    Another little tip we've discovered today is that Ores (diamond, iron, whatever), spawn in the same place every day!! So with the map open, click your mouse wheel in to place a marker for future reference :D

      The treasure spirit also leads you to items above ground as well! I found a amulet hidden in a hollow log

      It's good you make a Guide, but the Problem remains - if you don't Heavily Inform yourself, you will have Big Problems. Wollay needs to Fix this! Then everyone can see how Great this Game is! But otherwise...

    The level up system dissapearing for no reason makes me sad. I don't like the idea of that.

      I think it was removed because gameplay would become stale after a certain level. That was the problem with alpha imo. And in a level type situation new content needs to be consistently added to make higher levels fun to play still. With this system you don't run into that issue. Wollay would just add content and not have to worry about what level players are at. I personally enjoy the new system but I do think more content still needs to be added and the new system needs some tweaks to feel rewarding for players. One thing that would be cool is a way to get new abilities that players could swap out so players could really set up their play styles how they want and have a skill build that suits them best for the class they love to play

      I agree with you. But at the same time it's a massive part of the game that people loved.
      Not only that. But now when you leave the zone you're in. It's the same as pressing "New Game" button. It gets frustrating.
      I hope the dev will make a few changes to the whole "zone" thing at least. The current way the game is. It feels like there's no progression.

      Gruuno yeah I mean the progression is there but works differently the idea being you gain these regions. But I agree with you that it needs adjustment to feel less punishing. And the post on the subreddit about horizontal progression has some amazing suggestions and explains the problems cube world currently faces really well. If you haven't read it I highly suggest reading it. The game is a good start but still has a ways to go imo. Wollay did say he still wants to add a lot so I'm satisfied right now. And I only bought alpha to support development, so wherever it goes is fine for me even if I don't end up liking the final product.

      The Artifacts system would be way better than levelling system if it would add permament health boosts, damage boosts, perhaps some special stuff such as increased critical strike chance when X and so on. This would add a layer of permament progression that would work along with gear progression, thus nerfing region lock completely.

      I think the guild wars 2 zone system would work with this game where each zone has a max level so if your level 60 and you enter a level 30 zone it just lowers your stats to 30 to balance things out instead of 1 hitting everything.

      Xander vM well I’d like a bigger lamp size Bc night is pretty lame and some dungeons are super dark, but not as a reward for hours of grinding

      Xander vM I agree with this as well I think making artifacts a bit more rewarding would go a long way for frustrated players.

    I don’t get the regional lock thing, what’s the point of getting legendary and powerful gear if it’s useless in other regions? They should have done gear based on player level like every other rpg game.

      if you get gear with a plus sign next to it you're able to take it over to the next region

      @@magistrateaeph yeah up until january of this year it worked based on an xp system just like everything else. He added this change less than a year before full releasing a game lmfao and it def shows

      Yeah, I miss the expanding gear and enemy progression, instead of losing most of my stuff whenever I go somewhere new.

      Maybe I'm in the minority that quite likes the new system. I think with a few little tweaks it could please a lot more people.
      Increasing the amount of + items is definitely a good way to start. Maybe even granting people a charm that can make one gear piece + at the end of each zone would be a nice gesture oooooor all player made gear is usable everywhere (given that resources are minimal and crafting costs are high)
      I'm still waiting for Monday to decide how I feel about everything. I'm hoping Wollay's held back some cool features for 1.0

      @@martyn It's totally fair, it's a more Roguelike sort of system, but I am just not a fan of roguelike systems, I much prefer building myself up over long periods of time, and seeing my progression, the main reason I'm not a fan is just that i don't get that same feeling of progression.
      Neither are bad systems, it's just they are very different in their approach and style of play

      I won't deny that there are definite improvements over the alpha. There's a lot more to do, it's easier to _find_ the stuff to do (with talking to NPCs, although it'd be nice if there was an indicator for NPCs that have something new to say. Maybe that'll come later though), and the game just feels more full in general.
      I just have a big thing against grind in games, or at least unfulfilling grind. Grind can be fine if the reward feels good enough, but moving 10 steps forward and 9 steps back every time I go somewhere new doesn't feel fulfilling to me, and that's what the game feels like to me right now.

      @@martyn you are not in the minority bud... what you hear all around are the loud minority that either don't like the system despite trying to like it or more often than not people who simply played 2-3 hours and then called it quit without even bothering themselves learning the new system, most streamers and people I've watched and talked to that were skeptical about the new system have all grown to like it eventually, peeps like Gothalion, You, Broman etc. It's just super different and most people don't like what's not familiar, give them a week or two and they'll get used to it.

