The Rolling Stones at their finest with Mick Taylor….
I saw/heard him with them when I was in the Air Force. 1968....got to see them four times in two days. ::::twice at the University of Illinois. The next day, I drove north to Chicage where I caught both shows again and at the last concert, I was DEAD CENTER pressed against the stage with police lined up. they let me stay. Mick was three feet away, Keith was to the right (could see his fillings!) Taylor was just perfect.....was to my left and his 'sound' is terrific. smooth and tasteful. I GOT LUCKY 🎸
1969.
You witnessed history and it sounds like you know it. Good on ya
The Best stones guitarist ever
Best guitar player the stones ever had no doubt !!
Definitely the best but Ronnie was a better fit in my opinion.
One of the best ever. Even better than the over rated Jimmy Hendrix
For sure but Kieth and Mick were friends I guess
@@user-cu7ii5qc1m you don’t believe that
Absolutely
He took the Stones to places musically that they had not been before.
And haven't been since
hi user, I agree but the Stones earlier best stuff was mainly without MickT. Their greatest body of work/hits was majority [but not all ] Brian Jones and Keith. All their best hits were 62 - 72... and yes, there was lots of Mick T on Sticky and Exile.
I do believe their best era was notably without Ron Wood [ whom I love as well but hey it was mainly downhill from 1972 on with a few bright spots eg [time waits for no one.. basically Mick and Nicky Hopkins stealing the show] popping through the their catalogue. Still, the Stones always were head and shoulders above their peers].
@@jamesewanchook2276 come on, LET IT BLEED , STICKY FINGERS, EXILE ON MAIN ST , GOATS HEAD SOUP were the Stones " MAGNUM OPUS TIMEFRAME , early stuff was good ,Beggers Banquet "is great ......
@@peterherard8207 Hi Peter, Brian Jones hit era still beats any post 1972 except maybe Some Girls [ an anomaly ] Goat's Head Soup although excellent, seems a little bit slick and over produced; alas, It suffers from following Exile. 68 to 72 were best years of all. Cheers from Vancouver!
One of my favorite Stones songs. I never get tired of hearing it.
on fire with Taylor
Has one of the best intros into a song. From there it is classic Mick!!
Absolutely incredible! Taylor's delicate jazzy-blues textures made a beautiful fusion that, to my ears, always came off more introspectively than Carlos Santana's playing - as was always the comparison with this particular tune.
I got bored at the end, only thing that changed was the guitar. The backing track just drones on and on...
@@bujfvjg7222 Sure, I can see that. They're just having fun with it though. And (chances are) they were pretty juiced up. I dig the mood on it anyway. There are more experimental versions out there...and longer. lol
Mick T brought a beauty and magic to the Stones. He balanced out Mick J's charisma that was previously surrounded by guys that looked like extras for the Addams family
🤣🤣🤣 omg brutal ... But true !! 👍
MT 🌟
On the song Time waits for no one near the end of it during his solo Mick and Nicky Hopkins weave back-and-forth to make a beautiful song
Keith was kinda cute when young. Always had a hip, timeless style. Made disheveled looks so good
Mick Taylors song 100 per cent and Oh 😳 What a version!!!!!! Saved for any of those "down" moments 🔥👍, met him and got his autograph in his dressing room after his Dublin show 2001
Mick Taylor band little red rooster live album 😳🤯🤯🥴 Headphones burst into flames from that slide guitar!! Took the stones into the stratosphere but let's not get carried away. Can't you hear me knocking is Keith Richards personified! That slashing guttural riff still gives ne goosebumps 50 years after i first heard it blasting out of my brothers Panasonic Thruster speakers. Blew my 15 yr old mind !
Agree with you Mark as regards studio version, I just love this particular live version where Taylor cuts loose, I'm a huge Keith fan, my house is a shrine to him, Keith picture vinyls, T shirts, bootlegs, official releases, posters ets
Not 100% Taylor's song at all !! 😂
The song is classic Keith & Mick !!
The Taylor solo was a spontaneous jam at the end & don't forget Bobby Keyes brilliance !!😊
Man what tone!
AMEN! What might have been...if Keith had not been so jealous, so scared...and if Mick had stood up for Mick...and if they had just given Mick some respect...and royalties of course!!!
