Hi Sean, 2 weeks after the storm I have power and drinkable city water. it's a good feeling. We still have thousands with no place to work or live because everything they own was destroyed by hurricane Ian. We still have many people without power and water but there being rescued and helped. The Army helicopters fly over my house daily with supplies and medical personal. So things are getting better and we pray for everyone to get through this. Thanks for your kind words, Love from the USA and I am enjoying DCT again.
@@davidlawson4159 I'm happy to hear that things are improving for you, it's such a difficult and challenging time for so many but some of the stories I've heard of people coming together to help warms the heart. Stay strong... 🙏
How do we hear more of this talented young man? ❤
@@debrarippentrop5094 I will be catching up with him soon to make more. You can find his social media in the description of the video 🙏
This version is beautiful
This slower version leaves the lyrics bare to reveal their true meaning. Amazing how manic the 80s were to mask how deep this song truly is.
Some of it is age too....'gone in a day or two' hits a LOT harder now than in 85.
So right!
Not so much manic as insanely amazing.
Good point man. Agreed.
80's weren't necessarily manic.. it depends on the person what's going on in his life at any time of the age
Good take on this song though 👍
Took me back to watching MTV with my girlfriend, who became my fiancé, who became my wife, who became the mother of my 3 kids and became the Nana of my 3 grandchildren. This is such a beautiful little piece of music by this young man. Glad I got to see this.
🙏😇
Magnifique interprétation et commentaire qui me renvoient à tant de souvenirs heureux, d' un autre Monde. Le temps d'Avant.
Great story
This is all someone needs to hear today
Proud and lucky man Tim. Live long in happiness & health.
This song always brings me back to my growing years in the 80s. Such happy memories. Hey Gen X people, we are the best generation.
Agreed. Simpler times man..
We certainly are. We Rock🤣❤🇦🇺
I once asked my parents when they were in their 70s if they felt their age or young at heart and age was relative. Their answer was the latter. My father is now gone; I'm 57. This version of this song brings a tear to my eye. The memories are happy but man, it was a time and decade that will never return. I miss them. I'm not afraid of aging or even dying, but the melancholy is there.
I’m afraid we’re the last generation to appreciate our roots and have a sense of common decency for each other. Now we’re all separated by one thing or another. I’m not speaking for everyone, just my observations here in SoCal.
@@roxtar38Nice .. Thanks for sharing
There is so much talent out there that we never get to hear because it isn't "commercial". The best musical performances you'll ever hear will not be on the radio!
This is so true.
True, but this song was on the radio plenty. A-ha did a slow version as well.
@@-PURPLE-HEAD I meant you won't hear most of these great talented musicians on the radio. I'm not referring to the songs they are covering.
@@spitzer1113would you prefer covers on the radio, rather than the original artists?
i don't even know anyone who listens to the radio anymore, I occasionally do on a long road trip but not like i did years ago. There is great talent out there but the music industry no longer promotes talent, it promotes grabbing attention. Something like this demands you actually listen to it.
For those that don’t know, this is essentially the arrangement Morten Harket uses these days. Stunningly beautiful and gives us, essentially, a whole new song.
Exactly
Morten also did the slower version on the Masked Singer UK. i can't believe that the judges couldn't figure out who he was
Beautifully angelic
I think you have aptly, and eloquently, summed up the thoughts of many with your observation "... essentially, a whole new song." In my opinion, Mr. Harket has accomplished, exquisitely, that very thing.
2:51 2:53
And suddenly time slowed down, as I was transported back 30 years into my college days listening to this on tape!
Me too
And they didn't include the lyrics. 😒 We were all singing funky lyrics, I'm sure. 🤣
Yep... right back to college memories
😀❤️👍🏼
I’m 55 and I love this slowed down version to take in the lyrics that are precious, profound and beautiful 💖 Excellent and good on this talented young man for a beautiful delivery.
A man ain't supposed to cry, but DAMN IT...this great musician brought a tear to my eye.
