Oh trust me, I never forgot lol. When I was little, I would always get mad at the beginning because I still shipped Frankie with the guy from the previous movie, and by the end of the movie I would have a new ship.
As I have gotten a little older, I've decided Frankie is just one of those girls who doesn't quite know where the line is between being friendly and flirting.

that comes directly from the novels, I actually thought it was nice that they kept that in, since pretty much all the novel canon was ignored in the tv series+movies

I know! I used to love monster high dolls because they were so cool and different, it sucks that kids today won’t be able to enjoy them
ever after high was my favorite doll line as a kid, and because of descendants, it was overshadowed. so the line ended.
I collected Monster High dolls as a kid and watched every movie as soon as it was released, even after I was considered too old to like dolls and kids movies. Obviously at that point I'd stopped caring about the dolls (because it wasn't socially acceptable, I actually do care about dolls and still have all my old ones) I still watched all the movies and then the reboot came and I was so freaking bummed. I had such nostalgia for all of the previous movies and they changed so much and removed great characters and ships. I never owned an ever after high doll but I watched and loved the series there too.

Fun fact from a kid who has actually played roller derby! We’re actually encouraged to wear cool outfits like the monsters in the movie. We don’t wear giant armor. I understand that the roller rink in the movie is WAY more dangerous then what I had to do as a derby girl but I feel like the outfits the girls wear are a good homage to actual derby girls.
I play derby too, and my name is kimono dragon so I wear a kimono and have a dragon and cherry blossoms on my helmet! I love how creative it is

14:24 actually, in Draculaura's Collector doll diary it was explained that Dracula has adopted her and turned her into a vampire because she nearly died of plague in her childhood, and her mother has died of plague (and Dracula and Draculaura's mother Camille had romantic relationship). I think you can read her diary on MH wiki

It's one of my favourite representations of DID in any media. It's got realistic components to it, even though the progress is far too quick to be realistic as reaching that level of communication would probably take many months if not years as opposed to a few weeks.

Yeah, she really misunderstood the point in some of these movies. The thing I really dislike about her opinion for boo york is that she's so disappointed over the fact that it *could've been* 40 minutes long and the movie "dragged on" but here's the thing... if it had just ended where she wanted it, Deuce would have not gotten back together with Cleo. Luna moth would not have made it into the music business and there was still the comet that was coming so.... I just feel like her reasons for disliking some of the older legendary monster high movies are just shallow...

i was genuinely upset she didn’t understand freaky fusion. it was such a good movie that tried to teach why their prejudice is wrong and was super iconic when it came out
Also in Clawd's defense he didn't want Draculaura playing on the roller derby team because it's a dangerous sport and he just didn't want her getting hurt like he did - I didn't think it was sexism. He annoyed me more in "Fright On"
It was more of Many, Heath being sexist and the other guy characters

The Draculaura thing, she was a human, daughter of Dracula's best friends, but her father died in the war and her mother from sickness, Draculaura was also sick so Dracula bit her, that way she didn't die, then i guess he adopted her, so thats why her parents don't appear in the family tree, they are not part of the vampires

Now you HAVE TO rank the ever after high seasons. Ever after high is just a better written version of descendants, with an extremely well written story especially for the main demographic.

Ikr? I think that’s why I liked Great Scarrier Reef. Lagoona finally took centre stage and I’ll admit it: GSR is a guilty pleasure of mine. The designs were absolutely stunning: and I loved the twist with Cala. It was also pretty awesome to finally meet her family: her siblings were absolutely adorable!

What I want from monster high:
•THE REBOOT TO NOT EXIST, dolls and the the reboot movies
•LGBT representation. The creator wanted there to be representation but Mattel was like “it’s not the right time”
•more development on side characters, I remember there being dolls but they weren’t in the movies

I think about this all the time!!! Glad someone found it annoying that they weren't included
they could've had such a good storyline with jackson and holt that would've given more depth to their character(s)
No one was bullying the hypbrids they were purposely avoiding everyone
Lagoona and Deuce are also hybrid. Lagoona is the offspring of a sea monster and an ocean nymph, and Deuce is half gorgon and half human (which is why his cousin Viperine has a snake-like skin while he has a normie skin).
Fun fact: Nathan was supposed to be gay in Freaky Fusion but Mattel said “It’s not the right time yet.”
Honestly I got that vibe from him when rewatching the movies and was like there's no way his character was originally straight
They did that with a few of the characters unfortunately :/ The creator wanted multiple lgbt+ characters but Mattel just went "hm, no, sorry :3" which was such a massive shame and missed opportunity. Hoping for the best with all the new content coming up, but not letting the hopes get too high TvT

Monster high book reader here: according to the books, While Dracula and Draculaura have a father/daughter relationship, he’s only actually related to her “by bite”. Meaning he turned her and adopted her as his daughter, but isn’t blood related to her, which might explain why she doesn’t have a mother on the family tree!
I mean she should still technically have a mother though I feel like on the family tree because Dracula married the mother after all (he fell in love with the mother when he took her and Draculaura in after the birth father died)...

@Johanna Dagny When the father died in war, Dracula took in the mom when she was pregnant with Draculaura (he took her in because she was married to a descendant of one of his loyal servants). Draculaura was named after Dracula for taking care of them. Dracula fell in love with the mother and made her female head of the house (meaning he married her). The mother died from the plague when he came home one day, and he bit Draculaura so she wouldn’t die too. Draculaura was turned when she was a toddler.
I remember seeing Frankie and Draculaura in stores and fell completely in love. They were different then the other dolls, both spooky yet cute and not in a "black and pink ooo" kind of way, but an actual spooky fashion theme. I remember treating them with so much care after I was able to buy them. I still have a decent collection of the original dolls to date, but man the butterflies I got when I first saw them will never go away.
Monster highs og designer said that Val and Nathaniel gay and we’re supposed to end up together but it was “never the right time” and then he didn’t like the reboot direction and left so we probably won’t get that ship

One of the main reasons why the reboot didn’t do well with because they pissed off their fan base by changing everything, which was a big reason why they were popular still, and they also change the quality of the dolls to lower quality which is another reason why they were really upset and I didn’t do well.
I counted over 40 characters missing. OVER 40. CHARACTERS. It wasn’t a reboot, it was a goddamn massacre in disguise. RIP...

