    Super rare alternate take from the Rolling Stones Sticky fingers sessions in 1970. A segment of the jam was found on an acetate single as a B side to another unreleased Stones song called 'Keef's teeth'.
    Originally called 'Can't you hear me nickin'?' as a tongue in cheek tribute to Nicky Hopkins, this session features an absolutely brilliant extended 1 hour plus solo from Mick Taylor, incorporating a new scale he had developed called 'minoxidilian', which had previously been used to prevent hair loss. Mick had insisted on the extended jam session, as he had been feeling creatively stifled, and forced the band to play at gun point. "I have at least one really, really, extended solo in me. It needs to come out." said Taylor in a Rolling Stone interview while they recorded at Pepe Le Pew studio in France. When Mick and Keith refused to put the 1 hour solo on the album, Mick quit the band three years later.
    "My resentment kept building after that snub." recalls Mick. "I wanted to quit earlier than I did and join the Jack Bruce band, as Jack had promised me I could solo for days, but I needed the Stones tour money to buy strings and pay off Bill Wyman for his expensive stage presence lessons, which helped me immensely. I can't believe they butchered my solo down to 2 minutes on the Sticky fingers album. After they refused to put out a double album with my solo on it, I tried to play the entire solo during our Brussels gig, but they still said it was too long and people would get bored. Bollocks!"
    According to bassist Bill Wyman, who had been giving Taylor 'Stage presence' lessons, and taught Taylor how to stop moving and look bored, Taylor had been snorting dandruff from Keith Richard's unconscious head for at least three hours on the sessions that day.
    "He was off the rails. But we all were. I am sure he played at least half that solo with his feet. In those days we thought we could do anything. Too bad we didn't have those go pro cameras then! Whenever Keith passed out on the bathroom floor, which was daily, I would teach Mick how to eliminate unnecessary movement on stage and avoid smiling. Conserve energy! That was my motto, and I was happy to see Mick doing the same. Nothing turned on the girls more than our total lack of interest. It was counterpoint to Jagger's constant dancing, which we always found garish."
    Wyman's expression goes wistful. "I liked jammin' with Mick on that extended solo. A couple times Charlie fell asleep and I had to kick him. We turned the lights off and got naked while playin'. Jammin' was the rage at that time, but most people weren't ready for that advanced level of self indulgence. Sure, the five minute guitar solo had already been developed, but no one had attempted it for over an hour. No one had dared. Okay, I once saw Peter Green hit 9 minutes but he got dizzy, wobbled and had to sit down for the rest of the show. It was embarrassing to see. This wasn't for the old codgers. Mick was only 20 years old. Not even in his prime yet. He was treading fantastic new ground, like the Apollo program. He was also very protective of the minoxidil scale he had developed and would hide behind the amps or leave the stage whenever he played it live, so other guitar players could not see what he was doing and steal it. Of course, when Taylor suggested they put the solo out as a double or even triple album, Keith nicked the double album idea for 'Exile on Main street'. That probably helped Mick's decision to leave the band."
    In 2017, Mick reminisces about the lost tapes. "I honestly don't even remember doing this solo. Good, innit? The minoxidil scale is still one of the best!"

      This is Mick Taylor, young, probably on LSD or amphetamine which is proof once again that drugs open your mind and when your guitar playing blows the mind of guitar player,he loves what is happening and does not want to stop. Musicians get moments like this but you can't create, they just happen randomly

    • @photoslum
      @photoslum 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@klodianberisha9696 if you go to the home page you will see this falls under Mick Taylor tributes. There is a difference in the sound between the backing track sample and guitar. The rest of the stones were not going to sit back and play that precise backing track for 63 minutes! Yes drugs can open your mind, but is not Mick on drugs doing this.

    The ultimate testament to the fact that Mick Taylor was a guitar God, who never got the support that he needed to become a successful solo artist.His playing is definitely way too sophisticated for the Stones, but I am not sure what Rock outfit would have been a good fit for him. Perhaps Hawkwind?

    Hey, Mick Taylor fans! You may not know this, but live music and busking has been banned. I can no longer play in clubs or even the street. My career as a live musician is over. My only income is from my original music and very rare sales of my mail order cassettes. If you enjoyed this jam, please support by downloading some of my original and extended guitar jams on bandcamp. Many of these were recorded while I was in the Stones, and some even during lawsuits to recover my royalties. Huge selection of rock, funk, jazz, ambient, and all instrumental. And no Jagger vocals to mess up the ambience. I make zero from RUclips as I don’t run ads. Let’s keep creativity alive! I also need new strings! thesixmilliondollarguitar.bandcamp.com

    I believe it's Taylor .it's a bit ahead of it's time. But then again so was Taylor he was up there with Hendricks . he's the only one that got away Kieth Richards said one time

    Mick T was one of my earliest influences! After seeing him in "Gimme shelter" i had to have a Gibson SG standard
    but sadly all i could afford was a used cherry SG junior! I traded my Bradley LP and put up a good amount of cash
    for the SG. I hated that guitar! had a real high action and only one p-90 pickup. wound up trading the SG for a
    used Ibanez Lawsuit Black beauty,. I was originally after a Ibanez 59er like Micks burst but they were too much money new.

    More evidence that Mick Taylor was the greatest guitarist to ever play for the Rolling Stones. Kieth Richards is a fantastic song writer, but he never came close to playing lead guitar with this virtuosity.

    this could just be the uploader playing his own homage to taylor for all we know, in which case it sounds like a feverish study of playing style. hey shatnershairpiece, is this you playing?

    • @shatnershairpiece
      @shatnershairpiece  6 лет назад +6

      Dhritiman Sen Yes, it’s me playing, but let people think it’s Taylor if it makes them happy. It’s all a spinal tap joke that few seem to comprehend. Not a “feverish study of playing style”, but my own style.

      Dhritiman Sen Vancouver, Canada. Glad you enjoyed it. Think of this as a social experiment in perception. Had I posted this as myself, I would get zero views and “You suck”, but posted as “Mick Taylor” it is now heard in a much more positive light, because it ‘could’ be Mick Taylor. And since Mick Taylor is brilliant, this lost solo must be too. It is also a joke about the rampant amount of fake ‘lost recordings’ that pop up on RUclips all the time that I am sick of seeing. So, I make a nice little OBVIOUS spinal tap parody and there are still people who either don’t get it, or get offended by this. Had to delete a few comments already, where people act like I stole their baby. One guy yelled "You can't play a note as well as Mick Taylor. Mick Taylor is a gentleman. He would never say these things about Billy Preston.", while others actually ask me if Bill Wyman is playing on the track for the entire hour. I can't make this shit up. I wish I could sell these people a sense of humor or satire. Quite amusing, Most people can not discern fake from real anymore, even when it’s obviously fake from the description. Seriously, the title says "Can't you hear me nickin'' It's a double joke play on KNOCKING, as well as 'Nicky Hopkins', and if you knew what 'nicking' meant in the British vernacular (To steal), which is what I am doing with the loop, you'd get the joke immediately. It's sad I have to explain this.