Amazing all the people just strolling by without notice meanwhile this young man is giving us a version of this song we all need!! Great job young man❤️❤️👌🏽
I noticed that. This was beautiful
Fabulous. I hope folks realize how hard it is to finger pick that and sing at the same time with that level of vocal proficiency. Great rendition of an amazing song.
SO beautiful voice❤ BRAVO❤
Good that you pointed this performer out. Appreciate his talent.
That’s exactly the first thing I thought.
It isn't that hard.
It’s electric and he has effect pedals on his mic and guitar.. it’s not as good as you think..
I’m sad that people who walk don’t even look at this magnificent singer.
Poor "stressed" people.
I think too!🙁
Maybe people that have tough lives, dont want to hear a happy song reduced to a depressing crawl....
this
They are secret aliens
This is Ireland, everyone can sing!
Easily the best version I’ve ever heard, 38 years of listening to this song. David is mesmerising. Dude needs to get noticed!! More of him please 🙌😍🔊🇮🇪
Escute o morten harket, cantado.
You should listen to A-ha do this version. As good as this kid is, they’re even better.
@@MrBennylargo lol
@@rfcalm I don’t get it? In addition to the 80s version, they also perform this one. And they are fantastic
Beautiful , just beautiful. How can people just walk on by and not be moved by this beautiful young mans singing enough to stop and listen?? He’s phenomenal!! Whoever you are , wherever you are keep pursuing this wonderful gift you have!!
He has a beautiful voice ❤
Exactly what I was thinking watching this
Yes, we miss the small moments of true beauty this realm has to offer many times... maybe time to slow down and find joy wherever it presents itself.❤
I say the same thing often when listening to street singers. How do people just walk by it happens so often. This young man's voice is so beautiful! Even if you are in a hurry just his voice should stop you and give you goosebumps!
Everything is moving. Everything is moved.
You distact yourself with should and stop listening.
Or maybe you are part of the music too.
I don't know.😅
I love how the girl nursing the coffee in the background gets pulled in.
One in ten have the ear and musical sensitivity to realise what they are hearing. Most dont notice.
she sheds a tear or two
Beautiful rendition. Clearly the lady in the background knew something great was coming. She stopped what she was doing immediately and just enjoyed the beauty of your playing and singing
I wouldn't have wanted to miss this, either
prob his girl dah...
And notice how she has no selfphone, just coffee.
Weird how different people have different "ears" for music. I like tori Amos and my wife thinks she sounds like a dying cat. LOL
Rumour has it the girl became pregnant after the first chorus
Great job young man. He has a lovely voice. Why is he having to be busking? He needs to be recognized. Moved me to tears. American, but been to Dublin. Beautiful city and people.
I would not be able to just walk on by while this young man is singing! Absolutely beautiful guitar playing and a stunning voice. Thank you for sharing your amazing gift with us.
they were fools.......how could they not STOP...?????
I loved A-ha’s acoustic version of Take on Me, and this young man definitely does it justice here.
Morten is a tough act to follow 😊
I love acoustic!!!
Yes, there aren't many singers with the vocal quality Morten posseses. Some do a good job, like this young man but Morten evokes so much feeling with his singing that is very hard to compete with him. The guy is unique in his singing.
@@roden70 Absolutely, Morten is unique and nobody else sounds like him either in tone or range. Too many performers are just bland and overuse auto tune now, which is very sad.
Morten is one of a few singers who have a unique voice or vocal range. In pop/rock there’s Bono, Johnny Cash, Elvis, George Michael or the master of them all, Freddie Mercury. I’m not knowledgeable about opera, but the notes those Tenors can hit is phenomenal.
I’m a baritone who can hit a decent falsetto, but I’ve never, ever been able to to reach Morten’s “in a day” top note from Take on Me’s chorus. I always end up sounding like a cat being strangled 😂
I will forever be jealous of him.
@@ladyesther That’s when you really get to appreciate a singer’s voice and a band’s ability to change their sound. Acoustic is a real challenge .
