What was once a Single Player game is now 4-Player co-op, with less screen crunch, more characters, and more moves. I am impressed, this is a childhood game of mine. Revisiting with a fresh coat of paint is refreshing.
This fan-made is a dream come true! I loved/hated the original as a kid. I couldn't put it down, but I always felt like it was slightly off. Like the developers were fans, but the lead designer wasn't. Characters felt stiff, slow and limited, when all we wanted was to play the bad ass X-men from the comics and cartoon. ZVitor finally gave us that! I'm checking this out from my phone atm, but once I get to my PC to download it, my wife will either put me in the dog house... ... Or pick up that second controller!
WAU. I see LOT of IMPROVEMENTS. 1-Gambit nice combos, glowing staff, ground bash, air attack improved with basic attack and card combos 2-Psylocke with Special Blade Attack, Air blade combos spinning as well, and i must say that those basic combos combined with air attacks are AWESOME ..it makes her so FAST and the most unpredictable and beautiful character. The same i can say with 3-Wolverine how he can combine classic attack moves with big AIR SLASH, +combos without adamantium claws make it perfect to keep his techniques FRESH. 4-BEAST on other hand is looking like he have some GLITCH ..that can´t bumpy jump like jojo effect on Genosha Robot head, or his special spinning breakdance leg attack doesn´t look like he is hitting any Big Pixelated Sentinels that looks little ugly to me but the variations of robot look really improved this game in so much better way. 5-Cyclops looks so GOOD. I see so many optic blasts variations that could be combined with an basic+air combos. This is so COOL with +grab blasting eye .. what to say? Just ... ==WAU==. BIG THUMB UP. == LOVE HIM SO MUCH :) == 6-Storm looks so different and have really SICK MANGA moves that looks so COOL. Her moves looks like CRAZY unpredictable but at same time her character looks so GENTLE. She is so powerful with cool lightning variations + Big FROZEN weather. Looks like she have problem to hit smaller aliens or fly on higher pattern to pick some items, but the amount of ideas and work putted on her was the BEST in history of all X-men game characters that nobody does until you guys. I don´t know if other artists was afraid to create her complicated powerful character with fly abilities the same as ROGUE and put her into classic pixel games in 80´s 90´s games BUT you DID IT and she is AWESOME. 7-Looks like Colossus have some new skills i see with rotating wrestling grab that looks interesting but somehow i can´t enjoy his circus look body suit posture from 80´s too much. Maybe my problem but on the OTHER PERSPECTIVE the way how Jim Lee draw him later in 90´s makes him the best looking character in history of X-men with his shiny metal muscle bodybuilder style that shines on every comic cover when he appear. The hologram stage with random wall changing ability makes this stage the BEST from all stages. It creates so much nostalgia memories at the same time while fighting other bosses and last boss of stage Nimrod itself. WELL MADE. BIG CONGRATULATION for the MOST CREATIVE IDEA. 8-Mystique is like KILLER MACHINE with her FASTEST killer long LEG combos that are combined well with her Pistol Shoot that GETS ME every time i watch her changing body look or killing so fast with salto or other abilities like in 90´s EVENING MOVIE. Love to WATCH every time speedrunners on youtube choose to play with her. 9-Horses of Apocalypse makes me little confused to see them flying like crazy all around Cabalist but IDEA looks Great. I had feeling like i m seeing some color circus the way look Cabalist and chaotic horses flying combined all around in stage but i must say that body of Cabalist looks solid with his deep black color muscular art moves. BIG APPLAUSE to any artist for that. On other side Cyborg sprite have feeling of incomplete art, look more gentle like Manga style, missing deep feeling in his body weight. Maybe more dark pixels that detail his muscular body moves much more would fix it because he look bigger and not suit well to other art characters. Just my feeling. The same with grenadier enemy. Can´t say that he suits to this game the way with his helm and move of throwing grenade but it is good improvement to the game itself, looks like Golden Axe enemy putted into game but it really is a good change instead of kneeling soldier from old version of game. 10-Apocalypse FIGHT is MASTERPIECE and Really GET ME :) His FAST UP and DOWN GROWING ability is AWESOME with so many practical skills to kill any player that suits well of showing his MOLECULAR MASTERPIECE ability. 11-Looks like Rogue can really hit with hear Fists in many different WAYS that makes her GREAT. Combined with others ability of fellow X-men makes JOY playing with her. Missing only change in Gambit stage of Final flying Boss of pilot vehicle, Toad is good idea but cutting this pilot machine is like cutting Genosha Train boss from other stage the same as big flying Sentinel. But i think you had a GOOD REASON to CUT all of those bosses from game. CONCLUSION: Hope i didn´t touch anyone heart with my personal view perspective but i see a LOT of GREAT IMPROVEMENTS in GAME, and i LOVE how X-men Characters get so many NEW variation moves to create even better NEW COMBOS not only with basic attacks but in air too. BIG APPLAUSE to ALL ARTISTS and DEVELOPERS :) BIG THANK YOU to all of you that the game looks really FRESH and moves get feeling like in ´´FLOW´´ MORE EVER THEN BEFORE. This was one of my very first SNES games I was a die-hard X-Men fan especially to the Saturday morning cartoon this game was definitely a must-have back in the day
Excellent work. Especially on Psylocke and Storm!!! Storm as a playable was what the original games were missing! Rogue was creative too. Don't think I've seen her be able to use such a diverse powerset in any videogame from the 90s or 2000s. Came here wanting to see Storm who is my favorite, but then found Mystique's play here is the best. Transforming to confuse the enemy is awesome!!!

