Healing Movement Exercise to RELEASE TENSION: Move through stress,anxiety, trauma & emotional blocks

  • In this video, we will be exploring a powerful movement exercise to help you release trauma from your body. Elements such as unprocessed emotions, repeated exposure, uncompleted stress responses, and frequent triggers can cause trauma to stay stored in our bodies, often making us feel unsafe, anxious, and overwhelmed. This video uses 3 powerful somatic techniques to slowly guide your nervous system back to a space of grounding and relaxation.
    More about the 3 somatic techniques:
    1. Venting: High-intensity, fast-paced movements that help release pent-up energy and unblock stuck emotions in your body, while disconnecting from the mind. Venting is a strategy most of us are used to doing verbally. Something upsetting happens to us, we call a friend, talk very fast for 5 minutes straight about the upsetting event, and feel a sense of release afterward. Well, venting can also be done with your body! And, it is usually more effective because you get to go to the core of the blockages and pent-up emotions that are creating an over-stimulation of your nervous system.
    2. Tense & Release: Rhythmic movements that create a small build-up of tension, followed by a release. These movements help gently soothe your nervous system while making it feel grounded and supported. If you are highly triggered, connecting to stillness and calmness can shock the nervous system when done abruptly. Movements like swaying and bouncing regulate the nervous system, gently de-escalating the stress response and walking it toward relaxation.
    3. Relax Calm, flexible movements that use body weight, breath, rocking, and rest to allow the body to gently come back to its state of balance. Having gone through the previous steps, this state is now more accessible to me, allowing for deeper integration. This is where the healing happens!
    Important, go at your own pace and always adapt the movements to what feels comfortable! Repeat this exercise as many times as you need, it is meant to really train your body into returning to its natural state of balance and harmony. Remember, your body is wise. The more you make space and time to connect to it, the better you will feel.

    This is amazing! I'm almost 50 yrs old and I've tried everything for anxiety. A lot of practices like "yoga for anxiety", which involve a lot of stillness and often talk from the instructor make me feel worse when anxiety is running riot. This just works! Now I feel I can meditate and other things. I'm not going to overthink it, just do this every day. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Hello from Glasgow in Scotland where the sun is actually out :)

    I am having a very hard time right now and I did not know what to do to feel better, I felt a desire to move my body and was guided to search healing dance and I am so grateful. This was the most perfect thing I could have done for my body and my spirit. I cried almost the entire time so a lot of releasing! I will do this so many times!! I started crying a bit and it feels so good, I feel like a little fissure of light starts to break this hard, black and sweltering armour where I closed my self for so long... it will be a long long path but right now I fill like you pushed me in my first step.     Omg ive just done this and i love it. I struggle with PMDD which is linked to trauma and creates so much excess energy in me. When we were rocking from side to side i felt this urge to rock a baby so i did, that baby was me. I just know I soothed my baby self. Im close to tears right now and they are stuck in my throat so im going to journal what i experienced. Im going to do this every morning and journal straight afterwards. Amazing xx thankyou so much.     As soon as I started doing the movements, I got goosebumps and then tears started rolling down my face and I wasn't even sad! It was a powerful release that came on unexpectedly. I've done a lot of yoga/meditation and some somatic movements but I have never found something so quick to release. Your energy is beautiful! I can't wait to check out some of your other videos.     this is an excellent effort (i would imagine mostly for those how are not fans of any kind of exercise). for the rest of us, it's great for recovery days or lazy days (assuming we're at least motivated enough to use the video!!) THANKS!!!

    Thank you so much Tamara! I could finally give to myself the soothing I was craving (and always search elsewhere- people, places). Truly amazing experience to be happy with myself and appreciate her with all her beauty and strength. I apologized myself for all the hate, mistrust and suffering I put through her, not recognizing how amazing she is and for not supporting, celebrating, trusting her.     Thank you so much for this video, Tamara! My anxiety has been so high the past weeks, and I wasn't able to get it down. I tried yoga and breathing exercises, but they weren't really doing the trick. I felt like I needed bigger, freer movements.     Wow 🤩 I’ve done these movements a couple of times now and the way this made me feel so much more at ease in my body. I haven’t felt this calm in quite a while. The natural flow of the shaking movements, jumping and rocking and then the affirmations and rest at the end. Thank you so much for these video’s ❤️❤️

    Quick question how long should one do this before seeing results?

      It depends on each person! Some people feel a sense of relief immediately, for others it can take more time. The more you do it, the more your body opens up to the practice. I do recommend focusing more on the journey and the experience, accepting everything that comes up as part of the process! 💙

    Thank you, Tamara I have a question:Have you ever seen people coming in contact with unconscious trauma out of this kind of exercise? I mean, sometimes the problem with trauma is that the person is not aware of it. Is it possible to remember through these exercises? I suppose additional work is needed, right?

      It's my pleasure :) Yes, this can happen. Some people may have experiences during movement practices that bring up emotions or memories related to past traumas. When we move, especially in an intentional way, we can activate a lot of unconscious parts of us. In those cases, it is really recommended to seek professional support to help navigate and integrate these experiences.