    I'm pretty excited to play the game! But, I'm really not a fan of the zone specific gear stuff... I guess I'll wait to test it out.

      He would need to make it super difficult to gain good gear if he allowed us to keep our gear. Within about 8 hours you will have completed the game and it will just be mind numbing collection with no grind factor. I do agree that it's infuriating to have to restart but finding some + gear assists in the grind. Plus if you want a quick start play solo and invite friends later the game gets more difficult with more players I'm pretty sure.

      Hmm now that I watch this, I feel a bit better about the system. It feels akin to the elemental system but instead of elemental it is zone specific. Similar to how approaching a hot zone you would need a better fire armor, you would need the armor of the land. I think that's what wolly tried to capture. I love that kind of system.

      I think this system will be refined after all the feed back and a few months I’m not too worried about it tbh. I’ve been having a lot of fun with the current system, but I also understand the criticisms players are having for the game.

    I really dislike the zone specific items. It makes finding good gear very underwhelming, because you'll instantly know that you can only use the stuff in the zone you're currently in. I actually dislike it so much that i don't know if i'll be playing it. One of the things i loved in the alpha was exploring across all the regions and combine all the gear i found around the world. Takes away the whole experience for me

      But if that was not added you will one use one type of gear that you like.And wont give any chance to other weapons

      i like the concept for specialty items, legionaries, or quest balancers as a gimmick that could end up being an interesting mechanic, but there needs to be a universal item system

      Theres a way to star an item to bring it to other zones aswell with no stat loss

      the only thing that matters is what I as a player wants to do. If I decide to only use one type of gear then that’s what I find most fun to do. The game shouldn’t force u to do something u don’t want to do like having to try new gear when you are finding enjoyment from one kind

    i remember watching you play this game in 2013, and was talking about cube world with a friend and looked up your old cube world videos to show them and saw this. your voice reminds me of the days i used to spend after having raced home from school, devouring your ni no kuni and cube world videos and the christmas ADVENTure vids. i'm glad to see you're still making content!!! cant wait to see your cube world guides/videos, thanks for being a cornerstone of my childhood :]

    Also when you defeat a circle of power boss mob, you get an “Eternal Ember” and if you put it in the little fire pit within the circle, your power will increase for that zone

      What power exactly? Ive got 4x on that buff but i still havent noticed anything..the same with those mana pump debuff.

      @@ennyuiui I assume it may have something to do with 1.0 release. I'm not sure but it feels like the player is supposed to receive a damage buff with the eternal ember (e.g a 10% rise in damage regardless of weapon for that zone for each one dealt with) and the mena pump debuff seems as though there would be less mana going around for the enemies to tap into so get that same 10% etc. but as less damage regardless of weapon. Think of them like beacons and lingering potions of weakness in minecraft, a beacon gives buffs for a certain radius (zone) and once a weakness pot is thrown mobs do less damage and are weaker.
      This is all just speculation and means nothing at this point (we should know on Monday) :)

      Pascal Stratigis 10 damage is pretty decent the highest damag I've seen for weapons so far is 130 I think

    I'm still not a massive fan of the new progression system, but this has definitely helped me understand it a bit more. Going to clear a couple of zones and see how I feel after that.

      Quickest zones to complete are water ones as everything important spawns on land

    1:27 Shift isn't on all classes sprinting. It's more like an additional proffession utility skill e.g. Assasins and Snipers uses it for stealth, Ninjas and Scouts use it for Sprinting, and Mages float with it :D

    Something else I've found useful in preparing to enter a new zone/biome is standing at the border or venturing in a little to aggro something, then hop back across into where I have all my abilities. If you kill things from other zones in your zone, they still drop loot exclusive to their zone and can give a good headstart.

    I like the zone specific gear, makes the game more challenging and not as stale to advance. The game is no where near done too so in the future there could be some type of forgery or upgrade system that can make your gear work in multiple zones.
    For example: grassland gear works in all grassland biomes, same with ocean and dark lands.

    this is very comprehensive! my hopes they change the key items situation. I didn't know about the plus icons next to certain items which means, after a long enough time playing, you should be able to collect five star plus gear you can use forever so I'm not as mad about restarting each zone now as I was originally. some tweaks absolutely need to be made but I love cube world just as much as I did for alpha. huge fan.

