothes.... ... since she live in tagaytay seh should try senorita.. . the twisty bread is called pilipit means twisted, its suppose to be hard and crunchy... must be moisture inside the packaging. Love the sound effect very realistic.
Yes, try the senoritas, they're basically tiny bananas, and they're super sweet. Not usually available in the supermarkets, but can be found from time to time in the local markets.
simona Don't know if anyone told you this, but try adobo just about anywhere you can. Some do it sweet, some do it spicy, some do it sour. It's all adobo, but it's still somehow different.
one of the most honest reaction i've seen here on youtube in terms of tasting filipino food. and funny too.... definitely subscribing (2 thumbs up). From davao
Its tu-ron not turong by the way haha lol also i'm filipino but there are so much native snacks and delicacies i'm still not familiar with all of them😧 the snacks all originate from different towns and cities in the Philippines that's why some cities have different unique specialty foods, say you might have not encountered this type of snack in Batangas and it can be found in another part of the country
+Crisp Rat OMG I HAD THIS CONVERSATION THIS MORNING WITH SOMEONE!! they corrected me too!!!! How embarassing, hahahah Salamat po! I hope I can visit many more places in the Philippines and try their food 💜💜💜
I'm glad I saw your video trying out the food from Jollibee and I'm now watching your videos. Though I must confess just like the others, I enjoy watching your taste test videos! Glad you gave Turon a 10 and yes, we call it Shingaling. More of these videos please. 😊
Wait! you're in the Philippines? you're modelling aren't you? because you look like one. Anyway, I might be the only one who'll oppose on the street food idea. Your stomach might get ill. If you really want to try street food, try the banana cue or the fruits or the TAHO instead because those are healthy. Do you drink? try our local beers.
+queen nie definitely not! Hahah, but I appreciate the compliment!! I'm a little concerned with the stomach thing too... I might try something cleaner first, and hopefully get used to the foods and spices and whatnot! Thanks for being so considerate!! ❤❤💜
simona they sell a lot of street food in supermarkets. Just buy them and cook it at home. It's mostly all fried or grilled. Not sure where you are but try out pure gold supermarkets and or SM grocery.
Turon - banana (Saba), Brown Sugar, & lumpia / shanghai wrapper. deep fried. sometimes with Langka (Jackfruit) which makes it so much better. Watermelon Seeds or "Butong pakwan". its salty but you dont eat the shell but its good. lol the colorful thing is like shortbread cookies or we call it POLVORON. it contains milk powder, flour and sugar (some put peanuts) the 4th to the last product was PIAYA. idk whats really in it but I love it too. Shingaling is made of miki bihon (im not sure) When getting authentic snacks like that, ask for the fresh stuff or you can check it by its packaging be careful for stale stuff because some of it only lasts for few weeks / days.
the orange packaging round snak that you chose by using ini mini minie is called POLVORON..its made from ground conr and it has a lot of flavors..the ingredients are mainly corn flour, margarine, sugar, pork fat or oil and vanilla escense.
Omg, Simona! Because of this vid, I am now missing PH more. Currently, I'm here in UAE to work. 😭 Even the rain, I miss it!!! Turon is heaven, it's what I always cook back home. 💕 Thanks for loving the Philippines! 😊
Just writing stuff that goes through my head as I watch your video :) If almost all your viewers, then definitely fooood is on top of the viewing list, haha :D I think they all love it when you taste something delicious and your eyes roll in haha. Now this is authentic Filipino snacks, those made from humble homes, and not the "junk food" that most RUclipsrs got to try. Thanks for the treat simona! feels like I'm eating them with you hehe. The melt-in-your-mouth thing is called Polvoron, btw. It comes in different flavors nowadays but I think you tried the classic. Eenie-meenie is the best way to make decisions (that aren't life-changing :D). The second one, like a flatbread is Piaya. It's best to eat them warm :) The seeds, we usually eat them without the shell. To remove the shell isss tricky. My technique is to place the narrower (or pointed) edge of the seed between my teeth vertically, then once you have a small opening you can tear the rest of the shell apart. Hope this helps :D Shing-a-ling is my favorite, too
The twisted pastries are called Pilipit and there are fresh ones that you could buy. Maybe the reason why it tastes stale is because it has been stored for a little while before you were able to buy it. The pumpkin seeds you can eat without the shell or skin, but I personally love it as well. I love watching your videos 😁
You really are fun to watch! Thank you for appreciating Filipino foods/culture. 😘 I already love you! ❤ You should try our streetfoods, ulam (like adobo, sinigang, bicol express etc.), and other desserts and delicacies like leche flan, bibingka, puto bungbong and buko pie. 😁
I'm leaving this here, my subscription, right now it's 5.3 k. Sooner or later, it'll be 100 k, and I'll proudly say I'm one of them. Keep up the great work and good luck to you Simona :)
At timestamp 13:47 that snack calls PIAYA it made by filling dough w mixture of muscovado and glucose syrup. It originated in BACOLOD and Piaya Bacolod taste better 👐👍
the powdery thing in colored plastic is polvoron, made of butter flour and sugar w/ peanut or rice crispies, my mom used to make hundreds of the for selling 😍😍😍 i miss it already waaaaah
You are so adorable and I like how honest you are. You say when you don't like it, you say when you do like it. I don't like reviewers who say good things just to please the country. I think 1-10 ratings are the most objective way.
The snacks you chose this time are ALL YUMMY! Makes me want to eat turon too. ^_^ The round ones wrapped in colored plastic are called POLVORON and they come in different flavors. The sugar on dried fruits also help to preserve it. The snack after the dried pineapples is called PIYAYA and the filling is muscovado sugar.
...wow really? the best pulvoron in the Philippines is Goldilock's Pulvoron...it comes in different flavors...the original (the one you tried)...ube pulvoron...chocolate pulvoron...pinipig pulvoron and coockies and cream pulvoron...
The one that looks like a toasted bread with a circular shape and no label is called Piaya. It is made of all purpose flour, salt, butter, sugar and sesame seeds. It is also comes with different flavors like Ube.
You've earned a subscriber! Honest opinions and really just delving into the culture make you a perfect ambassador for tourism. On second thought you might stop making videos since you'll get too busy, just stay the way you are. And keep up the great job!
The thing that you ate with yellow wrapper is called "pulvoron". Its made out of flour, powdered milk, sugar, pinipig and butter. The seedy texture that you were tasting is called "pinipig" - its like puff rice.
Damn girl you know how to choose Filipino snacks. Unlike most of the youtubers who buy the snacks in the supermarket, you get them in legit filipino stores. Amazing Simona!
+Ryan Rio salamat po!!! 💓 thank you for the kinds words!
Kakagutom 😂
Ryan Rio agreed! love her choices
Haha have to agree, we loved trying the food in the Philippines but we didnt see any of these! Nice haul, you went deeeeep!
hi Simona... u should have cracked the watermelon seeds...
This is the kind of food tasting I enjoy to watch. Authentic food without the gagging and so much drama. 🇵🇭
+Yssa Quines gagging?! What are they, children?! How absurd!
They sound like a bunch of drama Queens.
Yssa Quines I agree. I think they are just trying too hard to be funny instead of just reviewing or rating the food. This channel is awesome!
An example is the Irish tries Filipino food one. Though to be fair, the ones who gave them the food didn't teach them how to eat it. Like for stews and such, you're supposed to eat it with rice because the flavor would be too strong. It's just not meant to be eaten on its own.
I agree.

