The only good thing about that Beauty and the Beast Christmas midquel and failed TV pilot repurposed into a direct to video movie is that they sell off the idea that Belle spend months in Beast's castle which make her befriending the Beast, and the Beast improving his behaviour and attitude towards her and both subsequently falling in love with each other less abrupt.
It also makes you wonder though why no one ever wondered where Belle was that whole time. Maurice comes in, says Belle was taken by a beast, then Gaston can't find Belle anywhere and has to wait apparently months for her to come back so he can put his plan in motion. And he never put two and two together...? Hm, I was told she was kidnapped and she's been gone for months, no one's seen her anywhere, might be related...

Scary redheaded girl going out like Bobba Fett.
Omg I was crying when I thought Maleficent died, I cried even more when she came back cause I was so happy

Same!
I swear, he is the only reviewer that pointed out how Joker said Murray.
😂😂😂😂 *"Did you see this MUR-RAYYYYY?"* 😂😂😂😂
It so funneh
Lmaoooo!!!!
"Do we need Dora the Explorer to explain this?"
Yes
Why can't we have Maleficent turn into a dragon? THAT'S HER THING!!!
Aaron Kelly ...yep. I’m HIGHLY not interested in not watching it now.👿
@@paolocalapatia6401 I'm not saying I'm not going to watch it.
I think they were trying to be original. I feel like if they had turned her into a dragon it would've gotten more eyerolls.
@@legitzwiz15 That sounds fair.
Although from all the weird stuff in the movie, would it really be that out of place?
@@aaronkelly1762 Maybe not. But it probably would've given people all the more reason to bash it for rehashing old material. Or they would've been like, "Well, why couldn't she do that in the first movie? This sucks!"
seeing dolores umbridge as one of the fairies gave me PTSD
god bless imelda staunton
So... they legit made the movie about an attempted genocide and, like, there's a scene where a bunch of them get locked in a room and gassed??
Yep. Awful.
Yep. And then they never address it. They just pretend like everything’s fine by the end of the movie, on the same day it happened. Insane.
19:00 Ah yes, the classic Disney “It wasn’t the protagonist’s fault” Death.
THEY killed THEMSELVES.
Bonus points if the hero actually loudly refuses to kill the villain just seconds beforehand because “I’M NOT LIKE YOU” only for the villain to immediately kill themselves in an attempt to attack the hero.
Hey, Gaston had it coming.
He broke into Beast's home, tried to kill all of his servants, and set the place on fire, then literally stabbed him in the back right after begging for his life.
"That's MALIFICIENT over there ! She'll PUT you to SLEEP !" ... Slow clap.
The iron thing makes sense, it's part of fey lore that iron is their weakness
That’s why every night before my kid goes to bed I lightly tap his forehead with iron just to make sure he hasn’t been replaced by a changeling.
@@stephenmarco2927 - Take no chances and jab the little fella.

Disney writers: Should we finally make Malifecent into a dragon?
Disney Executives: PUT A BIRD ON IT!
"Well...son? Don't you love your dad?"
Well, Philip? We're waiting...
lmao mood
I'm pretty sure the last part was just Disney flexing on Sony that they actually made a better "Dark Phoenix" movie than X-Men Dark Phoenix lols
But maleficent was never a remake. It was a retelling of "Sleeping Beauty"
It's credited by many as being the kickstarter of the live-action remake trend, though
remakes and spinoffs are different. remakes are shot by shot recreations of movies / creations that existed in the past, and a ton of the live action remakes are such a downgrade from the animated originals, but the maleficent movies are special because theyre not live action remakes, theyre SPINOFFS. they tell a completely different story from the original animated movie of sleeping beauty. THATS what we need to do more if we want to do more live action disney stuff, SPINOFFS and RETELLINGS (example: why queen ursula hated king triton so much - ive heard theories that they are somehow related - or how the pridelands worked and thrived long before mufasa was king + how taka (scar) got his scar) not stupid bland remakes.
Eijofor-Fay wasn't just two days from retirement, he also just made the final payment on his lake house. AND just made up with his estranged brother. AND just quit drinking. AND his middle name was Sean Bean.
Those three are the ugliest CGI faries I've ever seen.
Faries arent gonna have makeup, dresses, etc real faries are probably ugly
"But I love Philip! He's so..... he's there!" = Me at the beginning of every relationship 😂
Soooo... They did a gas chamber for a bunch of creatures that is villains/in power class found inferior? In a Disney movie? Oh no...
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is the third sequel of a live-action Disney remake. The first being 102 Dalmatians from 2000 and the second being Alice Through the Looking Glass.
I mentioned Alice but my bad on 102 Dalmatians. I was referring to the more recent set of films.
Hook I'm a joke to you.
@Brian Cairns Didn't Disney make a black Cinderella movie waay back in the day?
turnertwist that’s not Disney. That was Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