I love how some of the moves were pulled from other X-Men/Marvel games (like X-Men: COTA, X-Men 2: Clone Wars, Marvel Super Heroes, etc). The sheathing of Wolverine's claws came from the first X-Men game on the Sega Genesis; other X-Men games didn't have that feature.
i love this sega genesis x-men, the gambit jump spin, nightcrawler walk and other references comes from there too, like Archangel ultra, cyclops hold button to aim and gambit hold to charge card.
This is amazing!! It’s so vexing to me why NO gaming company has officially remade a multi player walk through X-men game. Hell, make it like overwatch with X-men. We need that old school arcade multiplayer walk through remake!!

VEJA que na gameplay da Mistica, temos ela com o traje branco da animação classica de 97 e os quadrinhos, mas ela tbm assume uma forma sem essa roupa, versão essa dos filmes da FOX dos anos 2000. Ele teve o cuidado de mudar o combate dela dependendo da forma da personagem.

Então segura, rs - Curti o efeito da agua, qual foi a gambiarra? - Sugiro trocar os frontlayer por fglayer, pq fglayer se move com a câmera no quake, já frontlayer fica estático e fica estranho. O mesmo para essa parede aos 11:27 - Groxo não tem o tradicional ataque com a língua? Achei ele um pouco simples. - sabe a batalha do trem? Vc poderia fazer o trem ir diminuindo a velocidade da fase até parar. Basta mudar o levelproperty "bgspeed", fica bem legal - Acho que falta um pouco de vida nos cenários. Sabe a parte das plataformas do Sabretooth? Vc podia animar essas luzes amarelas usando Neon. Fica simples, mas já ajuda bastante. - 18:32 nas plataformas de cima, o wolverine não pisa no meio delas mas pisa meio que fora delas (alias, bem legal essa corrida dele) - Brood Queen ficou show! - a lava estática na fase do Tusk fica muito estranha :( - 27:25 dá uma olhada no pause do ataque da vampira, pq como ela acerta varios inimigos no ar, ela fica parada no ar por causa disso. - Gostei da lava animada naquela parte que vc tem que fugir dela. O alpha ficou bom ;) - Apoc crescendo no ataque ficou bom tbem - A sala de perigo ficou bem legal! - Exodus tem aquele mesmo problema do spawn que te falei - ele simplesmente cai do céu. Como ele voa, ele poderia descer lentamente na tela. Trabalho formidável, ZVitor 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Gostei demais da atualização do modo, ficando muito mais parecido coma versão original do game. Aliás, a sua versão está bem mais completa que a original. Quem jogou sabe que nas primeiras fases de cada personagem nao tinha nenhum vilão icônico dos X-Men. Voce acrescentou, em todas elas, ao menos 1 boss irado. Alguns poderiam sim ter mais recursos, como o Groxo ou o Dentes de Sabre. Mas não faz falta alguma, se pararmos pra apreciar toda a grandiosidade do restante do enredo e elenco. Cada personagem é único e tem seu próprio estilo e complexidade. Fica o meu agradecimento e admiração 🙌🏼 Quem critica, não deve ter noção do trabalho que dá e não entende que a proposta é ser um remake, mantendo inimigos e cenarios semelhantes, justamente para garantir a sensação de nostalgia e, de certa forma, homenagear o game original. Remake fantástico do X-Men Mutant Apocalypse. Os sprites dos personagens ficaram perfeitos e as fases do jogo ficaram lindas. Faça mais jogos assim. Parabéns !!!
