This is currently the best in-depth presentation of the new Wild out there! Period! Detailed views and explanations... answers to actual burning questions, and not just glancing over Orbea's marketing materials. I also love that you didn't clean the bike, but showcased it as close to "real life" as possible. You asked us what we wanted to see... and you actually delivered! Respect to you for that! Thank you, Rob!
Your comment about the chainstay length is so true. As a taller rider you have to raise the seat upwards and as it goes up your weight moves back along the angled seatpost. I wish XL frames also came with longer chainstay. Very few bike designers do that!
I used this review as part of my decision to buy the 2023 M-Team, but it unfortunately sold out, so I waited for the 2024 M-Team which is exactly the same as the previous years model, I’m 6’2”, the L was perfect for me, I went with the upgraded 170mm fork, 175mm fox dropper, the Maxxis tyres, and the kiox 300 display, the rear shock needs an adapter so you can get air in it, that’s a right pain until you get use to it, got it 6 months ago. Have never looked back. Absolutely love it. It’s won best E-MTB for the last 2 yrs running, think that tells you something, can’t recommend it highly enough.
Thanks Rob for asking and answering the XXL size question. :) I'm happy that you have already got nice experiences on the Pole Voima. :) Now I'm waiting for my Ghost E-Riot Enduro B625 XL (test) bike that I pre-ordered more than 1.5 year ago. It has 528mm Reach, 455mm CS, 1353mm WB, and 64/77 degs. I wish you could also test this bike it would help our sales a lot. :)
Really nice bike . Had a Wild a couple of years ago, before it was stolen and loved it. If that little opening on the down tube is for an extender, then it's top of my list for new bike.
My this week purchased, brand new Wild 2022 is sitting unused in my spare bedroom await a good lock and some protective film and some new coloured grips and a new SRAM derailleur. Rode it around the shop court-yard and am totally bowled over in love. It is called delayed gratification.
Tbo I prefer the kiox screen, it gives you all the info and no need to fluff around with apps etc. Have to agree with the 29er f+r my last 2 bike have been mullets but now on a full 29er I'm not going back it rolls over chunk so much better.
I had the old Wild FS and this year I wanted to upgrade. Waited for the new Wild model but in the end I chose the Specialized Levo Comp. I hoped that Orbea will add the possibility to run as a mullet but this didn’t happen. Also for me the fixed battery was a blocker.
@@fzr1000981 it’s still a decent bike. It looks nice and rides well. I think it is a good buy second hand. I sold it because I wanted something more agile and preferably a mullet.

I enjoy your high video / sound quality and easy delivery /technical content on ebikes. I was particularly interested in this particular video because I bought the Orbea Wild H20 two months ago after watching rave videos on RUclips, the last bike I bought after RUclips endorsement was the entry model Specialized Turbo Levo which I loved (2019) - got stolen! My concern is that the Ebike brands are soliciting paid reviews of their top, most expensive models from the popular RUclips channels, tellingly these paid reviews all come out at the same time, literally. There is a big problem with this platform - the reviews profusely embellish the super expensive bikes (some of which may be true of course), however, ordinary joe like me are much more likely to buy the entry level bikes in the hope that they ride very similar to the top models. EMTB - ordinary joe/jane - middle aged with kids, short on time, relatively new to or returned to biking, investing oversized sum to feed his/her hobby. None of the top earning channels review the entry level bikes, nor do they actually say anything negative because of the conflict of interest. Hence, it is not clear, who is this bike for? The beginner, or the pro downhill enduro ace? We hear far too many numbers - so many millimetres or angles this and that (chain stay, BB, reach etc.) and not enough about how they ride and whether these bikes are value for money? Hence, the RUclips channels are complicit in letting the industry get away with hastily thrown together lower end bikes that are seriously flawed, and still demand thousands of dollars/pounds/euros! My view after 2 month ownership is a degree of disappointment. The H20 is a monster truck, way too heavy, I did not expect that given that the top product is 20.8Kg! This is a major problem for intermediate/ early biker. The sheer weight detracts from being able to jump, turn, develop skill, and the poor fork/suspension platform can only described as dull and lacklustre. The internal battery and the ridiculous complicated headset with internal cables is just nuts. Importantly, something you did not point out - this is a front heavy bike, much more noticeable in my size small bike with big 750 battery taking up the whole length of the down tube. It is difficult to convince this bike to jump (more speed, more hop) and then control the tendency of front end dipping. Why oh why do I have to spend several thousand of hard earned cash to bring it up to speed? Should I really even try to bring the weight down - not possible. The result is that 2 months down the line, I am desperately trying to sell the bike and buy a Specialized - the market, as it is, I can't even get half price for a 2 month old bike. I do not believe the Orbea Wild 2023 Alloy models are value for money - period. It turns out, all the R&D went in to developing the carbon race winning models. There is a unhealthy collusion between industry and channels/social platforms that promote these bikes - it makes it impossible to get an honest view of products that are more expensive than the cars we drive.
