I miss the days when the bosses would start glowing during a fight. You knew it was almost over.
yhea and some of them were more dangerous in the glowing state , almost done but dont be hasty or.....XD
Sometimes they did that to encourage people to spend. No health bar means you can't tell how close you are, but if a boss is flashing it must be almost dead so just one more play...what, dead again? He must be nearly dead this time.
Thankfully X-Men wasn't too bad for that.

This was one of the more impressive games at arcades when it came out. 3 screens, great graphics and the attract mode really caught my eye when I was younger.

Basically, you could use the second screen to get a better idea what was up ahead.
Also, more people can play at a time.
A bowling alley in a small town in Tennessee where I lived had such a setup as well, and some places also had that in another bigger city, as well as four player cabinets.
I remember this theme song while walking through the arcades of the early 90s. It was always draw me in this was a fantastic game to play with your buddies.

Boss 4 is Nimrod and I think the Stone Statues are supposed to be Living Monolith, or at least based on him.

The fourth boss is actually more like the Master Mold/Nimrod fusion at the Siege Perilous, only he's shrunk down to Nimrod's size for this game.

after having just played it, I'm incredibly impressed with that magneto fight
God I remember seeing this in the arcade for the first time. It was like waking up to your favorite Christmas present x 20020188. The machine was HUGE, kids had never seen anything like that before. I remember my mom giving me $20 worth of tokens and playing this game all afternoon with so many other people. Even grown men were lining up to play it. Fuck! I miss arcades, man.
$20, holy shit. Part of the reason I got so good at arcade games is because my mother would only give me a dollar or two and I had to make it last all day.

These had some great graphics for a early 90s game holy shit!
Never made it through with no damage, but the first time I played this, some kind of glitch made one quarter give me twenty or so lives. Needless to say, I was at the game a looooooong time.
Kids today don't know a damn thing about spending hours of a night or several dollars worth of their allowance in the arcades... damn X-Boxes!

I'm just happy that I can finally see these games to completion. I couldn't get passed the 3rd or 4th level here back in the day.
Also note on the bottom "Note: This game is not over yet" Yup its one of those "Gotta beat it twice to get the proper ending" games!!

Man i still remember playing this in the arcade back in the day.It was very popular.All the guys wanted to play it.The best part was it was on a big wide screen so all four players could keep track of their character and each other.I will have to get the Xbox copy when i get the chance. :)

I understand the concept of video games and how bosses can take more hits. But it still cracks me up when you have characters like Wolverine using his sharp, unbreakable claws that can cut through metal doors against a boss with no super strength or special invulnerability powers and it still takes a dozen hits to kill the guy when one slash should end it.
I loved the hit sounds back in the day. Very cool.
There are few pleasures in life greater than hitting Blob with an optic blast before he finishes saying “nothing moves the Blob”

1st it was 1 quarter then they jacked it up 2 quarters then a dollar then after they got all your money they tell the game is out of order and then they close the arcade 4ever damn!!!!
Was on Xbox 360 and PS3 had multiplayer 4 player and 6 player mode. I'm on the leaderboard for the PS3. Loved this game as a kid

This was my first introduction the X-Men. I still remember 7-year-old me seeing Wolverine at 0:19 and thinking, "Oh, that much be X-Man! And those other guys are his sidekicks!"

As a kid, this game had me CONVINCED that Colossus could explode at will, and he just chose not to.

Replace Wendigo with Toad and this game would have been perfect. This was my favorite era of X-Men, and I don't recall Wendigo being a huge part of it. Toad or Sabretooth would have been better. The voice talent in this game was also priceless from a comedic, entertainment value standpoint. This game could easily be brought back with more characters on both sides and I would still be intrested.
Wendigo had a few story-arcs with Wolverine.
This was so cool on the super wide curved looking monitor on the full cabinet. I used to play it at a local small amusement park arcade all the time.

I can defeat them all easily on any difficulty with storm and not even have to use mutant power. But only with Storm. She's got the reach and the most solid hits.