Uma pena que não deu para adaptar o chefão aéreo por conta da falta de ataque anti-aéreo em todos os personagens. Porém, mano Zvitor, se quiser, eu bolo um conceito de ataque para os personagens nesse sentido, exigindo somente o mínimo de edição. ;)
Demorei 1 dia e meio pra trocar a animação de pegar o rádio de ajuda, só trocar de nome pra não ser a mesma de pegar itens, que era uma gambiarra feita 10 anos atrás, além dos 100 personagens tem os modos especiais, deve ser uns 120 então

I love the speed of new moves and combinations from x-men 2 and mountain apocalypse, but the graphics on the snes mutant apocalypse are still a little better, and the characters look bigger on the snes
watching this I'd like to see each person with their hyper X move. Maybe being able to do some the MVC moves, like Gambits Kinetic Card. More of them as I saw most everyones. moves

I'm not sure. I thought cool the addition of the new characters, but I don't know if is possible make transition windows between stage each character in openbor. However the fan game is wonderful.
Enjoyed the video. You mentioned that you changed the semi 3d movement to basically a side scrolling system and thus made the game significantly more difficult because you could not dodge certain attacks as well as other changes to make the game easier for us to watch. That explains some of the difficulty and the game play. I was wondering, do all the X-men special moves do about the same amount of damage or are they tuned to each character? I am not a game designer, but it feels like the damage seems low. The specials do not seem to do that much more damage than a regular punch or kick. I am not insulting the game at all, I'm just offering feedback that a regular bad guy should not be able to to tank 20 of Gambit's card throws, or 10 of Cyclops's optic blasts. Not sure if there is a way of increase the cost of using Xmen abilities, but increasing the reward. I am sure you scaled the special move damage based on availability. Basically, you have the abilities all the time, so it would be unbalanced to be able to just clear the screen of bad guys every 5 seconds. Again, it just seemed these bad guys were way too tough. Tanking multiple combos, AND X-men moves and coming back for more. It is a fine balance, and you have done a great job. WAY better than I would have done. Thank you again for the video, the game is beautiful!
Thanks, special damages are not so big, otherwise player will overuse it, best thing about special is because you are invencible while doing it, this game is Marvel Infinity War, a beatnup, so Gambit special is more usefull at 3d floor levels, this X-Men mode is a homage, so is 2D, and some chars are not well addapeted to this levels, there are others modes like X-Men Konami to Arcade, check last channel videos and you can understand better.
yes to Cable, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Jubilee and Jean Grey. No to Morph and Sabretooth, Check the playlist 100 Marvel chars, all are playable at this mode.
Já gostei do que vi, principalmente por ter a Mística e a Vampira. Não sei como serão os golpes por botão ou sequencia como no SNES [por botão acho mais pratico], mas não vejo a hora de poder joga-lo.
Excelente trabalho. Em 22:57 conforme o cenário desce, a pedra a esquerda ficou flutuando no cenário. Triste que em 30:58 não tem como quebrar as portas e liberar os reféns.

