Hobie needs to offer other videos on how to install other companies fish finders instead of only Lowrance.. For the money we pay for these kayaks it shouldn’t just be Lowrance ready.. I just bought a helix 7 DI SI and can’t find much information on how to install it on my 19 outback very disappointing
I totally agree. I am so stumped trying to figure out how to install my 2D humminbird helix 5 (all season). I'm thinking I can mount on the underside of the plate, but no clue. Can't find a video for this.
Sorry for asking... but does the plastic part u install at minute 1 with the hobie?? I bought my hobie in july and my hook reveal 7 triple shot just recently. I was trying to install it but i am missing that part as well as the extensions and all bolts washers and nuts. Thx in advance
The screws in the Guardian parts kit are: one 10-32 X 1-3/4 and one 10-32 x 1-1/2, both use 10-32 nylock nuts. The washer is a flat washer .227 X .453 SS. FYI - We have a Guardian replacement parts kit available for purchase through our Hobie dealer network, PN 72020216.
No, this transducer mount is only compatible with Pro Angler and Outback models. We do offer mount kits for the Lowrance side scan transducers for Passport 12 (TripleShot, TotalScan, Active Imaging 3-in-1).
The TripleShot needs to mount and sit exposed underneath the Guardian plate, as shown in the video in order to perform as advertised. Please reach out to your local dealer and they can help get any questions answered: www.hobie.com/dealers
@@HobieOfficial correct me if i'm wrong but on page 24-25 of the 2019 Hobie Outback manual it states to place the Tripleshot transducer inside of the Guardian plate (Step 4). Am i seeing/reading it incorrectly?
What happened to the two zip ties ? At the end of the video there was 4 screws instead , is there a way to Keeping the transducer tight with screws instead of the zip ties ?
You can order them through your local Hobie dealer: www.hobie.com/dealers. Be sure to order two, as they are sold individually as replacement parts. PN 777006 ADAPTER ARM, GUARDIAN READY V2
This would have been awesome when I tried to install my tripleshot 2 days ago! No instructions re Guardian plate from Lowrance or Hobie - I got there in the end...after about 3 hours of trying to figure out if I could somehow use Lowrance mount and screw with guardian plate - I found the second Hobie screw hiding in a scupper plug - for some reason this screw and washers were separate from the other screw,c-clips bag. Is there any reason why you can't use existing holes in Guardian plate for cable tie?
You could choose to use the slits in the Guardian plate with no issues, but there's none further back on the mounting plate - which is why Howie created his own.
The Guardian is only available on new 2019 and beyond Pro Angler series and Outback kayaks. The Guardian does not fit previous model year kayaks with the original Lowrance Ready mounting plate due to major mold changes. The new Guardian is much larger, and the kayaks it comes factory installed on have a much larger transducer cavity.
@@HobieOfficial so DIY is not feasible in your opinion? Missed it by one year.... Damn.... Side note: The supplier's wheelez bushing for the heavy duty cart could use some length and diameter inside the wheel well. There's room and it could prevent them from popping out and bending the axel clip; for what it's worth ;)
Howie i own a 2019 hobie outback and love it. i installed a Lowrance ti 9 fishfinder with all the bells and whistles. And it works very well but the knot came off on the guardian and found the cord in the hull of the kayak . I've been looking on Hobie.com and youtube for a video or sketch on how i can install it back on with no luck can you help please. Thank you

Thanks for the video. Digging that Hobie Fishing Team shirt too!
What do you recommend for installation of a Humminbird Helix5 transducer with down and side imaging scan?
Awesome Video thank you ☺️👍

Is Lowrance a requirement? I have a Garmin unit.
Do you HAVE to use the retractable system for a tripleshot trans? Or can I just mount it on the inside of the plate instead of outside?
i want that hobie shirt
I don't have the mounting hardware. I'm guessing since Howie used a 3/8 wrench the bolt and washer are 3/8? Tia Rob

Can this be installed on a 2021 passport 12.0?

All I want to know Hobie is where can I order me a Hobie shirt like in this video to go with my new outback:)
Howie is wearing an AFTCO woven tech shirt that was used as a Hobie Fishing Team shirt. Check out AFTCO.com for their whole line!
I kept my tripleshot transducer inside the mounting plate per the manual instructions. Will I get an incorrrect/distored reading on my Lowrance?

mike enos It looks like they reused footage from the Elite install video. The transducer shown at 7:42 is the Totalscan transducer.
Where can i buy the extension arms for my hook2 7 tripleshot,? And loving my new 2019 outback.Tia Robert.

Thankyou! Fantastic video and appreciate this
When can we order the guardian? Been talking about it for half a year with no way of ordering. Looks like I’ll have to 3D print an alpha of my own.

This shows the proper routing: ruclips.net/video/3_IRBDy_tXg/видео.html
Can you car top it with a transducer.
Absolutely! The transducer retracts right into the hull for car topping.
He never showed how he got the transducer to be screwed on later in the video instead of just using zip ties at he did at the beginning of the video
