Better version Me who is still watching the 10 50 minute unskippable ads Well, it will over heat soon because I’m getting one and heating it up and smashing it to show my anger
One small detail they should add to the Series X is the ability to rotate the power button with the console for a more pleasing aesthetic when using it on it’s side.
"Does this thing that Microsoft spent a billion dollars in engineering work?" Yes, yes it does... This isn't 2005 with poor quality lead-free solder ruining all of our electronics.
A thing that bothered me what wasn't mentioned is that Hot exhaust = good. That means the cooling system is doing a good job getting rid of all the heat.
Mine is red hot I thought there was summat wrong with it because it was was kicking hot air out the top so am I right in thinking mine is OK and not something wrong with it its less than three hours old
@craigwilkinson1882 I might not get a response considering how old this comment is but, how is it now? is the fan noise still quiet and does it feel like it's still cooling well? im thinking of buying one here soon
I would of liked for them to run it alot longer to see if it thermal throttles over a few hours in that box. Playing just a quick 10 minutes section really won't give you an idea of how much it can heat up.
The first person to finally talk about the low latency! I’ve been asking everywhere if somebody can comment on if it makes a difference. I’d like someone to go more in depth but I’m glad you at least brought it up.
I really appreciate that Austin took a few seconds to be completely quiet while allowing the viewers to see just how loud the Xbox Series X is. It may be something small and inconsequential, something that could easily slip by people's minds, but it is these small things that make it so much better.
People need to realize that overheat ≠ warm. This applies to all consumer electronics. Another thing people need to understand is that high performance, components tend to run at high temperatures; temperatures that would cause burns to people if you touch it while it is operating. That's not what these are intended to do so there's no worry about that. The actual components on the PS5 and XSX (from watching various other places) run at those temperatures, but actually much lower than PC components. Xbox Series X doesn't have any dedicated games for it yet. All of the games are cross gen and backwards compatible games. So... There's nothing really worth buy for it yet; not to mention that most/all of the games coming will be on PC and/or PS4. 120 fps on these coming consoles are not something we'll see; at least not within the first few years. Instead, I think we'll see 4K 60 fps being the more ideal, norm. So there's no need to worry about getting a TV/monitor that has 120 refresh rate or 8K. Don't waste your money. It'll take some time. Dust definitely is a concern. I'm surprised there's no easily accessible way for you to open the Xbox Series X to clean out the dust. The PS5 let's you open the side panel to have access to the cooling fan, spots inside to vacuum the dust out, and expand the internal storage with a PCIe 4.0, NVMe SSD. Overall, I think the PS5 is the better choice in terms of the things mentioned here as well as (you know) games; actual next-gen games.
The heat exhaust doesnt pick up overtime necessarily. It depends on the game you play. Ex: If you play rdr2, it might give more heat than if you were to play minecraft
Again...Temps will always level out, after just short period of time. It's not as though you're gradually turning up the amount of watt's that the console is using, to also cause the temps to climb. Wattage drain will remain at fairly constant rate while gaming over a long period and likewise because of it, so will the temps that it put's out. Your room temperature might increase slightly, but the exhausted heat from the console, should remain roughly the same.
It will over heat only if you cover all exhaust ports. And I believe that just like the Xbox one it will shut down then turn back on. Once it turns back on it will tell you to stop covering the exhaust. Keep in mind you will have to play for a very long time and cover the exhaust.
For perspective... For PC's 80°C is considered getting too hot. But can still be pushed to 90 before things get ruined. And still work fine. So a 60°, or lower, is considered under a good temperature.
We need a realistic amount of time 5 mins you're barely in the game. At least do 2-3 hours of gaming considering most people have jobs. 6-8 hours for the more hardcore. A 5 min test won't show any long term results. Plus you want to test temps after power has been shut off. I'm hoping to get my hands on both for test and playing.
Heat soak will take like 10-30 minutes, so I don't think hours is needed. Ambient room temperature will increase over time with the heat output, so that could be a factor I guess.
It doesn't matter, Series X won't get any hotter than the One X. It's crazy how one youtuber made everyone go crazy about this when it's no issue really.
@@restlessactivity8696it does to certain extent. Especially for extending play, ambient temps, etc. So i'll have to judge that for myself for both systems. Yes people have been out of pocket with the heat issue, but i do want to see more real world testing with both. Especially since we haven't seen anything that's really pushing the systems.
@@randolphelento2439 but reliability testing wont be achieved in one day. That happens over years of use, how long will it last? It's like saying a brand new car is junk after 10 mins of driving it. Doesn't make sense.

