As time goes on and bands "mess" with their songs when live, they rarely sound better than the original. Not this time. 😅I’ve heard several versions of this song over the years, but this is probably the best. Brilliant.

OMG, for the first time ever I get to understand what he means by the Sun Always Shines on TV. I grew up speaking Spanish and Crucian (St. Croix - West Indian Creole) and learned English along the way. Always wondered what the heck he meant by the sun shinning on the television. Was he getting sun rays coming through his apartment window and could not see his television. LOL. Now I get it though, things are not always as happy as they appear on television, life can suck and be miserable and lonely. This makes the song even more beautiful now.

What's so heartbreaking about this is the contrast of the lyric - "touch me...hold me" - with the physical distance between Ingrid and Morten. They never look at each other. There are no cheesy, amateur histrionics, two bad actors mooning over one another with false adoration, and the effect is stunning. The presentation of two lonely people issuing a plea into the night: their need real, their ache without relief. Indeed, life is not like they show it on TV. I, like a lot of people, enjoyed/danced to A-ha back in the day, but these recent recastings of their songs are superior to the 80's stuff. The music and the men who make it have matured to the benefit of all of us. Well done.

This really has Morten's voice stronger in a very long time! It almost sounds like when he was back in his prime days. Love how clear, crisp and perfect it is. I really love how their voices complements eachother during the chorus..when he joins in "believe me..."...sooo beautiful!

Easily my favorite a-ha song. Growing up with this band in America, where they were largely considered a one-hit band, I considered it a gift to live in a time when we bought albums and listen to a bands "works" and got to appreciate the songs that appealed to us. This was one among many from this band that hit me right in the soul. I'll always love a-ha.

Hunting High And Low was my very first cassette which I got from my Nana on my 12th birthday to go with the Walkman my parents gave me. I always preferred this song to 'Take On Me'-- the tension in the opening and that huge synth chorus... a masterpiece. This version takes it to another level entirely with the piano and strings and a duet between Morten and Ingrid... just incredible. Thanks a-ha!

This has turned out to be one of the best performances I've ever listened to. Just pure talent and feeling. This whole set is a godsend and this is one of the brightest highlights.
Watching this series of reworked classics, only enforces how fantastically well written these songs are . Yes they are different to the 1980’s high tempo electric sounds, but none the worse for being acoustic, excellent they are 👍

I remember reading a number of years ago that this was the perfect pop song...from a compositional point of view (written by a classical music critic). I have always believed they were right in that view.

They were always amazing…it was the music industry and music critics who wrote them off as just another 80s disposable pop band. They wrote amazing original songs with deep and interesting lyrics which still sound great 40 years later, in either new or old incarnations!

Growing up with this band in America, where they were largely considered a one-hit band, I considered it a gift to live in a time when we bought albums and listen to a bands "works" and got to appreciate the songs that appealed to us. This was one among many from this band that hit me right in the soul. I'll always love a-ha.

Tears are running down my face while listening to this. I moved to Norway first in 2009. I came back to Germany 2012. Since then, I couldn't forget, I travel up as much as I can, I speak Norwegian fluently. I was searching for something over all these years, and then I just heard this song while on the car, the same old song. I had to pull over to the side. So many pictures and memories. It's breaking my heart.

This is the song (the original version) that brought me back to a-ha. Or I should say brought them back to me. I heard it in the car a few months ago and I thought, "You know, they really had some great songs" When I got home that day, I went straight to RUclips looking for some of their old songs that I remembered from back in the day. Being in the US, I thought they were long gone but needless to say I was shocked (and Very happy) to start seeing all these newer things from them, It started me on my current quest to find everything I can from them.

Hunting High And Low was my very first cassette which I got from my Nana on my 12th birthday to go with the Walkman my parents gave me. I always preferred this song to 'Take On Me'-- the tension in the opening and that huge synth chorus... a masterpiece. This version takes it to another level entirely with the piano and strings and a duet between Morten and Ingrid... just incredible. Thanks a-ha!
I love many of their songs more than Take on Me. I like to look at it as Take on Me got them in the door and noticed. The world was blessed with all the amazing gifts of songs that followed. ❤

Эта песня у меня связана с хорошим периодом моей жизни...Сказать за один раз, что A-ha значат для меня, невозможно. Когда слушаешь песни, какие бы то ни было, всегда в голове возникают какие-то образы. Причём они совершенно не обязательно соответствуют содержанию песни.Кроме того, песни A-ha невероятно живы и реалистичны. Редкая группа, у которой мне нравятся почти все песни!
Думаю, самые приятные моменты в моей жизни связаны именно с музыкой этого норвежского трио.
Их песни рождают чувство успокоения и умиротворения. Красивые мелодии, замечательный, чувственный вокал Мортена Харкета, глубокие тексты - все способствует любви к этому норвежскому трио, которое год от года не стареет, а становится только лучше.

This is absolutely amazing. Did they reinvent themselves? Or did music we think was simply iconic 80s music video fodder simply hold up much better than anyone expected. This is fantastic!
They were always great and had lots of musical diversity and depth...they have so many amazing songs through the years and it was impressive to this unplugged of some of their biggest hits.
They were always amazing…it was the music industry and music critics who wrote them off as just another 80s disposable pop band. They wrote amazing original songs with deep and interesting lyrics which still sound great 40 years later, in either new or old incarnations!