I love how some of the moves were pulled from other X-Men/Marvel games (like X-Men: COTA, X-Men 2: Clone Wars, Marvel Super Heroes, etc). The sheathing of Wolverine's claws came from the first X-Men game on the Sega Genesis; other X-Men games didn't have that feature.
i love this sega genesis x-men, the gambit jump spin, nightcrawler walk and other references comes from there too, like Archangel ultra, cyclops hold button to aim and gambit hold to charge card.
I think it's cool mystique from the movies is considered another form for close combat.

VEJA que na gameplay da Mistica, temos ela com o traje branco da animação classica de 97 e os quadrinhos, mas ela tbm assume uma forma sem essa roupa, versão essa dos filmes da FOX dos anos 2000. Ele teve o cuidado de mudar o combate dela dependendo da forma da personagem.

- Acho que falta um pouco de vida nos cenários. Sabe a parte das plataformas do Sabretooth? Vc podia animar essas luzes amarelas usando Neon. Fica simples, mas já ajuda bastante.
- 18:32 nas plataformas de cima, o wolverine não pisa no meio delas mas pisa meio que fora delas (alias, bem legal essa corrida dele)

- a lava estática na fase do Tusk fica muito estranha :(
- 27:25 dá uma olhada no pause do ataque da vampira, pq como ela acerta varios inimigos no ar, ela fica parada no ar por causa disso.

Gostei demais da atualização do modo, ficando muito mais parecido coma versão original do game.
Aliás, a sua versão está bem mais completa que a original. Quem jogou sabe que nas primeiras fases de cada personagem nao tinha nenhum vilão icônico dos X-Men. Voce acrescentou, em todas elas, ao menos 1 boss irado. Alguns poderiam sim ter mais recursos, como o Groxo ou o Dentes de Sabre. Mas não faz falta alguma, se pararmos pra apreciar toda a grandiosidade do restante do enredo e elenco. Cada personagem é único e tem seu próprio estilo e complexidade.
Fica o meu agradecimento e admiração 🙌🏼
Quem critica, não deve ter noção do trabalho que dá e não entende que a proposta é ser um remake, mantendo inimigos e cenarios semelhantes, justamente para garantir a sensação de nostalgia e, de certa forma, homenagear o game original.

Demorei 1 dia e meio pra trocar a animação de pegar o rádio de ajuda, só trocar de nome pra não ser a mesma de pegar itens, que era uma gambiarra feita 10 anos atrás, além dos 100 personagens tem os modos especiais, deve ser uns 120 então

Enjoyed the video. You mentioned that you changed the semi 3d movement to basically a side scrolling system and thus made the game significantly more difficult because you could not dodge certain attacks as well as other changes to make the game easier for us to watch. That explains some of the difficulty and the game play.
I was wondering, do all the X-men special moves do about the same amount of damage or are they tuned to each character? I am not a game designer, but it feels like the damage seems low. The specials do not seem to do that much more damage than a regular punch or kick.
I am not insulting the game at all, I'm just offering feedback that a regular bad guy should not be able to to tank 20 of Gambit's card throws, or 10 of Cyclops's optic blasts. Not sure if there is a way of increase the cost of using Xmen abilities, but increasing the reward. I am sure you scaled the special move damage based on availability. Basically, you have the abilities all the time, so it would be unbalanced to be able to just clear the screen of bad guys every 5 seconds. Again, it just seemed these bad guys were way too tough. Tanking multiple combos, AND X-men moves and coming back for more. It is a fine balance, and you have done a great job. WAY better than I would have done.

Thanks, special damages are not so big, otherwise player will overuse it, best thing about special is because you are invencible while doing it, this game is Marvel Infinity War, a beatnup, so Gambit special is more usefull at 3d floor levels, this X-Men mode is a homage, so is 2D, and some chars are not well addapeted to this levels, there are others modes like X-Men Konami to Arcade, check last channel videos and you can understand better.

36:03 O Juggernaut deveria ter Endurace na hora que ele usar esse golpe aqui, e o Omega red deveria ser mais apelão e mais rapido.
