    The floral wallpaper looks amazing. A narrow piece of wood trim along the ceiling could help hide the gap.

      Yes a piece of molding at top will hide the gap and match the molding at the bottom. Walls are never level. I have wallpapered and got frustrated. My husband said "focus on beauty not perfection."

    Hi Elise! I can see many people are commenting what I meant to comment as well, which is add trim molding where the gap above the wallpaper is present, however, since there isnt any molding anywhere else, it could look weird - so using some molding all around the wallpaper, kind of like a picture frame, would be a great option. You could even paint it a nice sage green or something, and really embrace the picture frame effect. Hope this is inspiring for you!

    • @opinionated2
      @opinionated2 5 месяцев назад +2

      Actually, there is trim at the bottom of the wallpaper, at the top of the bead board. So, matching trim could double as crown molding. I think that any wooden "picture frame" would need to match the trim that is already on the bottom.

    Cards in the lovely fruitbowl. Perhaps some tissue paper/fabric scrap to fill the bottom will allow you to fan the cards out without them sliding right in. Clear glass pebbles if you have any could fill the very bottom.
    Love the wallpaper and the new dress for stock. Pity I've no occasion to wear it. Sigh.

    When wallpapering, >never< start at the ceiling line. Always extend a good 3-4 to accommodate for an uneven line. Then simply cut along the ceiling line with a sharp cutter.

    ah I was thinking no, as you were cutting the wallpaper on the floor, yeah you've kind of gotta line it up on the wall and leave more at the top and bottom, stick it down and then trim off the excess at the top and bottom to account for uneven and off measurements of buildings that aren't square and perfect measurements. I was thinking maybe you could get a crown moulding trim to cover up the gap could look really nice.

    Elise, I'm stopping at 7:51, with a thought. How about putting some trim on the top of the wall that matches the trim over the bead board on the lower part of the wall? It would drive me crazy, too, and I don't think I'm being too picky. I believe in doing a job correctly, even if it means correcting our mistakes. I do love the wallpaper, though, and look forward to watching the rest of the video.

    Something like a strip of ceiling coving can hide that gap? You don't have to do the entire ceiling, you could just do that one wall. Don't be too hard on yourself, it looks lovely. Decorating would take up the rest of your life if you try to correct every little mishap or mistake. The task would be literally endless because it's never perfect. Stand back, say I did a great job & make it work. My son is an artist & I say to him every time he wants to "perfect" something...."Stop it! You're going to over cook it & nobody enjoys over cooked eggs" Hahahaha. Homes are the same. Nobody enjoys perfectly curated interiors. Homes are supposed to be imperfect like us xx

    Looks beautiful Elise! Lovely wallpaper, what a difference it makes! I watch Alexandra Gater and she paints the edge/gaps the same shade as wallpaper colours, so it looks like the colours/image touches the top edges of the wall. It is unnoticeable then 🙂🙂 xx

    Sorry, Elise, for the small boo-boo hanging the wallpaper. I believe a small ladder or step stool would have given you the proper height to place the wallpaper better instead of using the sofa and the chair that were too low to stand on.....ahhhhh.... we know you will fix it and make it even dreamier than expected. Always a thumbs up👍👍👍😊🙋‍♀

    You can fill the post card bowl with any beans (coffee?) or loose glass beads if you have them. The beans will help them stand up and hold them in place. For the lampshade, ask the thrift shops if they have any old torn or stained lampshades that they’re willing to sell cheap or give you. You can easily cover the frame with new fabric using a glue gun. I’ve made many lamp shades this way, it’s cheap and easy. Strip all the old fabric off the lamp shade. Make a paper pattern and use it to cut your fabric out (cut the fabric out about 1/2” bigger than the pattern). For fabric, recycle an old favorite piece of clothing, curtain or printed sheet. Old ivory or white pillow cases make great lining. Glue the lining onto the frame first, then glue the outside fabric on tucking in the raw edges. “Extra wide double fold bias tape” works great as trim on the top and bottom edges of the lamp shade. You can find it at any fabric store. Have fun!

    To cover up the mistake at the top of the wallpaper, just go buy some wooden molding. Shoe molding, crown molding type of molding. You can buy the molding unpainted but it also comes painted in white already. They come in long strips. 6 feet or 8 feet or longer. That will totally camouflage the space.
