How about a Corporal’s Truck Camper Revival. You could do a video series on your truck camper build. Lets fund the build who’s with me. put up a link so we can fund the build.
@Corporals Corner For the mid area where you had your 3 to 4 foot long pole & shamog, I was wondering if this was the preferred go to way of doing something in that middle area. I think you set up a bi pod, maybe a trip pod & ran a ridge line either through that middle loop or a prussik loop on an occasion or 2. I've seen some folks use an over hanging tree limb as well to get the same idea about propping up the mid area, but I guess that depends on a sturdy branch going the way you'd want it to go depending on the rest of the configuration?. Also, if you had or wanted to do a raised bed, what type of room would you have or need so as to not feel cramped under the roof of the set up?
I drive for a country singer and I always watch your videos. Just got through catching back up when you released this one. Keep up the good work. Just an army vet here enjoying watching you teach your Pathfinder skills.
Donating time is free time. Church, friends, family are the only ones who get free time. But for work, nothing is free time. I like what you do. Please continue.
My 4 year old niece loves your videos so much she decided she needs to build here on shelters in my front room. Moving all the chairs and putting up blankets as tarps..
No one works harder then you week in and week out. You are the man. Thank you for everything over the years. I like to watch Alone and every season wish you were on that show!
Greetings Corporal- Out of all the vids that you have showed different tarp configurations, this one is by far, my favorite set-up. Thanks for showing how to do the folds underneath and it looks great set-up. Good afterthoughts- seems like a lot of folks around here want you to do something or fix something for free. I like helping people out, but they need to help themselves first, before always relying on someone else to fix their issues. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the good vids and be good- Carry On-
Love your videos Shawn. Been watching 4 years. FYI, I’ve been getting old CC videos showing up in my feed. I don’t know why YT had them buried. With me Following you for so long and watching bushcraft videos regularly it seems that I was intentionally being shielded from your great stuff. I’ll keep searching for more of your oldies.
Outstanding overnighter once again. I’m really liking the corporals final thoughts. It helps us stay connected and focus on what really matters. People helping people, paying it forward is a heart happy community. It’s sometimes hard to see or find it around us, but if your one of those people that lives that every day it’s really Not that hard to see. Thank you for your service to our country, thank you for another outstanding video. I love the tarps too. I Never can get enough of this Chanel. Thank you thank you thank you Raymond from western South Dakota
Love the knowledge brother!!We The People are listening.. learning and teaching our children these skills thanks to Patriots like you brother!..Im new to the channel,,long time prepper..i dont know you .Yet I can tell you'd have my 6.Much love from California 🏔️
A very good video! Always like the tarp tent. Glad to see the coverings for the fire. Often, other videos show fires in the rain -- which we know will soon be put out by pouring rain. Plus, it gives protection as we feed the fire and cook our food. (Glad you like liver. I use liver for bait and eat other cuts.) The best part of the video was your final thought!! As a professional Santa, folks have no idea how expensive it it. Although I donate time to some non-profits, it is sad to see how many groups, schools, etc. want the performance for free -- especially in "peak times." Thanks and keep "preaching" on.
Just watched your episode and your final thought really was on point. I completely agree with you about it. It's one of those things that I was all for as a young guy... but then realized that employees are just numbers. Even for good companies. When you realize your selling your time for your profit, it becomes easier to rationalize whether there's a benefit to giving your time for free... which I'm sure there are good reasons. But in general, an employer that doesn't respect your time and isn't willing to pay for it will be the first to fire you when you're not profitable. Great episode, as usual!
Thank you for telling me what kind of tarp to use when I wanna go camping is better than using a tent you have good ideas I like how you cook your food I like how you build your tents your cabins I like the knowledge that you’re giving us thank you keep the videos coming
After a weekend with my girlfriend and a rise in blood pressure I love chillin with your videos. A couple shots of bourbon and immersing myself in your videos is just what the doctor ordered.
We should all nominate this as the BEST Corporals Corner video of the year! Excellent simple shelter configuration, a superior meal, and the final thought segment so many have observed one way or another. It saddened me to learn what a popular non-profit organization did to a top employee. He was not injured. The man could not afford to a meeting and was let go shortly before becoming vested in the organization's retirement plan, losing it all. I wonder what supporters would think if they knew how their beloved non-profit treated faithful long-time employees behind the screen of secrecy?
For years my wife and I always wanted a country property me especially so I could do what I have learned from you thanks we're finally on 5 and half acre of land with native trees and bush to camp cook experience sleeping on the land all thanks for your postage videos keep teaching brother God bless.
Me and 6 of my buddies spent five days on a muzzleloader deer hunt like this one time. Never got to hunt but we had a blast sitting under our tarp tents shooting the bull and cooking all kinds of good stuff.