Dumbass he did zilch without the stones nothing
Mick Taylor is great guitarist, but Keith is more than a guitar player
@@user-hh5te1fr4w No doubt. My # 2 of all time due to his songwriting, performance, duration etc. I just wish he had the foresight to appreciate MT & keep him around a bit longer.
Jealous and scared? Not a chance. They knew all about Mick T when they hired him; if Keith was going to be jealous and scared they never would have let Mick join.
@@slide4180 Indeed. He was a 19 year old kid joining the greatest rock and roll band, ever. Yeah, they knew exactly what they were doing. Biggest ripoff in rock & roll history...maybe after John Fogerty...or Chuck Berry...or Little Richard...or well, you get the point 😊
El Maestro Mick Taylor con su talento tan especial, creo que su toque musical fue, es y será excelente, saludos desde el Edo de México, México.
В Мексике наверное свои хорошие музыканты , назовите их буду вам благодарен за это .
Man,,,He is ONE of the Best🎸 Him and Peter Greenbaum have Always been on my list of the Greatest🎸
Super beat by B.P on drums and Mick Taylor, spectacular 🎸
Desde que se fue, los Stones no volvieron a tener esa calidad en su música.
Mick Taylor is the rolling stones......keep on rolling
Great solo!
Amazing. Awesome
I feel a bit of a connection I'm 63yo raised in Merced CA, folks are from St.Louis, live in Arkansas Now, playing guitar 🎸since 1980, my great-grandmother, Maiden name was Sadie Taylor from great Britain 🇬🇧😀❤😄😊💙🇬🇧
Thanks.
très très très bon musicien 🎸où est il en 2023?? brillant avec les Stones .☀️☀️🇲🇨
One of the ten best...
Fantastic
His guitar took the stones to another level. Shame mick and Keith’s royalty greed screwed him. He was very young compared to them
Jagger/Richard got Fkd by Allen Klein and they were living paycheck to paycheck in those days. They were not going to share equally with a hired hand like Taylor. After all they were capitalists.
Didn’t know Allan Klein was involved in the stones too. Interesting. Thank you
@@jamesewanchook2276 thanks James . I never knew Klein was involved with the stones too. Interesting. Although there was a squeezing mick Taylor out of some songwriting royalties I read. But thanks for the info.
@@Mncrr Hi Pot353, Jagger/Richard got no royalties from any of their prolific best hits 64 to 70. They were amateur businessmen and Allen Klein bilked them of all their creative gain. That's why MJ stopped taking drugs and became a fellow capitalist. Mick Taylor was just an 18 year old decent guitar player with a nice English look and blues-ish sound. When Jagger/Richards started Rolling Stones Records... aka Sticky Fingers up til now ... 'then' they became the new Allen Klein... alas , it's a cruel business... M.T'aylor's lucky to get out alive.
@@jamesewanchook2276knew Klein was like that with Beatles but never knew this. Thanks. Read about what happened to badfinger. Tragic
Sweet playing right here.
Very good.
Reading the multiple comments leads me to believe that he made the
Stones so much better I cant argue that i put the Original Cant you hear me knocking as the best riff in music
Just sayin bro
Fred Farkle really knows good music The nose knows
Keith’s a great song writer but Mick Taylor is like salt and pepper, he made everything the Stones did better.
So did Brian Jones, thing is Brian was way way more unique.
I’m sorry but did you say Sgt Peppers?
Stones would have been just as successful without Taylor though I love his work. [eg, Let it Bleed is all Keith.] . Look .. the best ignored guitarist in R/R is Robbie Krieger of the Doors. He also would have made the Stones better.
Best description iv ever heard describing Taylors' contributions to the Stones
Brian Jones was versatile, but Mick Taylor was quite possibly dragged out of the Mississippi Delta ....he added something missing
I think the stones made a massive big JOAB off a mistake by NOT giving him the writing credits he earned 😢 the stones where never the same after he quit🤷♂️
I agree, however for the Stones to survive they needed a doormat ...enter Ron Wood.
After he quit they were better!!! Matter of opinion.
@@stephenscharaldi1668 It's funny, lots of musicians I met discovered the Stones post Taylor. Lets face it, Ron Wood ain't no slouch. I just think the Stones were 'relevant' and and did their best stuff 1965 to 'Exile on Main Street'...pretty good run. Have a great day from Vancouver.
