In my opinion, the new Barbie doesn't teach u or inspire u to do anything. It's just watching Barbie with her problems that aren't relatable. Video game hero, puppy chase where she stayed away from her sisters the Hawaii puppy chase where she gets them stranded, spy squad where she stayed a loser the whole movie, secret door when she couldn't give have the strength to say like a sentence to a few girls cuz she wanted to read. And the message at the end of the credits on rock and royals was rock your own story....if I were a kid I would be like but u want to be someone else that's not rocking your own story. Stuff like that makes u not a fan of Barbie in my opinion

The original Barbie's are honestly prettier than the latest better animation versions. Rapunzel, Genevieve, Diamond castle ones... they're just BEAUTIFUL!!! 😍
I dont mind the barbie modern movies- but it just looks tacky- the old barbie movies felt elegant (?) Idk the new movies just seem childish? They are childish due to the fact 8 to 10 year olds have phones, tablets, laptops, etc. to the point they won't watch Television anymore where Barbie could premiere because they have this compact device, another reason is they want to be "trendy" like watching James Charles, Joana Ceddia, Ariana Grande, K-pop, etc where they will think that just overall watching barbie is upright childish even if some we're not, giving the franchise the decision to make it more suitable for younger audiences. Edit: This also is the case for Winx Club.
I remember watching Barbie: Starlight Adventure on repeat for days, over and over, after my dad died. I was 24 with a Barbie movie on loop, but something about the movie just calmed me, took me out of my pain for a little while and was just--I don't know, a great movie to enjoy with some escapism that isn't overly cheesy, but also has a happy ending (as expected).
Actually, I want to clarify something. The white horses with the pink hair in Pony adventure movie are NOT magical. They are said to have this... "Superior" skills, like more speed and jump power, and they are more intelligent too, all this by genetic, but they remain as a myth since they haven't been seen for a long time. Barbie is a National Equitation competitor, and she's looking for her new horse, which is very important for her, of course, and that's the reason they traveled there, to her aunt's equitation academy. She eventually finds the white and wild horse by casualty and after a bunch of things they become closer. Meanwhile, her aunt is having some economic problems due to the lack of students (real problem in many sport academies recently) and thanks to Barbie and her sisters' talent they get to save the place and gain attention by winning some inter-academic competences. And in the end, Barbie is really happy with her new horse (since she's as good as the legend, and will surely get her a gold medal) but she doesn't want to take her liberty away (which she will if she takes her as a competence horse) so she lets her go. If you ask me, this is the best "Barbie-and-her-sisters-kind" movie by far. Realistic, with good character development (cause you'll see new sides of the sisters too) and with good arguments too (and songs xD). I do recommend watching it, despite it doesn't have magic and fantastic things. I liked it a lot, and would have placed it higher in the list.
I'll give it a well-reserved second try since my impression was quite similar like Caitlin: "Boring" even when many Barbie movies could feel that way and not necessarily be a bad thing!!!
Barbie taught me that it was okay for boys to wear tight clothes and dance with girls... *Also Barbie In The 12 Dancing Princesses is the most iconic film in the series and that's that on that.*
And the barbie actress is the one telling the story, I'd watch that. Being honest, to keep my title I have to watch every movie with Barbie in the title.
Do y’all remember when you would finally get the new Barbie dvd youve wanted and then while your watching all the commercials and what not and waiting for the movie to start and then the trailer for the next barbie movie come up, that was like the most excited I’ve ever been.
When me and my sisters were kids we were obsessed with Barbie and the diamond castle. We watched it so many times that the CD eventually started lagging so we had to buy a new one because we were that obsessed with it.
Carol the Cake uGh i know. I really miss the pastel, beautiful colors and the beautiful scenery of natural landscapes and whimsical things like castles back in the old Barbie movies. I’m not a big fan of them incorporating so much newer style animation which doesn’t have the same charm as well as incorporating modern technology and even futuristic technology and themes. I understand current toddlers and younger kids will relate to it, but I wish they would keep it like they did in the older days to keep that nostalgic and charming feel, yet use the resources they have today to add a little twist, if need be. But they’ve completely changed it.
It's unfortunate Mattel isn't going to make more. Straight to DVD isn't cost effective anymore. I think they might come back to it if some new platform pops up, but I'm not optimistic.
It kinda bothers me how modern Barbie looks more like Polly Pocket than Barbie lol. The animation got better but the old models were pretty neat and I miss them. It was nice to imagine I was using my imagination to create all sorts of stories with actual Barbie dolls, but now everyone looks like this weird Polly Pocket/Barbie hybrid lol.
“Barbie Princess charm school”, “Barbie as the island princess” and Barbie in the 12 dancing princesses” and “Barbie and the diamond castle” will always be my favourite Barbie movies.
Swan Lake is THE MOST nostalgic and probably my favorite Barbie movie for me. Just something about it is just so magical to me and everytime I think of Barbie movies, Swan Lake is ALWAYS the first thing that pops into my head, I love it so much