Draculaura was actually human. Her mom started working for Dracula, and they fell in love. But she had a disease and it killed her. Dracula began raising Draculaura, since she had no one else, but when she was 16, it was discovered that she had the same disease and was dying from it. Dracula couldn't lose her like she lost the love of his life and ended up turning her.
That is Draculaura's Origin Story.
The dolls are a big deal! They were different because they were not human and they had amazing fashion, were fully articulated etc. the attention to detail was incredible, and from what I can remember the dolls came out before the movie! I think you would love the dolls so much! I hope we get a video of you getting some! I still have some of mine in a storage.

Freaky Fusion was absolutely amazing. It covered topics like bullying, concept of the self, and interracial relationships (subtly). It has a great showcase of their powers and it has probably the deepest emotional plot of all the movies.
"He was the son of Jeckle and Hide." I choose to interpret this as Jeckle and Hide falling in love and having a son together instead of them just being one person.

I done like people saying Moanica replaced Ghoulia. They’re similarities end. At “They’re both zombies”. To me Ghoulia was replaced by Frankie’s new smart attitude.
@Violinistories honestly I really like moanica, and it's nice to have another latinx character. And to me ghoulia was replaced with frankie's smart attitude, and ari hauntington. Who also replaced spectra
@Violinistories no I'm not saying that. I really like moanica not because of where she's from, but because of her design, personality, and her aesthetic. It's nice to see a punk character in monster high besides torelai, and I wish she was in the original too. Overall, moanica isn't in my top ten favorite character list, but I still like her very much
@Violinistories i like Moanica because of the role she served and the questions she brought to the table. The Ghouls believed monsters and humans had to unite while Moanica believed Monsters with their powers could take vengeance over humans. And i mean, after years of being forced to hide. Could you blame them? And she certainly had great leadership abilities, and was very smart (at least only in Welcome to Mobster High) and while Toralei is more of just a mischievous girl, who gets under the girl’s skin. Moanica was someone who questioned their ideology. And yeah, her being Latinx is cool, but not the main reason i like her.
@Violinistories i also think her design is really cool, worms for earings, a belt that looks like an intestine, a necklace with a ripcage, and more other bodily callbacks (since as her last name implies) she’s a Decayed corpse, a zombie.

In my opinion, the freaky fusion movie was really good. The thing with combining them was less of a reason to teach the girls a lesson but a reason to help the hybrid kids understand that they didn’t need to feel like they’re were constantly being judged at monster high, that even though they were different they can still be accepted. I also relate as a kid who’s extremely mixed race and the way they were portrayed was really interesting

not really, you can hear the auto tune on almost every song. the only one i would say has some talent is the singer for luna and that's mostly due to her singing in an accent which can be super hard

MAN, they teased us so hard with that, what with Cupid and then Raven's and Apple's cameos at the end of Boo York Boo York. I wish that they could've done the crossover before both lines were canceled. Who knows, maybe in the future it could happen. I'm not holding my breath but it's nice to imagine aksksks

I’m upset Clawd isn’t on on the reboot. Him and Draculaura were my favorite couple. Draculaura is my favorite character. Twyla is also one of my favorite characters.

You should watch the Ever After High series too! It’s concept a LOT like the Descendants movie concept which you said you liked!

I liked the premise of Freaky Fusion, but I agree that a lesson didn't need to be learned. I do wish we got to see more of the hybrid monsters, though.
I loved 13 wishes. It was really fun, and I really like the development Howleen got.
Fright On was great to me, and I really wish we could've seen more of that conflict and resolution throughout the franchise.
And of course Boo York was an unexpected delight. It was unnerving at first since the singing VAs didn't sound like the speaking VAs, but I got over it.
Never seen a second of Monster High before, but I've also never missed a single one of your videos! 🤣🤣

I used to be obsessed with monster high, and my absolutely favourite movie was the roller skating one simply because it was the one they added Robbeca Steam in. She is the absolute best character ever

It's hated on because the plot wasn't there. There was an entire story of characters and past, and then Mattel thought they should target MH to kids instead of teens and wiped it for something more cutesy and watered down.

Draculaura was actually adopted by Dracula! When Draculaura was a baby, she and her mother (it’s unknown what happened to her biological father) were sick, and Dracula took them in. Draculaura’s mother named her after Dracula to express her gratitude, but she unfortunately passed away and Dracula made Draculaura a vampire to save her.
I don't know why I never got into monster high, this series seems like something I would enjoy watching and such. So eventually I will try to watch some of the movies.

Also, read the Monster High Books! They explain the actual origins of Monster High and they are way different than the movies and tv series. They really help the universe make more sense

i love the concept of monster high so much and i honestly wouldnt mind having a show or film for adults that has smth similar. i dont pay much attention to films if im being honest but i do feel like we havent gotten good gothic/fantasy in a while ykno. and the whole like...Look of MH in terms of character design is just *chef's kiss* (the OG design anyway). I only say show/film for adults because there's less restriction on what you can and can't show so i think it could allow for more interesting story lines - not bc i want to riverdale-ise MH lmaoo i dont wanna see my childhood characters fucking and i dont care for a 'darker' version per se.