Battery extender maybe? I would certainly need it as I'm a bit of a gas guzzler! Especially as you're not able to remove the battery and change it during your ride, as I do so right now with my 2021 Orbea Wild. Great informative video.
That little plastic port up the down tube will be what's holding the battery shield in place - on the old wild fs there was a little plastic triangle there, the bolt went in from inside the downtube - looks like the bolt is on the outside of the downtube this time
I'm ready to trade my brand new rise that has been ridden maybe 2-3 times, for this sweet looking wild with the CX race motor. Wish you could get a base model with the CX motor, and get some of the nice color options too; without having to spend 10k.
Beautiful bike. However, when it comes to transportation in winter on a towbar rack, non-removable battery is a deal breaker for me. Stealth version of Smart System is also problematic to bikers who like to have a top tube bag.
@@RobRidesEMTB guess this are things you will only notice over time when the battery degrades faster than one that was never exposed to such extreme temperatures.
Possibly, but tend to keep all batteries stored outside anyway, not really had any issues with degradation- as long as they are not left deep discharged and at cold temps I’ve found they work fine.
I believe the bigger concern is charging in below freezing temps. Very glad I have an EMTB with a removable battery, bringing my bike inside to charge is nearly impossible. I guess the tradeoff is a little more weight but whatever.
Yea my giant reign e+ would not charge past 60-70% out in the shed this year. Thought the battery was knackered but read giant website and it said the gel inside just gets thicker when cold, took it inside and charged fully so taking it off now to charge inside till temps go up abit
Great video as always Rob, I absolutely love this bike and can’t wait to get hold of an M10. Personal highlight was the totally believable bit about the mysterious screw hole on the down tube that no one knows about 😂 come on Orbea just announce the battery extender, it would help people decide on speccing a 625 with the extender option. I’m completely with you on cables through the headset, it’ll be the standard within 2 years, it looks much cleaner and for marginal more work, people just love to moan however although I personally prefer non removable battery I can understand this will divide opinion.
@@KurtRWalker I’ve got a 625 currently and for 90% of my rides it’s enough however when doing a pedal pass at BPW I charge my battery over lunch which I wouldn’t be able to do with this new Orbea so I’m with you on the 750 plus range extender, that’s genuine all day riding!
Hmmmmm the first press was about a very light emtb. Those numbers are not crazy light compared to my 700wh. alu levo. Looking forward to the ride review. Thanks for the great vids!
Thanks Rob. Another great video. Is this a 2023 LTD model? Why is the color different vs what’s on their website? Regarding those wheel magnets, does it use a different type of valve to keep those magnets in place? Or can one use the Reserve Fillmore valves?
250 miles in an my bottom headset bearing is nackered from water getting in. Also the top cap under the stem had cracked. Pain in the ass the change out too 😢
On the battery removal, this is no different to the rise so not sure why it's a problem. I have an M10 Myo due soon and can't wait. Its replacing my 2020 M10 and tbh I don't really take the battery out that much. Can't wait. One thing, I can't seem to get a frame protection kit yet. Hopefully be available soon.
Great review and a beautiful bike. I'm the same height 191 cm/ 6.3 feet and I'm currently buying an electric bike and you made me worried about sizing. Wild has high XL size numbers 505 reach, 648 stack, 650 TT and you feel it is on the small side, not many XXL ebikes out there..
Nice in depth look on the Wild Rob, one question regarding the cables running through the bearing...say you crash...we all do soner or later right. What would happen to the cables if the stem would turn as a consequence of the crash, am I thinking right that the cables would get pinched or worst case scenario cut...?
