Your dining table in that dark colour actually looks like it belongs in that space - it sets off your dining chairs so beautifully and would stand out in relief against a floral wallpaper (like the one in your bedroom).

    Hi Elize, great furniture finds.
I was thinking maybe you could move the big gold mirror and put it against the wall where the green cabinet is, to reflect the light in the room until you get a skylight and move the green cupboard and put it where the mirror is until you find the right piece of furniture that you like.
You could add faux green plants and put them next to the big mirror to give that space life, and add a free standing light in gold.
Of course you need a big dining room table. 😂 You are funny.
Seriously, the small round table was abit small for the space.
Well done on your lovely purchases.
The couch🛋️ is so cute. Enjoy. 🤗💖💐

Elise….I actually love your dining table color the way it is! After 50 years of marriage when we downsized, I went thrifting for a good expandable table to be used for just us or family gatherings….and found a beautiful cherry table & chairs from a couple also moving into a condo but not for family gatherings any more. I am so satisfied with the feeling of being grounded with cherry wood that I also use it for cutting out patterns on fabric for clothing for the grandchildren….besides many grand dinners! You may want to wait on changing the color till getting on your wallpapered wall and skylight. I can see why you want the feeling of not so much cramping overhead but lift with a skylight. Your beautiful mirror for that space highlights, sparkles & expands the feeling! Wonderful!

Yes, lamps are good, and skylights add natural light, which is better for your emotional well being, as you connect more with nature, Plants love being near skylights and although there is an up front cost for installation, you do save a little more money on electricity in the long run.@@jayemowrey1416

Hi Elise, skylights are great, but be sure you get the right contractor. All of them will tell you, 'no problem' however, to cut in a skylight into an existing roof is sometimes asking for problems, especially with rain, frost, ice and snow in your area. Some roofers may advise against it - take your time. Love your channel, Happy New Year!

Elise, you could lighten the color of your table and show off the grain in the wood by just adding liming wax or Cerusing wax and then buffing against the grain. Amy Howard at Home has great choices in those two waxes. Plus she sells a product called Clean Slate that will clean off any old wax and/or furniture polishes. And she ships internationally. I’m in America and I only use her products because they are so good and so safe for the end user and your furniture. She has some great videos on RUclips as well if you want to check her out. Great table and couch purchases by the way.

I love the dark table but it's your decor. It does set off the chairs. If you paint your table will you have to paint the rims of your chairs so it will match it? As far as the skyline it sounds like a great idea but make sure that the carpenter does a great job because skylights that you put in a roof tend to leak. So make sure he puts in some extra leak-proof stuff around the skylight.

The dark table looks good with the dark chairs in that position. If you want to brighten up the space the use of a colourful table runner would do the trick. Also a lamp in the corner with one bulb going up to the ceiling and the other going in another lower direction pointed at the wall would give more balance. You could even place a small but tall potted plant next to the lamp to add greenery there. Plants always brighten up a space. I think your home looks lovely. Just needs the right accents for lighting the space. ❤

Perfect vintage this week with beautiful coats and jackets and I can't wait to see the seating area in the boutique.
The dining room table surprising looks great in your house. What about adding some recessed lighting in your dining room area rather than a skylight? A few cans cans will add such a warm glow, lots of light and they don't interfere with your aesthetic, so you could still add a beautiful chandelier over the table if you wanted. They're also a great way to highlight a hutch or art pieces. Thanks for taking us along this week, who wouldn't enjoy January in Denmark with Elise 😘

I like the dark table, it looks very sophisticated and if candles and dishes on the table for guests or just yourself it would look different. I think the green cabinet that you are getting rid of does not go with the new table, so I think when you get rid of that cabinet, you may think differently about the darkness of the table. It looks lovely with your sofa. I used to paint a lot of my furniture, but then thought I had a house just too full of it and no contrast. Love the shop sofa, so beautiful. I would not do a skylight. I would put a large lamp on anew sideboard that you hopefully will buy to go with your table. The lamp would make enough light. And another lamp in your living area that was larger to give off enough light also.

I was loving the thrift shops! You can spray paint any mirror gold, then all in your collage will match

re-locating your large mirror to replace the tall cabinet would give light and the best garden view into the current quietness of the end zone and corner. also agree with other post about filling all corners with lamps for friendlier lighting. thanks for your inspiration over here in Canada xoxo

Hi Elise, what a beautiful Table. The darker color gives you some contrast, but I realize, you don’t like darker colors. Really great thrift finds. Thank you for taking us along with you.

Smart idea about the carpenter. Someone versatile that you can use for other projects. 👍

I agree waiting to paint the table is a good idea - by the time you have the skylight, wallpaper, other furniture, pictures etc, it might not even be a problem to be dark. Tablecloths are also an easier option! 😆

This was a great video - a week with Elise ❣️ Can’t wait to see what you do with your dining space 🥰. I totally agree about finding a carpenter that you can trust for future projects as well. And Especially with a skylight! It will make such a difference in that dark corner of your home. I cut and built a timber frame cabin on my own about a decade ago and found a great person to help me build the road and fill in the cabin walls roof etc. He is amazing! We have been able to mill our own lumber from the surrounding forest, find the best deals on materials. I am finally at the interior planning, slowed down due to my health, but he and my dad have been working together to help me complete this dream. He and his wife became my close friends. I feel so blessed to have found such an amazing, carpenter-lumberjack-of-all-trades. Best of luck on finding a lasting fit to help you with your future house projects.