      The plus gear is only for the surrounding areas, I had a fivestar ring so its possible to get max rarity plus gear but its not worth it to grind it.
      Blue-Purple plus weapons are enough to easily clear a map as you can find the non-plus gear in the new map by killing tons of blue-purple mobs.

    Really helpful video. I'm not able to play the beta so I don't know much about gameplay. What I've heard has kinda given me mixed feelings but I think this game will still be fun and it will grow eventually.

    Great that you are spreading information, Cube world doesn't hold your hand it seems which can be far too frustrating. The game has its flaws sure, but just a bit of patience and knowledge can make you either start to find some good sides or even developing further criticism beyond "i don't like this" and "where are the alpha mechanics". Something sad is that there are people using that one clip of you getting a lackluster artifact as justification to hack on the game.

    A very useful and overlooked feature of the M 'large map' mode: in the lower left corner is the name of the current region/zone and one or two arrows which allows you to switch which region/zone the map is centered on. This is VERY USEFUL if you end up thousands of kilometers away from your starting area by flying to someone else's area in multiplayer and you want to warp back to a shrine in your original spawn location. Just click those arrows until the region you spawned in shows up, then click one of the blue shrine dots to warp there.

    A "circle of power" should spawn in every zone. Defeating the boss monster there will always drop an "eternal ember," which can then be placed onto a nearby fire cauldron. Doing so will then "increase your power within this zone," whatever that all entails (so far the only benefit I've noticed is dramatically increased stamina regeneration).

    Small side note for ablities; if you press the Dodge key while stationary (not moving aside from the camera) your character does a special ability as well.

    I bought the alpha back in 2013 and haven't played it since. Thanks for making this positive review. It made me retrieve my old account and now I have installed the game through steam. However, it crashes and I look forward to see what's going to happen.

    Note that space while climbing will make you do a jump roll thing, and even with the climbing spikes it will drop your stamina to 0, only really useful before the spikes but it can get over that last bit of wall if you don’t have the spikes yet

    i feel like the major problem with the new system is that you lose your stuff on new zone entry. in my opinion this completely discourages the exploration that i loved in the alpha. everything else seems brilliant

    You can have the orange dot appear at any point in the lore, higher percentages do increase the chance of it appearing. This can also mean that lore can reveal artifact locations from other regions in the 'Kingdom'. Speaking of 'Kingdoms', + items work anywhere in the current 'Kingdom', not just adjacent regions.

    I like the zone locked gear, it makes it so that you can relive the nice momments of character progression many times while still getting permanent upgrades sometimes. These permanent things just need to be more interesting and it'll probably be worth it. I like that they're trying something unique.

      Game is still in development, I would assume that sometime in the future you could prestige your gear or increase the effect of it in other zones.

      Remember that it took him 6 years to degrade.
      Remember the "ALL YOU HAD TO DO IS TO FOLLOW THE DAMN TRAIN".
      In this case, it is: "ALL YOU HAD TO DO WALLY IS TO GIVE MORE SKILLS AND MORE MISSIONS AND MORE EQUIPMENT".

Yes, I do agree, the game should have many more improvements and polishes, but this game was made by two people, both of which are constantly busy with other stuff. Being angry or impatient with Wollay isn't going to make the game better - or anything for that matter. In fact, it's only going to make him feel worse.     Best Guide so far. Wollay just needs to improve the learining curve. It helped a lot, that he let's new players start in near a village and enemies have now a star rating, so it is more obvious compared to only having a color. Also, you can just hit E to speak with an NPC and go to the next one. The Markers will appear on the map if either way.

    Quick correction to something said in the video. Green healthbars don't always mean that the creature is tamable, just that it is neutral and won't attack unless provoked. There are also creatures with red healthbars that can be tamed like Plain Runners and Slimes, as well as blue healthbar animals around towns.

    very well informed i am just hoping for an understanding as to why zones take away all your travel ability i'd be fine with having my equipment being weaker for each new traveled zones >.> but why must my ability to get around be hindered to increase game length? or is it to hide short comings that will be fixed/ maybed added onto later down the line through updates?

    Middle click also gives you another attack/ability. You have to be standing still and at full stamina to use it though.