@SkyGuy hey I know, there is a ring that is clamping(one tiny bolt) the stearer tube...that force is the only thing keeping the whole assembly from rotating to much. From my understanding...I have seen the lock block headset in person, the stem however has no physical connection to this assembly, it is bolted the same as any other stem, so with enough force the stem would rotate. The problem with orbeas system is that they have put the cables along side of the stem. If the cables would be in front of the stem or a bit lower like canyon for example does it...that would not be an issue. Could be wrong, but from my technical knowledge I think that this kind of a bad scenario is possible.
Still waiting on the distributor to get slots for the M10's!!! Interesting to see the in-depth look on the staggered wheels! Didn't know this! Would have loved to see if the HUBS were 350, 350 Hybrid, 240, or if they considered at least the steel ratchets or steel freehub body (OEM on the Hybrids). You know, the Bosch torque tends to destroy cheap rear hubs. Heheheh
Rob the main problem with integrated headset cables routing it's not for replacing the bearings but the grease renewal around the bearing itself and it's hole, this needs to be done almost every 3 months on mountain bikes, especially if you wash them a lot or if you're riding on dry and dusty terrains, in my 2 bikes from 2021 (1 ebike and 1 regular MTB) i had to do this about 12 times or what you get it's a continuos boring crunch from your headset. I really hope this is just the 2023 fashion because i won't buy any bike which are adopting this system, very nice to see? Yes indeed, Practical about regular maintenance? nope it's nothing else but a hell kind of invention. What bothers me for the most is i would buy that ebike instantly; it's just superb the technology and the components are just amazing (including Galfer disk rotors) and the color is stunning not talking about geometry, that's my dream bike i would say but with a huge flaw: the hoses integrated in the headset, being myself my own maintainer and mechanic.
It’s also a nightmare if you crash the bike which we all do every now and then and the stem spins pushing the top bearing washer cover and cuts the cables like have happened to me and so many others and it’s new wiring required and possible brake lines
Hi Rob. Just a great review once again. I'm totally sold on Wild, but I have one problem which some other people experience. It's not with the bike but with the manufacturer of the bike/dealer network. First of all, no one can tell me when the bike is going to be available in my area (Northern California), second, when trying to order the bike from the Orbea website I'm not allowed to choose the dealer nearby, in my case would be Mike's Bike in Roseville CA. I'm being sent 500 miles away to Utha to pick up the bike. I emailed Orbea, and talk to local dealers/Orbea reps. no one knows what is going on. I know that this has nothing to do with the bike itself (looks like is awesome) it is giving me a pose thinking about Orbea support in the future if things go wrong. I'm hoping that someone from the Orbea team might see this not-so-positive opinion and comes up with some answers.
Great review, couple questions screw tabs on back of forks? I suppose the cables in the head set turn with the bars. Would have liked to see that in action. Thx
Another awesome honest review thanks Rod!!! I have a 2021 h10 wild its been an amazing bike, but living in Canada I need to store my battery in the warm house so unfortunately that's a deal breaker for me...I love the extra battery option 1,125 wh of juice is sweet, like others here I also think the extra port on the down tube is for a aux battery in the near future either that or maybe a service port for the dealerships to check the battery with their lap top? After watching all your review vids Rob I know how you hate the big star trek controllers from the smart system I hate not having an simple outside air temp guage(thermometer} with all the damn tech that they put into these e-bikes come on Bosch get with the program lol !!!
Hey great review, I have the Orbea Wild 2021 and love this looks a great upgrade. Re the unknown port in the frame my guess would be for the wiring harness for the second battery which Orbea offer on the older models.
curious to hear you say Rob that you'd like this XL to be longer, or there to be an XXL, as I thought you'd chosen to adapt yourself to smaller bikes - I think you ran a Rail in Large (reach 491) - or was that experiment not a success?
@@Gufolicious Fit enough thanks and besides, why have a nice bike that you cant remove the battery and have to store the bike in a cold outside garage or shed during winter if you cant bring it indoors?? Not good for the battery so this bike, as nice as it is, it can go whistle 👍
@@OldNorthern_eMTBerI will keep it indoors so works for me. We all need different stuff, if it's not fiting your life just go for another one, perfect.