Cool. I always find that a tarp, or blanket, with the right folds can do all of functions. It is good to know a tarp setup that can provide severe weather protection. Thank you for your videos and God bless you and your family.
Great tip Works well in most areas, will help with pooling to the extent that the trench is dug in torrential downpour, even inches in elevation can mean the difference from a dry pack/bed and hypothermia.
Cpl. KELLY, OUTSTANDING AF Video. Thanks for keeping it Real. I greatly appreciate all your hard work and sharing of your time and knowledge and wisdom and experience. You Are The Master Woodsman and Bushcrafter. Tim L. U.S. Army Vet.
Amen on "should you do it for free" commentary. I will add my experience. I worked in IT for a local health care system. Took my computer on vacations, did extra, always a company 1st employee. For almost 40 years. My husband died at that health care system, due to negligence. I decided 8 months later to leave ...There are only two people that still contact me from that place. I could have pissed in the wind for all the difference my hours made. Anyway, thanks for letting this 60 year old woman vent. The past 90 days since I left my job have been somewhat bittersweet. Miss the old man, but finally busy living. Work for the paycheck, but don't forget to live your life. Otherwise, it ain't worth it.
Semper Fi brother I have watcher your video's for several years now. Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought you stated a few weeks ago that you plan to stop making new videos. I will ask not just for our direct community but for people in the future that need to know the skills that you have to offer. Our country really needs people like yourself to teach these vital skills. We all try to do what we can to show those around us but you have a special skill and a large platform. Please continue Blessings
It may seem a small point but thumbs up for the way you cooked the liver and onions. Fully cooking the onions and then setting them aside, allows you to cook the liver properly. I've seen many people (including my mother) put the liver and onions together and then cook them until the onions are done, which results in leather and onions. Not a good look. Great set up; great meal. Thanks for the video.
Love your videos. Please focus on all of the positive comments, and I see dozens. Ignore the hateful and ignorant comments. You have so many fans, do not give the ignoramuses any air time/recognition. Great video. Thank you.
Could you do a video of how to maintain and/or make an oil skin tarp in a field environment? Such as what you could fine in nature to keep it water resistant.
Hey Devil dog, I just started watching you a few months ago and I must say I am truly impressed and have gained a great deal of knowledge in spite of the fact that I served 21 years in the good Old Corps. Keep up the great work. I am learning so much each and every episode. You are indeed a very informative individual on RUclips and I appreciate you greatly! Thank You "Top Rouis" 👍🏾👏🏾💯
Great food for thought Mr. Kelly. I guess it really depends on the situation. I have found myself in both types. Forced and my decision. It has to really go by what is going on and why. Love it.
The final thaught is spot on, they only appreciate your skills, when you take your vacation time. Thank you for getting me in the woods, always appreciated
I love, love, love the video, Corporal! This video had three infomercials pop up and they were 5 minutes each, but I let them play all the way through, in the hopes that it helps your algorithm, and benefits you the most. You deserve the very best. Love and appreciate you so much!
Yay, a final thought! It made me think that there is something else that is also true: If someone comes along and helps you with something just to be a nice person, especially if they do an exceptional job at it, you should give them something for it if you are able. I know many of us don't have much money but the beauty of helping is that just like the other person helped you with something that you couldn't do or their help made what you had to do anyway quicker and easier with an extra set of hand, you can probably help them with something they can't do or help them get a task they had to do done more quickly. One thing anyone can do for someone else that they can't do for themselves is to just listen. You'd be surprised how valuable your time and a listening ear is for literally anyone anytime. Something a friend of mine once said has become one of my mottos and it's about how it's not hard to be a decent person in life, you just "treat people like people."
Walked back from my fort this eventing instead of staying the night so I would remember to see your video actually on the day and, also I didn't sleep all that well last night so I decided to forgo my bed of branches at the fort since it's kind of hard for an old fogey to sleep on sometimes.
Great content as always brother. Just gotta say even in the rain Cpl will talk the talk and walk the walk. Been a follower for years and having had the privilege to finally meet the man behind the curtain I will say he is a dedicated and REAL bushcrafter week in and week out. Thanks again brother keep up the good work.
I'm one of the lucky few....I worked 27 years for a family run communications company. They treated ME like family, so I returned in kind. If they needed me to go to a mountain top site Saturday night at midnight, I would (not for free....) If I needed to use the shop to work on a rig, they had no problem with that. Like I said, I was one of the lucky few.....
Cheer up, Corporal. My local grocery has an interesting policy - If an item sells out quickly and they have trouble keeping it in stock, they simply stop stocking that item. "Don't sell this item, it's too hard to keep in stock." Glad to know this idiocy is limited to my hick-ass small town. "Don't stock products because they sell too will." *shakes head, violently* You just keep on Keepin on! You Go, Sir!!!
