When i was a kid back in the 90's we used to visit this video game store and check out a bunch of Sega Genesis games. They used to let us try out the game first before a purchase. I remember one day they had a drawing for this game. I told my dad I was going to enter and he said something like, "No one ever wins those things." About a week later we had a message on our answering machine (90's remember) that my name had been draw - so I basically got a free X-Men game. I was so happy, this is still my favorite X-Men game for the Genesis.
Funny is, that I read the Same Story with the exactly Same words, a few days ago under another retro gaming Video 😂 another game of course. But I Cant remember if It Was from the Same guy.
I remember being obsessed with this game. Literally playing it 24/7 all the time as a kid. It's actually really hard and it requires a lot of focus. That egyptian level was my favorite.
I'm pretty much the only one who thought it was amazing that the game starts you off with an intro stage once you boot it up, with no opening or intro or anything. It felt like a movie, sans the opening credits, and it's cool.
@@krisfrederick5001 my copy gave a lot of trouble starting up. I remember blowing the cartridge like hell but once it started you know......were good😎👍
I would always pick Nightcrawler and pause the game as I was teleporting to see each phase. If you catch it just right.. the whole screen would turn pink! That was so cool 2 me lol
By far, this is the very best X-MEN video game I have ever played. I have Mutant Apocalypse for the SNES and I used to think that was the best X title out there...but not anymore. This one totally shreds M.A without contest, imho. Not to say Mutant Apocalypse isn't cool, but when compared to Clone Wars, I found it much too easy and even bland at times. Capcom did a nice job with it's presentation and all, but the game is definitely lacking punch. The graphics in Clone Wars are really great for a 16 bit Genesis game and the music just rocks. I love the strong sound effects here. The game is very challenging in all the right areas and there are nifty tricks to get through each map without too much struggle. It's not as frustrating as I thought it would be. I love the character animations. I mostly use Psylocke and Wolverine. For a game that's over 20 years old...it's still pretty bad ass and fun to play.
In the 90s I remember renting X-Men games with my dad and him and I both being exposed to some massive disappointments in doing so (here’s looking at you NES titles). But I can’t understate how blown away we both were when we finally got Clone Wars home to enjoy. Our patience and frustrations were paid off by this beauty. Holds up massively well, too.
I remember first playing this game and thinking it was broken since there was no intro, just went straight into the level with a random character. Also, it was a Blockbuster rental without an instruction guide of course :p. Eventually I beat it one time, only one.
Oh my I feel like a kid again looking at this. I'm 29 years old now in the year of 2015 & can't believe this game is 20 years old. I played the shit outta this on Sega Channel back in the day.
I loved this game! We were the first kids on our street to get a Sega Genesis and this was our favorite game by far. We got it for Christmas that year but I think my dad bought it when it came out and just hid it from us really well.
When I played this game as a kid, I pick each X-MEN to fit each level. After the tundra level, I'd pick Gambit n Cyclops for the Sentinel level, Beast n Nightcrawler for the Avalon level, Magneto and Psylocke for Apocalypse's Temple, and Wolverine the rest of the way. All n all, awesome game.
***** I'm not saying this game is bad nor that the music in this game is bad. I'm saying that there were many X-Men games that came out after this one.

I remember this game. It started me off as a random character without any introduction or instructions. Totally crazy. But at least the level wasn't hard. I liked this game. For the time period it was pretty good.
I use to play this a lot in the 90s. Wish I could find a walkthrough on this game that came out in the 90s around this time. It was a baseball game for the genesis. The neighbors use to let me borrow a lot of their genesis games. Great playthrough....it brought back many memories.
I loved this game as a kid, incredible graphics and action. I use to play it alone, with my brother and my friends too. But it was so long and hard, I reached level 4 or 5 tops. These gameplay make look like a walk in the park, like all gameplays, but it was actually very hard. That was the only bad thing about it, it was extremely long and didn't have any password or code to go straight to some level.
Wow....SO many awesome memories luv, luv, LUVED this game!! No lie I watched this for almost a full 30 minutes without being able to watch the smile off of my face...:-D!! Plus you play it JUST the way I used to...being a life-long MASSive Nightcrawler fan the game almost felt like "The Adventures of NIGHTCRAWLER guest starring the X-Men" 'cause playing with the Fuzzy Elf and his power set were just TOO much FUN!! Thanks for the fond memories!!!
One of my favorite video games of all time. The colors, graphics, challenge, satisfaction, sound effects, and music (good lord that fucking soundtrack is amazing) were near perfection. If I had to choose a game that pushed the Genesis to it's max in every aspect, X-Men 2 would be my choice. No fat on this game whatsoever.
I remember all this stuff! Omg! I feel so old. I remember the first time I beat that boss and he turned into the clones, i was like "Wait, I'm not done?? Wth?" Even as a child lol. The level was so long. I also loved how the music changed on certain levels depending on who you picked. Awesome game.
Actually, the spiked platform on the left where it stops moving before moving to the right; you're supposed to land ontop of that spiked platform and then jump onto the vertical one.. I didn't even realise it was possible the way this guy did it
my absolute favorite X-Men game. perfect music, perfect gameplay. they got the mutant powers right, that had a female character. and then they mess up and give us the worst ending, lol
I remember playing this game before, but I never made it to the end. And you know I think Wolverine is one of the best X-Men mutants to use in the game because of his claws and the way he defeats his opponents.
Damn I miss the early 2000s when my uncle handed me down his Sega Genesis had this, Beavis and Butt-head, Shinobi, Ghouls and Ghost, Ahh Real Monsters, Skitchin and soooo many more cold games..... Also the music from the second level been stuck in my head after all these years lol

Loved this game, I always played as Beast, my favourite x-man. Shame after this and the SNES x-men game, there were very few appearances of him, except in a ps1 game I think?
Extremely hard and long and without passwords or anything to resume the game from some level. This gameplay make it look like a piece of cake, like all gameplays, but it was not easy at all.
The Sentinel Complex (while it's exploding) always scared me as a kid. Everything glows red, there's explosions all over the place, and the screen shakes from left to right making it hard to see what's ahead. And you have a time limit to deal with. If the timer reaches zero before you enter through the emergency exit, you're automatically dead. And playing this level with two players makes it worse. And the bosses of these stages I never saw in any other X-Men media, except the elevator stage boss, who I've seen in the ending of X-Men: Children Of The Atom.
i sucked so bad at this game as a kid. i never made it past that first aztec jungle level. also, that first boss was really spooky cause of the sound it made.