Nice video. However, I have a little question. If I recall didn’t you mention on the ebike form that you had a should have video about an ebike with the m620 by February. I could be mistaken, just excited for the video, if I remember correctly.
That front brake cable really stands out now.... Hey Orbea, run that front brake cable through the fork leg and out the hub axle for that full super kool look, I mean are you even trying?? Now every time I take the front wheel off I will have to rebleed the front brake, but I mean it looks so kool and clean, right??
built-in battery completely ruins this amazing bike. it's a pity do you know anything about the range extender? this could improve the situation. maybe this port is just for him
I'm just curious, why it took half a decade !! for Orbea (other brands too, however new Wild is 2 years behind Specialized Turbo Levo gen3 !) to create ebike with decent geometry ??? (comparing to my analog bike from 2018, which is quite similar). Is it because ebikes were targeting (were designed for) sunday warriors/MAMILs before and not for racing/professionals/aggressive riders ? and now, when ebikes started to be more popular among fast riders, it's time to make them more aggressive ? Controls looks way better than before, but still not as smooth as on Levo
Hey Rob, thanks for this video! I used to ride a SC Bullit in size XL (perfect size for me) and am now in the market for the new Wild. Dealers don’t have it in store yet in my area. I’m 186cm and indecisive if L or XL would be the better choice comparing it to the specs of the Bullit. Any thought? 🙏🏻
Hi Rob, I want to consult with you about the size of this amazing bike, im about to order the 2024 model and my hight is 1.80 m. Im trying to figure out if I need to take the medium or large size, now im riding the wild 2022 on large aize but I saw that in the new geometry (2023) the reach, wheel base, stack and probably everything is larger on the medium size comparing to the 2022 large size. I also heard that you say that this bike is more on the smaller scale and thats why im dought maybe the new large size will be to big for me. Appriciate any help, Thank you, Yuval
The main issue I have with a 29er rear is buzzing my nuts on very steep stuff because I'm not as tall as you. Such a shame they haven't included a flip chip (or some other means of lowering the rear axle), which is such a simple thing to add to give buyers the flexibility they need. It's all very suitable for me otherwise, but I won't be buying one unless a properly designed mullet option was created for it.
I loved your video comparing the weights of the Al versus carbon Rise. How much heavier is the Wild versus the Rise if equipped the same(same tires and battery)? Thanks for the great videos!
I’ve ridden both old and new models. The new one is lighter and more agile like a Levo gen 3. I just hope ANT+ LEV is supported because battery bars are awful.
Hi Rob! Firstly I need to say, that you always do great videos and also the infos you put together is super cool! I would like to know, if it is possible to flip the rear shock bei 180 degrees at the WILD to access the lock-out?? Secondly I would like to know, if the internal routing of the brake line is done similar to the ORBEA RISE. If so I assume the same issues….I guess the little opening on the lower tube, near the battery is a kind of service access point, to make it a little easier when changing the brake tube. However, as it seems ORBEA did not invesst to much engineering in this internal routing, the cables and tubes may be sqeezed or clamped in between the frame and the internal battery, during the assambly of the bike in the factory. It was like this at my ORBEA Rise. Which meant, that I‘ve had to drop the motor to change the brake tubing…….would be interesting so know, if ORBEA changed anything about this. The thing with the routing through the stem….I don‘t know. I love if I could use „old parts“ and recycle things. So if the bike industry „invents“ every 2 years new things, which don‘t improve the performace of the bike - I‘m not a fan. Internal routing okay, but at the end the internal routing never made a bike faster or a ride better! My opinion. BUT grreat veideo, great content!! Thanks for sharing !!
Yeah, i hope so. Thanks to your previous VIDEOS i set my heart on this model, and want to drive to Orbea from Lisbon to buy one. But from what you say, I would probably need an XXL. I love a decent reach with my long back! Yup, and chainstairs would be better longer, too. Oh, well, next year then.😢😢 Rob, you r my height! What current full power e-mtb has the best geometry for guys like us, please?
I could easily ride this XL on enduro courses. In fact, if there was a longer version with the same size rear chainstay I’d go for this XL version because it will have a better weight distribution between front and rear. Same on the Trek Rail, I downsized to Large to get a more balanced bike. BUT if they increased chainstay AND reach then I’d be up for that!