The Mick Taylor version of The Rolling Stones was when the moniker " GREATEST ROCK N ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD " was at its MOST factual!!! No offense Woody but Taylor was the acme " blues guitarist in a box " he HAS IT ALL
If Mick Taylor would have stayed , Some Girls , Tattoo You would've been FAR GREATER ALBUMS THEN THEY WERE **I didn't mention Emotional Rescue cause even Mick Taylor couldn't have saved that
Oops! Mr. Taylor, was definitely the best lead guitar player the Stones ever had! Bar none. I especially loved his work on Shine a Light! Tremendous talent. Just saying. Jim
Shine a Light: My personal favorite Stones song if a true RS fan can actually choose a favorite. Jagger & Leon Russel also had an earlier version of the song.
Love the Wah Wah version . Very cool . Love Mick. Stones we’re at their Zenith with him . Ronnie Wood, meh…..
Ron est bon aussi sans parler de Brian . Chacun sa période !
Greeeeaaat
The ONLY guitar player they ever had.
They had something more than a mere guitar player with Brian Jones. Mick Taylor isn't on 'Hot Rocks'.
Yes, Brian Jones was a very well rounded musician. I agree.
He definitely
I wonder if he still tours, I saw him in CT. in 87, gr8 show
i was there , the club tip toe ... will never forget it! he was shitfaced but so what
YESSSS Best INTRo.... ever?.... Fk i just think a very larg number of their intros are Best.. DO Doo do doo , do do, Do doo do dooo..
if I may allow myself, even if it is true that the stones period Mick T remains the best, it is mainly due to the fact of the enormous creative flow which lives in Keith at this time (say between 68 and 1973) Jagger has a few flashes of genius too, all accompanied by the best rhythm section of the time. certainly Taylor is an essential contribution but even if the Stones without him will be less good later, Taylor without the Stones will not go very far either...
Didn"t go anywhere at all in fact, zero memorable song or even lick to his credit, just happy to rehash old blues tunes to death in tiny clubs...until Jagger dragged him out of his misery in 2009 during the Exile Deluxe and then got him on board from 2012 to 2014. Apparently he made enough money during that period to just retire completely after that.
There was just an amazing creative energy around the Stones at that time.
Keith made the tune with the opening lead . I really think it should've been two songs. First part for dumping Whiskey and snorting something and the second part for that big joint for later on 😛😛❗❗
i tried that and it works just fine.
Mick ,. Dave's not here........... Mick??? Dave? This'll. Hurt ya sounds...... Stevecropper. Had💬to be here.......had to
No Jones....no Stones.......
Strangely run of the mill here.
Krypton was the place late 80s.
Que lastima que se retiró de los Stones. Unos de los Mejores con la guitarra
Exceptional playing but that’s the difference - the songs play songs with lyrics and music to listen. He tastefully just let it fly.
And maybe he thought a lot of how good a band he left.
Rien à rajouter, personne ne peut égaler Mike en concert avec sa Les Paul..
Banksville ny?is that across the CT line off North St?
To good for the stones !….an amazing guitar player.
Mick’s more recent versions of Can’t You Hear me Knocking are more watered down.
hella guitar player
YES! Mick Taylor was a wonderfully lyrical guitarist, no doubt. What happened? Why did he leave the Stones? Was it the insufferable egomania of Mick and Keith or did he just get burned out on touring and all that?
The stones were at their best when they were all junkies and Mick Taylor was in the band
being a junkie can kill you.
Sadly…. But true!
Without video, who is playing?
Sorry lads, this version is kind of dull. I guess they worked it out eventually.
Похоже проигрыша Липкие пальцы.
Only valued personally at £800 000. Shows how crap Richards and Jagger really are. Last guys you'd want in the band.
MT, who'm I love [ next to B. Jones] , blew it... If he only is worth 800k today , boo hoo, he's had 50 years to leverage the fame Mick and Keith exposed him too . How many of us get that chance?
They butchered the song 🤣
Come on. Really? Butchered?? Where is your head at?
Opinions are like assholes everybody got one. Personally I dig it.
@@cbone5999 well i dont and thats it...just like you said, i have a right to an opinion and i made a comment...that is what a comment section is for...
it is kind of dull... but that's what a final mix can do with a couple of rehearsals with the right producer.
He was too good for rhe Disco music stones
yeah I hated emotional rescue all that sissy crap
Mick who????
