Never grew up playing golden axe but I was at a arcade a few months ago with my dad he found this game. He told me to stop what I was playing and play this game with him. We went on to play golden axe for about 45 minutes straight and ended up beating the entire thing. He told me all about how he loved this game when he was younger and how him and his brothers used to play it. Was an unforgettable experience. Love playing old arcade games with my dad :)
I can't believe they never put this on a console. The amount of love that they put into this is unreal! Strapping catapults to the back of your mount among everything else is awesome! What a beautiful game for its time.

Spectacular. Old school 2D Arcade games (the goood ones) have an air of grandisosity, big production, top of the game product that even most of 2D games nowadays lack. I love the scroll in the 1st stage with the big mountains, the cascade, the enemies, the weapons, music... top class enterntainment
What really stands out to me is the sprite work in this game. I'd argue that it's a few years ahead of its time for 1992 - not so much in technological or animation terms (though those are nothing to exactly sneeze at either here), but more so the color palettes and the shading techniques used to actually draw sprites.

99% of the world only had $hitty consoles ports of these games. The rest literally had no access, let alone Arcade Cabinets even near their living place. Its truly pitiful.

Simpsons, AVP, and Hook too... But this one is the best IMO... I remember seeing this in the 90s, the graphics is waay ahead of its time.. The stages the mounts, just lets your imagination fly...
A fantastic sequel...i played it to Death(literally) at the arcades...this type of games i really love playing...Myth/Gods/Deliverance/Moonstone on the Amiga...Barbarian 1,2 on the c64...Rastan Saga...God of War on the playstation consoles...i love this type of games...also a big fan of the Conan comics/movies.

Sadly yes, he sacrificed himself. The thing about it is that it seemed like he was dying anyway since he was being carried around by that giant man already so in the sense of the story he goes downs fighting giving the last hit. In a way it makes HIM the actual Hero of Golden Axe, since you know, in the first game he actually has a Golden Axe.
This brought back many memories deeply engraved in my heart! I was really good at this game but unfortunately at the expense of my studies lol… Then I was seriously addicted n kept playing truant jus to b able to hop by local arcade shop for few hrs of "practices" religiously 2-3 times per week! Sweet n sour memories I must say but it stays with me till now, 30 yrs later!

Maaaan I loved this game when I was a child. Everything on it blowed my mind. The soundtrack really made me feel in the warzone, I loved how you could ride those giant insects, and furthermore, you could put a weapon above! 🤯🤯🤯 Also how there are options to reach the castle and the vertical walking parts. Bro I loved everything about this arcade. Was fun to see it again. Thanks!😊
