I knew maybe a fifth of what was covered here. This game is a LOT more broken than I thought
I remember as a kid, I saw a glitch where a ghost was stuck completely still in one of the top corners of one of the attic hallways. Never could find anything like this ever again, no matter how hard I searched for it

One of my favorite games to not just play but also speedrun! I wish they would do what they did with LM1 like they did with Metroid Prime remastered and Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door
I had 2 glitches happen to me as a kid. I'm not sure if they've ever been documented.
1) I was standing on the edge of the well, and the ceiling ghost surprised luigi. He fell down the well without using the ladder. This seems similar to a glitch covered in this video.
2) Over a decade later and I'm still salty about this one. It was my first playthrough, and I didn't have a memory card, so every night I would just leave my wii on, and resume playing the next day. I was fighting bogmire, and I attempted to suck up one of his shadows. It condensed into that dark ball with the particle effects, and then... nothing. The ball was just floating there. All the other shadows disappeared, and bogmire never reappeared. I couldn't interact with the shadow ball no matter how hard I tried. I was soft locked. I knew that if I reset I'd lose all my save data, so I spent HOURS of trying in vain to do SOMETHING. Eventually, I had to admit defeat and reset my wii. I lost all my save data. To this day, starting the bogmire fight makes me a little nervous. If anyone has video of this happening, I'd appreciate being able to see it. I VIVIDLY remember the black translucent ball just floating there with the particle effects shooting off of it, taunting me. I did so many laps around the boss arena trying to trigger anything.
Wonderful work on the video all! It's great to see all these glitches and tricks in a single video; there's so much stuff I never knew about. Really interesting of a watch - and quite _spookily_ entertaining at that!

Don't remember how I got it, but that was one of the games I grew up with. Haven't played it in a while. Might be time to pick it up again soon.
@@OfficialGlitchDoctor Yeah i did a full playthrough on emulator a few months back for the first time since childhood, the game holds up, the soundtrack especially stuck with me. Also i loved the use of Paper Mario TTYD OST in the video, but that goes without saying.
25:41 i remember playing luigi’s mansion and this happening to me twice while playing it. I was playing on dolphin so i tought it may have had something to do with the configurations i was using, thanks for explaining it
9:24 im pretty sure this one has happened to me, and it made my heart drop hard as a kid. those types of crashes, where the sound that just happens to be playing at the time gets stuck and therefore super loud, they are deeply unsettling.
I managed to get bogmire before even getting the heart key. The ball trick works!

the glitches at 9:18 and 35:38 seem like they have some potential for some weird stuff similar to SRM in OoT or cloning in SM64, though maybe not really useful or maybe not even possible, I kinda want to know if there's some more stuff you could potentially do with them (either loading something else while collecting the gem the frame it despawns or more things with loading other rooms while holding something)
I was thinking of that too. Luigi holding the door immediately reminded me of Link holding a door with SRM
I was thinking the same thing. The value for the held item is being replaced with the value for a different entity after luigi crosses a loading zone. If an object could be replaced with king boo's crown...

Great video. Sorry it took... so long for me to actually check it out. I just sorta forgot. Anyway, it's fascinating to me that I would discover and publish the first instance of R-Pumping. Koopary may have been the one to popularize it, but I find no harm done in that. Good on everyone.

OMG it's been SOOO long since I've seen your videos. The first one I ever watched was the Luigi's mansion beta
I love this game, and while i cant play the OG version cuz i dont own it, i play the 3ds remake to death, and i LOVE this game, ive played dark moon and 3 but not nearly to the same extent i have the OG, i like the more creepy atmosphere and gameplay more, its my 4 fav game of all time and i love it so much, and while fourth seems kinda low i play a lot of different games lol

I’ve always wondered what it would be like to control Luigi in the secret altar after defeating king boo. What colour is it on the map? What’s the rest of the mansion like?
How do you get the moving shots of the hallway? 8 want to start making youtube videos and it almost seems like youre recording in the game engine. Any help would be nice thank you. Love the vid
Oh yeah, that was a bit of a challenge itself. I did it using Dolphin's Free Look function, though there were times the camera would stutter. I think I just had to make the best of it, the text was added in after.
Glitch doctor can you do a video like this on the Legend of Zelda Wind Waker? I just thought that would make a great video!

so this is an extremely small oddity but ive never seen it documented anywhere and id be interested to know if anyone is familiar with it.
I was playing NTSC on original hardware and was in the Pipe Room, had just cleared the room and collected the key. I approached the right-most corner and used the gameboy horror to scan a bucket when an abnormally formatted text box appeared in the center of the screen.
it was a semi transparent grey text box in a different style than the other text boxes in the game and the text was pulsating between light and dark grey. I am really struggling to remember what the text box said, but it was something to the effect of Luigi taking note of the environment to himself.
I had been playing the game very normal and hadnt performed any exploits or sequence breaks. The text box sort of gave the impression that it was a Beta sprite that was somehow never removed.
I promise i am not making this up and i plan on doing what i can to recreate it and document it. Please let me know if anyone has heard of this!!
You sure it wasn't a question mark in the center of the screen with the text "What's This?" That usually happens when you scan an object with either a Boo or a Boo decoy (Boo Ball, Bomb) hiding in it.
i want to note that this text box looked very similar to the one at 33:31 in Van Gores room
@@OfficialGlitchDoctor it could have been. My memory is slightly hazy on it but i do recall the text box possibly mentioning Egadd and it only appeared once for a few seconds and i couldnt get it to show up after leaving the room and coming back
@@OfficialGlitchDoctor now that ive looked more into it, you very well could be right. part of me still has doubt though so im going to look into it and ill let you know if i find anything! i really feel like there was a text box surrounding a sentence rather than floating text with a question mark

I've been trying to improve in the narration department. Can't quite get a really "natural" sound, but I'm trying to improve. Got more vids on the way, already have a few out.

Yeah this video caps off somewhere around -9 to -12 db for audio. I know if you have like a soundbar or something that should be loud enough to hear, kinda like how movies are made with pretty low volume.
