No joke, Magneto may not have been the best character gameplay-wise, but he was BY FAR my favourite to use. It was just so fun! And he always looked so super cool too! (I can relate to Cyclops' frustration at the end when they know Magneto and the X-Men will resume being enemies instead of remaining as allies)

However, it always annoyed me that the very first stage in which he's playable, he's actually one of the worst choices for it, if not THE worst. :/ Excellent playthrough! I was a good video game player growing up since I started playing them before I could read (born in '81), but I never truly challenged myself like this (with the exception of Ocarina of Time and my silly Iron Boots or Hover Boots with Broken Biggoron Sword run). Back then, I always considered beating a game on the hardest difficulty enough of a challenge to slake that particular desire, regardless of damage, deaths, and continues. Granted, I obviously did try to limit the amount of times I died/continued, but death is part of the game sometimes. :)
I'm not sure why but when I was a kid the first boss, the core, scared the hell out of me, I'm not sure why it did, but I think it was cause I let the voice "Aiyayayaya" get high pitched
It did use the Phalanx and the Brood, two of the creepier xmen enemies, as the main villains, plus some of the later levels had a bit of a low-key body-horror vibe.
always remember this epic X-MEN games looking just TOO DAMN GOOD for the Genesis era i think this were the games that showed the true ultimate capacity of this console and it still timeless to watch love X-MEN And remember kids WELCOME TO DIE!!

I tried the other games that people seem to "rate higher" like the snes one,.. that is garbage (most people rate it better because they were snes bias, like how i see contra snes rated higher that contra hard corps). It doesn't even compare. The graphics here is a LOT more faithful to their comics counterpart. I love the x-men blue team (sub rogue/jubilee for nightcrawler) + magneto. this was grounded to the comics as well. They are more agile here. Also, PSYLOCKE. I hate that she's getting forgotten as an X-men main.
First boss is stupid easy to win with Nightcrawler, just crowch, floor beams won't hit you and when the face hits at your direction simple disappear to evade and keep hitting.
From GameFaqs: "What you need to do is defeat all the Phalanx X-Men clones except for one. It doesn\'t matter what order you do it in just so long as all but one are dead. Now, once you\'ve done that, head back down to the very bottom of the area -- the end of the hallway where the Phalanx mech\'s claws turned into your character(s). Now, hit the wall to the left. If you do this, the wall should emit a circle of explosions which circle around twice and into a sort of close-eyed blank-looking smiley face.(Looks like this -> -_-) Now, head back up into the second room from the bottom on the right. This room should have a wall blocking your progression. However, if you did as I said, if you hit this small wall, it should shatter like glass. Walk into the room, and there, you will fight Phalanx-Magneto!"

Loved this game back in my Genesis days. Being able to play as Magneto made this game a dream come true.
One of the best Xmen games of all time. Still holds up to this day the soundtrack is just incredible. Fucking love this game

Played this game long time ago, I can say that Wolverine has the strongest supermove when maxed, killed most enemies in one slash.
Sprites of the characters are great!

Id use Magneto to defeat the boss @3:09 just have him float and shoot him. He never left that structure.
