The double up inside the crimp trick is something ive always done with small wiring like this. Glad to see you share this trick. Ill be adding dielectric grease inside my connections from here on out now too. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks, I’ve been waiting to see if you were going to use the side scanner you previously purchased for your other kayak. I will need to watch this again as soon as I purchase my hummingbird. Thanks for another great video.
Any chance of a video of the actual picture quality of your graph while on the water? Great video- subscribed. Still waiting for my outback- very popular I guess
Great video! Just was wondering if the image either the side or down gets funky with that guard up in the front? I was thinking it might make a ripple/wave that might mess with it? I'm looking to get the Helix 7 Mega SI and was gonna do the same mount.
Question , only because your near the concrete ships and I was wondering what would happen hit 2x4 , tree limbs etc . with that space between guard and the transducer
Great tutorial. Crazy set up for that side scan. I think I'll stick with the regular down scan so it'll be protected in the Lowrance pocket in the hull. Having that transducer hanging below like that makes me a little nervous. Thanks, Mark in Oregon
Wonder if berly pro makes a cover for this transducer ? Seems like you would want the transducer closer to that gaurd ? I fish inshore as well is my concerns
Great video, I just bought a Helix 7, getting ready to install it in my outback, do you recommend put an inline fuse to protect the fish-finder? I didn't notice if you had one on or not. Thanks
Did you ever make a Protector for the transducer ? I was looking to buy one from Berleypro but they don't make it for the Helix 5'' or 7'' ! Do you have a problem in shallow water? Was thinking of making one out of Kydex but don't know if it will work.
The side scan works efficiently with it mounted right there? I’ve seen other videos where they mount it a little lower but it’s more vulnerable that way imo.
I'm looking at this same unit. I see you have upgraded but would you still recommend the helex 5 SI? It seems like a good size and price for a kayak for $499.
I use the Nocqua 10 amp hr lithium packs. I have 4 of them wired together to power the unit. I got them form The GPS Store here in NC. They do mail orders and have good prices.
Best video on this install. I almost returned my Helix 5 transducer because I couldn't find a good video. Now it's time to get to work.

Yes it does work well.
Outstanding video. Thorough and very easy to understand. A+. Thank you!

That retractable transducer plate is nice. Might have to consider switching over to that one. Thx for sharing very good and informative video.
Perfect video, just what I was looking for. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I got that same unit with my Old Town Topwater PDL as part of the introductory package deal. It doesn't have the sidescan though, but I still love it!
Yes it is a great unit for the $
very organized work, thanks!
Great how to vid. Getting ready to install one on my PA14.
Great Video, answered all my questions. Thanks Again keep up the good job
Thank you!
Any links to the adapter?
Your kayak is comeing together looks good
Anymore updates on the Helix 5 SI..... what you think of it?
I am looking at this Helix 5 SI GPS G2 model to put on my Outback.
Gave you girl some new eyes!
Nice Job!
What I did for a career in navy! Sonar Tech!
Great video! Any reason you bought the Helix 5 over 7? Is 5 adequate for saltwater offshore?

Great video man, you ever do any crappie fishing in the winter I usually have good luck in the river down from my house

I never had any problems with this setup.

not sure why he cut it out .as long and water is covering it will work
Enjoyed your tutorial...where did you purchase the 8" circular hatch liner?
I think I got it at a local dealer, can't remember honestly
Wonder if berly pro makes a cover for this transducer ? Seems like you would want the transducer closer to that gaurd ? I fish inshore as well is my concerns
I'm sure they do
Great video, I just bought a Helix 7, getting ready to install it in my outback, do you recommend put an inline fuse to protect the fish-finder? I didn't notice if you had one on or not. Thanks
Yes it would be a good addition
And the fact that factory instructions say put in line 3 Amp fuse. Not doing it and you can forget the warranty
Where did you get your transducer shield from?
I think it was called Berkey products
Transducer protection plate in front of transducer does it interfere with forward image
There is no forward imaging, only side and down
Hey Jesse, has the side imaging proved to be worth it? How is it on shallow water and under bridges?
Yeah it is definitely a big step up form the standard transucer. I feel it would be even better with a screen that had better resolution...

No I didn't because this Outback has the retractable plate mount for the transducer
@@SouthernReelsFishing Yes i understand my concerns are it can get scrached and damaged.

Worked perfectly
Do you get blown around in your pro angler more than the outback? On the fence about which one to go with.
Yes definitely. the pro angler sits really high in the water compared to the new Outback.
I'm looking at this same unit. I see you have upgraded but would you still recommend the helex 5 SI? It seems like a good size and price for a kayak for $499.
Yes it is a great unit!
Is the hummingbird still working good?
It did up to the day I upgraded
Awesome tutorial. 👍👍👍
Nice vid bro, im in the proces of getting an outback19, im subbing to your channel, good stuff.
I like your small screw driver who makes it ( screw gun in the video)
Its an old snapon model
Awesome thanks for letting me know
great tutorial, wish you were my neighbor!
Hey Jesse. Where did you purchase your batteries?
I use the Nocqua 10 amp hr lithium packs. I have 4 of them wired together to power the unit. I got them form The GPS Store here in NC. They do mail orders and have good prices.
Wanna sell your other Hobie,lol....nice video
