    @7:36 i found it was easier for me to get a square cut with a cutting wheel by putting the t-case in 4L and trans in 2/1 and idling the motor. (MAKE SURE THE FRONT TIRES ARE OFF THE FLOOR or PULL THE FRONT DRIVELINE!).

    Good video on this, I did the R. E. Hack n Tap over 20 years ago. I wish there would have been a utube video on it back then. That one is a flange mounting point, so no "cheap front drive shaft" to use. That's a nice kit especially since you can carry just one spare drive shaft for front or rear use. I always preferred to trash u-joints or drive shaft vs busting a R&P.

    Some front Cherokee shafts are shorter the 2000-2002 grands have for sure 1" longer front shafts.

    Clear video. Thanks for posting. One thing to add... @3:45 - the slip yoke can also just slip off your t-case under flex, which gets really exciting...

    @13:50 glad you mentioned castor alignment. I had about 5" of lift at the time and had lots of vibration on the freeway and had to install shims. Measuring castor and adding shims might be a good video topic in the future.

    The actual slip yoke kit is way stronger.
    But the hack n tap are down and dirty cheap and work. Done it a few times.

    One tip when tapping the output shaft is get a stick of Castrol or similar cutting wax and coat the cutting thread of the tap numerous times. You will reduce the odds of breaking your tap immensely.

    • @core4x4fab
      @core4x4fab  Год назад +1

      Absolutely! Cutting fluid or cutting wax is highly recommended when tapping anything. Taps are hardened, and thus, more brittle. So once they break inside a blind hole, they're very difficult to get out!

    There is also a alternative way to install this i cut the yoke even shorter to create a gap between the flang and just tig weleded it to the shaft and plug welded the bolt hole i know its prement and cant disassemble the t case anymore but im going swap to a 241 Rubicon case real soon if it blows i will need to swap sooner

    If you cut the shaft while the jeep is running in gear on a lift you can get a more even cut.

    What about a 249 transfer case on a zj? Would it work on the case?

    Isn`t a front drive shaft considerably weaker than a rear one? I like the idea but I dont think a front driveshaft will be able to handle a 35 inch tire.

    • @voxnova9471
      @voxnova9471 Год назад +1

      Since this is a budget option it’s definitely not as strong, but considerably cheaper.

    Would the front driveshaft work for a 6.5" lift?

    • @core4x4fab
      @core4x4fab  Год назад +1

      Yes, it will. 4.5 inches is the minimum lift height required, and there is plenty of length to go higher!

    I have one of these in my Jeep and it’s only lifted 2 inches! It works just fine 🤷🏻‍♂️ And please stop calling the driveshaft a “driveline”! The driveline is everything in the system, from engine to diff!

    • @therockinjunkieshow1391
      @therockinjunkieshow1391 6 месяцев назад

      Everything is the drivetrain. The driveline is the trans, the tcase, driveshafts and axles.

    Using a drill to run the tap is a TERRIBLE idea. Buy a tap wrench.

    • @Jack-tx2ve
      @Jack-tx2ve Год назад

      In some situations, not necessarily this one, using a drill is a great idea. I work on steel boats. When you have 50 holes to tap in a steel cabin, you ain't doing by hand. Not unless your employer does care about the fact time is money.

    • @shooter77us
      @shooter77us Год назад +4

      @@Jack-tx2ve a snapped two in a steel plate is no big deal, especially in a production environment. A snapped tap in the only output shaft you own is a fucking problem.

    4:12 Throw those straps away and drill it out and put u-bolts in instead, way better.
