Do I part out this Audi A4 or repair and put back on the road?

  • In this video, I look over this Audi A4 Cabriolet to see if it’s worth putting back on the road.
Not like my usual video, hopefully these will follow when I start the repairs.

Thanks Barry, yes I think so. It’s clean underneath as well I tried to film it but it turned out rubbish so left it out. Cheers.

By far the best video you've done!! Really good effort, music, feel, graphics etc etc. Keep it , flip it save from the scrap yard and onto the next little project. Think you suit a convertible!! Once you've fixed do a POV drive ready for the summer. Then move it on.

Cheers for the feedback! I enjoyed editing the first part of the video, it turned out how I had it in mind. Don’t know about it suiting me though it’s really not my cup of tea honestly, I’m intrigued in driving it as I have only ever driven a convertible at 20mph when I used to work at the auctions, I will definitely get a days insurance and drive it to the MOT place when the time comes hopefully it’s a sunny day and not flipping raining 🌧️ we will see. I have a couple of plans on this one that’s slightly unusual for my channel so we will see. I need to get it fixed so I can have my driveway back. Cheers.

Hi Steve, good video mate 👍, I have to say, even though there doesn't look like loads to do, it's probably more than its worth.
I'm no expert in the car field, but I have done similar things in the bike world, and it soon mounts up.
Of course, it may be something you want to do and hope to break even or whatever. Sometimes, we do things because of enjoyment rather than financial rewards, cheers, mate 👍

I’m getting a good deal out of this I think, MOT wise (hopefully) it doesn’t need a lot to do or money spent to get it through the tyres are the most expensive thing to buy new.
I think parting it out is alot of effort from me honestly and won’t yield much more money, I’m not keen on that idea anyway.
I have a buyer for the car already at an agreed value they know about the potential issues it has, and it’s a family member which makes things easier so we will see how it pans out.
I’m thankful for the content and for working on something different, I need to move it on as it’s taking up my driveway space 😂
Honestly if I make a small amount of money I’m happy as you say I enjoy working on cars as you know and doing different things such as making up a break line is interesting for me and for my little channel.
I hope you will enjoy the future stuff that I have coming up. I can’t wait to get spraying again I’m keen on doing a couple of spraying videos again this year as the one I done has been a hit, I even had a chap contact me and ask for advice which was nice, I also mentioned you as well so you may have a couple of questions coming your way.
Cheers Pete hope you have a nice weekend.
      Steve.

Well worth saving until the end , when you said the DMF word 😢that’s a grand before you start to pull it a part , and it being the Quattro model sends shivers down my spine , also it’s not the S line some one has just stuck an eBay badge on it , it’s got the wrong seats in it , but the engine has no chain rattle on start up that’s a common problem with these engines, if the last owner has mistakenly thought the chain rattle was the dmf then don’t worry to much about it , it’s a common problem with old high mileage v6 audi engines , my 3.2 TT does it on cold start up , the chains are slightly stretched that’s why they do it ,

Thanks for that information, I’m not to familiar with the Audi specs, so thanks for that 👍. The clutch kit on my Passat was £600 so I can imagine that this would be worse. But what you say about the chain rattle, you could be on to something there as it does rattle for like 1-2 seconds on a cold start and that’s it, even a warm start or a cold start after it’s been ran it won’t do it again, usually a DMF rattles all the time I thought and changes the clutch, fingers crossed.
Thanks for your comment Phil that’s been very helpful and I will definitely do more research.
      Cheers.

The chains will need doing eventually, around 150k if it starts to miss fire for a few seconds then it’s getting worse and it’s an engine out job as the chains are on the back of the engine , to be honest with what is wrong with it I would leave it alone it’s got to much against it with the chains and dmf , I would personally get rid of it

Hi Steve, have to agree that it's defiantly worth saving as it looks good body wise I can't see much rust and the panels look straight. So sort the brakes and tyres out maybe a new section of exhaust then maybe refurbish the headlights and a good clean it should be good to go👍

Hi John yeah that’s what I was thinking hopefully a quick turnaround as I need my drive way back 😂😂 I couldn’t find the leak on the exhaust when I ran the car up so it’s either not to bad or not there at all doesn’t seem noisy at all though.

Providing you fix what's needed for the MOT you will be fine mate, obviously the exhaust will be a fail so make sure it's not a small leak👍

Cheers John, I will double check it when I next have it on axle stands. I may need a friend to give it a couple of revs but I don’t have any friends 😂😂😂