I have zero problem with diversity, but just let it make a little bit of sense, and develop the characters well. Is that so much to ask?
@@mamc1986 r u saying.....genetic diversity via magic wings makes sense but genetic racial diversity and magic wings is too much.....bc i hope not
@@mamc1986 weird how that requirement is not put in front of white straight characters aka what some consider the default. Philip’s dad, The King was also eyeing Maleficent and she was eyeing him back at the wedding! So is something gonna happen there?
She also eyed the other white winged guy. Your point?
Sometimes looking at someone is just looking at someone.
@@morganfreeman9106 Very true my friend, very true!
Clinton Ryan Then it’ll be incest technically because the king is Phillip’s dad and Maleficent is Aurora’s “mother.”
cxrpse. No.... just. No. That’s now how incest works. Stop.
U making me mad bruh, how r u gonna make a grown ass man wanna see this movie? It better be good. Lol
It's actually pretty good. The only reason I saw this is because my younger nieces were visiting and my parents decided we would go see something. I was a little reluctant to see it but I'm really glad I did. I hadn't even seen the first one
It's really good.
So what you're telling me is that the small girl pulls a red wedding on all the disney creatures.
"Do you like iron? No. Ok, you're cool with us then"
This movie pull off a better dark phoenix then the x-men: dark phoenix
It is more like “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil?”.
I think the queen was the "Mistress of Evil."
@@Bezaliel13 More like "Mickey: Mouse of Horrors"
@@Bezaliel13 That's why it should have been "Maleficent and the Mistress of Evil".
So Jin Choi it’s very misleading because in the original animated film “Maleficent” references herself as the “mistress of all evil” right after Aurora pricks her finger.

“You get Thanos’d”

15:55 They close the door and the reigns of castemere starts playing- oh wait wrong wedding.
It would fit though
I was totally entertained by just listening to you describe this film.
So Phillip was like, "I just wanna get married..." This movie sounds truly awful, but your recap was definitely entertaining.
As a HUGE fan of the first film, this one exceeded ALL my expectations. It's an incredible sequel to a beautiful film, especially if you grew attatched to the characters.
well the sequel is gonna be Maleficent: Endgame
21:51 okay first Aladdin with the giant birds and now Maleficent, DISNEY WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST REPTILES!?
Ehem.... Enchanted is the problem.
Plus those raven wings = definitely won't be a dragon
Frozen 2 has a small salamander. If that counts 😂
savvy gravvy ok that makes me a bit better
savvy gravvy I don't think a salamander is a reptile. It's an amphibian.
Well at least Disney isn’t against amphibians
I love that you called the 3 fairies Huey Dewey and Louie XD (I didn’t see the movie so I’m spoiling the heck outta it before I view it. This is by far the most entertaining explanation/review/spoiler etc) great video. Great job, man. :)
That feeling when they put all the woodland creatures into what's essentially a gas chamber.
I loved the moment when Maleficent met the other Dark Fey. For the first time since her wings were removed she wasn't being framed as this dangerous and powerful mistress of the dark fairy woods. She was a scared young woman. Then she reclaimed a bit of her position when she knocked Bora across the room, but she was still framed as a young woman until she regained some of her strength.
Oh thank God someone else noticed the whole “why can’t the prince wake Dad up” thing
And that Disney put a gas chamber in sleepy beauty
why is it always the bad fanfics that gets a movie deal?
I could listen to Andre summarize all day, way better than the actual movie could ever be!
"They made Sonic the Hedgehog in this movie!"

Remember when Maleficent was an awesome, charismatic villain?

I miss that.
It had the Queen as the villain here and she was the best villain queen I can probably think of. Realistic and not mad or whatever, but actually IRL and real badass.
Stefan Dakovski agreed.

She still is.
Remember who's playing her in live-action? Exactly.
Of course, they won't be ballsy to keep that from the original.
"Take all my life force that I have left. It's gonna make you even more powerful and also change your outfit..." hahaha gold!
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
OK, but define "Evil".
That part^
The only good thing about that Beauty and the Beast Christmas midquel and failed TV pilot repurposed into a direct to video movie is that they sell off the idea that Belle spend months in Beast's castle which make her befriending the Beast, and the Beast improving his behaviour and attitude towards her and both subsequently falling in love with each other less abrupt.
So...how far is the castle from the village then?
Because Belle, Maurice, and then an angry mob led by Gaston keep going between the two.
I remember hearing the “real mother” line in one of the trailers and thought “I need to see this movie”