    I've been following Wollay since the very start and knowing him, he lacks a lot of Game design knowledge to be able to fully fix the game. He tends to be a perfectionist but doesn't quite get there and then commits to a few bad decisions. Shame how an excelent coder made so many simple rookie game dev mistakes :(
    Well. Or so that would be with old Wollay. Perhaps he can now do a lot more. I mean, he did release the game and it is still fun. Even if it has some issues.
    Anyway, here's my take on how to make the game better:
    - Don't make items Region specific. Maybe make them weaker, OR BETTER. Make items and monsters stronger on all surrounding areas. Items are also better, and artifacts give passive buffs to damage and defenses and not just speed.
    -Make Cubes more common, bring back Spirit cubes (Which was the thing that was removed), Make upgraded weapons a better fit, because as they are now, there's almost no point in upgrading.
    -Make the Upgrade system better. Perhaps instead of the previous idea, just changing the concept all together. Weapons can be upgraded with blocks. Rarity still exists, but tiers can improve them even farther all the way up to +10. Making weapons more useful, costumizable, and each + tier gives more significant buffs. After +10 all you get are minor buffs and its mostly for cosmetic.
    -Make more unique Dungeons for late game (The way the game is, after you've seen one of each and done them all, you most likely will have no end game at all to enjoy).
    -A few more abilities to make each class more interesting to play (I don't think there should be too many, but just a simple skill tree with simple abilities. Gain them from Books, masters or quests)
    Those are just a few of my ideas on how to make it better, but all of these are just my vision. We all could try different things so take this however you wish :p Ultimately I just want the game to be fun for all of us.

    Just a small thing for people that play Warriors :
    hitting enemies gives you a chance to go into enrage which increases your attackspeed, damage (?) and gives you passive Lifesteal on damage you deal.

    I think you forgot one important thing: the combo system
    each succesfull hit (not super sure on that) increases the hit counter which straightly increases your damage output by a far amount the higher it gets, but it stops at about 20-30 when it also changes color to blue (the hit counter)

    -Green health does NOT mean tameable. it just means it won't attack on sight. You can tame hostile enemies!
    -4 books of crafting: you forgot epic crafting.
    -Towns only give you better items if you save supplier gnomes. (I know you mentioned it) but I'd add that the rarity is based on how many gnomes you save, NOT the difficulty of the gnome
    -Mana Pump: more of these around mean your mp regen is reduced (I had 4 in one zone, and the regen was VERY slow).
    -The area with a legendary you showed and a rock surrounded by other rocks is a circle of power. defeating this enemy and completing the objective increases your power whilst in the zone.

    loved the video but just a lil tweak about the lore and artifact hunting , once u complete 100% lore of a group then all the artifacts corresponding to that group get revealed no matter what zone they’re in, so if u got 100% bloodaxe cult lore then you’ll see every bloodaxe cult artifact dungeon appear on the map regardless of zone

    The Mana Pumps take away 10% of your mana regeneration per Pump in the Zone. The violet Icon on the top left is a debuff. You can see it in your stats when you press B.

    A skull icon can also mean a number of things, such as a group enemies with a legendary boss, or a single legendary boss. I assume it just means a 5 star boss mob encounter of some kind.

    Help! I was only able to grab the special items which doesn't involve killing ennemies (boat, hang glider...). But I can't do any skill book or Gnome saving quest, even the white labeled one. I can't even defeat a lonely white labeled enemy. He just zapps me with his magic laser and I die in no time. I don't get it.
    Isucceded to lure one away from his rock and glide on top of trees to shoot him with my crappy bow while he can't reach me. But he takes life potion when his health goes below halfway. And I don't deal enough damage to kill it before he kills me if I go nearby. I can't any new weapon anywhere. i travelled all around the zone. What can I do?

    I had so much fun playing Cube World back when the Alpha originally launched. I truly want this game to be amazing, but I'm very leery of these new changes. I honestly don't mind the zone-locked equipment, but the persistent upgrades you can take with you to other zones (gear, skills, artifacts, etc) need to be...better.

    How to get good gear quickly:
    Team up with some friends (or alone) find a 4-5 star monster and lure it to a nearby shrine of life: here you just start trying to kill the monster, you’ll die all the time but since you have the shrine you get right back in the fight. It’ll take some time to kill each powerful monster, but eventually you’ll get a good piece of armor/weapon, letting you continue the cycle even more effeciently until you’re fully geared up

    Because of the negativity my hype went from 100 to 50
    But now it is back to 90
    The region locking could have been done better but i don't mind the difficulty, dark souls and outward are both two of my favorite rpg's and they are difficult.
    But it works with trial and error. But do you think it is fun? Cube world i mean.

      There is no difficulty, once you get a good item the game becomes trivial. Then you lose the item in a different region. This game has a strange difficulty curve - you're either useless or OP.
      No skill trees and useless artifacts. The enemies don't do anything new as you progress. Lame.