It's so nice to see the young generation let us relive the old classics 👍 this is a great rendition , well done David 👏
This isn't his version Ah Ha did this version and it was used in a movie he's only doing their version of it
Don't encourage them! They're soft, and not worth the effort. Damn gen-whatevers.
Because, unfortunately, todays music isn’t good. Good job by this young man with this song which is not easy to sing.
I grew up with A-ha and this slow version sounds fantastic. By the way I am familiar with Grafton Street for street artists 😂
My son is 16: His tastes run from Pink Floyd and Lynyrd Skynyrd to Nirvana, Metallica, and some more modern stuff. A while back he brought his guitar to me and wanted me to teach him how to play Eruption lol. I can’t even understand how Ed did that, let alone teach it; I’m just a casual strummer. But I guess he’s not alone in appreciating older music. But then I grew up on Richie Valens, Buddy Holly, Elvis, and others along with CCR and Mommas and the Papas lol. My mom refused to let me listen to anything but oldies and country gospel because everything else was “The Devil”. I ended up listening to what I wanted as a teenager but I still enjoy those oldies. Maybe that passed onto my son a bit, but his friends all enjoy older music too so who knows
Stripped down like this ,I didn't realise how beautiful the lyrics are,
So Needless to say
I'm odds and ends
That's me
I'm stumbling away,
I'm slowly learning that's life's ok just
Say after me,
It's no better to be safe than sorry
🥺🥺😆
I agree. In the original I could only make out a few.
FOOLS JUST WALKING BY,those people passing by had no idea the gift they were given😒................that was gorgeous.❤❤❤
The lady in the back understood
Sleepwalking
I was just thinking the same
Sure got the attention of the girl in the background. I grew up in the 80's . I liked and enjoyed this version, but I especially liked that it took me back to the 80's where I find myself most of the time. I am glad that the new generation are playing the songs of our past generation and also pass it on to the following generation so that all songs continue to live until the end of time. Great job David.
Good words
Me too ditto!!
Remember when MTV first got started? I loved this song and video, one of many, many favorites. Miss those 'simpler' times.💙💯
@@shannon3944 Yes, I miss the 80ies to!🤗 Good music, good movies. Kids enjoying the outdoors and being able to enjoy their innocence. The true life before all the social media pressure, indoor gaming and fake realities. When random people used to talk to each other, in the bus, on the train,...looking at each other and smiling. 😊🌸Spontane interactions that made you think about other people and their life and opinions. A healthy and fun learning proces. I'm so happy that I grew up like that and still enjoy those encounters 😃...but they are becoming rare.
It always amazes me when I watch things like this.... Very few stop to watch and listen. His voice would stop me in my tracks.
Yep! I was surprised so few were “stopped in their tracks”…
If I stopped to listen I would stand behind the guy with the camera, and I guess I'm not the only one.
IKR
You know they say “Timing is everything.” Just not the time for all of those walkers to attend.
If you stopped for every great busker in Dublin you wouldn't make to Coppers before last call.
Your version is hauntingly peaceful and angelic. You are very talented. Thank You. Keep playing and sharing your gift.
There's not many people who can take this song and sing it in such a way that I'm sure Morten Harkett would himself stop and be entranced by. This young fella has done just that. Morten and A-ha would love it! As a child of the 80s i am so happy that this song has been given a new lease of life.
A lot of people don't realize that even though you know how to play, what balls it takes to perform live with the chance that nobody will like you. You've got "it" and I envy you for that.
New sub. Gravity keeps us here but Music makes the world 'round, Keep it up.
YES!!!
Take on Me by A-Ha is my absolute favorite song of all time. This is a beautiful rendition and I approve and endorse this version. ❤
Stunningly beautiful…
He is awesome-and looks like he has an admirer-lady in the background.😃
Oh my...what a wonderful rendition full of emotion and passion👌...the slow version is better than the original...great!!! Very well done David 👏👏👏 thank you so much🙏
🎸💙☘🕊💚🕊☘💙🎸
Wow! What an amazing talent! Great job, David. I loved your rendition of this beautiful song. ❤
🙏😇
Regardless of the great singing I was just mesmerised by his guitar playing 👏🏻👍🏻🍻🥃🏴
Absolutely incredible, beautiful take on this magnificent song!