They are childish due to the fact 8 to 10 year olds have phones, tablets, laptops, etc. to the point they won't watch Television anymore where Barbie could premiere because they have this compact device, another reason is they want to be "trendy" like watching James Charles, Joana Ceddia, Ariana Grande, K-pop, etc where they will think that just overall watching barbie is upright childish even if some we're not, giving the franchise the decision to make it more suitable for younger audiences.

I remember watching Barbie: Starlight Adventure on repeat for days, over and over, after my dad died. I was 24 with a Barbie movie on loop, but something about the movie just calmed me, took me out of my pain for a little while and was just--I don't know, a great movie to enjoy with some escapism that isn't overly cheesy, but also has a happy ending (as expected).
Ahhh that’s me but with 12 dancing princesses. I’m 19 and that movie (especially the song Shine) really helps me cope with life

Actually, I want to clarify something. The white horses with the pink hair in Pony adventure movie are NOT magical. They are said to have this... "Superior" skills, like more speed and jump power, and they are more intelligent too, all this by genetic, but they remain as a myth since they haven't been seen for a long time.
Barbie is a National Equitation competitor, and she's looking for her new horse, which is very important for her, of course, and that's the reason they traveled there, to her aunt's equitation academy.
She eventually finds the white and wild horse by casualty and after a bunch of things they become closer. Meanwhile, her aunt is having some economic problems due to the lack of students (real problem in many sport academies recently) and thanks to Barbie and her sisters' talent they get to save the place and gain attention by winning some inter-academic competences.
And in the end, Barbie is really happy with her new horse (since she's as good as the legend, and will surely get her a gold medal) but she doesn't want to take her liberty away (which she will if she takes her as a competence horse) so she lets her go.
If you ask me, this is the best "Barbie-and-her-sisters-kind" movie by far. Realistic, with good character development (cause you'll see new sides of the sisters too) and with good arguments too (and songs xD). I do recommend watching it, despite it doesn't have magic and fantastic things. I liked it a lot, and would have placed it higher in the list.

When me and my sisters were kids we were obsessed with Barbie and the diamond castle. We watched it so many times that the CD eventually started lagging so we had to buy a new one because we were that obsessed with it.

Barbie needs to make more new princess/magic film set in a remote era that would just be PERFECT with the new animation.
Carol the Cake uGh i know. I really miss the pastel, beautiful colors and the beautiful scenery of natural landscapes and whimsical things like castles back in the old Barbie movies. I’m not a big fan of them incorporating so much newer style animation which doesn’t have the same charm as well as incorporating modern technology and even futuristic technology and themes. I understand current toddlers and younger kids will relate to it, but I wish they would keep it like they did in the older days to keep that nostalgic and charming feel, yet use the resources they have today to add a little twist, if need be. But they’ve completely changed it.
It's unfortunate Mattel isn't going to make more. Straight to DVD isn't cost effective anymore. I think they might come back to it if some new platform pops up, but I'm not optimistic.