Rob, have you looked at the Mondraker Crafty? Very similar to the Orbea in many ways but 455mm chainstays. I am the same height as you and had one last year, amazing bike. I might get another one!

Hmmmmm the first press was about a very light emtb. Those numbers are not crazy light compared to my 700wh. alu levo. Looking forward to the ride review. Thanks for the great vids!
@17m its the batter top securing mount
….it’s damn sexy!!!! Never been a fan of the looks of Orbea. But now I am!
Pain in the ass the change out too 😢
I guess the mysterious port is a range extender / for extra juice.
Shame about the lack of a range extender. That was something that really set the last one apart.
Listen to the laugh at 17:31 I’d suggest there’s a battery extender coming that Orbea probably haven’t lifted the NDA on yet 😉
That's the access port to the flux-capacitor.
Nice in depth look on the Wild Rob, one question regarding the cables running through the bearing...say you crash...we all do soner or later right. What would happen to the cables if the stem would turn as a consequence of the crash, am I thinking right that the cables would get pinched or worst case scenario cut...?
I believe there is a mechanism inside keeping the bars from turning fully.
Great improvement to your audio and excellent 4K video - may I ask what camera and kens you shot this on?
Thanks! Sony A7SIII and 24-105 lens
Thought I recognised my camera ! Thanks
Hi is 29' rear wheel a bit too much for shorter riders in steep downhill terrain?
Still waiting on the distributor to get slots for the M10's!!! Interesting to see the in-depth look on the staggered wheels! Didn't know this! Would have loved to see if the HUBS were 350, 350 Hybrid, 240, or if they considered at least the steel ratchets or steel freehub body (OEM on the Hybrids). You know, the Bosch torque tends to destroy cheap rear hubs. Heheheh
Suggest port could be for piggy back battery
I need an XXL. There's plenty of 6ft 2" plus riders. Let's hope Orbea produce a number of them
Looks amazing, looking at placing an order, thats galactic rainbow colour spec?
Hey great review, I have the Orbea Wild 2021 and love this looks a great upgrade. Re the unknown port in the frame my guess would be for the wiring harness for the second battery which Orbea offer on the older models.
curious to hear you say Rob that you'd like this XL to be longer, or there to be an XXL, as I thought you'd chosen to adapt yourself to smaller bikes - I think you ran a Rail in Large (reach 491) - or was that experiment not a success?
Amazing video. I just got delivery of a Wild M10. What’s your long-term opinion about the 38mm Rise of the Burgtec handlebar?
Wich bike you think is best orbea wild m11 axs 2024 or Specialized Levo pro carbon or Santa Cruz vala ?
You can't take the battery out. No good for BIG epic adventures! I'll stick with my 2020 M10 thanks 👍
maybe get fitter for your long epic adventure lol.
@@Gufolicious Fit enough thanks and besides, why have a nice bike that you cant remove the battery and have to store the bike in a cold outside garage or shed during winter if you cant bring it indoors?? Not good for the battery so this bike, as nice as it is, it can go whistle 👍
@@OldNorthern_eMTBer removable batteries are hassle. Water ingress and battery fitment will be issues sooner or later.
@@kevinkeelan354 Never had an issue in the 3 years I've had it. Maybe you were/are unlucky with the problems you have/are experiencing with your bike?
@@OldNorthern_eMTBerI will keep it indoors so works for me. We all need different stuff, if it's not fiting your life just go for another one, perfect.
Great video! What is the name of the stand holding up the bike? I really like it and would like to purchase one. Thank you!
Hi Rob. Why did you change to 2.5/2.4 tires vs the stock 2.6?
Nice video. However, I have a little question. If I recall didn’t you mention on the ebike form that you had a should have video about an ebike with the m620 by February. I could be mistaken, just excited for the video, if I remember correctly.
Is the little port for releasing the battery out of the frame. It must be fixed at the top.
Hi Rob, do you know when the first bikes come in the stores in Europe?
Hi Peter, they are due anytime now, should be by end of feb
Hello Rob! i want to build a dream bike based on Orbea wild Al E bike frame . Can it be bought as "frame only" ?
Wondering if that port is to get to the battery reset switch or maybe a range extender option in the pipeline?