A new voice rings out in the streets of Dublin...woooow and then immediately with such a stunning version of "Take on me", great job David.
As a 80’s music freak, I’ve heard Morten Haarkit (spelt wrong, my bad) do the slow version of this, n this is brilliant 💙💙💙🇬🇧🇬🇧
Amazing Rendition! The sensitivity in the high notes combined with the handsome lows are hard to achieve for any singer, Seriously well done.
this song has never been this beautiful. it brings tears to one's heart.
Like an echo from the past this guy sings flawlessly the song you remember in a fast life. ❤
playing this slow brings a whole another dimension to the song! love it!
What a sad state of the world when people can't take a few minutes to listen to such a talented singer/ guitar player and such a beautiful song😞
good thing people have better things to do than waste time listening to music
@@drunktrump5209 sorry you feel that way your missing out on the beauty of life!
@@robert_sovitsky there is lots of beauty in life, it's hard to miss it no matter what you are doing.
Art isn't made for everyone 🤷🏼♀️
Let's feel blessed for experiencing this...
Thank you to this wonderful artist 🎶🍀✨🥰
I've never processed the lyrics for this sonf. This was the first time that I've actually truly "heard" them. So lovely. Wonderful take.
Well doggoneit! Pardon me for a moment or two as I pick my jaw up from the floor and put it back in place. Honestly, I was not expecting David to sound like a seasoned, world famous, professional performer. However, that's exactly what I heard. His vocals are amazing and his guitar playing is top notch. His rendition of Take on Me was remarkable. It's a great mid 1980s song. Well done, David!
Thanks Sean, for featuring David on DCT. I hope to see more of him in the future.
He is incredibly talented. Beautiful and original cover.
What a wonderful version!!!🥰 ❤❤❤
Impressive. Great arraignment. Hope to see a lot more of this musician.
Absolutely gorgeous so beautiful so extremely talented ..amazing thanku so much love an God bless always x
All I can think about during that intro:
"Hey Hey I saved the world today
Everybody's happy now
The bad thing's gone away
And everybody's happy now
The good thing's here to stay
Please let it stay"
The vocals are what makes this so remarkable. Amazing!
For sure. Not a bad guitar either.
Absolutely beautiful. What a pure clear voice. Wonderful! 👍
oh my this makes me feel my age.david has a lovely clear voice. its harder to sing slowly and maintain a standard. beautiful.welcome.
Oh my goodness, that’s really beautiful. This is also the first time I’ve caught all the words.
The words are bittersweet. All about taking risks because life is short and will be over in a day or two.
He didn't wake up that day to cover this song, he woke up to take over. I can't believe an acoustic version of this song can be this good, out in the open. TU!
truly
truly
That was a brilliant rendition. I would say David has a great future on Grafton Street & beyond with performances like that. A great introduction Sean. Thanks for posting.
I used to frequent a little club in central Wisconsin that hosted the most fantastic singer/songwriters. I once saw a young guy from Minnesota do what I consider the absolute best version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. He slowed it down just as David did here. It was right after a break and as he started the place was just a bit noisy but after about a minute you could hear a pin drop in the place. It literally gave me goose bumps! I really appreciate creative artists like this that can take a classic tune and completely change the feel of the song....for the better!
Amazing performance. What a talent!
All I can say is, WOW!!! What a beautiful song, and a beautiful voice! You are soo gifted, like an Angel of GOD singing it!! So very touching and spiritual to me! Thank You, for You, and the lovely talent that you bring to us all!! Peace and Blessings My Brother!!! XX. 🙏🙏
🙏😇
Ironically, today is national angel day and I just saw one 😇🕊 absolutely breathtaking!