I’ve been a follower for a long time, so with all due respect and appreciation. It’s probably not wise to mock the folks trying to purchase things from your Etsy.
He also explains it everytime, so he's either repeating a script or making a whole new explaination that he knows is very boring and will probably have people leave the video, so in all fairness I think we would all be irritated doing it for a year or years, when its been done tens if not hundreds of times.
Awesome AF as always !! Lol you didn't forget the onion! I can honestly say, I think I could eat bark as long as there was an onion to go with it ! ♥ as always, PS, GREAT advice about the job thing !
@David Henderson I used to wonder the same thing but, you'll notice 2 things as clues. 1- the fire involved isn't really that big & is only shooting up maybe 2- possibly 5 inch flames from the base. 2- just how high up the tarp is from where the fire would be. I guess some experimenting may go into this involving setting up a fire, lighting it & seeing or feeling how much heat you get as you put your hand safely & further away going in an upwards direction from the base of your fire? I'd guesstimate his fire cover tarp is at least 4 or so feet off the ground but could be more or less depending? This is what to me, it visually looks like on Camera.
i've personally been through the 'donating time' scam in the past. all i can say is, never again. if the boss wants me to come in early, he should pay me. i don't go to work for a favor. favors, do not pay my rent.
I've been scratching my head how this cover tarp did not catch fire nor got melted... The air is super hot even high above the fire pit. What is a safe height above the fire to hang such a cover? Can anyone explain?
It depends on the material of tarp and how high any embers fly. The tarp used here is a bit different from a cheap blue tarp for example and a waxed canvas tarp is different from both of those. You'd likely have to do your own research to figure out how close is too close for the type of tarp you use but that answers why it didn't melt at least.
Been there and done that. I worked in a local council warehouse where I suffered back injuries and needed to take time off. I was even medically advised to look for a job that didn't involve heavy lifting. So I asked the council boss to see if there were any light-work jobs available. They said they would look into this and get back to me. The council then attempted to sack me. I took them to court and won my case and received compensation and then left my job due to ill health. Never again will I trust any corporation.
Your water gathering capabilities are brilliant young man!!!! There's no other way to explain your cerebral proficiency!!! You young man are brilliant!!!! And then handsome to on top of that????!!!!!
Oh mate, dust those livers in flour first, fry up some bacon with your onions, finish off with a little bit of that rain water at the end to make some pan gravy and you've got yummy lambs fry. Hhmmm Yum!!!!

A method that I was taught when I was a Boy Scout in the 1970's was to always put a 3" deep rain trench around your tent.
Great tip Works well in most areas, will help with pooling to the extent that the trench is dug in torrential downpour, even inches in elevation can mean the difference from a dry pack/bed and hypothermia.

He also explains it everytime, so he's either repeating a script or making a whole new explaination that he knows is very boring and will probably have people leave the video, so in all fairness I think we would all be irritated doing it for a year or years, when its been done tens if not hundreds of times.
@@zevjohnson I agree totally. I would hate for a new viewer or follower to get the wrong impression is all.
They never get old, you usually see something or catch something different every time👍💯
7:41 Ahh, that sound. I'll be back after a quick head call.
Awesome AF as always !! Lol you didn't forget the onion! I can honestly say, I think I could eat bark as long as there was an onion to go with it ! ♥ as always, PS, GREAT advice about the job thing !
I don't like onions, so I have Liver & Bacon! Bacon makes everything better!
This was a good one, Shawn, hits close to home. It’s spring here in the PNW, temp in 30’s and raining as I watch this. 👍
One thing I can not get over is how the 'roof' to the fire does not catch fire. I would end up setting the whole thing up in flames.
@David Henderson
I used to wonder the same thing but, you'll notice 2 things as clues.
Another excellent video of proven technique. Thanks for sharing this. All outdoors persons should know this.
i've personally been through the 'donating time' scam in the past. all i can say is, never again. if the boss wants me to come in early, he should pay me. i don't go to work for a favor. favors, do not pay my rent.
My Dad loved liver and onions...me, not so much at all. Great video.
Video just dropped. It's Sunday. Morning. Your etsy has one item.
Thanks for continuing to post your videos. I enjoy them on Sundays
Another great overnight in the woods. Like the use of the tarp for another possible set up. Liver and onions, oh yes, thanks for video today.
And then handsome to on top of that????!!!!!

glad to see i'm not the only one that likes liver; great video!
Oh mate, dust those livers in flour first, fry up some bacon with your onions, finish off with a little bit of that rain water at the end to make some pan gravy and you've got yummy lambs fry. Hhmmm Yum!!!!
