Great question. I do have other versions of the ripple that you may be interested in checking out. Using a larger stitch will change the characteristics of this design a bit. Here are some other options: www.youtube.com/@BonnieBayCrochet/search?query=ripple
I wanted to make the blanket bigger so I continued the pattern all the way around the circumference of the blanket connecting at the beginning of the row then chain one and turn it around to get the ripple effect. It kind of looks like a border in the sides.
@@BonnieBayCrochet okay thanks so much. I am going to give it a try. I love how you teach and have made many of your pieces. Thanks for getting back so quickly.

Hi Bonnie! Love all your work and have been learning a lot from you after my 50 years of crocheting...one thing I want to ask is why do you skip only 1 loop at the bottom of row 1 but then you skip 2 at the same spot for rows 2 and beyond. I tried it both ways and there is less of a curved base with 2 skips, however pointer. Thank you for sharing your expertise and wisdom.
Not really sure since there are many variables in your question Kristee. You can always add more chains the you think you need, and then remove the extras once you complete the first row. Just be sure to leave the starting slip knot loose to do this.
Like your pattern and tutorial. My mother made a ripple afghan which I think was a progressive ripple. It started with 3sc peak and 3sc skip 2 then 5sc then 7sc then 9sc then 11sc then 13sc twice and back down to 3sc. Hope I explained it ok. Can't find a pattern. Any suggestions?

I'm enjoying your ripple patterns very much, even thought I already know how to make ripples, which were very hard art first. My question is regarding ripple patterns in general,. Almost all go "downhill" first. I wonder why that is??? I mean, Jack & Jill went up the hill first before tumbling down. I haven't figured out how to modify ripple patterns to go uphill first since the beginning & ending of rows is so critical.
That's an excellent question, but one that would require another design. I do have a ripple granny square blanket on my channel. Would all depend upon how many stitches you wish to include in each chevron.
I am sooooo happy you posted this, as I found a similar pattern in a bulk yarn and being a beginner did not know how to change the yar weight, searched for you and there it is!!! Do you think this would work well in an hombre or multi stripe yarn? or does it look best in the way you did it.. Thank you can't wait to start. I will more than likely look for a med weight #4 yarn and the appropriate needle size would I need to go up in the needle size?
Yes, I would bump up the crochet hook/needle size to match your yarn. A size I (or 9/5.00mm) should work well with a worsted weight yarn. This pattern can be varied in so many ways. Using contrasting colors to show off the chevrons works best. You can vary the width of the stripes too.
This looks great. Hi Bonnie, How many chains would I need to make a blanket for premmy babies? I have started making blankets (granny square style) for premmy babies. Thanks
If you are making these about 12" wide, you will need to subtract 64 chains from the starting chain (or 16 chains for each chevron you subtract from the original 8 chevrons). This will give you a piece 4 chevrons wide.
I am making a baby blanket from this tutorial. I’ve got to have it finished by next week. I have frogged it at least 5 times. It keeps growing on one end. @@BonnieBayCrochet I don’t think I am. One issue I found late last night - I had 3 chevrons in a row. I must have been asleep. Lol. I frogged that. I am still coming up with 2 extra stitches each row on one end. I think it has to do with the 2 sc in the first stitch.

@@BonnieBayCrochet From Sue, I have the pattern for the ripple. You make it so easy. Thank you very much, you are an excellent teacher and an excellent mentoe.
@@suefoster7343 Thank you!!
I thought you already made a ripple blanket.

@@BonnieBayCrochet oh ok 😊 love your work have already done a few blankets from you ☺️

Wow absolutely stunning ❤❤