Is the port on the downtube for a possible range extender?
A simple question, would you choose this Orbea or the custom build Kenevo? Regards
Just taken delivery of the new M10. Question for Rob, have you heard a click when you turn the handle bars from left and right in the bike you tested?
Great video….lots of details. I thought only the 160 forks were listed as having e-tune damping??
Did a good job with the audio. New mic?
Surprised to see you hanging the bike off the seat with the dropper down. It's that not an issue anymore?
Hi Rob, nice review! Very detailed. Can you run a 200mm dropper on a size L? Cheers!
What I want to know is do you have Peaty's logoed socks
Thanks for the info Rob .
XXL please. I'm 6'6" and would buy one of these but it is clearly one size too small for me!
Are you shooting canon camera? It's warping
built-in battery completely ruins this amazing bike. it's a pity
do you know anything about the range extender? this could improve the situation. maybe this port is just for him
I'm just curious, why it took half a decade !! for Orbea (other brands too, however new Wild is 2 years behind Specialized Turbo Levo gen3 !) to create ebike with decent geometry ???
Im 186cm too /64kg and Im asking myself the same question!
Could anybody help here? 🙏
Maybe something in 2 weeks about the slot? Fingers crossed for a range extender.
Appriciate any help,
Thank you,
Yuval
In a similar boat, was getting an xl '22, changed to a '23 but just large. Trusting their sizing chart, hope it works out.
How did it work?
What size bars does the stem use?
The main issue I have with a 29er rear is buzzing my nuts on very steep stuff because I'm not as tall as you. Such a shame they haven't included a flip chip (or some other means of lowering the rear axle), which is such a simple thing to add to give buyers the flexibility they need.
It's all very suitable for me otherwise, but I won't be buying one unless a properly designed mullet option was created for it.
Not nice when you catch your shorts in the rear wheel - from a fellow short legged person
Hi what colour is the frame ....Thanks
Galactic rainbow
What is the color of this bike called?
What is the shortest inseam lenght you can have on the xl frame with the seat post fully extended?
Depends on CF vs Hydro frame. There's a blue paper on Orbea's site that goes into detail.
I loved your video comparing the weights of the Al versus carbon Rise. How much heavier is the Wild versus the Rise if equipped the same(same tires and battery)? Thanks for the great videos!
As a Carbon Rise owner, you have to assume around 10 pounds.
How do you travel with a bike like this? Hotel battery charging must be a nightmare!!
Which color is that!?
Rob if you were paying for a bike. Which one would you choose from between Orbea Wild and Specialized Turbo Levo Expert models and why? Thx
I’ve ridden both old and new models. The new one is lighter and more agile like a Levo gen 3. I just hope ANT+ LEV is supported because battery bars are awful.
Can I travel around the world on this bicycle?
The only downside that I see, apart from the price, is the fact that you cannot remove the battery to charge it inside.
Thanks for sharing !!
e mtb or side by side is the question since they are the same price where i live.
Yes this is benchmark in Bosch emtb under 21kg 😱😍 but the price lol
Best ebike videos 😊
Worth selling my Oso to get this?
I bet that port is for a range extender
@@RobRidesEMTB Thanks!
Rob, have you looked at the Mondraker Crafty? Very similar to the Orbea in many ways but 455mm chainstays. I am the same height as you and had one last year, amazing bike. I might get another one!
Yes, like the bikes 👍
Thats the one after i win the Lottery 😕 what about the POLE did you forget that after getting this one?

@@Greyarcher1 it's not even that light
@@Lee-ic2yn i have an Haibike Fullseven 8 and it is Perfect Except the Weight could be 2-3kg lighter its around 25-26kg and yes sometimes i feel the weight i like to climb difficult stuff cos i dont have Downhill slopes here, but i ride de-restricted so i can get some Speed Thrills 😉 i have to say there are coming more and more Emtb's and choosing is really getting difficult, making a'film about what bike is made for tight corners and trails or Downhills and s,o, at least saying it in the Rewievs that this Bike is long for Speed and Downhills or short for tight cornering on Trails would be nice 😉
The LTD i’d want bc it’s so light, the other cheaper models are wayyy heavier!
I want an xxl. Around 520 reach would be right ✅️