OMG. That was Amazing. DCT. Never knew , such so talented people out there. ❤. Amazing David
Hi David welcome to Grafton Street you definitely belong there beautiful rendition and your vocals are amazing keep coming back thanks Sean you know when they are good thanks for uploading Sean cheers
"in a day or two"
I never ever ever knew those were the lyrics!!!! I always thought it was "and I'll turn on too" lol which makes no sense. This guy is super talented
🙏😎
What amazes me everyone that just walks by. I’d be standing there in awe!
Wasn't going to click, glad I did!! Absolutely nailed it!!!!! By far the best version of that song.
What an amazing voice and addition to Grafton Street ~ so good 👌 a big welcome to you David ~ your going to fit in just fine 👏👏👏💚💚☘️☘️
Coffee lady is her own story.
Cheers to you. Wherever you are.
Magic. The slower versions of this song - including A-has - are always more beautiful and I think realise the song better x
This is a slower sound of the song..very Nice , David 👏💚😍
Now that's what I call hitting the ground running! 👏 👏 I was blown away from the first note. 👍 That was a fantastic DCT debut David! Really well done. 👏 👏 👏 🌟
Its fascinating how many folks are walking by enjoying their lives, and here we are enjoying this moment they're passing by. Life is incredible.
I would pay to see this young man. Excellent!
I LOVE how you slowed it down! It made it SO much more emotional! Welcome to DCT DAVID!!!!!!
I hate slowed down versions of songs
He didn't slow it down the original artist made this version he's just doing their slowed down version
Beautiful 😊
Wow. Unbelievable guitar, vocals, arrangement; musicianship. Thank you.🎸🎼💕Always hope true talent is seen but not "discovered."
Goosebumps 👏😭
Absolutely brilliant first rendition of David! His strong voice makes the song an event! Please, more from him!
A very good new busker. THX David!
That was truly an excellent rendition of a classic song! Well done that man 👏👏👏👏
Simply Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every time I hear this song I fall in love with it all over ❤ this was absolutely beautiful 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This song is a classical...good job young fella
Slow and steady wins the race. This singer puts an extra charm on the song by singing slow and steadily. 🎉
It's so great to see these young musicians taking the classics from the 70's and 80's a transforming them. This is beautiful and was one of my fav groups from the 80's 💜💜💜
Great cover. He made it unique but still identifiable.
Fantastic performance so much talent in ireland must be something in the water another cool video Saun well done keep up the good work love uk
🙏
People, stop and listen! So many just walked past. He had me riveted. Lovely slowed-down arrangement and a haunting voice.
He hit those high notes beautifully!! 🎶🎤🎸
I’d go see him, and I basically don’t do concerts. His raw talent is all right there in the sunlight. No smoke, colored lighting, or sound technicians. Just a handsome young man with a beautiful interpretation of lyrics. He’s the real deal. No one has manufactured him on a talent show. He produces himself perfectly.
Love loved it.
This is one of the vids you didn't want to end! Absolutely beautiful rendition. I actually liked this better than the original. How has this guy not been discovered????
Same here :
Better than the original.
♥️
This is an original a-ha version. They played it unplugged this way. So this is not his take on Take on me.
For the first time I can understand all the lyrics! He needs to go on a nationally televised talent show.
Beautiful rendition of one of my favorite songs. Thanks so much for sharing your talent.
I expected to not like this. Instead I'm left with tear filled eyes by a performance that took me back to my youth, if only briefly. Too briefly.
Thank you.
This is brilliant young man
wowowowowow. way to bring a childhood favourite back to me in adulthood in a beautifully renewed way. thank you David Hayden. It's no better to be safe than sorry 💙
Wow I loved this song back in the day💕 But this talented young man’s version is just beautiful! 👏👏👏
Stunning vocals
This young man is worthy of a concert stage and full band ❤
Slower often feels more romantic, but the upbeat version is what really makes you wanna move. I will always love the original, but this so refreshing version of an iconic song.