Gykka Marie Caratao Yeah, usually the yellow wrapped ones have pinipig.
the one rapped with colorful plstic is PULBORON made of butter, flour and most of the time peanut.. the flat round food is PIYAYA
The round flat bread is called piaya. Since u like savory stuff, try spicy dilis if u can take the heat.
Simona! I'm so happy for you! your channel is really getting big! Keep it up!!

+alex lopes more like 6 days and I won't fit my clothes. You're too optimistic.
Yes, try the senoritas, they're basically tiny bananas, and they're super sweet. Not usually available in the supermarkets, but can be found from time to time in the local markets.
simona don't get me wrong I support whatever you wanna do and whatever you may become! 😆😆😆💓💓💓✌
those are water melon seeds you need to crack the seed and eat the ones inside
+John Leonard Vivar really?!?!?!? Ahh, hahahah thank you! I thought they were pumpkin seeds
Try the filipino deserts halo-halo, puto, sapin sapin, leche flan
just like your previous, i love how you honestly tell when you're not into the food you tasted. hope you'd try main dishes next time :)
+Rizzel Tena main dishes are trouble... because I love food food more than snack food! And you guys have some serious food food 😂💜❤💜
I am a blogger and I am following you! I like the fact that you have been here in Mindanao and never have a bad impression. Awesome!
+Rougene sami 💜💜✌✌
Wow! Butong pakwan! Watermelon seeds :D Crack the shell by biting, and eat the inside. :)
Adrian Bigno pati yung balat natikman nyan hehe