"Lets test the temperatures of the series x" ... *Plays 5 minutes of a game to test it*... 5 Minutes of gameplay is far from representative of any "real world" game play session, you can't conclude it doesn't overheat when you've barely even caused the system to do any work.
There are videos with it running for longer and it doesn't go over 55 degrees PS4 on the other hand was in the mid 60s hence why it had the reputation for being so loud last gen
Let's see. Gears 5 is a series X optimized game. This doesn't mean it will look like say(demon's souls but it itself is a pretty demanding and good looking game). If you see the digital foundry gears 5 analysis, you will know that the series X runs gears 5 at 4k60fps at settings higher than PCs and even having raytraced global illumination. So I think this can tax even a 3080 enough especially at 4k, so it's pretty impressive that it's running in 4k60fps on a 500$ console. This is pretty comparable to any next gen game that will grace the Blu-ray reader of the series X. And thus, also comparable to the game played by japanese youtubers, astro and godfall which I believe ran at 4k30fps with raytracing enabled, an impressive feat on its own. The ps5 ran at 50-60 degrees Celsius which is pretty impressive with barely any fan noise which is what the series X also did. The T-1000 cooling solution in the ps5 is mainly for the effective conductance of heat as metal is more conductive than thermal paste but the series X's vapour chamber solution along wih its large axial fan can pit with the ps5 very well. I still kind of believe the ps5 will have the edge later in cooling but only by a little bit.
They did a great job on cooling. Also, there's not any real difference between vertical and horizontal but it feels 1 to 3 C just to my touch, cooler on it's side.
Yes, when it hits a thermal maximum that's... the thermal maximum. If it takes 2 minutes to fully heat up, and between minute 2 and 3 it's the same.... and 3-4... and 4-5... that's as hot as it gets.
Great video. Well explain and straight forward. Like the way u explain it and show it. I also like the way u get straight to the point. No side track or no complications. Good job
I'm glad that people are coming out with videos touching on this. It's just very unfortunate that a good chunk of people don't understand how any of this works. I have a PC that's a little large than the PS5 is. My cooling is adequate probably better than not, it heats up my room when gaming. And it's rather noticeable. Both the XSX and the PS5 run cooler than most PC's do. These consoles are also smaller than the average gaming PC. The X is even smaller than some ITX cases out there. Smaller and runs cooler? Isn't that just a win? It's already been confirmed that the X and PS5 run about the same temps.
I just picked up xbox x today and holy shit I love it it's not light and gameplay is wow I dont know what to say it's that good mine got hot but now it's not in under 5 mins cooled down it's big man jeez!! I'm going put fan in back of it where sucks cold air in that help alot

I really appreciate that Austin took a few seconds to be completely quiet while allowing the viewers to see just how loud the Xbox Series X is.
It may be something small and inconsequential, something that could easily slip by people's minds, but it is these small things that make it so much better.
It's a fridge a fridge dosen't overheat
Crazy how the SX has more user usable space than the One X, but offers quick resume.
Say thanks to velocity architecture. The engineers done a hell of a job this gen
Austin, we play for more than 5 minutes, we play like 5 hours, so test the heat for that'll

As a PC builder and gamer, those temperatures and noise levels are fantastic for the environments it was in! Don't worry about it overheating!

Spoiler:
No, it doesn’t over heat. The fan extracts the heat through the exhaust port, like it says it should, drawing the hot air out.
For perspective... For PC's 80°C is considered getting too hot. But can still be pushed to 90 before things get ruined. And still work fine. So a 60°, or lower, is considered under a good temperature.
That's the vent on the top. Imagine the insides. Aslo it was only after 5 minutes lmaoo
in all honesty, it does slightly worse than my pc under load, but the cooling on that thing for the size is very great
We need a realistic amount of time 5 mins you're barely in the game.

I'm glad that people are coming out with videos touching on this. It's just very unfortunate that a good chunk of people don't understand how any of this works. I have a PC that's a little large than the PS5 is. My cooling is adequate probably better than not, it heats up my room when gaming. And it's rather noticeable.