"You guys have such a rich culture of food"
every province has their own way doing things loke cooking food and what not
+Cedie Austria it's incredible. I'm in awe. 💜💜💜
simona Don't know if anyone told you this, but try adobo just about anywhere you can. Some do it sweet, some do it spicy, some do it sour. It's all adobo, but it's still somehow different.
one of the most honest reaction i've seen here on youtube in terms of tasting filipino food. and funny too.... definitely subscribing (2 thumbs up). From davao
proud pinay here!😙😙😙 its always made me feel proud everytime i saw videos like this... foreign tryin filipino food/dishes!
good job to this! 😚😚😚
+Sarang Epi salamat po! 💜💜💖
How embarassing, hahahah
Salamat po! I hope I can visit many more places in the Philippines and try their food 💜💜💜
first name last name 🙄
We cook turon everyday in our home because we sell them to our neighbors. :)
+Adrian Bigno OMG IM SO JEALOUS. The smell would me amazing!!! 💖
@11:25 Polvoron
I'm glad I saw your video trying out the food from Jollibee and I'm now watching your videos. Though I must confess just like the others, I enjoy watching your taste test videos! Glad you gave Turon a 10 and yes, we call it Shingaling. More of these videos please. 😊
+Bph Lover Hahaha, yeah they're the most popular vids! 💜💜💜 thanks for the love po!
I'm so sad today but you made my day. Love your personality. Such a good vibes.
+Coney Island 💜💜✌
Wait! you're in the Philippines? you're modelling aren't you? because you look like one.
Local beers? I suggest lambanog 😂
Turon - banana (Saba), Brown Sugar, & lumpia / shanghai wrapper. deep fried. sometimes with Langka (Jackfruit) which makes it so much better.
Watermelon Seeds or "Butong pakwan". its salty but you dont eat the shell but its good. lol
the colorful thing is like shortbread cookies or we call it POLVORON. it contains milk powder, flour and sugar (some put peanuts)
the 4th to the last product was PIAYA. idk whats really in it but I love it too.
Shingaling is made of miki bihon (im not sure)
When getting authentic snacks like that, ask for the fresh stuff or you can check it by its packaging be careful for stale stuff because some of it only lasts for few weeks / days.
Excellent advice! Salamat po!!
You are legit so adorable and fun to watch. Your reactions are so heart-warming. ❤
the orange packaging round snak that you chose by using ini mini minie is called POLVORON..its made from ground conr and it has a lot of flavors..the ingredients are mainly corn flour, margarine, sugar, pork fat or oil and vanilla escense.
+Aries Garcia oh wow, interesting ingredients

+Mordecai D'Intelligent salamat po! 💜💜
13:37 its called piaya... its sweet.. and comes in different flavors too. Best consumed with coffee(no sugar) and tea:
Just writing stuff that goes through my head as I watch your video :)
If almost all your viewers, then definitely fooood is on top of the viewing list, haha :D I think they all love it when you taste something delicious and your eyes roll in haha.
Hope this helps :D Shing-a-ling is my favorite, too
+Sheena Rose Solero it helps!!! Thanks foe the info and advice!!! Salamat po!! 💜💜💖
+k82396 probably!! Salamat po!! 💖💖
You really are fun to watch! Thank you for appreciating Filipino foods/culture. 😘 I already love you! ❤
You should try our streetfoods, ulam (like adobo, sinigang, bicol express etc.), and other desserts and delicacies like leche flan, bibingka, puto bungbong and buko pie. 😁
+Eden Grace salamat po!! ❤ thank you for the love! I just screenshot your comment so I can easily look up your items in the stores!! ❤❤
Love your taste test vlogs. Very in-depth and funny. Can’t wait for your next culinary adventures!
I'm leaving this here, my subscription, right now it's 5.3 k. Sooner or later, it'll be 100 k, and I'll proudly say I'm one of them. Keep up the great work and good luck to you Simona :)
+Joseph Bautista that such a sweet thing for you to say Jospeh!! 💜💜💜 thank you for the love po!

the powdery thing in colored plastic is polvoron, made of butter flour and sugar w/ peanut or rice crispies, my mom used to make hundreds of the for selling 😍😍😍 i miss it already waaaaah
+jhoana bandillo it's my mum's favourite!
+jhoana bandillo your mum sounds amazing!!! 💜💜💜
You are so adorable and I like how honest you are. You say when you don't like it, you say when you do like it. I don't like reviewers who say good things just to please the country. I think 1-10 ratings are the most objective way.
So love how you got those snacks and so happy you liked them.
The snacks you chose this time are ALL YUMMY! Makes me want to eat turon too. ^_^
The round ones wrapped in colored plastic are called POLVORON and they come in different flavors.
The sugar on dried fruits also help to preserve it.
The snack after the dried pineapples is called PIYAYA and the filling is muscovado sugar.
...the 5 pcs round with different colored wrappings is called pulvoron...flour skimmed milk sugar butter...
+Jonnie Candaza my mum's favourite!
...wow really? the best pulvoron in the Philippines is Goldilock's Pulvoron...it comes in different flavors...the original (the one you tried)...ube pulvoron...chocolate pulvoron...pinipig pulvoron and coockies and cream pulvoron...
The one that looks like a toasted bread with a circular shape and no label is called Piaya. It is made of all purpose flour, salt, butter, sugar and sesame seeds. It is also comes with different flavors like Ube.
+Do You Chafe? Can't wait to try the ube flavour
You've earned a subscriber! Honest opinions and really just delving into the culture make you a perfect ambassador for tourism. On second thought you might stop making videos since you'll get too busy, just stay the way you are. And keep up the great job!
+Yuna salamat po for the kind words! And welcome to the family 💜💜🤗
The thing that you ate with yellow wrapper is called "pulvoron". Its made out of flour, powdered milk, sugar, pinipig and butter. The seedy texture that you were tasting is called "pinipig" - its like puff rice.
I just subscribed to your videos your amazing I also loved the sound of the rain and thunder it was very calming cant wait to watch more
+Beethoven's Life welcome to the family po!! 💜💜 thank you for the love!
I really like it whenever you roll your eyes if you love the food that you are eating. So cute!
More taste test for Filipino food! 😍
dried food has added salt or sugar as preservatives, fruits has natural sugars in them but those are not enough to help preserve it
+aj roque very valid point, thank you for commenting!
